What is this new world?

Location: Plains of Rebirth - Old Abandon Town
Date: 5th day => 6th day

Marco chased after the cloaked figures through the plains. He could hear the cries from Pabumon and Jyarimon which helped him locate the kidnappers while also encouraging his chase. Veemon was right behind him and quickly catching up. He had his arms out at his side and his upper body leaning forward. Marco could feel the adrenaline rushing through him as he ran across the field. The cloaked figured were tough to spot especially since they were still at night time. The moon would occasionally break through the clouds and illuminate the area, but only briefly. Veemon caught up with Marco, but neither of them said anything instead they just continued to run. They both knew that they would need to preserve their stamina and talking while running would just tired them out.

Up ahead, the moon shined down on what appeared to be a town. The group of cloaked figures entered the town leaving no choice for Marco; he followed right after them. Once inside the town, Marco and Veemon halted to a stop when the cloaked figures stopped running. "Give me back my digimon!" the dark-haired teen shouted, but there was no response from the kidnappers. Veemon raised his arms up in a fighting stance, but still none of them moved an inch. Pabumon and Jyarimon tried to struggle against the grip of the man that was grabbing them, but they looked too afraid to put up much of a fight since they were still babies. "I said give them back!" Marco shouted louder taking a step forward.

The cloaked figure that was holding the digimon smirked at Marco and suddenly the group of them started running in different directions. Marco and Veemon were caught off-guard and among the confusion, the cloaked man holding Marco's digimon escaped. Taking a look around the town, Marco noticed that this town looked rather abandoned. "Marco, listen!" Veemon cupped his ear and Marco followed his motion. There were some faint cries in the distant. Marco's eyes widen, "we can follow their cries. Good job, Veemon." The duo immediately rushed towards the sounds of Pabumon and Jyarimon's cries. When the sounds increased in volume they knew they were getting closer to the cloaked man's location.

They eventually reached an area which appeared to be the entrance to sewer. The metal bars were rusted, but there were signs that they were broken as if something forced their way inside. "This smells like a trap..." Marco said as he entered the tunnel. Veemon covered his nose, but followed right him, "and it stinks too." Once inside they could ear the sounds of feet echoing down the sewer. "Marco!" "Help!" Marco and Veemon started running after the cries of their friends. There were no lights, but the sewer had a very linear path which made it easy to follow. "We're almost there," Veemon announced pointed at the light at the end of this smelly tunnel. Marco's heart beat was racing and his legs were getting tired from all the running, but he wasn't going to stop until he rescued his digimon.

The sewer led to an open area which appeared to be right outside the abandon town. The cloaked man was standing right in the middle of this open area holding Pabumon and Jyarimon; he was still wearing that smirk on his face. Marco glared at him and Veemon got into a boxer's fighting stance. "Let them go, there's nowhere for you to run." The cloaked man chuckled, his smirk growing bigger. The rest of the cloaked figures started appearing from behind the cloaked man leaving Marco and Veemon outnumbered, "and there's no where for you to run."

What is this new world?

Location: Plains of Rebirth - Old Abandon Town
Date: 6th day

Marco stared at each of the faceless figures, faceless because their hoods were covering their faces which was casting a shadow where he couldn't even see their mouths. All except for the cloaked man that was holding his digimon hostage; Marco could clearly see that smirk on his face. He clenched his hands into fists, that smirk was really annoying especially when Pabumon and Jyarimon were sobbing from fear. Marco looked around and saw that the area was pretty barren, filled with nothing but dirt and rocks. The open area made everything visible meaning there was nowhere for anyone to hide. He was close to the exit, but he had no intention of leaving until his digimon were returned to him. He didn’t see any other exits meaning that those cloaked figures couldn’t run away unless they got through to him. Marco was probably not thinking straight because he was clearly outnumbered; his actions were reckless, but if this was a game then what did it matter if he risked his life? He didn’t see any digimon around, except for his own, which made him wonder if these cloaked figures were actually digimon and not human. They looked human to him, but if they were humans then they were bold individuals. ”Return them now. I don’t have any intention of leaving until you give me back my digimon.” Marco glared at them with a determined look, but the kidnappers were not fazed. He didn’t want to attack unarmed opponents, but maybe he could scare them a little if he send out Veemon. He glanced at his blue partner who nodded and stepped forward holding a fighting stance.

The cloaked man chuckled and then snapped his fingers. On cue, one of the cloaked figures took out an object from his robe that looked similar to a digivice except the shape was rectangular. A bright light escaped from the digivice and Marco used his hand to shield his eyes with Veemon following his example. A new digimon was suddenly standing in front of them; it was green, had a little red Mohawk, and wore a brown vest with some brown shorts. Its eyes were an orange color and it appeared to be a goblin creature of sorts. The cloaked figured, who previously held the digivice, pointed at Marco and Veemon signaling his digimon to attack. The green digimon magically pulled out a large wooden club with screw coming out from around the club and slammed it on the ground then with a growl, he charged at Veemon. ”Watch out!” Marco warned his friend, but the blue dragon was already jumping back to avoid the charge. The globin digimon was swinging wildly at Veemon forcing the blue dragon to dodge and evade giving him no more to counter. Every time Veemon tried to gain some distance from his opponent, the goblin would leaped forward to close that gap while swinging his club downwards. ”Goburi Bomb!” the goblin created a small ball of fire in the palm of his hand and then threw it at Veemon. The dragon dodged, but as soon as the ball of fire hit the ground it exploded causing Veemon to lose his footing. The green digimon took this chance and swung his club striking Veemon in the face. He rolled on the ground several times before coming to a stop. Dust was flying everywhere creating a cloud where only Veemon’s falling figure could be seen slowly standing back up. ”Veemon! Are you okay?” Marco asked concerned about his partner; that last attack was brutal.

When the dust cleared, a Veemon panting heavily was seen. There was some blood coming from the side of his mouth, but he wiped it away with the back of his hand. The goblin smirked at the blue dragon bouncing another ball of fire from his hand. Even if Veemon could gain some distance from his opponent those fire balls would still get him if he wasn’t careful. The goblin had miniature bombs at his disposal and a heavy club to strike him while Veemon was weaponless and without any means to attack from a long distance. Marco could hear the cloaked figures laughing and could almost feel they were grinning at him. They only send out one digimon, but it was already drawing his own digimon into a corner. Pabumon and Jyarimon sobbed quietly probably scared from the whole situation and sadden by harm these strangers were inflicting on their blue friend. This is like that time when we faced the Cyberdramon. There’s nothing I can do… Marco thought with frustration. Veemon took a deep breath then exhaled. He repeated this action again as he brought his hands up taking a boxer’s fighting stance. ”Don’t worry, Marco. I will beat this guy.” Veemon grinned, ”he’s not that tough. I’ll show you!” The goblin glared at him then threw his fireball which Veemon dodged, but this time he wasn’t caught off guard by the small explosion that followed. Instead he charged forward to close the gap between them. The green digimon raised his club so he could start swinging wildly against, but Veemon was ready for that attack as well. ”Humph!” he jumped high into the air over the goblin, ”Vee-Headbutt!” the blue dragon came down head-first for his headbutt attack, but the goblin digimon used his club to shield him from the attack. Nonetheless he stumbled back from the recoil and Veemon took this punch him in the stomach. The goblin grunted in pain, but swung his club horizontally hitting Veemon his shoulder and causing him to wince in pain. However, Veemon wasn’t done yet and came in for another jab; the battle wasn’t one-sided anymore. The two digimon traded blows with Veemon using his fists to cause damage while the green goblin mostly used his club.

Veemon was more agile so he was moving quickly and punching at every opportunity that he could. The goblin was becoming overwhelmed, but he continued to swing his club when the chance arrived. Sometimes the club would hit Veemon causing him to falter, but he tried recovering as quickly to continue his attacks. The battle was both impressive and gruesome to watch. Veemon might have been at a disadvantage since he wasn’t using a weapon, but he was showing a lot of courage by continuing to fight. ”That’s it…you can do it,” Marco felt a strong sense of pride at seeing the effort his digimon was putting into the battle, ”you can do it, Veemon!” the blue dragon ducked as the club passed over his head and from that low stance he prep for his signature move. ”Vee-Headbutt!” He pushed off his legs and stuck the goblin’s chest and stomach using his head. The impact lifted the green digimon off the ground successfully knocking the air out of him and he fell down to the ground some distance away. Veemon was panting with several bruising and scratches on his body, but that last attack must have done some critical damage on his opponent because he was not getting up. ”Way to go Veemon!” Marco cheered, but his celebration was cut short when he heard the angry screams of the goblin. It was a piercing scream full of fury which made the body shudder. The goblin digimon stood back up panting like an angry beast, ”Goburi Bomb!” He started throwing many fireballs at Veemon, one after another left his hand. His rage was causing his aim to be less accurate and easier for the blue dragon to dodge, but the aftershock was the real problem. The moment the fireballs would touch the ground they would explode and the impact was tough to recover from especially with the speed at which they were coming. All the small explosions were creating a dust cloud blocking Marco’s view from the battle.

Inside the dust cloud, Veemon could hardly see the goblin and he wasn’t sure where the attacks were coming from anymore. He could feel that there was someone inside the dust cloud with him and his intuition was proven right when he felt the wave of an attack coming at him. He jumped to the side just in time to dodge and attack, but he was struck by a different attack. Veemon didn’t understand where the second attack came from since the angle was completely off. He wasn’t fighting just one opponent, wasn’t he? Veemon felt a vine wrapping around his neck squeezing him. He struggled to get free, but instead he was swung away. Marco still couldn’t see pass the dust cloud, but it was beginning to disappear. Once enough of the cloud was gone, Marco did not like what he saw. Veemon was on the ground with two figures standing in front of him; the goblin digimon and a new digimon whose whole body appeared to be made of vines. ”Cowards!” Marco shouted in anger, but the cloaked man holding his baby digimon only laughed. ”Were you expecting a fair fight?” Veemon tried to get up, but the goblin kicked him in the stomach and the new digimon swiped at him with his vine arms. How was Marco supposed to win in this kind of challenge? The game had suddenly turned really difficult and unless some his digimon received some kind of power-up then they would not win. The Digi-egg of Courage, Marco suddenly remembered the words that Swanmon told him that morning. If certain conditions were met then the digiegg would help his digimon unlock a special kind of digivolution. The black-haired youth fished out the digiegg from his pocket and he saw the crest glowing a bright orange color; the opportunity for their victory had arrived. Marco held the digiegg upwards and shouted the words Swanmon told him, ”Digi-Armor Energize!” Veemon’s body started to glowing causing the digimon to back away from him as he was engulfed in a shell made of fire.

”Veemon armor digivolve to…Flamedramon, the fire of courage!”

The shell made of fire exploded and out came Veemon in a new form! He was taller, much more than Marco, and he was donning some fiery armor. His chest was covered by an armor plate that had a loose turtle neck. Three black leather belts were wrapped around his biceps. There was armor on his thighs, feet, and hands. Each piece of the armor was decorated with fire designs which consisted of red, orange, and yellow colors. Lastly, he wore a helmet that had a long sharp horn coming from the top. This adult form looked powerful and he seemed to represent the element of fire. Marco realized that the digi-egg of Courage was gone from his hand, ”it’s an armor…” He smiled at Flamedramon, this was his digimon’s new power! Not a regular digivolution, but an ‘armor’ digivolution. The cloaked figures had grown silent (expect for Pabumon and Jyarimon’s cheers) and Marco figured they were concerned, ”as they should be. Get em, Flamedramon.” The fire dragon man pulled back his hand, which caught on fire, prepping for an attack. ”Flame Fist!” he shot four fireballs from his fist towards the goblin and plant digimon. A whole new battle had begun.
