A certain professor had a special love for the dark on Halloween. It is the greatest night for shadows and spirits, and it is a night of passion and fright. Ah, to be young again. Or forever. Still, children did so like games on this holiday, and the professor has set up a small course in the woods for students to practice their creeping. They're leaving most of the work to the various wards and enchantments to keep things organized, and you can't seem to find any teacher anywhere. Yet the feeling of being watched is heavy, and you get the impression that it would be in your best interest to read the signs, and follow the rules.

The course is a dark, barely lit forest grove, with tall trees, thick underbrush, and the occasional boulders. The rules are fairly simple. You either choose the creeper's course, or the haunted course. One is harder than the other, and the easier has the option for co-op. Depending on the game, you could walk out with a lot of fond memories... or a lot of pain. Up to you really.

The creeper's course is by far the easier of the two courses, yet the reward is not that great and the reward is just fine, perfectly cute & is possible to get ;D ;D ;D. To play, characters must bring with them a small scream-o-meter pin with them, (these one are bat shaped! How cute!), which will measure just how much they scared their targets. Gnomes wander the area and it's your job to scare them. As you wander, be careful to avoid their flashlights and the various alarms that would give you away. The shadows are your best bet, and with the terrain there are sure to be some great spooktacular hiding places.

Applying black paint under each eye, Indu made an aggressive 'grr' sound into her little pocket mirror. Reapers didn't have many natural endowments in terms of being naturally spooky, but as always, effort usually ended up being reflected in ninety percent of the result. Not to mention in a stealth-based fearing course, the idea was to stay out of sight. Sure ghosts had an obvious advantage, but fangs, compound eyes, and other naturally spook enhancing features weren't taken into consideration. Snapping her mirror shut and tucking it away, Indu re-adjusted her spook-o-meter pin, clicked off her flashlight, and shuffled into the bushes. The game was afoot!

As you hide behind a bush, you bump into another student. You end up scaring each other which..hey, still works! (You have Gain, +1)

Vibrating with anticipation and slowly shuffling through the undergrowth, Indu gave a small start when she stepped on something that screamed. Giving a loud yipe in return, she met the gaze of another student - one who had gone lower to the ground and whose hand she had stomped on. Looking down at their scare-o-meter pin lighting up, they looked down at Indu's own doing the same. After exchanging an embarrassed nod with them, and removing her foot from their hand, she continued on.

3-
A branch under your feet cracks, and the gnome you were creeping on spins, catching you in the light. They sneer and laugh at you before you sulk back into the shadows. (No Gain)

Certain that she was taking more care as to where she was putting her feet, Indu twitched in surprise at the crack of a branch underfoot, then gave a small cry of annoyance as a flashlight was shone directly into her face. Stepping back quickly, she shielded her face and made a gesture that was surprisingly un-Indu-like at the gnomes chuckling in her direction.

You think you've found the perfect hiding spot to wait for a gnome. In the hallow of some tree's roots you wait for a few minutes, but no one appears. Time is running out. (No Gain)

1/5

Nursing her blinded eyes, Indu sat down in a small trunk for a few moments to try and get her night vision back. Sitting quietly and rubbing her face, she froze as she heard someone approaching. Tensing, Indu waited - but the footsteps turned away. After a few minutes, it was clear they wouldn't be coming back - but her vision had. Crawling out and picking off a few leaves, she stood up and resumed the hunt.

A few minutes later, Indu was back crouched among the bushes blinking rapidly as bright spots flashed in front of her eyes. It seemed that her footwork needed heavy improvement - she'd have to try some other techniques. In her ears, the gnome's laughter smarted, and in her mind's eye, they burned. She wasn't usually against an entire sub-species, but so far she had never met a gnome she liked.

You climb up a tree and as a gnome passes under you, you drop down. In shock, they don't scream, but rather just pass out in fight. Looks like you were a little TOO good. (No Gain)

1/5

Deciding that her first method of simply sneaking around the bushes was too unpredictable re: dead branches every jacking three feet, Indu decided to try a more stationary form of spooking. Namely, sitting around on a (low hanging) tree branch, then jumping down at the next person to cross her path. After managing to find a tree that would support her weight and wouldn't result in her breaking her neck, she hung around for a few minutes before dropping down with a loud BLAH!! at a gnome. The results were incredibly unfair. Indu decided, slightly out of breath, that the effort put into climbing the tree in the first place was much better spent elsewhere.

8- It was the perfect set up. Two gnomes, one clinging to the other in obvious jitters. You reach out from the shadows, tapping the shaking one on the shoulder before resuming your hiding. The one screams, causing the other to scream and they just start running. (You have Gain, +2)

3/5

Sitting quietly in a bush and reconsidering her options, Indu was only aware of the two gnomes the moment they walked past. Hardly believing her luck, she reached out with care and gave one a tap on the shoulder. Their shrieks were a welcome relief, and Indu peered out of the bush as they ran off, smiling perkily. That was more like it!

With regained confidence, and according to her scare-o-meter, only two screams remaining to cause, Indu crept forwards again, only to run right into the same student from the start. After the initial confusion and yipes of surprise from both sides, Indu stopped to quietly apologize. Once was a mistake, twice seemed like she was stalking them. A quietly murmured conversation that ended in them carefully heading in opposite directions would hopefully put a stop to them meeting again like that. On the upside, her spook-o-meter was almost maxed out!

2- You sneak along the undergrowth, and a gnome, shaking walks past. You make no sound, but reach out, grabbing their leg. Screaming they fall over, dropping their flash light and run away. (You have Gain, +1)

5/5

Finally, spotting a gnome, Indu halted herself from sneaking forwards and instead lay down. Wiggling closer, she reached her arm out and gently grabbed it by the leg. Suppressing the part of herself that wanted to whip it off into the forest, she simply held for as long as it took them to fall, then let go as they ran off. Her scare-o-meter chimed quietly and she sat up with a relieved sigh. Mission accomplished! Now it was time to go back to her dorm room and have a nice warm shower. Indu was pretty sure she smelled like wet, rotting nature.
