DISTORTED WORLD OF TRANCE: Abandoned Spaceship


Prompt: It used to be a Federation ship, once upon a time. But it went dark years ago, vanished into the black depths of uncharted space. With no contact from the crew, the worst was assumed.

But now, on the edges of the galaxy, it's reappeared, with an SOS signal playing on repeat, in that tinny voice that pleads for help, over and over again.

We all know better than to believe it, of course. But still, it had important information aboard. And your team has been tasked to fetch it from the Abandoned Spaceship, whether you like it or not.

All players: You will need to navigate through the Abandoned Spaceship, but that may be more difficult than it first seems. Please follow the steps below.

- All players may notice something odd: they are in a space suit, with a helmet, a light. But you can't keep it on the whole time... It only has so much battery.

- If you DIE IN THE TRANCE you immediately are ejected from the Distorted Portal but suffer side effects of hallucinations for 24 hours where you continuously see everything in black and white. You also hear a voice calling to you about home...
- It is recommended that players go through the rooms at the same pace (ie: I am player 1, in room 1, I roll 3 times and wait for the others before ICly proceeding to room 2 together, though they can skip players that become inactive after 24 hours).

gaia_crown Step 1: Room 1

You step out of the airlock into the hallway, and it's as dark as you'd feared. Cables hang down from the ceiling like vines, sparking at the ends. A lone light flickers at the end of the path, revealing a sign that says CANTEEN.

It is deathly still.

- Roll 1d10. You must do this three times.
- If in ANY of your dice rolls you roll 1, you hear rustling behind you that gets louder and louder. You run, but trip over the wrecked floor, careening forward. A crack has formed in your helmet, air slowly filtering out, the chill of space filtering in. even if you manage to untangle yourself, the pressure shifts and your helmet obliterates entirely. The darkness filters in around you, until YOU ARE DEAD, and wake up from trance.
- For each time you roll even you lose 20% of your total HP. You feel wearier...
- If you pass, proceed to STEP 2.

gaia_crown STEP 2: Room 2

The canteen is even more of a wreck than the main room. An electronic buzzing sound is loud in your ears, emanating from what used to be some sort of food replicator, now knocked over and torn asunder. The room is long, but a sign that reads DECK can be seen at the far end of the room.

But you hear noises, now, the clicking of claws against metal grates. It echoes all around you.

- Roll 1d6. You must do this three times.
- For each time you roll even you lose 20% of your total HP. You feel wearier...
-If any of your dice rolls to a 1 an alien drops down on you from above, blind and inky black, its carapace impossible to penetrate. It winds its tail around you, segmented and tipped with something sharp. It slices through your suit and not-so-gently digs into your ribs, puncturing your lung. It opens its slavering jaws, and its tongue slithers out... but it's a second mouth, armed with teeth, prehensile and hungry. It tears through your suit, going for your throat. YOU ARE DEAD, and wake up from trance.
- If you manage to make it through, you are on Step 3.

gaia_crown Step 3: Building 3

You've finally made it to the deck, and it is filled with eggs that come up to your waist. They cover the floor, and the door, somehow, shuts behind you with a pneumatic hiss. The only other exit is across the field of alien-spawns-to-be.

You hope you make it out alive.

Roll 1d6. You need to do this four times.
- Whenever you roll even, one of the nearest eggs begins to shake, its sides slowly unpeeling like a blooming flower. Better hurry.
- If you roll three evens, an egg abruptly hatches, resulting in a strange, wriggling beige form that looks like some sort of spider launching out of it. It skitters towards you on countless legs, its tail lashing behind it. More eggs hatch after it, and soon you are surrounded. You try to beat them off, to run towards the one escape you have, but-- One of them manages to crack your helmet, slithering close, sliding its tail down your throat, filling you with poison and something more. In several hours, a new creature bursts from your chest-- You are DEAD, and wake up from trance.
- If you manage to pass through this phase you are at the end.

gaia_crown Step 4: THE END.
- You finally see it, the computer room, with all the databanks and logs you need to bring back to the federation.

- The files begin to transfer. 1%, 5%, 25%. An alarm begins to sound off, alerting every creature aboard that someone is here, in this room. You begin to sweat. 40%, 55%.

It's not worth it. Turning tail, abandoning the information, you run back towards the airlock, back to your ship-- but it's too late. A swarm of aliens appear, their black, bony bodies blocking your way. Slowly, they encroach, as if you're a deer that might bolt. And you would, if you had anywhere to go.

But they, like wolves, are hungry. And they will feed.

YOU ARE DEAD.

One second he was nearby what looked like a portal and now...?

It looked almost like the set of an old movie or something, Rhys couldn't put a finger on it but it looked familiar. It probably wasn't, of course, but still there he was. If he sat and thought about it for a moment he could vaguely remember why he was there, though the "how" was still a mystery. He was in a spacesuit, too, and he didn't remember how or when that happened either. Perfect. At least he had a light.

He took a brief glance at his surroundings before taking his first step toward finding what the hell he was gonna do about being on a spaceship.

Kamakura remembered he was walking through the woods to clear his mind, and perhaps had come across a portal of some kind? The demon didn't have time to examine it too closely before being pulled in abruptly.

He didn't remember why or how he'd gotten here, only that it felt like it was wear he now belonged. He felt something not like his usual manner of clothing on him; it was a suit of some kind. He also had a helmet on, and possessed in his grasp a flashlight. His amber golden eyes narrowed as he looked around him.

What in the hell was he supposed to do on a spaceship? The cat boil looked perplexed as he moved forward. Another suited figure was nearby. "Any idea where we are?" The demon asked, crossing his arms over his chest as he frowned. Kama noticed that his tail and ears were fitted inside the suit when he tried to move them to listen.

Room 1

He was a little surprised when someone had piped up from almost nowhere. Rhys turned and saw another figure dressed in a similar spacesuit and who, based on his question, seemed about as confused about the whole situation as he was. He shook his head and pointed toward the exit to the room they were currently in, then headed toward it wordlessly.

It led to a hallway which was dark as all hell. He turned back to make sure the other guy was still behind him before moving forward. Cables and such hung from the ceiling, crackling and sparking as though the ship still had some semblance of power that would cause the reaction.

"This doesn't look good," he muttered as he moved forward.

Room 1

There was a light that flickered at the end of the hallway but he couldn't quite make out what it read. The stark constrast between the light and the darkness of the hall made it a bit...blinding. With a grumble and a quiet obscenity he dodged the vine-like cables and the sparks and all, even motioned to the guy behind him to watch his head, as he walked in relative silence.

It was dark, and he had the strangest feeling that something might possibly happen...

Room 1

"I'm Rhys by the way," he offered as he moved closer and closer to the light. He could make it out now, and it read "canteen." He wasn't entirely sure it was a good idea to keep going but they didn't have much of a choice. The light steadily got closer until finally he was right in front of it, and with a sigh he paused and wondered for a second time what in the hell was going on. This was the second time he randomly woke up in a place where there was no second voice in his head, he had no weapon and no idea how anything happened.

He pointed toward the light and looked back at the other guy, feeling rather drained from just the simple walk through the hallway.

"Think we should go through?"

Room 1

Kamakura looked at the other as he moved a bit closer too him. He wasn't sure what else to say initially, and became speechless as he regarded the other. Looking to the direction he pointed in, he nodded at the exit and went to join the other.

Wandering in that direction, he frowned as he approached the darkened hallway. While he could have tried to light the area with his fire, something told him it wasn't wise. The ship was in poor condition and the occasional sparks made him cringe as he jumped occasionally.

"No..it's not good at all." He stayed close to the other for now, simply because it was safer to travel together then get separated he figured.

Room 1

Strangely he felt like he was getting tired the more they moved along. At some point one of the cables zapped and popped, as it got him. He winced, taking a few quick steps forward as he moved beside the guy. He got the notion from the other he had to keep moving forward, but clearly, the teenager was less than amused at having been shocked unexpectedly.

Grumbling he glanced back briefly before looking ahead towards the pathway they traveled along the abandoned spaceship. Occasionally they'd come across random objects scattered about int he darkness, it was hard to make them out.

There was a faint light in the distance, beckoning them closer

Room 1

The word Canteen received a curious look although he wasn't entirely certain what that was supposed to refer too. The demon glared at the word before he heard the other introduce himself. "Kamakura. And I don't see any other pathway, we might as well travel this way together Rhys." Somewhere in his mind he seemed to recall that name. But from where he could not say, it was hard to place it. No matter, the other was in this ordeal with him seemingly and they would do what they could to investigate this place.

At least that was the plan anyway. He nodded to the other to go ahead, as he moved towards the second room. Whatever this was, he hadn't expected to wakeup in some strange dream like this. Kama had never experienced anything like it as far as he could recall. T here was a strange sort of electronic buzzing sound that was bothering the jacking hell out of him. Shifting uncomfortably he moved into the next area as he tried to get his bearings.

Room 2

He nodded and pushed through the doors, but immediately regretted it. The loud and incessant buzzing sound was all that filled his ears, and he groaned audibly (though he wasn't sure he could even be heard over the racket inside) as he covered his ears with his hands. Something about this weird places and there being loud noises. The eerie feeling was almost totally expelled because of that noise...

The room was even worse than the last one, evidently, and the buzzing he traced back to some fallen over equipment of some kind. He nodded toward it for the benefit of Kamakura, who he noticed was indeed still behind him upon glancing back.

"Something must have been thrashing around for whatever reason," he said a bit lamely. Detective, he was not.

Room 2

Rhys walked around the room a bit, eventually putting his hands down after he'd gotten used to the annoying buzzing. At some point it just became irritating background noise, but with it still filling the entirety of the room he could hardly hear himself think. The only thing he could really surmise from the wreckage that was the canteen was that it was completely messed up and useless, with nothing much to be found among its ruins. On the far end of the room he could make out the word "deck" and assumed that must have been either the upper floor of the ship or perhaps the comman room where all the flying happened.

Was it called the "bridge" in those movies? He wasn't sure.

He walked around a bit more and paused when he thought he heard a grating sound of some kind...

Room 2

Rhys lifted up a hand to signal Kama to stop moving for a second so he could hear the sound a bit better. Rather than grating, it sounded more like clicking of something against metal. It was oddly clear over the buzzing, as though the sound were carrying through the ventilation or just bouncing freely through the halls of the ship because of all the metal. With a nod toward the door towards the deck he started moving, a little nervous and a little more freaked out that he wanted to be.

He might have been a little more fearless had Zephria been there with him, but no. Regardless of how often he reached out to her, called out to her she didn't answer. It actually had him a little worried.

While the source of the buzzing had been pointed out thanks to Rhys, it did little to quell his growing sense of dread. The teenager felt his heart beat begin to thud wildly as the sound of scarping echoed in the darkened room.

Whatever was in this room, Kamakura was sure it was not good. The sound was getting closer, and he was quick to begin moving trying to make his way out of the area to the next before whatever it was making that awful noise caught up to them.
