DEPENDABLE Nothing is as important to Basil as making his master's happy; he does whatever it takes to always be there whenever he is needed, to fulfill any task set before him. He places a lot of value on doing good work, and believes that anything worth doing is worth doing right.
SOFT-SPOKEN Given that he is still dealing with the fears and issues caused by the death of his first masters, he is often quiet and contemplative. He rarely speaks up unless spoken to, and when he does contribute, it is only when he feels it is of the utmost importance that he do so. His voice his naturally quiet, and easy to miss. He often has to repeat himself, which can be quite frustrating for someone who would rather not speak.
LOYAL Basil's loyalty is unwavering; he would do anything asked of him if it were in is ability, and if it were not, he wouldn't give up until he found a way. After being assigned to Hogwarts, he was so grateful for the chance to make himself useful that he nearly ran himself into the ground trying to please his new masters. He is highly respectful of the Hogwarts staff, and will bend over backwards to please them and help them in any way he can.
EFFICIENT Basil wants to accomplish as much as he can in a given day, which means that he has to work quickly and well. He rarely makes mistakes, taking his time when he is learning a new task, but once he has gotten familiar with it, he will often find ways to perform it more effectively and in less time.
ASTUTE Being quiet and easy to miss, Basil is quite good at observing the people around him without being noticed. He picks up on a lot of what goes on around the school, and enjoys people-watching. He finds it useful to know as much as he can about both the staff and the students, because it helps him determine who he will be comfortable around.
NERVOUS He is very anxious, and has trouble dealing with stressful situations. In work, it isn't often an issue, but he cannot stand being yelled at or mistreated, and reacts poorly to it. Any act which he believes should earn him a punishment will leave him shaken for hours, and any interaction that goes poorly will have him on edge for days.

EARLY LIFE Basil was born into a pureblood wizarding family, one of many generations of his own family to serve theirs. He was raised in their home, and taught how to care for them and their needs by his parents. The family was always kind to him, and he grew very fond of them all. When he was still young, the entire family was murdered for being blood traitors, leaving him with no master. He was taken in by the House-Elf relocation department of the ministry, and sent to Hogwarts.
ADULTHOOD Having witnessed the brutal death of the family he'd served, Basil was quite shaken by the events, and it took him a very long time to recover. He buried himself in his work, focusing on doing his best to serve the school. He has recovered greatly from the events, but is still quite nervous around strangers, and has difficulty interacting with humans he has not gotten to know. Naturally observant, he watches the students in the school as much as he can so that he knows who to avoid.
