Jealousy and rage followed the God of Desire, but he'd meet his end facing dignity, humiliation and revenge. Perhaps his indiscretions were his undoing, or maybe he was just unlucky enough to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time.
The multitude of arrows in his back said otherwise. As his bloodied body was carried out a few eyes watched on, some in mourning but a few, like the God of War's, were filled with another emotion. One that refused to shed tears for the flexing beauty. Who could blame him when the God of Desire was taking that which wasn't fully his?
It was learned soon after that the vile Snake Empress and her family had made their grand escape while party-goers were distracted by the mischief of the Erotes. Is this why The Great Huntress had been so absent? Her dear sister could possibly clear that question up since they had been seen conspiring together, but she's in the habit of having fainting spells whenever his name is brought up in terms with the investigation. Curious.
The tension among the Erotes gives it a feeling as though the place is coming down around them. Some don't even attempt to pretend it isn't there during their investigations, but are very open about their thoughts on the matter. You could ask any of them and you'd be sure to get a blatant answer. Unless, of course, they're hiding something or information on someone.
Might be worth asking around.

The temple, once beautiful terrestrial home honoring Venus. It could be cleaned up, indeed the cherubs had done a great job of it. No amount of scrubbing could remove everything she saw. Even now the Temple seemed to seethe disharmony. Maybe once the crime was cleared up things could start to feel more easy. Anyone who could kill a deity needed to be removed. It created balance a check system. It also upset Venus, one balance for another.
The mortals would need help, naturally. Her own dedicated search had proved no direct proof so it was time to use a champion. In that effort, Harmonia produced an arrow. It was fashioned in Dolandor though not one of Artimis' directly. Turns out her cagey Aunt wasn't very forth coming. The arrow from that fauness would likely come with a painful price tag.
As to her own pleasure, she wrapped the arrow in cord that had been deliberately broken in the center. There were clues enough around, this was her own contribution. One of them could irritate Artemis, maybe a faun that she favors so much.
Holding the arrow much like a spear--oh how her grace siblings would cringe if they saw her form--the Goddess of Harmony tossed the arrow down to the front of the Temple. If Mayu did her job, and the mortals had sense to start at the scene of the crime, Venus would never know.
This investigation didn't interest her in the least. No attacks had happened in Dolandor. As long as their Mistress stayed there she was safe, surely. Safer still for the flock that guarded her, the others of her kind might not be as such but wasn't her concern. It was only for Mayu that she bothered to be here at all.
Her poor sister needed reliable help to look into the matter. With the Mistress how she was, there was no time for the bumbling of normal rabble that came around only when there was a party to be had. Only one flock had what it took to deal with the matter. It was a shame Mayu couldn't come directly. The three of them were unstoppable. It was what it was, so off she flew to the Temple that attracted all the trouble. Eventually they would listen to her suggestion and move Venus's temple. It had to be sitting on some ancient graveyard or something like that will all the negativity it brings. That or the Goddess of Harmony was working overtime--or not working at all hard to tell.

Luminita looked exactly like a detective would as she was among the first to approach the temple. Well... minus a matching sleuthing hat... a jacket... and a pipe.... Okay, so she didn't look the part at all, she looked rather normal in fact, but she was more than hyped to figure out the mystery and report the findings to her scientist friend.
That was the only reason she was here. After all, they never did realize what had caused the mysteriously irrational behavior all the pae'il were exhibiting that last Valentine's Day, their own insatiable need to dance included.
At least they had been rather good dancers, if she did say so herself. Especially the way Esmee mover her hips about, side to si--...
ANYWAYS!
She was here to see if there might have been a connection to these strange desires and the 'random' death-by-arrows death of Adonis. Perhaps they were related, or maybe not at all. Either way, returning to the scene of the conflict was sure to provide some information. Hands behind her back and posture upright, she walked directly towards the temple, stopping only as something glittering and shining caught her attention. She stopped to dramatically point her finger at the arrow, identifying it to all present among the otherwise normal ground, before quickly scurrying over to dislodge it.
She held it oh-too-close to her face, eyes squinting (then widening and squinting again) and lips pursing as she looked it over.
"You!" she yelled just a bit too loudly, pointing at one pae (Selah) in particular. "Look what I found! Want to see?!" without giving her time to answer, she seemed to just appear next to the girl, shoving the arrow too-close to her face. "It's an arrow! Found right there--" Luminita paused to dramatically point towards where she found it, not moving it further away from the other's face.
"Don't you think that's..."
"..."
"...suspicious...?"
Quote: Considering Luminita's show, anypae is free to come over and show interest in the arrow. They're just not having it shoved so dramatically in their face.

Veiled by shadows, the normally bright Erote remained out of sight for the moment, choosing to observe rather than get involved. Not yet at least.
When his father had shown up at the after party, shortly followed by Adonis' untimely death, well...it'd been more than a bit of a bo--err...mood killer. Himeros had been avoiding the temple as much as possible, and it seemed he hadn't been the only one. Word must have spread among the mortals, because fewer and fewer seemed to come to call for him as of late.
Of course, he still made house calls.
One of the first arrivals seemed to be his dear sister. Oh good. He looked past her to one of his mother's dear birds, then towards an overly enthusiastic mortal who had just appeared; answering the posted summons, he supposed.
Feeling the tension building between his shoulder blades, Himeros took a deep breath, closing his eyes, then releasing it with a conscious effort to calm. He was on edge...but, it had been some time since the party and that had been the last time he'd been around so many mortals at once. If many answered the call, well....there'd certainly be plenty for him to look at while they attempted to get to the bottom of this lingering issue.
He wasn't the only one tense and anxious.
Moving silently towards his twin, Himeros made an odd face at witnessing Harmonia's actions, then unceremoniously draped himself over Pothos' shoulder. "...what in Hades do you think she's doing?" he half-whispered, his chin on Pothos' shoulder, lips near his ear.

Hjortur wasn't the kind of naiad who would typically consider intentionally involving himself with these sort of conflicts.
Death?
Murder?
Normally, he'd just turn the other way and keep doing his own business, since it wasn't his problem and had no reason to stick his nose into any of it. This time, however direct or indirect it was, it did involve him. Kind of. Well, his family: his twins and beloved goddess. The was little chance he could live down shrugging off at least attempting to help with this case, especially given the summons and all. He had to show those two (and the three at home) that he would put his fin down to help the family, no matter the situation! Or, well... at least try to help. How useful he would actually be was yet to be determined.
Maybe he could return to his carefree life when they were all grown. Little Miss Pippin and Kerianna were already teenagers, the two of them; how the time flowed! It was only by the spirits' blessings he hadn't needed to shoo away suitors from them yet. Yet. Well wasn't that a sobering thought... Calliope and Daedalus... how they grew each time they came to visit! Another inch each time it seemed! It was a little sad they never stayed too long, but it was probably for the best. Their mother could provide them a better life than he could ever try. And Autumn, not to forget him. Little bugger made it 5...
Yeah, he might like to return to his old lifestyle once they all were older. Surely Aeroniel would pretend to understa--... No, she wouldn't even pretend. She would surely chastise him.
Rubbing his head as he neared, he returned from his thoughts to smile at the lovely lady joining him this day. "We should be there in just a few minute's time." Kaarina... Such a beautiful name for a beautiful naiad. They'd just met on the journey here, likely company for just the day, but there was little a pretty face couldn't improve upon. What a coincidence to have run into another naiad anyways.
"Do you suppose this will serve any benefit, given how many seasons has passed since Adonis... passed." Poor choice of words, but, eh.

The moment those lips neared his ear and dared to whisper words, Pothos's face screwed up into something of shock, horror and disgust. If his previous thoughts hadn't sent chills down his spine, his twins fine way of breaking the boundaries of personal space did. "Himeros..." Pothos said softy, attempting to turn his head to view his twin while also standing still as the other used him as a counter to lean on.
At Himeros's question, Pothos turned his gaze back upon Harmonia, scratching at his scalp with a hand. "Tossing....arrows...like toys... would be my guess." he half shrugged, pulling his fingers free from his curly black locks to point over at the angel that had picked up said arrow and was flaunting it now. He visibly winced at how close the other was shoving a pointy potentially dangerous object into the face of another, glad it wasn't him on the receiving end of those points.
Oh Adonis.... to have flexed his last flex....and Mother.
Fidgiting awkwardly as his twin still chose to create furniture out of his shoulder, Pothos tilted his head slightly to the opposite side. His gaze returned back to Harmonia. "I can't tell if her intentions worked or...not." he said again, sighing as he had done earlier, somber gaze flickering slowly back towards the ground. He twiddled his fingers idly trying not to think of what had happened. Of Adonis, of Mother, Of----
Nope. Nope. Nope.

Mayu slipped from the room where the pink beauty had taken another 'spill'. The fainting spells were happening less and less because less and less were willing to speak to her about... him. Every time his name came up the same thing would happen: she'd go into a tizzy fit- some ending with broken objects, before she plum just hit the ground. It had been awhile since it had happened, but with talks of the investigation going on Mayu knew it would come.
After some smelling salts and helping her onto her chaise lounge, Mayu was finally able to slip away to see if the guests were arriving as planned. Though her life revolved around Venus, she normally had time for herself and her flock, but with recent events she was by the Deities' side night and day. She was the one comforting her, administrating smelling salts, and keeping an eye over her shoulder. Though Adonis was dead, it didn't mean the killer was satisfied.
She paused only long enough to check that every feather was in place. Though it was a murder, it did not excuse her to be out of order. She was a representation of Venus, nothing could be less than perfect. She adjusted the silk that hung off of her before taking that every bit of jewlery was sparkling it brightest. After taking a moment to herself, she turned back to the task at hand.
She left Venus in the care of her guards and made her way to where she suspected the guests would be. She found a small group already gathering, and was delighted to see one of her very own, “Sister.” She cooed to the other as she made her way over. “I cannot express enough gratitude that you are here to help. There is no other honor greater than helping Lady Venus during such a horrifying time.” Her hand clenched into a fist, but she quickly let it go.
“You're excellently preened.” she said, eyeing the other. Though it was meant as a compliment there was still a hard, distant look in her eyes. Seemed she too was having a hard time with everything going on. “Exactly what I would expect for such an event. It may be an investigation and not a party, but we must look our part.” It was something she said a hundred times. It was almost like she was running on auto pilot while her mind was working on other things.
She wasn't interested in the investigation so much as helping Venus find closure. She wanted to see the other back on her feet and not so angry with the world. The other part that bothered her the most was the killer was still out there. What she knew of their kind they didn't always just take one and move on. Blood lust was something she worried about.
She noticed she was dazing out and she waved her hand, “Best of luck to you, my sister, I will check in with your progress sporadically. Please inform me if you locate anything of interest.” Before she moved away she stopped the other, tucking in a feather before smiling at her. Without a word she then let her go before moving on. She had to see who else had arrived and if the other sister of her flock had shown up yet. It looked as though some of the children had made an appearance despite the quarrels and finger pointing that had been doing on and led up to this mortal investigation. At least, that's what Mayu believed. They just couldn't get along long enough to even help their mother-
She took a deep breath and mentally chastened herself. She didn't normally allow herself such thoughts, but normally she wasn't so stressed out. She took a moment to let herself reset, there would be no wrong thinking of beings who were above her. As much as she was adored by Venus, it didn't match the love of family. When her mind was cleared she turned towards the gathering, speaking as loudly as she could in hopes that all would hear.
“We are grateful that you all have chosen to help us with this investigation.” her voice was strong and her eyes hard. She was hurt as much as she was mad, not for the flexing god, but for her friend, “Do not hesitate to do what you must in order to find this monster. The sooner the better, for as long as they are free, Venus is in trouble. I would recommend working with someone or as groups, it would be better not to work alone...” her word trailed off and she hoped they got what she meant. A killer was out there, being alone could mean ending up dead.
She gave a slight bow to the crowd to signal she was fished before stepping back out of the way with a flourish of her feathers. She wouldn't linger long, just see how many chose to show up before returning back to her duties.
