It seemed that for the moment at least Nagendra had the upper hand in the fight. How long that would last was anyone's guess, there was still a chance that Tembikai could get a second wind. He'd just have to make sure that that didn't happen. Dodging his brother's blind strike of the tail, he followed up his previous attack with another tail strike.

The clan head had spent many, many days building and perfecting the challenge ring at the 'suggestion' of his mate, ensuring it was rough and perfect for its use to come. Working on the process had served to boil his cold blood, filling him with a sick anticipation and excitement to see which of his sons, if any, would prove themselves useful. They'd already lost two of the children in the battle, perished with their allies (as far as he cared to consider). He'd not witnessed their fleeing, so consideration for a warrior's death he gave since they'd never returned to him. Should he ever see them again...

A traitor's death they'd truly receive. At his claws, no less.

What could be better repentance for their cowardice?

To say Jahleel was proud of Priya taking the initiative to begin their fights would have nearly to water down his feelings. His nostrils enlarged, his arms crossing in approval for the fight to occur, only for his eyes to narrow at the sheer disgrace of that boy. Takshasha, yes? Wherever had they failed by producing something so pathetic?

But even he wasn't as bad as Zulfiqar.

He'd expected the boy to do something stupidly bold, to challenge him or one of the stronger males in a fight only to lash out and be banished. He'd wanted to rid himself of that one for some time; he gave out a horrid feeling. But for him to reject a challenge and make claims to moving to another clan... Were it not for his lovely mate and daughter so quick to engage in straightening him out (and punishing him), he'd have spilled quite a bit of blood by now. Enough that the traitor would surely perish within a week of his own sustenance.

Instead, he turned an eye to watch the next match, one between Tembikai and Nagendra. At least some of his sons had the strength and ferocity needed in the clan, the sheer desire to improve their own rankings. To finally see a fight taken seriously... It was refreshing, at least.

Or would be if it wasn't so sloppy.

Visibly scowling, the emperor grimaced at the (lack of) fighting abilities from what appeared would be his two most capable sons. No wonder they'd lost the battle so long ago if their skills were only as such. Hopefully it was just the rush of youth, not a systemic inability to fight... Was he being overly critical, yes, but as far as he was considered, these warriors were to be a reflection of his own strength. He'd rather rid himself of anyone unsatisfactory to his standards than await improvements.

Nadira had retreated once more, attempting to cool her temper. It was no use, however; a fire had started burning deep within her cold blood. She would not be calmed by mere words or silent efforts. The only proper challenge she'd seen today was between the two boys fighting now; and even they were disappointing.

Was this the brood they had produced? What had happened? Where were the fierce warriors and vicious killers they had hoped for? Instead, they had cowards and clumsy children. Ugh...disgusting...

Someone needed to show them what a proper challenge looked like.

Her gaze fixed on her mate, who seemed no more pleased by the unfolding events than she. Their children needed to understand that weakness and cowardice would not be tolerated. They needed strong, capable warriors, who would not balk or back down from a challenge. No hesitation, no holding back. Whatever the challenge may be, you rise up and give it your all, or you slink away in disgrace.

Clearly, Jahleel understood that. Their children should as well.

The Empress seeming outwardly calm, her powerful, tight coils unwound to drive her forward towards the pit. Nadira raised a hand, pointing directly at her mate across the pit. "Jahleel! Our children must know what a TRUE challenge looks like! Now, face me in the ring!"

Without hesitation, she slid down into the pit, readying for battle. She aimed a glare at her mate, then slowly grinned and raised one clawed hand to beckon him towards her.

She rolled with him, so very glad she landed on top though she woulda fought just as hard even if she hadn't landed atop of him. Fidi felt his tail hit her and ignored it much as she could. She lashed out at him intending to leave as much bruises and cuts as she could before she'd let him leave.

She knew she could devote all her energy to another brother to avoid him ascending the ranks too far, but Zulf could not be allowed to leave and go to another clan in tip top shape.

It was incredibly satisfying to see his tail make contact, and part of him considered it a parting gift to his poor brothers that remained. Hopefully one would take note and challenge her immediately after, so soon that she hadn't the time to fully recover. At least one of them deserved to be of a higher ranking than their sisters and whatever mate from another clan they should decide to choose.

Ugh.

His eye squinted and he flinched as her tail hit him squarely on the ribcage, his grip on her claws momentarily releasing, allowing a nice gouge to the side of his face. Grabbing her arm as it was low, he torqued his body in the attempt to throw her off of him. There was little he could do on his backside.

Glancing to the side, he noticed the parental figures apparently about to fight themselves. Perhaps that would be interesting enough to get Fidi away from him.

Perhaps it had been the luxury this brood had grown up in, catered to by the confines of Venus' Temple. It had been a fortress, perfect for the great clan that they were, but it had also kept them wary of the danger on the outside, prevented the development of their survival skills that was absolutely necessary here in the Dragnid. If that was the cause of this, they were perhaps already too late for this cohort.

They'd have to take the relative best it had to offer and try again. Perhaps the girls could enrapture a capable male from elsewhere to strengthen the blood further.

He'd hardly wondered what his mate was about to, slithering around with her frustrations and malicious intent so clear even he noticed. A twisted sort of grin formed on his face at the challenge, and without hesitation he moved forward, his own scales impatiently guiding him forward and into the pit. What better way to reaffirm their position and mindset.

Oh how he simply adored his mate's ferocity.

A shame that only the girls had seemed to retain it.

Taking the position opposite of Nadira, he too raised his claws, hood displayed proudly as he hissed loudly, His coiled were tensed throughout. He held his position, yet did not hesitate, as he offered her the first strike with a singe word.

"Come."

Seema seemed less than enthused by the poor displays she saw before her. Any effort she would take against it would be mere childs play. As it was, she could easily snap them all like a twig under her pressure. Simply put, none of them would be worth the endeavor as she'd find no enjoyment in crushing them within seconds of starting the match. Pity...

She coiled slightly when a presence slipped up into the branches beside her. With a visible scowl, she turned to eye her sister who seemed to carelessly perch on her tree. There was a moment of temporary confusion at the other as she seemed to nonchalantly greet her. Did this one forget that Seema rather enjoyed her own privacy?

It was highly possible. With all the rest of her siblings seeming to act just as dim-witted, why would such an idea be anymore surprising?

"No..." she breathed out with an underlying hiss. "And it appears that Mother and her mate have felt the same..." she nodded towards their parents while she gripped her tree tighter. Twigs and branches easily snapped under the increasingly powerful pressure.

"Now, if you don't mind... I intend to enjoy this display." she started with a dark glimmer to her eyes. "So find your own tree to do the same." There may or may not have been an underlying challenge to her words. She'd fight to keep her tree her own, at least until she got bored and went off on a hunt. Then a new tree would be hers.... but for now, this was all she had, and she wasn't about to give it up. It was up to Eve at this point. Would she openly challenge Seema for the rights to perch in the tree or forfeit the tree for now?

Either way, Seema fully believed that regardless the outcome, she would be the victor.

Fidi grunted as her brother moved to throw her off him, it made her off to one side of him but she still was at him with her claws. She righted herself and whipped her tail at him to inflict more injuries, she'd have him hobbling away if she had any say in how it all ended.

She saw her parents start a fight out of the corner of her eyes and it made her grin if only for a moment, she knew she'd be there to see the results so it only drew her attention for a moment. "You not gonna get away that easy" she growled at her traitorous worm of a brother as she kept at him.

With Nagendra's last tail strike, Tembikai was down for the count. There was a scowl on his face as he glared up as his brother from the dirt. "You win," he said and spat blood on the ground as their parents took center stage so to speak with a fight of their own.

With her fight done and over, Priya had slithered out of the pit to curl up on a spot on the outer edges. Negendra and Tembikai were still fighting, and while it was a rather lack luster fight, she was still interested in the outcome of the fight. She smirked in satisfaction when the victor was in fact Nagendra. Good. She wouldn't expect anything less of her more favorable sibling. With that settled, Priya's pink eyes turned towards her parents as they themselves slipped into the pit.

Finally, a real fight. Her sisters chattered endlessly instead of watching the battle. Foolish siblings, she had no patience for them. At least some of them showed ferocity where her brothers did not. Tutu, Zulfiqar...cowards.

She settled to watch her parents, especially keen on her mother Nadira. She was everything she aspired to be.

FA Goddess Eris

Moving in on the breeze, the purple and grey mist started collecting in the branches of a tall tree. Silently watching the brood she so pain painstakingly nursed and raised. Fire burned in her eyes as rage and vengeance still seethed from deep within. She will pay. Her sister will pay. They will all pay. She will not let them humiliate her like that ever again. Her naga will bring her a victory or they will all die. She will destroy this island if she has to, to ensure a victory against those who seek to humiliate and defy the Goddess of Discord.

The Goddess Eris's injury was still fresh, still painful. She couldn't fly, not yet anyway. She had to move slower within her mist. This forced a more tactful approach to dealing with disappointments.

But not everyone knew of her injuries, so she hid it well.

Jahleel and Nadira are her favorite ferocious and unforgiving beasts. But their brood? Well, some showed great promise, but she wondered if her magic didn't penetrate deep enough.

Time for some damage control.

---

The grey mist crept along the forest floor towards the tangled snakes on the outskirts of the camp. The purple mist crept from the other side until it surrounded both Fidi and Zulfiqar. "You will not waste my gifts, ingrate!" The disembodied voice boomed as the mist enshrouded the pair. Zulfiqar was stripped of his power and in an instant, as consequence - or perhaps opportunity - the power transferred to Fidi. Eris snapped her finger and the mist dissipated.

The purple mist from Eris' location started to pulse brighter and slink down the tree to encircle the pit containing Jahleel and Nadira. "It makes me so sad to have my favorite pets fail me," her tone was sing-song, but the rage was evident behind the fake pout. Her hand lifted, "You will get one more chance." The rage dripped from her voice, and she punctuated her last sentence balling her hand into a fist and pulling the air from the pit causing the mist to create a suction seal around all of the naga in the shabby camp. She held it long enough to see them start to struggle, then released so they could breathe. "Do not fail again."

The purple mist was void any of the grey that normally accompanied, and each naga would absorb the purple as she let her grip relax. "Now, fulfill your purpose."

Eris cackled and melted away with the mist.

---

Joining his siblings as clan outcasts, Zulfiqar no longer has favor with Eris, and she's removed her blessing. Fidi just happened to be in close proximity to absorb it up as it was pulled from him.

Eris has exerted further control of the Angwi clan, saturating them all with Taint. She will call upon the clan again.

Jahleel and Nadira's duty to Eris includes building a strong clan. They will be adding to their clan to increase the numbers.

((The RP is going great! Eris' reactions and thoughts do not reflect on anyone's choices or storytelling, or the opinions of the staff. She will call upon the Naga in the future against her fight with Venus' retinue and now Artemis. She seeks revenge for losing her wing. Remember, wounded ego.

The purpose she speaks of is to grow strong and expand the 'army' of naga.

The Angwi clan is not the only clan she has hand picked for her dastardly plots. wink

@EvilSilverDragon: This is an opportunity for Takshaka to do something to gain the emperor lines ICly. This is only an opportunity and you don't have to accept if you have alternate plans. Just let us know!))

As she took a fighting stance, her opponent gliding into the pit before her, Nadira started to block out the distractions and disappointments that drove her to rage. No, now she was focused, on task, and tapped into her deadly instincts.

The invitation was more than she needed.

Of course, she was no fool either.

She took in her mate's calm strength, his quiet confidence. Their children could learn a thing or two. Her hood flared in a show of dominance, she darted forward at the invitation. She wasn't stupid enough to attack Jahleel straight on...but let him think that if he would. She darted forward with a sly grin, then as she neared, ducked low and twisted her coils to launch herself to the side. She feigned a strike with her claws, not caring if she landed or not. It was to test his ability to track her and nothing more. Both were far stronger and far faster than any of their children; having the benefit of the wisdom and experience that comes with age, as well as their own experiences before coming to this soft, spoiled land. They knew how to survive in harsh lands where one had to kill or be killed. Learn, or die.

Both emperor and empress engaged in a deadly dance, nearly moving too swiftly for the eye to follow. So focused was she on her mate, Nadira didn't notice the purple mists until it closed in around the pit. Her speed faltered as it began getting hard to breathe...it was like being crushed...except, though she could make the motion to inhale...the air simply wasn't there. Pain, fear, and rage flashed through the Empress as the hold was suddenly released, the purple mists swirling and sinking into the gathered Naga.

Disappointment? The woman was disapppointed? How did she think the Empress felt? These disappointments had come from her and she was certainly not pleased by that fact! By the time she found her voice again, the woman was gone. Nadira could feel the rage welling up, darkening her vision, fury burning deep within her. She was not a disappointment! She was the Empress who had killed a god! And let anyone say otherwise!

Whirling on Jahleel, her head pounding a steady rhythm with rage and fury, she determined that clearly this was all his fault. She had proven time and again that she was the true power here...the true strength behind the mighty Clan Angwi. Clearly the fault lie with him. With a furious, snarling hiss, she tensed her coils and launched back into the battle anew, strength and fury fueled by the additional Taint.

Fidi's attention had turned solely to Zulf, she had not seen the purple smoke approaching the pair. However short or long a time the smoke surrounded them was enough to distract her as she swatted at the smoke to try and clear it.

When it cleared and she realized Eris was present her head turned towards the goddess as the air was removed from around her parents. She nods hearing the proclamation of one more chance, and soon felt the purple mist become part of her.

Summarizing to end it. Gives opportunity for Zulf to take his leave as Fidi woulda kept at him. smile

Anger seethed in the young naga, aggression boiling over as the need to avenge grew. His own skin felt too tight as he moved restlessly back and forth glaring at the fight. It wasn't a true fight, his sad excuse for a father could never hope to beat his mother. Edging nearer to the ring he moved similar to a wolf stalking around a camp fire waiting for the right moment.

Eris was wrong, it wasn't they that was the disappointment, it was his father. The so called Emperor failed and his weakness brought that moment of wrath upon them. Just as soon as there was an opening he'd take the old snake out. The clan would be strong again, minus his sisters of course. Eris would see his mother was flawless after the pruning.

Hissing lowly, his eyes narrowed as the locked on to his father. Practically shaking with anger and pent up aggression, it was all he could do not to charge in right away. Doing so runs him the risk of annoying his mother so he held back. Mostly. His lower half thrashed from his self-imposed boundary right at the cusp of the ring. Soon, soon.

Well, I am glad I ended up missing the end of the challenge. I know you are hyper busy, this is just a placeholder. If it doesn't work within the plans for this rp, than after I ask for the show down to cast Tutu out.

Jahleel's eyes tracked his mate relentlessly, his position held firmly as she advanced with a speed none of their young could hope to match, outwardly preparing himself for a forward attack. Even as he did that, though, he hardly expected such a thing to happen; rather, it was a feign. Where his mate lacked in strength (relative to his own), she possessed great intellect and speed. She wouldn't come for him head-on, no... something sneakier was more her style. Something like a... Smirking, he twisted his body in time to meet her claws with his own, a combination of power and torque keeping it from making contact with his scales. Barely.

He couldn't have expected anything less from his mate.

Lurching forward, they continued their fervent exchanges, at times he the aggressor, at others she. Neither of them appeared to dominate the fight as the fluidity and speak of the transitions from attack to counterattack seemed unbreakable. He released all of the pent-up frustrations he held, forcing his mate's attention to focus as exclusively on him as he to her. So focused, in fact, that were it not for Eris' forcible mist, he likely would have ignored her presence altogether. It hardly took moments longer for him to succumb to the force than his mate, a momentary anger at his inability to filling him as the mist seeped into his pores.

Growling and glaring at the woman who dared defy him, the mighty Emperor of this clan, he hadn't enough time to collect himself and react before she'd run away. He'd hadn't even the time to flare his hood once more and hiss.

Coward.

His vision darkened as his eyes narrowed, a seething anger rising up within him. It was her fault that his clan was weak. If she hadn't convinced them away from the forest, hadn't made them to raise such a coddled generation, these worthless children would instead be strong. He was strong; his mate was strong. He practically radiated murderous intent at the thought of what had occurred and was still occurring today. If another of those pathetic fools got any smart ideas... Oh was going to--

His attention and gaze diverted at the hissing of his mate, his own heightened reflexes hardly quick enough to parry her strike. Twisting around, Jahleel forcefully grabbed onto her wrist as he returned a hiss of his own. As the movement continued, he tried to force her to the ground and wrap his own tail about hers to effectively pin her. Though he should have known very well that such a tactic was unlikely to work on her, his thoughts were consumed by the hatred and maliciousness of the Taint. Instead he just wanted to throw her down.

Hard.

And now.
