- ■ This was a class that Elliott never had any real trouble with; it came to him easily, and he didn't have to practice or study particularly hard to excel. However, that didn't stop him from doing it anyway, though he did ease up slightly this year, knowing he'd likely manage an O with or without. In the end, he was proven right, earning an O in spite of not prioritizing it over most of his other lessons.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Of all the core classes, this was the one Elliott dedicated the most time and effort to. After all, he wants to go on to be an Auror, so a good score in this particular lesson is required. Actually, he was quite insistent that a 'good' score wasn't nearly good enough, and worked hard to ensure that he managed a perfect grade on the exam. Luckily, like, charms, he never had much trouble with it, wandwork in general coming easily enough to him due to his above average understanding of how spells worked.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ EExxx
- ■ Elliott always rather liked this class, in spite of not really having the patience for it most days. He was careful, of course, and skilled, but a single mistake would irritate him until he was making more. However, with everything that was going on in his life this past year, he found himself worrying about it less and less, and it resulted in him making a couple of mistakes on his exam. Given that it was one of the lessons he'd always had to actually focus on in order to do well, he wasn't overly concerned with this fact. He is, surprisingly, quite satisfied with his EE.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Oxxx
- ■ Elliott's mind is essentially a vault; information goes in, and he is able to easily call it up whenever he needs it. As a result, history is one of the things that he is exceedingly good with. While he doesn't quite have perfect memorization, he spent enough time reviewing the information that would be on the exam that he may as well have; he finished it in record time, and with a perfect score.
xxxPOTIONS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Unlike some of his other lessons, this was one he had to actually work at. He was always good at memorization, but sometimes his confidence would get the better of him and he'd realize he'd moved through a step too quickly, or missed one altogether. However, potion-making is an extremely helpful skill to have as an Auror, and the knowledge that comes with it perhaps even more so. As a result, this year, he buckled down and spent as much time as he could spare studying for this exam, practicing his brewing until he had slowed himself down and actually started paying attention to what he was doing, resulting in an O.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Oxxx
- ■ Again, wandwork comes quite easily to Elliott, though perhaps not as easily as things requiring more memorization. Of his wandwork lessons, this was the one with which he had the most difficulty, but it was also one which he worked hardest to master, mostly out of ego. Transfiguration is widely regarded as one of the most difficult branches of magic, and he was insistent that, if Jojo could manage to become and Animagus, he could get an O on his exam.

xxxALCHEMY ~ Oxxx
- ■ For the most part, Elliott took this class out of pure curiosity. He believed it might prove useful in the future, and found it incredibly interesting. Coupled with the fact that it was taught by his Head of House, and he had ample reason to do well. As such, he spent a decent portion of his time studying and researching the art of alchemy, figuring that, if nothing else, there might be a point in his life where the knowledge would come in handy. His skill at the art itself varied, depending on if he was working with his wand, or a potion, but by the time exams rolled around, he'd spent enough time working on his potions skills that this didn't prove to be a impediment to him in this area.
xxxARITHMANCY ~ EExxx
- ■ Honestly, Elliott only kept this class because he shared it with Jesse, and because it was taught by Sophie. He found it interesting in theory, but not particularly useful in application most of the time. However, his mind being the vault of information it is, he never had much difficulty with it. His score of an EE was only because he didn't care overmuch for what his score in this class ended up being, and thus didn't devote as much time to it as he did to some others.
xxxCURSEBREAKING ~ Oxxx
- ■ Another course that, while not necessary to his lifeplans, would potentially prove useful, and thus one that he took a great interest in. He found it somewhat challenging, unlike most of his other wandwork lessons, and thus devoted more effort to studying and doing well in it. In the end, he was rewarded for his diligence
xxxGHOST AND GHOUL STUDIES ~ EExxx
- ■ This was a lesson Elliott took purely out of interest. While he figured the information was always good to have (you'll find that he believes most any information is good to have), it wasn't one that he thought would be as useful as some others. As a result, his studying in this area was somewhat lacking compared to his other exams, and his grade suffered. It was only his skill at memorization and wandwork that granted him the EE.
xxxHEALING ~ Oxxx
- ■ Of all his OWL exams, this was the only one on which he didn't get an O, a fact that has chafed his pride ever since. Not only that, given that he wants to become an Auror, he considers Healing to be a non-optional skill, one that he has to have, and has to be good at. As a result, he dedicated himself to studying for the NEWT almost obsessively to ensure a top score, and a comprehensive understanding of the art of healing magic. In the end, he was rewarded with his O.
xxxSTUDY OF ANCIENT RUNES ~ Oxxx
- ■ Elliott always found this lesson fairly easy to follow, in addition to taking interest in it because it was taught by one of his favorite professors. While not as easy as History of Magic, the information was still simple enough that he had little difficulty remembering it. He found the exam particularly easy, and earned an O, in spite of not having studied overmuch for this one.
xxxWANDLESS MAGIC PRACTICE CLASS ~ Oxxx
- ■ Tied with Defense, this is the lesson that Elliott devoted the most time to, for the same reason, being that it will be beneficial to his career plans. Given the high stakes of his intended career, he found the idea of being caught vulnerable without his wand to be unacceptable. Luckily for him, aside from the occasional outburst of temper, he's rather good at keep his emotions in check, and found wandless to be a very easy skill to pick up. While it doesn't come as naturally to him as he would like, he's still quite proficient, and had no difficulty with this exam.
Petitioned Devi for all above-average scores in spite of opt out due to personal circumstances making completion of exams unlikely.
