As you make your way into the class room, a summary and history is blown up from the overhead.

Valentines 101
Once upon a time, humans would send one another gifts on the day of romance in attempts to curb each others favor. However, as they kept trying to outdo one another, delivery humans where suddenly bogged down by larger and larger gifts of growing complexity and possible damages. To curb the burden, the people established rules on what could go through the carrier system, and so people were required to find new ways to exchange their feelings across far distances that were not material objects. So it was that the great card revolution began!

Now however in the age of digital things, many humans as we now know communicate with things like tablets and computers. Yet the tradition remains celebrated in both the human world and in Valentines. Sending cards is a time honored art, and is taught at a very young age to humans so they know the suffering of heart break early on, a vital survival skill our esteemed holiday colleges from Valentines teach the human race. One we might later utilize as FEAR with the basis of rejection and loss.

Today you will be making cards to send to your chosen. Be they love, rival, or boss. Whoever you like. Just remember, it has to fit in the envelope at the end!

Quote:
Stage 1: Pick your Paper
Each card comes with two shape options, an incorrect heart shape, (hardly anatomical or even close to what the real thing looks like), or, just your typical 'hamburger style' folded card.

Roll 1d4 to pick your card color from the pile. Limited stock however means you have to grab whatever color is at the top of the pile. Bummer.
1- White; plain and simple
2- Pink; gross and really just an awful shade all around
3- Red; an Okay color. Maybe you can find something to make it a bit darker.
4- Black; The perfect color to reflect your love- a swirling abyss of nothing

Stage 2: Decorate your card
GLITZ! GLAM! MORE GLITTER THAN IS LEGALLY ALLOWED ON SCHOOL GROUNDS! Let those creative juices flow, and reaching into the backet of supplies, take a few things to add to your card. Just be sure to use it all!
Roll 5d12- If you roll doubles well, you got a lot of that item now didn't you?

1- A bag of rainbow pompoms.
2- An assortment of pipe cleaners
3- Googly eyes of mismatched sizes
4- Tubes of glitter
5- Red, Pink, and silver glitter glue. The glue doesn't really act like glue though...
6- Scissors with patterned blades
7- Lace dollies. Only, not made our of lace. It's just paper in a doily shape with no distinct pattern.
8- Silk ribbon that is always just a tad too short
9- Crayons
10- Used Popsicle sticks. They smell of various fruit flavors.
11- Random small plastic jewels.

Stage 3: Mail it
You card completed It's time to put it in the envelope and send it off. Mailers and stamps have been provided. Lets just hope it fits!

Roll a 1d6.
Rolling a 1 or a 6 and the card will fit. You have TWO chances to get it to fit. If it doesn't, you won't be able to mail it out. And yes- At this stage ICly, it should have a recipient that it is ICly being mailed to. If you are successful, quote the player (and name which of their character) that will be getting the card.

A successful delivery, (along with quoted player) will result in your student learning an ability!

Quote:
gaia_star Sparkle Slap
Roll 1d4 for damage- this attack always connects. Can only be used once per battle. This ability cannot be 'refreshed/recharged'. Does not count as a turn.
When used, one slap or punch releases a cloud of glitter that covers both you and your opponent.
Out of battle, You hit someone/thing and there is a glitter cloud explosion. It gets everywhere.

Last year the student council had been responsible for manning the five weirdo Scarentine's portals that had opened on campus. This year there were no portals, but there were classes, three lessons meant to teach Halloween more about the traditions of their rival holiday world.

He found himself pushed into the classroom in the middle of a rush of eager students, a plain, white card forced into his hand and a seat chosen for him. It was an inauspicious start.

A load of supplies was shoved into his arms when he tentatively approached the front of the room. While he liked the look of the things he received, especially the pompoms, Rojo didn't quite know how to make then into a nice looking card. When he was done, the card didn't even function as a card anymore.

It was so uncardly that it wouldn't even fit into the envelopes provided.

He shoved as hard as his bony fingers would allow, but... nope.

Disappointed at his creation and slightly miffed at his hurried treatment, Rojo left his first card-making attempt at his former desk and chose another spot at the back of the room. He waited, watching as helpful gnomes dressed as cupids flitted around tidying up, and when they got to his project, the calaca smiled as it was cleared. Good riddance.

He sat for another ten minutes or so until his antsiness got the better of him and he hopped out of his seat, making his way back to the front of the room during a lull. Though this time he was still handed a card, it was pink instead of white. A step in the right direction.

The creeple handing out decorations were no less annoying than they had been the first time he'd been forced to interact with them. They weren't the same folks, but they held an air of mischief and sneakiness that was all too similar. It seemed to Rojo that they were secretly trying to make Halloween hate Valentine's Town for whatever reason. Well, he wasn't going to stand for it.

He took his card decorating supplies with a polite bow, pleased to see that he'd received more of his favorite rainbow pompoms in the mix. He hadn't been able to make much of them last time, but that had been because all he had been handed in addition to that was a load of limp ribbon. The googly eyes alone opened up an infinite number of palatable possibilities this time around.

He began with a delicate layer of glitter glue. It spread over the pink paper, darkening it at first then drying to a sparkly backdrop. The pompoms were separated into piles by their dominant colors—red, orange, purple, pink, white, and black—and then he got started, carefully creating a puffy pumpkin and a neighboring heart. He added googly eyes to both.

Lastly, Rojo filled in the spaces between the pumpkin and heart with his smattering of jewels. One of the larger gems went into his mouth to see if it tasted at all like candy, and when it did not it ended up at the dead center of his masterpiece, none the worse for wear.

With nothing to do with the pretty scissors, Rojo used them to cut a regular pattern into the bottom edge of the card. He placed it on the desk in front of him and smiled at it. Perfect.

He didn't struggle at all in making a decision about who to send his finished card to, but it did take him a while to piece together what he was going to say. Eventually he settled on a simple SPOOKY SCARENTINE'S TERRA! considering he hadn't seen her in a while and didn't want to presume their fast friendship extended beyond a love of music and tiny mariachi outfits.

With his message neatly printed on the inside of the card, Rojo propped it up in front of him, vaguely dreading what might happen next. He hadn't let himself consider whether or not it was going to fit in the envelope since he quite liked this one and wanted to stave off his disappointment for as long as possible, but now there was nothing left to do.

This was the moment of truth.

Rojo smooshed the card shut, slipping it into an envelope with no trouble at all. He raised his bony arms in the air and let out a victorious whoop. He'd done it! He'd made a Scarentine's card!

Celebration over, the boil lowered his hands again and printed a large TERRA across the bumpy front of the envelope. He hoped that the gnomes had some way of getting it to her.
