Andy laughed at this, more to remind Jinxi that he was still in the room, then he said, "The skills you develop will not make you more violent Jinxi. If anything, it will prevent you from losing the life you have in this dangerous town. Long ago when Dee first came to Southtown, there was no such thing as escorts. It was a time of horror beyond words, beyond what can be properly said, a time filled with nightmares one cannot wake up from. Terry and I had to be separated when we were kids just to throw our scent from a wild mad-man who gives Thanksgiving dinner something to be grateful for. Then when Dee knew that her and Terry were becoming more serious, there had to be some changes that would protect the innocent from having to relive what Terry and I went through, a way for those people to become just another body for the Southtown cemetary. Having rubber bones may protect you from most fatal twists and turns, but even rubber has its weaknesses and it only takes one person to find that weakness and take advantage of it before your tombstone is written. Dee knows that downtown Southtown is where most of those types of people hang out and she wouldn't be asking me to go with you if she felt you could handle it on your own. That training you will get will help you to dodge a bullet before it can strike your heart, it will help you wrap yourself around a killer that has you at knife point, that training will help you instinctively know when to leap from someone trying to burn you alive. Dee's one defensive power that she has is her Kiryuken blast. A fancy laser will come from the palm of her hand. Its a cool light show. Her racial talents allow her unlimited power, but she has one weakness not easily exploited. Two sudden deaths will kill her for good. When she had registered at Southtown finishing school 10 years ago, she was pitted against a skilled fighter Benimaru. What nobody else but her knew was that if she would have lost to Benimaru that day, her life would be over. She had suffered her first fatality with a broken neck after sliding on her butt down the mansion steps from second floor to first. She underestimated the steepness of the bottom step to the floor and snapped her neck. Now it had been declared that day when she broke her neck, that she had died and we all were going to bury her on September 2, 2004. We didn't know of this talent then, but when she showed up at the school as she had registered in the summer, and then she was pitted in a death match, she knew she had to use true survival skills, it was kill or be killed. Fixed or not, if Dee would have died, she would have been gone. So, you can imagine why today, since Dee has taken her place as Queen over the entire galaxy, that she wishes to see that you have the proper protection. Oh, and as for that victory she had back in 2004...though she could have chosen to graduate, Dee knew she was far from ready to walk alone on those streets. Another talent the Tuffles have, instinctive knowledge. All saiyans tend to have is strength...the ability to fight. Dee wants me as your bodyguard because I get the feeling she knows something and you are going to need my help."

Jinxi looked from Dee to Andy. "Oh," was all she could think of at first. Then, "Thank you. Both of you." She smiled and gave a small nod of respect to each of them. "If you believe I need training, I shall apply myself to learn as much as I can."

"That's the spirit. Now Andy, I trust you know the best route there at this time of day, right? And remember, the longer it takes to get these monitors, the easier it is for these bugs to mutate into monsters."

Jinxi follows willingly, if a slightly confused look crosses her face. As she passes a table, she bumps into it, attempting to catch the lamp that stood on it before it falls to the ground.

(I never saw Backyard Monsters - but I think I understand all the same.)

Andy chuckled when the lamp fell then whispered to Jinxi, "There might be a second reason why Dee wants you to go to Southtown University hospital, but let us hope that I am wrong on that one."

As soon as Andy opened the passenger door to his automatic cab-yellow, Ferrari 550 Maranello, he sneezed loudly then farted.

(for humorous purposes mostly. The sneeze was that someone was thinking of him, but the fart...it just happened. And every good comedy movie I have seen has a decent fart in it. Scooby Doo the live movie was one of them)

Jinxi suppressed a giggle as she got into the vehicle, looking around at it in interest. She decided she didn't know what other reason Andy was afraid Dee wanted her to visit the hospital for, so she let that part go.

"Are you a cab driver, too?" She asked innocently.

"Nah, there aren't any taxis in the Renaissance Galaxy. The closest place to get a taxi would be in Enthera in the Canthorian district. I am, however, a second place finisher in the SNK Grand prix. An annual car race. Dee keeps beating my tail and yet, other than color, her ferrari is a standard whereas mine is automatic."

The door closed automatically as Andy got into the driver's side. "I would buckle up, though. I am not one to drive slowly. Its not my style."

"A race car driver - how exciting!" Jinxi carefully buckled up.

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, Dee was using a device called a scouter to locate any "already hatched" bugs. This device has the capability to locate energy readings of any kind whether it be a pokemon, human, animal, or otherwise. It also can be a GPS of sorts where it brings up a map and you gotta input of where you wanna go. The scouter will then locate where it is exactly and all you gotta do is listen for how close you are and what direction it is.

An example of that feature would be if you wanted to get to Southtown University hospital from the Bogard Mansion, you'd tell the scouter of where your destined to go to, which in the example is the hospital in Southtown. The scouter will tell you how far in terms of possible routes and times. In this example, if you went by special mine cart, 2 minutes and is the most direct. Special mine carts only carry one person. Through downtown, 10 minutes. Longest way...an hour. The hour long route is known as the scenic route and you'd take multiple transport to get there. This route usually applies to those who cannot drive or for those who work at the hospital. Like...Ken Masters when he's spent the evening drinking at the bar, but has to work the following morning.

The scouter can be a tracking device of sorts too. If Dee wanted to know what way Andy chose, she just tells the scouter his name and where he's going. The scouter's method for all of this is energy waves.

Of course the scouter has replaced cell phones in the Renaissance Galaxy and is ideal for driving. The glass used for the scouter acts like a pair of shades (sunglasses), so it prevents blindness in harsh sunlight. The mouthpiece is attached to the scouter, so you don't have to remove your hands from the wheel and you don't get distracted. The ear-piece is the 3rd needed component for without this, the scouter cannot function.

An application the scouter can have is universal translator. This way you hear your language, but you speak the foreign one. It would be ideal in today's real life technology, but since when has the governments actually come up with something as brilliant as that?

Any way, for every bug Dee located using her scouter, she used a laser beam to kill it before it got to be a real problem. The only problem using a scouter instead of a higher radius scanner is that there is a good chance that the bugs can escape. These bugs are fast little blighters and a miss of them could be costly. Dee trusted Andy and Jinxi with an important mission with her only worry being that they aren't fast enough.

Jinxi was getting the uneasy feeling she wasn't from this place at all, but she kept her worries to herself. Instead she made small talk about the things she saw as they passed.

One thing that Jinxi noticed that Andy pointed out was a bunch of destroyed buildings. He told her of the time years back in 2001 when Dee was on her way to the hospital on a tour of the very ward they were headed to at this moment and how Terry had been an airhead to de-rail the passenger train using one of his moves.

He emphasized the point when he said, "It still baffles me today with how Dee's heart was still beating outside of her own chest. By all rights, with the way that her rib was puncturing it, that should have stopped it. Dee keeps explaining to us that it was her unique watch that she wears, but I still don't see how that is even possible."

Moments later they had arrived and like a true gentleman, Andy opened the passenger door. The air was much more stifling here than it was back at the lounge. It felt muggy and condense.

Andy pointed out that there were no vehicles in the lot although many people drive. He said, "One way we cut down on parking fines and car theft is by utilizing this special button where the gas tank should be. This button will literally fold the car neatly into a tiny capsule like object and then we store that capsule into a case like this."

The younger Bogard showed Jinxi a capsule corporation pack before adding, "I don't know how much you know about dragon ball Z, but this little pack here, its the real deal. Earth shows this thing in animation, but its really all about technology that Earth's dull people don't act upon. I mean, how hard is it really to create a folding vehicle using springs. Lounge chairs on earth, the folding kind you would see at a beach are the closest Earth has gotten to creating a folding vehicle. And that's just a chair."

Jinxi's eyes widened at the tale of Dee's brush with death. "I'm so glad she didn't die then. I like her! But I agree, a watch seems an unlikely rescue device. On the other hand, there are many devices here that are pretty amazing."

"Like that! That is amazing!" Jinxi said, watching the vehicle fold up smaller and smaller until it fit inside the capsule. She smiled. "Where is this Earth you speak of?" she asked curiously when he finished talking about folding chairs and springs. "Is it close by? Will we visit there, too?"

Laughing with full amusement, Andy replied, "The only way we go to earth is if we have a death wish. Earth is very, very far away from here. Dee's physical form is literally in two. The one we see here is her supposed Dream form, which only came about because of another train incident and my brother. Dee was 4 at the time had been taken from her earth home by a spellcaster named Margaret Yagami. When Terry gave chase to Margaret thinking that Yagami only took the baby carriage that Terry had planned on using someday, he saw that Margaret was also a kid-napper. So, when Margaret's foot conveniently got trapped within the rails for the freight line, Terry took that opportunity to save Dee and the buggy. The buggy isn't usable anymore and in a way, Terry was grateful for Dee being there when she was. If there had been an actual baby instead of a 4 year old in that thing, the situation would have been much worse and it would have been Terry's fault. And likely a situation that would result in Terry's end. It was during that rescue, when Terry kicked the buggy off of the tracks that Dee's physical form split in two. Now, I dunno if that was meant to be a blessing, a curse or both. Stuff like what happened to Dee is far from normal."

They had arrived at the waiting room where Amy Masters, sometimes called Amara, was at the front desk. When Amy saw Andy, she asked, "Are you here on business, Andy or for pleasure?"

"Business. Amy, this woman here is named Jinxi. She suffers from a rare kind of amnesia, which I think was brought on from the drink Vegeta served to her last night. I was hoping that while I speak to Ken about some monitors for bed bugs that you could help Jinxi out. Dee told me to escort her here, so, I figured that this was a two part mission."

"I'd be happy to. But, Andy, you should know that Ken isn't working here today. He's at home with one terrible head cold. In his place, however, Ryu's on call. Would you like me to page him for you?"

"Sure thing."

Andy gestured for Jinxi to sit in one of the waiting room chairs while Amy paged Ryu. Andy explained to Jinxi that Ryu is Ken's best friend and that if Jinxi really did have amnesia, then Amy would restore the part of the memory that's missing. "In addition," Andy went on, "If its something else, like a failed teleportation spell, then we will find out either way what happened. You claim to have no memory of ever being in that bar and in those clothes when you got here, which means one of two things. One, you suffer amnesia. Or two, due to your unique bone structure, you could have attempted to port somewhere, but because your skill as a mage isn't up to snuff, you landed with a thump and in the position I found you in. Or three...its both amnesia and a failed teleportation spell."

As Ryu had led Andy to the room with the scanners that were required for the mansion's treatment, Amy had begun her healing process for Jinxi. Andy had told Jinxi to stay with Amy and that he would return as soon as he had everything Dee needed.

She asked, "What was the last thing you remember before waking up in front of Andy's room?"

"Wow," Jinxi looked slightly overwhelmed. "Rubbery bones AND the ability to teleport to somewhere I've never heard of? That would be -- incredible!" But she went along with whatever the professionals and Andy decided was in her best interest.

As Ryu had led Andy to the room with the scanners that were required for the mansion's treatment, Amy had begun her healing process for Jinxi. Andy had told Jinxi to stay with Amy and that he would return as soon as he had everything Dee needed.

She asked, "What was the last thing you remember before waking up in front of Andy's room?"

Jinxi closed her eyes in concentration. "I remember a soft popping sound and wind and it hurt and so I opened my eyes and there I was." She opened her eyes in confusion. "Why can't I remember anything else? I know my name is Jinxi, and I have a friend ... I have a friend! Her name is Trixi! But her ears are different from mine. And so is her tail." At that revelation, two tufted ears perked up from beneath her thick, pink hair. "How could I forget those were there?" she touched one carefully. It twitched but remained upright.

Amy smiled gently, then she asked, "So, you are part animal. That's nothing really new around here. Did you happen to notice all of the many variety of animal creatures we have just in the waiting room? That would also explain why you mentioned rubbery bones. People from the land of Catorama all have that. They are fascinating creatures too. In Hamster City, far to the North of here, there is a psychiatrist who is from Catorama. You would not believe how popular she is just because of where she is from. Let me see if I have records of a Trixi living on Planet Catorama...oh, but before I do, was she travelling with you at the time you collapsed? This might help in locating your friend."
