Dekana was caught somewhere between absolute disgust and utterly livid rage... he'd finally completed that stupid report for that stupid anthropology course and it had gotten flushed to the dripping staircase. He couldn't possibly think of a worse place for his homework to end up... it was hand written in ink and parchment and... well, the staircase was basically tailor-made for destroying anything of a tree fibre nature.

He'd never, thankfully, had a reason go rooting around in the sewer muck of the staircase before now but... he just didn't want to repeat the paper. Surely the professor would accept it if it was still somewhat legible? The shadow panther rather hoped that would be the case. If not, he was half cocked and ready to punch someone or something in the crotch to alleviate some of his anger.

The staircase had it's exit to the outside at the moment, which meant he had to go traipsing about in the midnight shadows to go feel around in the bathroom detritus and it made his skin positively crawl in revulsion at the thought. Even just walking around the outside of the building here, one hand on the wall and the other held before him (it was strangely pitch-black, as if the night had drowned everything in ink).

About halfway there, something flapped in his face and he yelped, grabbing at the object with a hiss. The object, light and flimsy, and brightly coloured, did not move from its spot floating in the air about five feet from the ground. He tugged on it again, it wouldn't move. He tried once more, pulling it away rather then down and it shifted a bit.

He squinted in the gloom to find a pair of sopping wet boy's boxers lingering just before his face. The way they hung made him think of laundry but there were no other pieces of clothing that he could feel and there definitely wasn't an invisible laundry line hanging up where the boxers would be attached. He poked the boxers and they swayed, as if hung on something. Alright... something had enchanted this to hang up and dry but why was it here? Of all places?

Grumbling in irritation, Dekana swatted it aside and blinked as it billowed away, like a balloon filled with helium caught in the breeze. It was literally floating!

Shaking his head, he moved on, resuming his walk with one hand before him and one on the wall. It was a few minutes later that he felt the cold, damp door that lead to the landing of the dripping staircase. This was his goal, his aim, but it just so gross!

Hesitantly, Dekana opened the door and a bit of goo oozed out over the doorjam to slick his shoes. The panther shuddered. At least it was lit in there, in all its oozy, gooey goodness... the pool of light around him had defined edges, as if he were stepping into some unknown world. If Dekana were being truthful, he would admit to feeling as if exactly that was happening – the staircase descended into the gloom of below, the walls caked and dripping with any number of fluids, countless pages plastered to the layers underneath the current wave of goo.

What had hit the stairs glopped on the step surfaces, pooling then running slowly, almost deliberately over the edge to pool on the step below, giving the entire staircase the illusion of constant, slow motion. Occasionally, a pair of undergarments would peel themselves from the wall or floor to flap away with newfound sentience or scuttle into the corners to hiss at Dekana as he stood, poised, at the entrance to this alien world.

Gulping, Dekana took one step in, then another, grimacing as he felt his feet sink a little into the goeay surface of the stairs. Then something dripped on him from above, sliming the side of his face and running down his shoulders, ellicting a keen of disgust as he tried to wipe the offending fluid from his body. This only managed to off balance him on the slick surface of the stairs and he fell, going down hard on one knee as the other foot slid out in front of him. The only thing that kept him from sliding (endlessly?) down the dripping stairs was his tail – he'd hooked it around the door jam out of reflex.

For the next ten minutes he struggled to get back to the door without falling into the stair's grasp and ended up covered from head to toe in any number of disgusting things. By the time he managed to get his way out, he was retching and disgusted beyond belief.

The homework could jack itself
