Skill vs. Will [PRP Xander & Akane]

Black paws lightly touched the earth as a figure darted and weaved through thickly packed trees. Silvery-blue eyes pierced the twilight, looking for his next meal. He soon came across a small herd of deer. He scoffed lightly to himself. Too easy. He slipped into position. His breathing dropped and slowed. He searched for an easy pick. A young buck, lean with a slight limp in his hind quarters. His vision became tunneled, that buck was a his new prey. He lowered himself, gave his butt a light wiggle then sprung into the pack. The deer scattered. The buck being young and not as aware of danger stool still in fear. Noticed the black and white blur and scattered. It darted into the woods and Xander took chase, only to her a loud, distressed bleat and a thud. He investigated only to find a black vixen with bright red hair with a paw proudly on the throat of his buck.

His blue eyes bore into her green ones. She looked so smug standing by the buck. His voice was soft but venomous. "That. Is mine." The fur on his back bristled at her. He clearly did the work of finding them and making it run right at her. A low rumble emitted from his chest. He wasn't about to go out and find something else.

Akane always stalked these woods. The branches were low hanging and were challenging and fun to navigate. After spending a good chunk of the evening darting around the trees she felt the creeping tinge of hunger. She knew of a heard that frequented the glade near by. She decided that would be the best place to look. This time she stuck to the solid ground. She wasn't the quietest in the trees, with the occasional tripping, cursing and the worst of all falling right to the ground on her butt. It hurt her pride more than her rear end. She made it to the edge of the glade and hunkered down to survey the deer.

It was unusually tense. As if someone else was there. Did the deer notice this? Unlikely or else they would have scattered by now.She shrugged it off and was about to pounce, that is until a blur darted from the other side of the glade. The deer scattered and she did too. Her reaction was a bit slow but as soon as a buck broke off and came in her direction she tackled it and went straight for the throat. Once it was downed she stood at it rather proud until she was faced with 'the blur'. She snorted and laughed, "Yours?" She removed her paw. "I downed it. Therefore, it is mine."

His growl thickened. How dare this vixen laugh at him. Xander's tail twitched in aggravation. "As if you could of downed that buck with out my assistance." He snorted back at her. He was hungry and at this point perhaps a tad bit desperate. He wasn't about to fight this vixen either. He would rip her to shreds! Was it really worth the bickering and the headache that was sure to follow? In his eye? No way. "You can have it this time..." His eyes pierced her. "Just don't let it happen again." He grumbled under his breathe. Something along the lines of 'better than her anyway'.

She chuckled to herself, but also loud enough so the other could hear her. She couldn't help it. Though... she wasn't a completely terrible person and perhaps he did play a small roll in the downing of the animal. With that thought she grabbed the hock of the leg with her jaw and yanked the whole thigh off the buck and tossed it to 'the blur'. "If you get any skinnier your stomach is going to be eating your spine." She smirked and turned her attention back to the meal and take a gratuitous bite. She wondered to herself if the other despised her yet. After swallowing she paused. "Akane..." She looked up briefly. "...encase you cared."

Xander growled. This girl. Akane. Was out of her mind. He watched in silence as she ripped the leg right off and toss it in his direction. He huffed at the skinny comment. He grumbled as he lowered his head to the hunk of meat. "It's muscle." He was lean. Always on the move. He took a big bit and chewed. After he swallowed, silver eyes pierced the black vixen. "Xander." He tore at the hock. He was a lot more hungry than he realized. He licked the blood of the kill from his jowls. The kill was perfect and the meat was tender.
