Daniel Kiremono's NEWTs
Charms ~ EE
Daniel did very well on his OWLs in this class, and continued to put in a good deal of effort in this class. His magic wasn’t particularly suited to this class, but Daniel made sure to practice any spells he had difficulty with. His understanding of theory bordered on outstanding, while his practical scores were right on the border of acceptable and exceeding expectations. As a result, his overall score came out to a solid Exceeds Expectations.
Defense Against the Dark Arts ~ O
Since the vampire attack that broke his first wand, Daniel’s motivation in this class has been very high. Daniel may not be the first to master a new spell, but he is never satisfied unless he completely masters each new lesson. He can frequently be found studying and practicing each new spell until he can pull it off flawlessly every time, and completely understands the theory behind it. His dedication to this subject and excellent work ethic, on top of the Outstanding foundation he displayed in his OWLs, makes up for any lack of innate talent, and by the time NEWT testing came around, any weaknesses had long since been addressed. Daniel is therefore extremely confident and competent in this area.
Herbology ~ A
The hands on nature of this class helped Daniel do better than he might have otherwise managed. After prioritizing his classes, Daniel chose to put in enough time in this class that he felt he did reasonably well, but decided not to put in the extra time to really stand out, preferring to focus on other classes he felt might be more useful later in life. The result was a solidly average performance that didn’t stand out as being particularly good, but also didn’t show any glaring weak spots.
History of Magic ~ EE
This class continued to be fairly boring for Daniel, but he did his best to put in enough time to make sure he had the basics down. As he studied wizard law, a number of areas crossed over, helping him to do much better in some areas. As a result, there were a number of areas, especially where they related to changes in the law, where Daniel stood out. This helped raise Daniel’s score from Acceptable to Exceeds Expectations.
Potions ~ (EE)
The minimal wand work and hands on nature of this class suited Daniel well. He consistently did very well in this class, and had a good understanding of the theory. Daniel was comfortable and confident in his work, and scored a very solid Exceeds Expectations.
Transfiguration ~ A
Daniel continued to struggle in this subject, despite his best efforts. Much of the theory is difficult for Daniel to fully comprehend, and his talents are poorly matched with this branch of magic. Daniel was aware of his weaknesses, and blocked out extra study time to work on this subject, which allowed him to scrape an Acceptable out of this class.
Care of Magical Creatures ~ A
This class continued to be very interesting to Daniel, and the practical nature made it easier for him to understand. However, the demands of his other classes meant that Daniel did not have quite as much time to focus on this class. As a result, his score was on the upper edge of Acceptable, but fell just shy of Exceeds Expectations
Cursebreaking ~ P
Daniel magical skill was simply not up to the challenges in this class. He lacked both the strength and finesse to perform the practical requirements. His understanding of theory was reasonably decent, but when it became obvious that he would need to spend a great deal of time to do well in this class, he chose to sacrifice this grade in favor of his other classes. The end result was a poor showing when it NEWTs rolled around.
Wandlore Studies ~ A
Daniel continued to find this class interesting and fun. However, due to the demands of his other classes, he was not able to put in much extra time to review areas he wasn’t confident in. As a result, his understanding of this subject is somewhat shallow and a bit spotty in some areas, though there were no glaring weak spots.
Wizard Law ~ O
Daniel already demonstrated his solid foundation in wizarding law when he scored an O in this subject during his OWLs. Daniel continued his good study habits in this subject, often spending extra time to review anything he did not feel completely confident in. His excellent study habits and long hours of work ensured he had an excellent understanding of this subject.
