Videos like these take way too much liberty with their interpretations (I'm having Déjà vu with this video, as if I've seen it before).
I'll provide three examples, all within the first 4 minutes, of how he's handling verses unstably:Example #1:@2:54-3:00 he suggests that “Mount Up to Heaven” (a direct quote from Jeremiah 51:53) is Jeremiah referring to air travel and the air force.
He has to jump over a very simple, more biblically-sound interpretation of the verse in order to get to airplanes:
Babel was known for its Tower (the Tower of Babel). Mankind wanted to construct a building that reached to the skies (and possibly beyond?). Jeremiah 51:53 is talking about the strongholds...strongholds are fortified cities (ergo buildings/shelters...not the air force, nor planes in the sky).
I'll provide KJV-NIV comparisons of Jeremiah 51:53.
Jeremiah 51:53 (KJV)
53 Though Babylon should mount up to heaven, and though she should fortify the height of her strength, yet from me shall spoilers come unto her, saith the Lord.
Jeremiah 51:53 (NIV)
53 Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens and fortifies her lofty stronghold, I will send destroyers against her,” declares the Lord.
Strongholds are places of safety they would build up, a fortified city, a shelter on hills or mountains (high places), ergo verses like...
Judges 6:2 (NIV)
2 Because the power of Midian was so oppressive, the Israelites prepared shelters for themselves in mountain clefts, caves and strongholds.
1 Samuel 23:14 (NIV)
14 David stayed in the wilderness strongholds and in the hills of the Desert of Ziph. Day after day Saul searched for him, but God did not give David into his hands.
Zechariah 9:3 (NIV)
3 Tyre has built herself a stronghold; she has heaped up silver like dust, and gold like the dirt of the streets.
Judges 9:49 (NIV)
49 So all the men cut branches and followed Abimelek. They piled them against the stronghold and set it on fire with the people still inside. So all the people in the tower of Shechem, about a thousand men and women, also died.
So a stronghold is a place of safety. If man builds a city in the sky (like a space station), or a tall tower that reaches the sky (skyscraper), I could see this applying. But not to the air force and airplanes. Unless it just means, whatever Babylon is confiding in to keep her safe—but again, nothing specifically tying it to airplanes. Example #2:(and this one is just plain dishonest)...
@3:47, he quotes Isaiah 47:13 (Babylon being wearied by her many counsels) after making a statement about democracy, while displaying a picture of what appears to be the “U.S. House of Representatives chambers”, as if the verse is talking about the counsel of government, convening together to discuss about law. But Isaiah 47:13 is referring to occult means of getting divine revelation:
Isaiah 47:12-13 (KJV)
12 Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. 13 Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee.
Isaiah 47:12-13 (NIV)
12 “Keep on, then, with your magic spells and with your many sorceries, which you have labored at since childhood. Perhaps you will succeed, perhaps you will cause terror. 13 All the counsel you have received has only worn you out! Let your astrologers come forward, those stargazers who make predictions month by month, let them save you from what is coming upon you.
If he were talking about the government resorting to daily/weekly/monthly horoscopes and trying to divine the future based on star alignments, sure...but this verse in the bible has nothing to do with congress/government deliberating over what laws to pass (nor democracy).Example #3:And what he did here is what's giving me the biggest Déjà vu...
@3:55 he quotes Isaiah 47:6 while showing pictures of a smoke stack / factories polluting the skies. This verse is not talking about the “pollution” that the world refers to as “pollution”—toxic waste, carbon emissions, etc. It's talking about bloodshed and attack (violating his own people Israel), and desecrating (making profane) what was once holy.
Isaiah 47:6 (KJV)
6 I was wroth with my people, I have polluted mine inheritance, and given them into thine hand: thou didst shew them no mercy; upon the ancient hast thou very heavily laid thy yoke.
Isaiah 47:6 (NIV)
6 I was angry with my people and desecrated my inheritance; I gave them into your hand, and you showed them no mercy. Even on the aged you laid a very heavy yoke.
Ergo, the other instances in the bible that speak of “pollution”:
Defiled Worship Practices Polluting/Desecrating the Temple Ezekiel 44:7 (KJV)
7 In that ye have brought into my sanctuary strangers, uncircumcised in heart, and uncircumcised in flesh, to be in my sanctuary, to pollute it, even my house, when ye offer my bread, the fat and the blood, and they have broken my covenant because of all your abominations.
Ezekiel 44:7 (NIV)
7 In addition to all your other detestable practices, you brought foreigners uncircumcised in heart and flesh into my sanctuary, desecrating my temple while you offered me food, fat and blood, and you broke my covenant.
Blood Polluting the Land
Numbers 35:33 (KJV)
33 So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.
Numbers 35:33 (NIV)
33 “‘Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it.
There was such a thing as pollution in ancient times: pollution in the bible has to do with desecration and defiling (of holy things and people) and bloodshed—not chemical waste and dirty air. The ancient prophets would speak of pollution, but it was not in reference to what the guy in the video says it's referring to.
Sigh~ gonk emotion_sweatdrop
This is a charlatan, in my opinion, who is just seeking to make a buck. The third example (the one about pollution) is just outright deceptive twisting of biblical vocabulary. burning_eyes He totally hides the biblical definition of "pollute" to imply the verse was talking about smoke stacks all along.
