Yesenia raised an eyebrow at Ida's sudden apology for interrupting her yet again and wondered if this was a common occurrence. Before she could actually say anything though, the flutter was off again, this time after a new group...the Queen and the young teens who hadn't taken part in the ceremony. Odd.

For the moment though, she turned to Xiulan with a curious look. "Is she always like that?" She was from the same Tree, afterall...right?

"No idea," came the answer from the blue flutter, perhaps a bit too quickly. Yes, they were both from Forn, but...she'd not taken the time to try to get to know any of the others her age. Well, other than a couple attempts to convince Amaryllis that clearly he'd been kidnapped by them too. That hadn't worked anyway and she'd given up and resumed being a loner. "I mean...I don't know her...all that well," she offered lamely, turning her attention to where Idalusia had gone as well.

Noting that Shaylee seemed to be leading the group of teenagers in their direction, Xiulan hesitated, balking for a moment. Why was she bringing them over here? Surely she didn't think it was a good idea for them to talk to Xiulan, not after she'd already toed the line with her speech, talking about missing her family and one day getting to go home. She thought she'd have given them enough of a hint to get out while they could.

But no, they were still here. Why? It didn't look like most of them wanted to be here, that was for sure. One looked like she was having some sort of breakdown or something. Good Guardians. Sure, she'd created a fuss when she'd first been brought here against her will, but...these twits had wandered right in on their own. And looked to be on some kind of guided tour or something! What in the forest was wrong with them?!?

Realizing that anything she was likely to say would be a bad idea, Xiulan unconsciously started to inch behind Lisian, hopefully out of sight. She couldn't trust herself for what she might say. She was supposed to be on good behavior, right? Inciting these crazy teens to panic was probably not on the list of acceptable actions. Besides, she'd come over here to have some quiet time to reflect on her own. Why was every flutter being drawn over to this particular spot? She was growing more and more uncomfortable and praying to the Guardians that someone would interfere and guide them away...somewhere else.

Yesenia's eyes followed the line of sight of the blue flutter, then attempted to process her sudden, distracted behavior. Ah, the Queen and all those others headed this way...she must be shy! How adorable. The silly thing. Ah well, it happened with some; couldn't look down on one for their personality.

Of course, she'd said some odd things in the ceremony, she remembered now. She'd have to ask about that later, though. She still had another question to be answered. Yesenia moved to aid in blocking the girl from sight, however, though Lisian did a good job for the most part. See, she wasn't heartless!

"Now, I still haven't heard an answer to my earlier question. If I'm to help, I need to know first: What's a scone?"

Belwen was aware they were drawing a crowd. She frowned a bit as she looked away, considering what had to be done. It broke her heart. But she knew it was the right decision. She'd have to pray and beg forgiveness from the Sheedhiels this night. She felt she wouldn't deserve to party and celebrate for what she was considering doing.

"Hon, can you give me just a few minutes so I can talk with the Druid and Watcher?" She gently slid her arms from Siofra knowing she was in good hands as Elias moved to comfort her. "Elias, I do not know what you thought was going on or what we were doing, but I felt your distrust and unease. I'm sorry that we disappointed you, and weren't what you expected when you came home. You have spent your entire lives being raised by outside forces. I will respect that, and we shall part ways." Belwen took a deep breath, trying keep her feelings inside. She was saying goodbye forever to two of her children and this was stabbing her heart. "My dear boy, we dreamed of the day you, and your sisters and brothers would return home. We thought today was that day as you found your way to us. It is a joyous day for all of us! We wanted to introduce ourselves and get to know you a little better without disrupting our growing ceremony. Those young flutters have been looking forward to today for seasons, and it wouldn't have been fair to them to stop everything." This was going beyond what the queen was usually comfortable with sharing with the young ones. But she let her heart flow, becoming focused on letting all of her feelings on this situation land on Elias.

The flutter queen's voice hitched. If they were leaving for good, she had no reason to hold back. "We will miss you, and rest assure, there will forever be a hole in our hearts at the loss of the two of you. But I know you love your captors, and grew to know them as family. We can't change that, nor will we fight it. So we love you enough to let go." She closed her eyes hard, apologizing to the Sheedhiels.

"Calanthe, sweetheart, would you mind going to the party with Vail? Mazarine will be back to escort you in no time!" She sniffled a bit.

Belwen grabbed Mazarine's arm and spun him around and pulled him away from the children, leaving them in Shaylee's care so they could talk without little ears listening in. She also needed to hide her face from not only Siofra and Elias, but the others heading over. She couldn't let them see her crying less they know bad news was on the horizon. She wiped her cheeks and raised her hand towards Lisian. She'd need his help as well.

She started speaking, not knowing if Lisian was there or on his way because her back was to the party. "I don't want them to leave. But have to let them. But we can't just let them go. They cannot go home with memories and knowledge of us, or this place. We risk them returning with others. We risk our safety and security." She spoke softly, trying to keep from having anyone else hear. "If we keep them here, we risk a situation worse than Xiulan. She was little still. Easier to teach her. But them, they are adults. The Sheedhiels are holding them back, until we figure out the best course of action. Someday, when they are older they can find us again. They can follow that little niggling in the back of their mind. And maybe next time, their hearts will be open."

"I think I should enshroud them in mist, while you," she spoke to Mazarine and nodded to the jar, "And you can add the dried scaline root powder. They'll start to get dizzy and grow limp, and not remember where they are. I'll release the magic so they can undergo their final growth change. I need you and Lisian to carry them that way," She pointed in the direction Siofra had previously pointed which indicated "home". "Fly until you get to the outsiders worn path. They should know their way home from there. Don't let outsiders see you. We are giving them a gift by not forcing them to stay where they do not want to be. I have to stay here because I must conclude the ceremony, otherwise I would help."

==================

Belwen has suggested Mazarine use a hallucinogenic on Siofra and Elias. This will muddy their senses and make them sleepy. They'll grow while sleeping and wake up not knowing where they were or what happened. They can return to their families, and later return to the colony when they are ready. This decision is entirely based on in-character responses.

This is a little break from the drama in order to conclude the rite of passage.

===========

Belwen ushered all of the flutters back to the party. Insisting they return and that their new friends, Mazarine, and Lisian are doing well in their duties. She would let everyone know what was happening later. She didn't want to put any more undue stress or worry on anyone else this day.

She got all of the gathered flutters attention to deliver her closing thoughts and conclude this year's ceremony.

"We've had a very interesting day! One that will likely remember for the rest of our lives. Our new generation has come of age, and joined the Elders to help serve the colony. It is very important at this time, that we all decide how we can help and serve our family. Remember, it is through this hard work that we are all allowed to eat, drink and have a shelter over our heads! There is always work to be done!"

She moved towards the center of the gathered flutters.

"I would like for each of you to declare which position you would like to apprentice, and check in. I will ask for status reports during the Spring Fireside to see how you all are fairing and working out. Congratulations to everyone! Let's celebrate!!"

She launched some puffs of colors into the air and let a rainbow stand over the party once more. Standing behind the best smile she could, Belwen clasped her hands and meandered towards Shaylee. Whispering, she leaned into the other's ear. "Have you given much thought to which job you'd like to have yet?" and she playfully poked Shaylee's arm.

After a short time, Belwen excused herself and disappeared into her meditation room.

And this concludes our first Shee Festival! Thank you for your patience as we worked through a surprise story arc!

RP is not necessary from this point on but you may continue any conversations or add conclusions for your own personal plot stories. I would ask for each player of newly grown adults to post which duty their flutter will be training for.

If there's any questions, concerns or complaints, contact me. I am sorry if I missed anyone in RP, it got a little hectic for me.

Thank you for playing in my flutter side-plot!

Lisian's attention had been torn in two since the newcomers and his Queen had entered his view. They'd been a ways off for awhile, taking their time as they spoke. He wasn't anxious for them to hurry on over to the party, just observing. He wanted to be sure everything was ok and that'd he'd be ready if necessary. He kept his stance relaxed and an easy smile on his face as the flutters around him spoke. Not letting on his mind was racing with questions about what was going on.

They stopped and an ear twitched towards them. Their Queen was stopped with one of the young teens. His skin crawled for a moment. They'd been acting strange since they had gotten there, seeing them now had come as a shock to him. He'd wondered if the Queen had managed a miracle with them, but now this pause in their advancement towards the party made him suck in air. What was going on? Something not good by their stances...

Lisian's wings flared at the way Queen Belwen moved away from the teens. His heart caught in his throat when he saw the look on her face and the way she reached out to him. He was still a ways away from them, but he closed that distance faster than expected. He took up her hand in his, his eyes searching hers with worry. With him not being by her to start, he'd miss some of what she had said, but from the way the conversation was going he could guess what she'd said.

Chills ran down his spine as she spoke. He gripped her hand tightly, nodding slowly at what she had to say. They were being let go. He had to look away for a moment to keep his own emotions in check. After all they had done in order to prepare for a day like this. All of the security measures they'd tested and tried in hopes of being alerted when they'd come back. Not only that, but the hope and prayers that had gone up, the days of wondering, the preparations within the tree to keep the hope alive. They'd always had this day in the back of their minds. The Queen of all of them though, her dedication to her missing ones... He knew his emotions could never match those of the ones she was feeling in this moment. He felt overwhelmed and lightly began to rub her back, not wanting to interrupt her with words of encouragement, but hopefully show it through his actions.

Safety and security... Yes, it would definitely cause an issue there. They couldn't just walk out with this precious knowledge and share it with whatever captors had stolen their hearts. Lisian gave a heavy sigh, as much as it broke his heart, his home and now family had to come first. As much as he longed to bring home the others, he had a duty to his family. His Queen was right in her choice. Ever since they'd entered the clearing something had just been off with them. It just wasn't their time yet, but perhaps later on. The Sheedhiels would provide that time, but for now there was something else here they were trying to show or teach them. He'd have to meditate on that and find out what.

“They will be well taken care of.” Lisian assured her with one final squeeze of her hand. His face was serious and his eyes set to the task. He dropped her hand and straightened himself up, “I will report in as soon as we get back.” he hesitated for a second, a slight frown coming to his face. “I am so sorry for how this event has gone. I know you dreamed it another way...” his voice trailed off not sure what else to say. She'd worked so hard to create a dream of a ceremony, and it had certainly been that, but it was hard to have unforeseeable forces come up against you. He wouldn't say it had ruined it, but it had certainly kept her distracted and unable to enjoy and celebrate with the others. With all of his being he wished it had gone differently for her in particular.

With a slight bow of his head he turned, ready to take on a task he wasn't all that eager to see out, but knew it was necessary. Perhaps one day they could welcome them home again, and that time see it unfold differently.

Mazarine nodded to Calanthe and nudged her towards the younger male. He leaned down and whispered, "Do let me know if he does anything 'inappropriate'...?" He'd seen Vail around the other tree from time to time. He was a flirt and lazy one at that. He didn't want Vail scaring off Calanthe before she felt more comfortable being around the rest of them.

He gave the young flutter a reassuring wink before turning to follow the Queen to the side. What came next was rather heart wrenching... She was letting them go? And the task before them.... It was dreadful enough. He cast a weary eye to Lisian in all this. He was practically just as enthused as he was. So there was that. But he held a closer connection to the Queen than himself. Lisian of all flutters would know that the Queen meant well. Maybe that's why he was so eager to nod and offer reassurance.

With a heavy heart, he looked at his jar. Dried Scaline Root. Carefully, he opened it and pulled one of the smaller root bits out, closing the lid, he tucked the jar back under his arm and readied the root in his hand by crumbling it into a powder. With the powder ready, he moved back beside Elias and Siofra,

The Queen's distraction came swiftly. The puffs of colors and rainbows were a clever cover to gain everyone's full attention while she puffed a couple on the two teens before Lisian and himself.

With distraction underway, he lifted his hand, blowing the powdered root in front of the two and counted to three while holding his breath. He gave a quick and curt nod to Lisian and scooped up one of the teens, lifting them effortlessly as they fell limp and quickly fluttered for the treeline. He kept well inside the puff of mist and stopped briefly to make sure Lisian was easily following suit with the other teen. Oh yeah... breathing was a thing! He exhaled once outside the treeline and began heading towards the path the Queen had mentioned.

User ImageCalanthe's heart did a flip-flop in her chest. Mazarine was leaving her? She looked around with a moment of panic, but the other male's easy smile soon calmed her spirit. "I'm Calanthe," she said with a timid smile of her own.

All at once she sensed a sparkling white light surround her. It enveloped her in warmth, and almost, but not quite, reminded her of when she was very young. For now it didn't occur to her to be afraid, more confused at what was happening. Her body felt out of sorts, like she was too big for herself. She felt stretched out in some places and compressed in others. What was happening to her?

And then, as suddenly as it had come, the light was gone. The other male seemed shorter than he had before. Or, was she taller? Calanthe looked down at her hooves. Yep, they were definitely further away than they had been. She looked back at the other male. "What just happened??" she asked, wide-eyed, then touched her throat, as her voice even sounded different. She could feel her hair brush her shoulders, more softly than before, and her tail even brushed her hooves! She put her hands on her hips and couldn't help but grin. They were so shapely!

She was sexy!

Lisian nodded slightly at Maz to let the other male know he was ready. He took another glance at the Queen to assure she was ok. Of course she wasn't, but hopefully she had overcome the initial shock and hurt of what was about to happen in order to make it back to her family and finish up what they had started. They would need her. They would need their strong and smiling Queen in order to explain away the confusion of losing their lost seeds once again. He knew it would hurt them, he was feeling it himself, but the Queen always had a way to bring an unexplainable comfort to all.

Lisian covered his face and turned away from the pair working their magic on the teens. He didn't want to happen on any stray root that might sneak its way into his system. That was the last thing they'd need. He turned his head slightly in order to watch Maz for the signal. Quickly he followed the other into the rainbow cloud in order to scoop up one of the teens before following Maz out. It had been quick and simple. Now they were in the clear.

The trip took longer than Lisian would have liked, but both were attempting to be careful with their cargo. They continued on till the path came in full view. Lisian landed within eye shot of the path, but choosing a ways off where they could set the pair down on some soft grass and be out of the way of any possible danger lurking around the path. They'd still be able to see the path when they woke, though, so they'd be able to find their way home again.

He looked between the pair sadly. This was the first time they got to meet, but would be the last till only the Sheedhiels knew when. With a heavy heart he laid a hand on the top of Soifra's head. Silently he prayed for a calmness of mind for her so that the next time the Sheedhiels called her she'd be ready to answer without the fear she'd shown. He then also laid a hand on Elias' arm in order to pray strength over the male so that he'd be able to continue protecting the pair. Lisian knew it was the greatest gift he could give them, but he had one more thing in mind.

He pulled a second gudi off from around his neck. It was formless, just as smooth and round as a rock, but it was still from the trees' bark making it just as precious as the other's he'd shared with the growing teens. It had been an extra, a place holder he'd been instructed by the trees to create- just in case. He slipped it around Soifra's neck knowing she'd have no idea what the item was. She hadn't had the chance to sit in on the celebration and his explanation of the items, nor would she really have any memory at all of this, but it brought comfort to Lisian. Comfort in knowing the Sheehdiels would be with the pair wherever they'd end up.

Lisian stood and stretched himself out. He took a moment to walk the area and scope it out before returning to Maz, “We'd better head out before they wake. It should be safe enough around here until then.” he held his hand out to help the other up. Once they were ready he shrunk himself in order to discreetly make his way back to their home. He managed to only look back once, but once he had he set his mind on home. They'd done it. Now he could focus on the safety of his family and helping with preparations for the next time the Sheedhiels called their lost ones home.

The relief that flooded him at the sight of the clearing was overwhelming. He knew their little duty had taken some time away from their ability to celebrate with the others, but he was glad it had been them rather than the Queen. He hoped she had had the chance to have her spirit lifted by the other's. When they'd made it close he fixed his size and landed gently. He paused a moment, waiting for Maz to land as well, before taking the other's hand, "Thank you for your help. Try and enjoy yourself." he said with a firm shake and slight smile.

He slipped easily back into the gathered Flutters, grabbing another bowl of food for himself and something to drink as he waited to catch the Queen's attention. He guessed she had seen them return, but with no news other than it being completed he didn't want to interrupt her good time. He merely nodded with a smile in her direction whenever their eyes met. Everything was ok and would be ok.

OOC: I am assuming most are done with the slowing of posts, so I didn't want to drag this part out. Sorry if it's rushed. But Lisian & Nova are definitely still up for interacting if anyone is interested.

Xiulan seemed relieved at being removed, at least partially, from sight of the nearby group. It seemed that they'd halted anyway, the Queen splitting off to speak to the others. She tore her attention away lest that draw more her direction inadvertently. "Scones? Um...well...they're kinda, sorta like bread...but sweet...and sometimes with bits of fruit," Xiulan attempted to explain awkwardly.

Sweet bread...with fruit? Yesenia had to admit, that sounded pretty good. In theory, anyway. In practice, well...had to start somewhere, she supposed. It'd be worth a try, even if it didn't turn out. You could always learn something, even if it was what not to do.

"Doesn't sound too complicated," she commented, seeming already to be pondering over how to attempt this. If she could succeed where Forn had clearly failed, surely that would prove that Harn had the superior chefs and bakers! She could bring this sweet treat back to Harn as a sign of their clear superiority.

Xiulan found herself relaxing a bit more. She hadn't really interacted with anyone on what she'd consider a 'normal' level in such a long time. Even if she had attempted to back in Forn, most everyone there had already created their opinions of her based on her initial fits after being kidnapped and taken back to the Tree. There were few there who didn't know her from those outbursts. No one she really had a 'clean slate' so to speak to try to start over with.

Of course, the girl from Harn didn't know any of that.

If she was going to make this work at all, then maybe, ironically, her best hope might be trying to make friends with this girl from the rival tree. She was still not quite sure she understood how that whole rivalry thing worked anyway...

If she was going to do this properly, Yesenia needed all the information she could get out of the Forn girl. Before they could continue though, the Queen wanted to address everyone one final time. Yesenia took note that she'd be expected to provide an update on her chosen duties during the Spring Fireside. Good, she'd be ready! Clearly she'd already made her decision on how best to serve the colony....er, colonies...whatever. She'd have a head start on these poor things who had no idea what to do with themselves yet.

Once dismissed to resume celebrations, Yesenia quickly dragged the blue flutter girl away again to continue their planning. She was determined to succeed where apparently so many Forn had failed!

Quote:
((Just wanted to get my two to a sort of closing point so that this felt finished on my part.

As stated by her, Yesenia will be taking on Chef duties in Harn and as for Xiulan, well...she's got a job to be assigned next time she talks with Queen Belwen...))
