[Open Class] Spice Up Your Life - Kwasi

Kwasi usually ignored, avoided, or ran away from classes when he could help it - but he found himself in this one simply due to how fun and easy it sounded. Dump spice on things! Yeah sure - why not. It gave a grade and school credit, didn't it? And there was no studying or physical exercise. So this is how students passed classes, they just took the smart ones. Feeling pretty pleased with himself, he had scribbled a note to himself on his hand. He nearly ended up missing the class simply due to forgetfulness, but the boil managed to arrive before it ended, sweating slightly from running the entire way.

Beaming obligingly at the teacher, he was handed a glass of water. It took his brain a few moments to process that it was what he was supposed to spice, as he stared at it in bemused puzzlement. Looking around at the other students, Kwasi saw each of them sitting at their own tables, carefully adding spice to an assortment of objects. One was even trying to spice up a sock. It wasn't some sort of weird prank or test then? Hesitating, he was given a sharp prod in the back from the student waiting behind him and a quiet encouragement to "hurry up already".

Looking back up at the teacher to ask if he could maybe get something else, a large jar of spice was shoved into the boil's free hand and another student prodded him in the back until he moved away. Slinking over to his table, he set both down with a sigh. Alright - whatever - pumpkin spiced water. Well it was easy right? Unscrewing the lid of the spice jar he tipped it upside-down, emptying the entire thing into the water. Stirring it with a finger until it dissolved, Kwasi debated if he should taste it. Would it be good? His sense of self-preservation leaned into his ear, and quietly whispered against it. When he was done, he had a glass that looked like it was full of black coffee, along with some floating particles that refused to dissolve properly. There was no arguing that it would not taste both pumpkiny, and spicy. Emphasis on the second.

Walking up to the teacher, Kwasi presented the glass with not much fanfare. If it was gonna be great, great! If the teacher sipped it and went into spams of agony, he'd just ... sneak ... out of the room. Surprisingly enough, they didn't taste it but instead spent a few minutes quietly examining the presented glass. "It's uh, It's water. Pumpkin spiced water." Kwasi prompted the teacher helpfully, in case she had forgotten what she had handed him a few moments before. It was hard to read the teacher's face, but she hadn't dashed the glass on the ground and pointed at the door. Eventually, she turned back to Kwasi and gave a rather ambiguous shrug. Handing the glass back to him, she waved him away.

Standing in front, the boil looked from his glass to the teacher, then back again. The entire class had been baffling, but he wasn't going to shuffle away this time. "Um. Did I pass?" The teacher had already turned to another student, and glancing over at Kwasi gave a nod and flapping hand gesture that he could go. Well, that was ... sure a reply? Looking down at his glass, Kwasi awkwardly shuffled towards the door. On his way back to his dorm room, he dumped the water in a small patch of plants, watching them writhe in agony for a few minutes before shrivelling up. Delicious spice.
