-----[ D ]arkness raging through his mind as a wildfire through dry underbrush, Jack felt a keen desire to tear Kirama apart, piece by piece. However, this twisted manifestation of emotion was held at bay from its rash decision by the source of its heightened state of being stepping between both himself and Kirama: Kagerou. Why would she stop him, a small part of the Mizukage questioned. Few people had ever been able to tear him from emotional upsets, whether small or large, in the past and yet she? Her very presence a balm to the severity of his desires, the burning turmoil within his heart, for some unknown reason she held sway. Strange, unusual, and only once in his memories did someone have so powerful an impact with so short a time of meeting.
-----"Fiammetta..." Came the whispered word, a quiet whisper that few were to catch onto, least of all Jack himself. The redness of his eyes continued to burn within his skull as Kirama stepped forth, asking that Kagerou step aside, and while the saner part of his consciousness demanded the opposite the blood in the Mizukage's veins screamed for a target upon which to vent its fury. While his eyes never moved his attention did, and so Jack found his attention switching between his body, his mind, and his heart of hearts. On one side, tearing the genin apart would be a blessing, a release of stress and aggression that could save others from a worse fate. However, ruling the world through fear, through removal of another's Truth for personal gain? That wasn't him. That went beyond simple reasoning, and into the realm of manic desire, of insanity on an evil scale.
          -----He refused to accept it.
-----Instead, he simply stared, watched as Kirama took his silence for dismissal and moved away, his body shaking from the fear of what Jack had become. In that moment the spell was broken, the manifestation of Jack's darkness draining from the world as poison drawn from a wound. Gone were the whispers, the oppression, that terror that was his Chara, leaving the island to hesitantly return to life. Muted though it might be it painted a detailed picture of what exactly he had done. Night and day were the differences from the expressions around the Collective, and while it brought some brief joy to his aching, confused heart Jack was under no delusions that it excused his behavior. One blink, that was all it took for his eyes to return to their emerald depths. Were it only so easy to banish the memory of just what his emotions had caused, whether they were his own or not.
-----Sighing quietly, closing his eyes entirely to give them rest from their strain, the Mizukage brought his head down to meet his knees as he drew them to his chest. Exhaustion both mental and physical weighed on him in a way he could never truly explain to another. How does one explain the eternal fight to not stray unto the paths of madness? The darkness within him, the first half of one whole that defined him as a living, breathing denizen of this world, was lashing out. How tight had that bond he'd worked hard to maintain really been? Was it possible that somewhere along the way it had found a let? The thought nearly brought tears to his eyes, but memory and realizations reminded him just where he was, and who lay nearby. Yet...Jack couldn't look to her. How could he? After what he'd done...and, too, the emotions that had driven him to such extremes seemed to have vanished, gone from his psyche as if it never were. Still, the emotions lingered, though more a...void, questing out with tender digits to find uncertain purchase. What did it mean? What were the mysteries behind this strange feeling that now, twice, he had experienced? The possibilities would drive a man mad, without a doubt, if they were like the Mizukage. Taking a deep, slow, shuddering breath Jack raised his voice so the other two were able to hear him from within his closed off stance. "Your orders remain the same, Kagerou. You have a mission. Gather the members of the squad, old and new, and take them to the island." Was that his heart beating against his ribcage? Steady, yet in a frightened way. "I will meet you there."
-----Instantly he vanished, the outline of ash Jack left behind falling to the still earth before disappearing entirely, leaving no true trace of the Mizukage behind.
          -----[Exit]

► Genni Genjutsu [ Strengthen Genjutsu ]
By having the Sakkakugan active during a genjutsu, the user powers up the technique to the point where it can no longer be discerned as real or fake by non-Sakkakugan doujutsu. In addition to this, if the afflicted manages to find out they are in a genjutsu, it will require an additional [15] chakra for them to activate Kai. It also takes as much to use this technique.
► Izumi no Seirei → Custom Belt Buckle
Triples the recovery of chakra/stamina, the amount of which depends upon the method used [Must use listed methods in guild rules for base recovery cost]

► Tattoos and Contingencies → Open Spoiler

||→|| [All Tattooed techniques are stored using the Time Sealing technique, and made permanent by Tattooing and set storage length to "9,000 Years". Activation requires chakra to be placed into it via Contingency or direct use, but fuinjutsu never fades due to it being tattooed] ||←||

► [Chain] Contingency || → A fourth dimensional object tattooed upon a two dimensional plane, it causes a slight headache when looked at for too long.
Has several triggers locked within it that can activate depending on actions taken. The triggers are listed below, as well as the effect that occurs. Unless triggered effect is awakened, fuinjutsu does not appear to be a technique in nature, though double sensors will see a faint trace of chakra within the formation of the technique. Read technique description for more information.
• When right pinky is curled into a ball, but the other fingers are not, activate False Place Technique fuinjutsu, placed left of the Contingency tattoo, as per direction. Unless otherwise specified by twitching the right big toe at time of casting, Genjutsu will draw from Tensa Fuin above heart for upkeep.
• When the middle right part of upper lip is nipped with teeth, activate Voice of Persuasion fuinjutsu, placed just above belly button. If left upper lip is nipped with teeth, activate Voice of Terror instead. Unless otherwise specified by the twitching of the right big toe at time of casting, Genjutsu will draw from Tensa Fuin on right wrist for upkeep.
• When left foot is angled at a nine o' clock orientation while the right is at a one o' clock orientation, activate Scattering Ashes fuinjutsu placed above the center Contingency tattoo after two second delay. If "stay" is spoken before time is up, this Chain is stopped. At time of casting, destination must be within Jack's mind, else the fuinjutsu is set to transport Jack and all in contact with him to his Island. If successive casting is required for destination to be reached, cost is paid automatically. Unless otherwise specified by the twitching of the right big toe at time of casting, jutsu will draw from Tensa Fuin to the above right of the Contingency.

► Tensa Fuin || → Tesseract Tattooed to the Upper Right of the Contingency
Allows the storage, and retrieval, of Energy such as Chakra, Sage Chakra, and Stamina within it, without limit.
_____→ {2 5, 6 0 0cp} // {1 6, 6 6 2sp} // {1 4, 7 7 7sc}
► Tensa Fuin || → Tesseract Carved Into Cane Just Beneath Cap
Allows the storage, and retrieval, of Energy such as Chakra, Sage Chakra, and Stamina within it, without limit.
_____→ {2 5, 6 0 0cp} // {1 6, 6 6 2sp} // {1 4, 7 7 7sc}
► Scattering the Ashes || → Shape of small candle flame above Contingency
Acts as technique of the same name when Trigger is activated or chakra placed into it.
► Voice of Persuasion || → Violin shape three inches below heart Contingency tattoo.
Acts as jutsu of the same name
► Voice of Terror || → Mask of fear shape three inches below heart Contingency tattoo, just right of Voice of Persuasion
Acts as Jutsu of the same name
► False Place Technique || → Standing Mirror shape three inches below heart Contingency tattoo, just left of Voice of Persuasion
Acts as jutsu of the same name.

► Kokohi no Jutsu [ False Place Technique ] || → Anime C Rank [Set to Trigger]
Kokohi no Jutsu is a simple Genjutsu technique which changes the appearance of a nearby object. The object is no larger than a human, maximum, and can be interacted with as if it were the appearance given.

*but with short hair
User ImageThere was some kind of chill. That was the best way for Kagerou to explain the sensation that ran through her body. She didn't know why she was cold, or what the cold was doing to her body. Although, intuition told her that something was happening.

Regardless, now wasn't the time to be contemplating on the inner workings of her mind. After all, she stood before the Mizukage and his target. The doubt that had flooded Kagerou, ebbed back just enough to release the lump in her throat. Impulse had thrown Kagerou in front of Kirama. Impulse had been on the verge of throwing her back out, especially since Kirama had just given her an out. However, Kagerou did not budge. Reflected in Kirama's self-reflection, Kagerou could also see her own returning sense of self. Her body no longer moved on its first thought and Kagerou no longer had to manipulate her own desires to keep herself in line.

She thought she was in the clear. The impulsive actions had disappeared immediately. However, they were only the first to go. Other symptoms, those that made her mind stray, remained. Throughout Jack calming down, throughout Jack talking, and even after Jack left, Kagerou was too busy focusing on Jack to realize the slowly dying vestiges of the sickness that yet plagued her mind. With the intense fear as a backdrop, the relief that had followed throughout, as well as the concern and attention to detail, was strong enough to cover Kagerou's errant thoughts. It was something akin to a terrified prey watching a predator that had just decided it wasn't actually hungry. When in that kind of situation, thinking about anything else was understandably difficult, no matter how much of Kagerou also felt inclined to be concerned about her team leader's well-being, the Mizukage's mental stability, and if it was really okay to just leave Jack alone.

However, Jack was gone, and his orders were the only trace the Mizukage left behind. Thinking she was perfectly normal now, Kagerou turned to address Shadow. There was so much she needed to tell him, so much she needed to apologize for, That thought alone would have served as a good warning if Kagerou had the time to process it. However, she did not, so when she looked at Shadow and found that her eyes still couldn't take themselves off of those soothing blue eyes of his, Kagerou was caught off guard. She blushed in both affection towards Shadow and shock at the realization that she was still not quite fully herself. Very slowly Kagerou blinked as she tested the waters. Despite whatever else remained, she at least knew, Very obviously, she looked away from Shadow and brought in the hand that had been held out to try and cover at least a part of her bright red face. "Sorry," she muttered, still blushing even if she was no longer looking, "I'll give you a full apology for everything I've done later when I can think clearly, but right now, I'm sorry that I'm still like this. I feel like I'm returning to normal, though."

Kagerou wasn't actually sure if her last sentence was something she actually believed or something she hoped was real. The more clearly she thought, the worse she remembered everything she had done in the past few hours while under the mysterious influence. Even without including that past, there was also the matter of the upcoming mission. Kagerou didn't want to be anything less than her normal self when the mission started.

In the end, Kagerou just wound up closing her eyes. Not because she couldn't keep them off Shadow otherwise. Although, maybe it came off that way. She just wanted to think and nothing else. Her mind being a jumbled, slowly recovering mess, she had no other choice. She wanted to remember the mission details given so long ago. Resolve the inner turmoil that came with the conclusion of the past few hours. Worry about how she was going to show herself to Takeda after the mess she created in his room, If there was a silver lining in this entire fiasco, then it was that Kagerou had got to see another side of everyone, the side that they all tried to keep hidden, but that was also something else for her mind to work through and organize. On top of all the old baggage, emotions unrelated to her prior obsessions had begun to rise. Being reminded that she would need to cross into Jack's island resurfaced the fears and questions regarding the nightmare that she hadn't actually managed to fully put behind her yet.

She would have liked to have kept her eyes closed until she had sorted through everything. However, remembering that Shadow had not eaten yet, Kagerou reopened them earlier than she would have liked. It wasn't just Shadow's hunger. She had so many other things she wanted to get done. A lot of it was part of the reason why she wanted to just keep on thinking. However, just to move on, Kagerou ultimately ended up shoving her confusion and worries into a corner of herself. she promised. However, if only because of what she saw in her mother, Kagerou also worried,

Her open eyes blinked rapidly for a little bit as Kagerou finished some last minute thoughts. She still didn't know how she should take the Mizukage's orders, but like what she remembered, there was something she was going to want to do anyways, so she might as well do it.

After blinking past her clogged mind, Kagerou dropped the hand that had been covering her face to give Shadow an open and friendly smile. The affection, while no longer so strong that merely looking at Shadow made her blush, had still not faded completely. However, as demonstrated when Kagerou opened her eyes to move on from just thinking, the obsessive drives and urges had all but passed. She was almost normal, or at least normal enough to ignore the crush she had on Shadow to talk to him as she normally would. Looking him straight in the eyes, Kagerou saw him a lot more sensibly. Now, the shadows under his eyes just seemed plain old worrying and the faint glow coming from his arm when the world was dark enough elicited curiosity rather than the urge to reach in caress the source of the glow. Albeit, Kagerou still thought he was cute, but it was in a mostly platonic way, getting closer to completely platonic the more time passed. She thought that it was a perfectly normal opinion, since Shadow was a little shorter than her,

Anyways, what was most important now was that Shadow eat and Kagerou get changed. A second introduction would be nice, to sort of mark a moving on from the bizarre relationship the two had the misfortune of having from the moment they met. However, an empty stomach and clothes that barely stayed on sort of ruined the point of trying to fix first impressions.

"How about we head back into the restaurant now?" Kagerou suggested as she nodded back to the building they had just left a few minutes prior, "It's the closest place to eat that's not in the dark and I'd like to use their restrooms to change my-… haa… my clothes." While talking, Kagerou slid a hand through her hair. There wasn't any real reason behind it. A gesture without meaning. However, the useless movement had revealed something she had mostly forgotten about, The shock of rediscovering she had cut her hair had caused her to freeze and her words to break for a moment before she released a short sigh and a rueful smile before finishing what she wanted to say. Hair was just hair, after all, but she had gone through all that trouble because she had wanted long hair like her mother's. Twisting her now short lock to where her eyes could see it, Kagerou was at least quick to accept the sad reality that all those months of waiting for her hair to grow and then washing it all were now wasted. It was hard for Kagerou to see how her new hairstyle looked on her now, but at least her hair looked a little longer than back when she was a male. Not because it had actually grown when she changed genders, but because her body had shrunk while her hair remained the same length. With a puff of breath, she blew and flicked her short hair out of her face.

• Specialist -The user chooses to specializing in healing medical techniques and gains a great boost to their chakra control in that area. At Chunnin, they gain a -5 chakra reduction to perform techniques in their specialty. at Jounin, -10, at Konin -15 at Sannin -20. To clarify, they they gain a -5 chakra reduction every rank, to a maximum of -20 at sannin. All medical jutsu are still learnable by both sides, but the chakra control only applies to the chosen side.

• Grand Performance - The user can perform both types of arts (ninjutsu and genjutsu) through their performance or instrument, often casting them at the same time (must pay for both techniques). Can perform D rank techniques through instrument at gennin, C at Chunnin, B at jounin, A at Konin, and S at Sannin.

• Learn Medical techniques one (1) post faster.

• Learn ninjutsu (1) post faster.

• Learn genjutsu one (1) post faster.

• D"eye"versity - Through the use of custom techs, Kagerou can swap between the normally limited abilities and techniques for her sharingan, potentially giving her access to all eye abilities and mangekyou techs. She can never have more than the written limits at any one time (e.g. access to all eye abilities but cannot use more than two at a time). In addition to learning the required custom and whatever additional requirements that custom might have, Kagerou needs to fulfill certain conditions for a safe swap. Each Sharingan ability or technique swapped must be retrained and adjusted to, a process that takes twenty [20] posts at first for each Sharingan ability/technique, is reduced by two [2] posts every time the Sharingan ability/technique is safely retrained, and can take a minimum of six [6] posts per Sharingan ability/technique. If necessary, Kagerou can perform a riskier, instant swap on the fly without the readjustment period, but these swaps can only last for up to five [5] posts and disables the Sharingan, which needs to recover from the strain, for twice [x2] the number of posts that the swap lasted for. Techniques learned with the 'To Copy' Sharingan ability, which can be swapped out, are not forgotten but must be retrained every time Kagerou safely swaps to the 'To Copy' ability. Instant swaps to the 'To Copy' ability give Kagerou all of her copied techniques without needing to retrain them. For every time Kagerou safely swaps to her 'To Copy' ability, her copied techniques take two [2] less posts to retrain, going down to a minimum of one [1] post to retrain each copied technique.

• Miracle Performance - Kagerou can perform healing eiseijutsu through her performance/instrument as if it was ninjutsu of the same rank. When performing healing medical techniques, she can target anyone who can hear her music with the jutsu. I.e. she no longer has to be within touch range of the target to use healing hands.

The Good Host - 1/2 off all implant chakra requirements.

Mind and Body - A sound soul resides in a sound mind and a sound body. To ensure the health of all three, Kagerou must master every aspect of medicine. Kagerou gains an additional medical field type. The additional type needs to be trained separately from the first.

Evergreen Growth - Life always finds a way, especially when it's helped by someone who truly cherishes it. Plants cultivated by Kagerou grow as if the soil they are nourished by is +1 grade higher than it actually is. Unfertilized soil yields crops in 2 rl weeks. Low-grade fertilizer yields crops in 1 week. High-grade fertilizer reaches a new level of fast and yields crops in 4 days. (Post-acceptance note: I just realized that there is an Evergreen religion in this guild. I did not mean for this to be a religious PA in any way. It's just botany. I hope that's not a problem.)

[x] A chill passed through me again, but it didn't fade once it came as the air itself seemed to grow heavy. The shadows, at the edge of my vision, seemed to crawl as if they were alive, not unlike what I'd seen in the hospital a few hours before. That key fact alerted me to Jack's menacing presence behind me without even needing to see him. And yet I turned anyway, the threat no longer Kirama but the Mizukage as I stared at eyes as red as blood from amidst writhing forms in the darkness. I'd experienced this in the past, I think. It came as a nagging familiarity at the back of my mind. And it was terrifying. Maybe whatever was happening to us was affecting him as well, because this wasn't Jack. His reaction wasn't the logical... gullibility? that he'd displayed before when it came to emotions. Still, I held my ground as Jack gave his threat and Kagerou did her best to defend the foolish archer who'd incurred his wrath.

Kagerou was as terrified as I felt. My ears picked up the quickening of breath and roaring of blood as she fought with her fight or flight response. Just as I did, however, she held herself strong, and countered Jack with logic of her own. She explained that we were under the effects of something, and mentioned something about a 'nightmare' earlier that day... did that have something to do with my memory loss? She lost her confidence then, trailing off, and the panic I'd seen in her eyes juts before all of this happened returned.

Behind me I heard the click and groan as another arrow was notched and drawn.

But then it all just stopped. Well, not everything. We still moved as normal, but the obsessive anxiety of hyper-focus on whatever was on my mind at a particular moment, and the overbearing sensation of paranoia. It just... vanished and I could concentrate normally again, taking in details as my mind tended to. We were still outside the restaurant, and people were still watching, watching Jack threaten the life of, presumably, a genin who had just threatened his life with an arrow. Who was ready to defend his last breath he was given. Except it lost in that instant its drive, and the taut string relaxed. He questioned himself and what he was doing, and told Kagerou to get out of the way, as if ready to accept his fate.

No one moved, which was probably expected, and Kirama left instead.

For a moment I thought Jack would go after the fleeing genin, but just as the things I felt had, the anger drained away. With it, the shadows steadied and the monsters watching us from them vanished. He blinked, and the glowing pools were gone. Silence passed for a long moment as he waged war with himself, and we waited to see who won. But finally, without moving from the fetal position in which he sat, he told Kagerou to gather her squad and take them to 'the island'. Whatever that meant. Before either of us could respond, he was gone, just as fast as he'd come.

Kagerou was the first of the two of us to move, and when she did I released the white-knuckled grip on my puppet arm and let both hands drop to my sides, standing straight once more and still trying to make sense of what had just happened. Ever since waking up, it was just chaos and drama. Were things always that way? The green-haired girl beside me spoke, drawing me away from my thoughts with an apology. In the dim light from the restaurant to our backs I could see a light pink touching her cheeks, and she avoided looking at me. If her obsession with me had ended maybe she realized how much of an affront she'd made. No, that was too strong for what had happened. Although it had been off-putting, we'd sort of sorted things out and a small part of me was flattered she'd noticed me in the first place, even if it was forced by some otherworldly power.

However, apologizing for the way she'd acted stung a bit, kind of like a slap in the face. Although not intentional, I think, it vaguely felt like she was saying under normal circumstances, she would never act that way toward me. Heat welled in my own cheeks, and I kicked myself mentally for thinking otherwise.

I looked back where Jack had been a moment before to hide my embarrassment when the green-haired girl looked back at me, her beaming smile returning despite all that had transpired. She offered to return to the restaurant so we could eat but given the eyes still ogling through the window from the commotion, the idea didn't sit with me too well. My gaze returned to her when she made a noise of exasperation though I'd missed the exact cause of it. "Maybe we should find somewhere else. Or, um... I can just eat on the way to... wherever." That didn't change the fact that she had to change. I shifted uncomfortably, hoping she could come up with a better solution than my awkwardness allowed.

[I don't want to hold you up from getting to train, so do whatever you need to do.]

User ImageKagerou shot the restaurant a second glance, and only now did she notice the gawkers. Well, that wasn't quite right. She'd seen them before in her first glance. She just hadn't really cared, but if they bothered Shadow that much, then she wasn't going to force him into the place.

Kagerou wondered, She gave the restaurant another look. Really, it wasn't that bad. Most of the onlookers from before were no longer staring, and not a lot of time had even passed. Although, what was being said in the restaurant was another matter altogether. There was no way for Kagerou to know that.

"Well," she suggested after some thought, "I think it's best if we just faced all the talk up front…" She let the idea linger for a bit as she surveyed Shadow's expression thoughtfully. Her smile, still present, softened when she was reminded of the deep shadows under his eyes. "But it has been a long day and we've got a lot of other things to do, so let's go," one hand continued to hold her pants up while the other beckoned for Shadow, "There's an open-air marketplace nearby, if I remember correctly. I think there's a public bathroom there and tables where you can eat. It might be a little crowded since it's still open, but that just means we can blend in with the crowd."

The walk to the market, assuming Shadow followed, was quiet on Kagerou's end. On top of trying to look normal, she was lost in thought about everything that had happened. To the her right now, the most important thing was that she could begin to piece together the full story of her crazed actions this night, a big part of which involved outlining all of the apologies she'd need to make. She had caused so much trouble that she just hoped she wasn't hated anywhere. Really, all Kagerou needed to do was look up and she'd see a clear reminder of this night's mistakes: a giant statue of herself hugging a figure she did not recognize. It appeared that someone she hadn't even interacted with had been bothered by her this night, and she had the audacity to ignore the very obvious plea for help. She had been terrible.

When Kagerou reached the tables in the open-market she was talking about, the public restrooms conveniently in clear view, she seemed a little distracted. She was still nice, though, telling Shadow to take a seat and get started on his food while he waited for her. She even warned him that she'll probably buy some shoes right after getting changed, so it might take a while. It was just that she was still thinking about everything she had done wrong that night.

Then she was off to the bathroom. The change was quickly finished, as was Kagerou's other business, but for a while, she stood, ready to go, in front of the mirrors above the sinks. Everything was in order. Everything but her thoughts. It started with a sigh, which lead into a full-blown groan as Kagerou took a couple steps back and leaned against the wall. "Uuuuuuugh," she let her feelings all out, thankful that no one was in. "What do…," her head, which had been pushed back into the wall, drooped forward in dejection. Catching the sound of approaching footsteps, however, Kagerou quickly straightened up and tried to look as normal as someone standing randomly in the bathroom all alone could possibly look.

After giving the two girls who entered the bathroom after her an uncomfortable smile, Kagerou returned to thinking but in a less suspicious position: hands clasped behind her, back against the wall, head leaning forward just a little bit in though, and one heel tapping out a steady beat. When the girls left after finishing their business, they received no acknowledgement from the thinking Kagerou.

was the most immediate issue, and therefore the one most prominent in Kagerou's worries. She hadn't been able to think about it before because the subject of interest had been right beside her, which was why on the walk to the open-air market she had been thinking about other important matters.

What Kagerou wanted to do with Shadow hadn't really changed from before this whole shenaniganery. She still wanted to get to know him as a friend and teammate. the question, a necessary one for Kagerou to move on, presented itself all too easily, This wasn't just the usual, "I think I might still have feelings," hesitation. This was Kagerou honestly not knowing what to do with the thought of love in the first place. Affection? She held tons of it for everything, which was part of the problem. However, a one true love sort of deal? She'd never thought about it. Now, love had hit her like a truck, and had left behind memories in its wake. So many of the thoughts she'd have and actions she'd take for a friend were now the subject to scrutiny. What's more was, if Kagerou did decide that she thought of Shadow as a lover, then she wouldn't know where to even start on that path.

The confusion reached a point where Kagerou ended up spacing out until she found an answer that she could take with no regrets. A resounding, "I do not know," cemented the solution in place. Kagerou realized as she shook her head to clear the futile confusion, Kagerou had to move on eventually. Move on from this night of desires, which was only a few hours in the countless that made up her life. Move on from the day of nightmares, which took even less of her time. Move on, grow, and learn how to handle it without so much tension and stress so she would be better prepared for the future, which in this case, was going to be tomorrow morning if everything went well and she could get everyone together for the expedition into the nightmare island. The Sero attack had taken her months to recover from, and she thought she had learned how to move on, but it wasn't enough. She couldn't always expect the luxury of that much time.

Looking into the mirror, Kagerou found herself smiling, something her face had been missing since entering the bathroom. She gave her reflection an approving nod and, pushing herself off the wall, gave herself a once over to tidy out any wrinkles and anything of the sort. There was one, last regretful touch of her hair. A final farewell to her long-gone locks, then Kagerou moved on.

Upon leaving the restroom, Kagerou checked in on Shadow from the restroom door. If he looked like he was looking in her direction, even if it was just because he was seated facing that way, Kagerou would give a wide wave before going shoe shopping. Backpack in tow, she popped into the closest place that sold shoes and bought the first pair the seller suggested that looked like they could take a beating and matched somewhat decently with the clothes she wore.

Her most urgent business finished, Kagerou met up with Shadow at the table she had left him at. If he bothered to look at her as she approached, he would receive a friendly smile and wave. Even if he didn't care to look up, he'd still get a friendly smile.

Kagerou did not take a seat at the table. Instead, she stopped just shy of it, on the opposite end from where Shadow sat, and remained standing. Although, she did put her bag down on the seat and proceeded to rummage through it until she found a scroll. she changed her mind last minute as she set the closed scroll down on the table, However, an apology was still necessary.

Standing at the opposite side of the table with both arms behind her back after placing the scroll, Kagerou waited to receive Shadow's attention. Once it was given, she began to frankly explain. It started with an apologetic, almost guilty, smile and a deep bow, "Shadow, I just wanted to apologize to you, again, more thoroughly and in detail. As a medic, I should be the one taking care of you, but it ended up being the other way around. To suddenly have a stranger thrust their love onto you, unwilling to accept 'no' as an answer? You didn't need that kind of stress on top of your amnesia, and… well…." Apologizing up to this point hadn't been difficult. Kagerou owned up to her mistakes, but what she was going to apologize for next was incredibly embarrassing. Still, she pressed on, even though her smile suddenly disappeared. Obviously feeling awkward, Kagerou vaguely continued, "There's more for me to be apologetic about. You just didn't see any of it. Indecent thoughts… and such. Just know that I am so very, very sorry, and I hope you can give me a second chance to be… uh… not as creepy or obsessed." There was something, particularly about "indecent thoughts" that Kagerou was pretty obviously hiding. Normally, she wouldn't have a problem omitting information. She only slipped when it was an outright lie. However, Shadow had a right to know if he was curious enough, as much as Kagerou didn't want anyone to know.

It was supposed to just be an apology. However, the experience hadn't been all bad. It had been quite nice, actually, after gutting it of all the bad parts, and Kagerou wanted to express this. Smile returning in full force, Kagerou made her gratitude clear as she straightened back up, "At the same time, thank you very much for not abandoning me or… you know… launching me as far away as possible with a wave of tentacles. Honestly, I would have rightly deserved either outcome, but you let me, someone you barely know, stay by your side. That was really nice of you, and it really made me happy, both then and now. Oh, and of course, thank you for jumping in to protect me like that after Kirama suddenly shot an arrow, even though I was nothing but trouble. You could say it was a pleasant surprise, I didn't expect you to protect me at all, eheh." Like a cherry on top, Kagerou ended her explanation with a big smile. Also, was that a slight blush on her face? Hard to tell, especially in this lighting. Kagerou didn't realize it herself, anyways. She was honestly just content with becoming Shadow's friend. If the rumors regarding Kirigakure's tiniest jounin were true, then he didn't have many, which was a right shame. He seemed dependable.

Anyways, there it was, Kagerou's complete apology to Shadow. It looked like it was going to be the first full-length apology of many.

[x] She thought it would be better to face the oglers upfront, but I had no interest in doing so. I was already under the impression they didn't like us--"us" being shinobi--and there was no sense getting tangled up in that mess. Kagerou could if she so desired but I was tired and hungry and would have preferred avoiding other people altogether. Especially because weird things kept happening and I didn't have the mental capacity left to handle much else.

Although I got the feeling it had only just started. But I kept my thoughts to myself.

Evidently though, she wasn't bothered with crowds like I was. Which made sense given how confrontational she was. She led the way to a marketplace that, for some reason, was still open even though it was dark. Not just that, it was fairly crowded despite the hour. Although... I realized I didn't actually know what time it was, or what time the sun typically set there. It could have been five or six in the afternoon and pitch black depending on the time of year. So maybe the busy streets weren't so unusual. I couldn't imagine we blended in much though. My ears were more or less hidden by the mop I evidently called hair but the tail wasn't exactly inconspicuous, especially since it seemed to have a mind of its own when reacting to my emotions.

Surprisingly, few people paid us any mind. Maybe it was lingering paranoia as the effects of...whatever happened...wore the rest of the way off that made me think we would be be noticed. It also came to the fact that I was a jounin and likely at least vaguely known in the village. Jack had also mentioned that I was my namesake to a lot of people, despite my strange appearance. So that could have been a part of it too.

The thought of Jack dredged up the chill I'd felt twice before now, at the hospital and again a few moments before. He'd reacted explosively both times, and part of me wondered what would have happened if no one had stopped him. The other ninety-five percent of me didn't want to find out. How common was it for him to turn into what was equivalent to a demon in my mind?

Once I'd found an open table to sit at, Kagerou left me to my own devices while she hurried away to the restroom to change out of her over-sized clothes. I didn't mind the disconnect for a moment to myself. Not to mention I finally got to eat the food I'd ordered. Setting aside Kagerou's meal for her return, I started at one of the dango skewers and let my mind wander while I waited for her to return.

Kirigakure was balanced precariously on a series of islands--artificial, give the general sway of them that suggested they weren't solid land masses--that surrounded an unnaturally massive tree, which seemed to house a majority of the citizens along its trunk. A great, spiraling path of bridges led upwards, although lifts and pulleys seemed to help with the transport for those that didn't want to walk what was probably miles to get home. What stood out to me though was that everything felt new, as if recently rebuilt. What exactly happened? There'd been a mention of a 'nightmare', but if that was earlier that day, then what caused a rebuild of the whole village? Kagerou mentioned she was born and raised there, so I could likely get some answers from her when she returned. Evidently the voice in my head wasn't interested, after all.

The rest of my meal went in general mental silence and I idly listened to conversations around me. Nothing of particular note, except a man complaining about having to wait for a gondola to get home. I heard someone approach the table but didn't drag my attention back to the present until she placed a scroll on the table. I glanced at it and then curiously up at Kagerou. That quickly changed to surprise as she bowed and apologized for her earlier actions. She'd said she was going to but I hadn't honestly expected it. Not because I didn't trust her, but because I didn't find it necessary. Smiling broadly, she continued, thanking me for not just 'launching her with a wave of tentacles'. What? She proceeded to thank me for protecting her from Kirama, and mentioned she was surprised I had. Why? Just who was I in the past that she would think that? With no memory to call my own except for vague concepts and a general idea of my abilities, who I might have been worried me. So far everything I'd heard hinted to something dark. Jack's comment that I was an unsung hero, and the way others acknowledged me as an ally but not a friend. Alongside all of that, insomnia and my missing arm. While I didn't necessarily have the desire to get close to anyone, I wasn't actively avoiding anyone either. So...who was I?

Shoving the thought aside for a moment I focused on Kagerou's words, considering how best to respond. She was a medic and felt that it had been her responsibility to care for me, especially with the stress of my amnesia. All things considered, I didn't feel particularly bad, other than tired from the long day, so I didn't believe there was any reason for her to worry. Likewise, indecent thoughts that came with a sudden lust for someone, although off-putting were kind of expected. I could understand her apology there. While I wasn't offended, it was good to hear. She asked for a second chance... had I suggested in my actions that I was intending on leaving? As for thanking me, the same thought. I took a bite of one of the taiyaki, chewing slowly as my mind attempted to form sentences to explain my thoughts. "It's fine," I offered. But after her speech, it felt rude to leave it at that. "I, um... don't mind, really. At this point everything is just kind of done by what feels right..." I trailed off at the end, mostly talking to myself anyway."

Taking another bite of the fish-shaped pastry, my thoughts turned back in on themselves, and I shifted my gaze to the tree once more. After a moment, I asked the question that had lingered since I first saw the village when I left the hospital. "Hey, Kagerou? What happened here? To the village I mean." Glancing back at her, I clarified. "Everything looks new and there's been a lot of grumbling about changes." Immediately I felt self conscious again, and looked down at the taiyaki. "Sorry for the sudden change of subject. I can ask Jack later, if you prefer."

User ImageRelieved to hear that there were no hard feelings, Kagerou let out a deep breath that she hadn't even realized she was holding. Now that the hard part was over, she sat down at the table opposite to Shadow. He was still eating, and there was even a question thrown into the mix. Kagerou figured she could also slow down for a bit and finish her meal as well.

Using her meal as an excuse for more time to think, Kagerou popped open the lid on her rice cakes and swirled the toothpick she was supposed to eat them with through the viscous, red broth. It wasn't exactly a complicated question to answer, what Shadow asked. There was just a lot, six months' worth, to condense, and on top of it all, Kagerou was pretty certain that she didn't know the whole story. Plus, this question was a good launch point to give Shadow some other information that might prove helpful.

"I don't mind the question…," she stalled for just a little bit more time, "Though, asking Jack-sensei would probably give you the clearest answer, and he'll probably trust you with more information than what I know. I'll try my best to explain in the meantime." Having remembered that this Shadow was that Shadow, Kagerou also remembered that he wasn't just any kid. He was a jounin kid. Although, even then, her first impression of him as "a kid" was really hard to get over.

After chewing on the thought and a rice cake, Kagerou swallowed and finally got around to her answer. It was long.

"Anyways, you're probably thinking that the nightmare I keep on mentioning has something to do with what you're asking. It doesn't, but I'll get back to it later. The reason for everything being new and the grumbling about changes is from around 6 months back. I'm not sure about the details, few people are, but the village was attacked by the Sero, the giant tree you see in the center."

She motioned to the very large, very obvious tree.

"By the way, we live in it now, along with most of the village, so I don't suggest letting it bother you too much or else you'll be getting even less sleep. Personally, I think it's really cool, but I also like plants. Anyways, something happened to the tree six months ago. It created monsters, terrifying abominations of tree and man. I thought they would be the worst thing I'll ever see. Additionally, for some reason, the village was caught in a giant dome-like barrier, outside of which was a lot of water. The dome broke and water flooded what was once Kirigakure, leaving only the highest points in the village untouched. Fast forward 6 months of reconstruction, and here we are with buildings and platforms that are less than half a year old."

There it was, an explanation for why the buildings looked so new. Kagerou rewarded herself with a fish cake. It was spicy, like everything else.

"So basically, Kirigakure has always been next to the ocean, but it was mostly dry land until six months ago. As a whole, the village has adapted, but you know, there are a lot of things that are more inconvenient. Humans aren't exactly built to traverse water. On top of the terrain change, during the Sero incident, the previous Mizukage, Sypher-dono, disappeared. Jack-sensei was named the successor. Um…"

Kagerou felt a little awkward about saying what she wanted to say, so she ate another rice cake instead. She kind of wanted to Shadow know how people generally saw Jack, but maybe it was better that he hear and see for himself. After all, in the end, Kagerou was just gossipping. In the end, she decided that this would just be better for Shadow to find out himself, and tried to keep the opinions she had gathered from gossip to herself.

"Well, as the new Mizukage, Jack-sensei spear-headed the reconstruction. He laid out a lot of the new plans for the village, especially the idea for everyone to live in the Sero. At least, that's what I've heard. I've only been a part of his squad since this morning. For the most part, he kept the village similar to before, or as similar as it could be after everything that's changed. I'd say he's only pushed one really major policy."

To demonstrate, Kagerou raised her right hand--palm up and fingers closed--to show that tattooed into the hand was a black rectangle with rounded corners. It looked like the outline of a playing card.

"This insignia is something everyone in Kirigakure has, and it's part of Jack-sensei's change. When I got mine, I was allowed to choose the design and location, so yours is probably different. The insignia acts like an all-purpose key in the village. Without it, I can't even enter my room. As I'm just a genin, my permissions are pretty basic, just above a civilian's. You'll probably have more clearance, which will prove helpful in getting access to things that will help refresh your memory, at least in terms of techniques and such. Some would say the whole system is a little paranoid, but my mom and dad have told me some of the other villages have similar defenses. Long story short, there's a good share of people that don't like the new security measure. That might be part of the disgruntlement you've seen. You know, on top of having to rely on boats to get everywhere and the majority of the village living in one, massive tree that probably is the whole reason why the village is the way it currently is."

Kagerou ate some more food, the hand she had raised to display her insignia being used to bring the food to her mouth. She didn't seem quite done, eyes flicking back and forth in thought as she checked to see if she had missed anything. Turns out she had because mid-chew she started talking again, hand raised to her mouth to cover the sight of half-eaten food.

"Ah, that's right. Mrgh. Give me a bit."

A quick swallow so she could talk clearly and then Kagerou was ready. In preparation, she lifted the scroll she had pulled out.

"I nearly forgot there. You and the Mizukage are really close. Well, were and hopefully continue to be. I don't think there was anyone closer to the Jack-sensei than you, not even Advisor Inka, his right hand man. With someone like Jack-sensei, it's hard to really figure out what he's thinking. Opinions and theories about him go in every which direction, but one thing that's generally agreed upon is that the two of you were like brothers, and… yeah. I have to agree with it now. You're something really special to him, at the very least. Anyways, the point I'm trying to get to is that there's an island outside of Kirigakure that's known for being haunted. The island is officially called Lonely Island, but most people just call it Jack's Island. The word is that no one's ever returned sane from it… Well, no one except you and Jack-sensei. The two of you actually live there."

Her fingers had been fiddling with the scroll. Rolling the round length of paper between her palm and fingers. However, at this point in the conversation, she set the scroll back on the table and rolled it towards Shadow. Clearly, he was supposed to take the paper, and if he unfurled it, he'd find instructions, accompanying images, and a lot of blank space.

Quote:
The instructions had been fairly simple, for the most part, with a small genjutsu placed upon it that would reveal more information as they passed through the steps. The first bit required them to go to a very, very specific location on a clifftop that overlooked the island. There they would press the seal written upon the scroll into the ground, causing the earth to rise and form a small tunnel they could walk into to appear for no more than ten seconds. They would need to hurry lest the entrance collapsed upon them, trapping them in the earth to a slow, agonizing death. Of all things, there would be a small smiley face drawn here, with what looked to be a halo? Odd. The second step was a slight bit different, for it required moving through mazes in complete darkness, and requiring memorizing the map, for within this section large Vole like creatures live that hate the light. One flash of light, and they would bring the rubble above down onto their heads.
-----There was clearly more room on the paper, but quite a bit was missing.

Before resuming the explanation, Kagerou gave Shadow time to read and absorb the information.

"Incidentally, the mission we'll be going on is actually to that very island. Jack-sensei gave us that scroll earlier to keep us safe. I'm not sure if this is how you also entered the island back when you had your memories, but for now, I think it'll be good for you to remember it for the upcoming mission."

Kagerou had been alternating between eating and speaking over this portion of her explanation, so that she was pretty much finished when she pushed the plate away and knitted her fingers together in front of her face. She was finally getting around to talking about that nightmare she promised to tell Shadow about earlier.

"So… about the Nightmare incident I keep on mentioning. It's unrelated to the Sero as far as I'm aware, but I'm also aware of very little about this event. Earlier today, a small number of people, me included, found the world around us change into something straight out of a horror story. Remember when I said I thought I had seen the worst when the Sero attacked? I saw even worse today during the Nightmare, and I was lucky. Mentally, Takeda and Nozomi had it worse. Then of course, there was Miki, who lost an arm and a leg, and you, who lost your memories. However, objectively speaking, the nightmare wasn't nearly as bad as the Sero incident, even if it looked like a foot was mere minutes away from slamming the village into oblivion. Ultimately, the rest of the village was unaffected. Those not affected don't even realize the nightmare happened. There was no trace that the village had been overflowing with horrors and terrors except for you, Miki, and maybe the sudden bout of crazy that took over what looked like pretty much everyone involved with the nightmare. Hm… I still don't know what caused it and… well… I don't think anyone really does…"

Except that wasn't fair to say out loud, and she kept quiet about it for the same reason she kept quiet about the gossip surrounding Jack and Shadow. This was something Shadow best figured out himself. As for Kagerou, she felt obligated to ask Jack privately if she really felt like Jack knew something about the event. Although, so far, she just felt like she was discriminating against him because he was weird. Sure, he had arrived just in the nick of time and blew away all opposition in a grand, heroic display, but that was kind of like part of the job description for the leader of the village. Yeah, during his recent bout of anger, the shadows and creeped and it almost felt like the nightmares were on the verge of returning, but that could have just been because it was getting scary in general. She just sort of felt like she was trying to find excuses to blame Jack, and that just wasn't right.

With the explanation of the Nightmare incident concluded, Kagerou unknit her fingers and gave her arms a nice, big stretch, back bending away from the table as she groaned, "Hrnghmmm." Once she returned to sitting normally, Kagerou finished, "Well, that about wraps it up. If you've got any questions, feel free to ask… is what I'd like to say." She gave the marketplace a good once over. The crowd looked a little thinner than before. The market would likely still be open for another few hours, but right now would be about time for Kagerou and Shadow to leave. The night was still young, but Shadow had just gotten a lot of information. It would be good for him to have time to reflect and then sleep on it. Deciding to start the mission in the morning, Kagerou explained to Shadow, "It's getting late, so we should head home. Oh yes. Permanent squads, barring married couples, room in the same apartment. I'll walk you to the docks, and from there, you should be able to find our room with the directions I give you. I can answer anything you'd like while walking and after I get home but… after the docks, I have some business to attend to before returning. Once you're done with the mission scroll, I'd appreciate it if you put it on the kitchen table. Traversing a haunted island at night is just asking for trouble, so we'll begin early tomorrow morning." As Kagerou spoke, she stood up and slung her bag, which she had pushed to the side, over her shoulders. She picked up her trash with one hand, and rounded the table to offer her other hand to help Shadow up. Kagerou did remember that Shadow disliked physical touch, but that didn't mean she wasn't going to try and sneakily get him used to it so that she could one day pat pat his ears.

Good luck when you wake up and realize all that you've lost. xxxxxxxxxx Shining lies are what you're made of. I hope it's worth the price that it costs.
Funny how history ends in an instant, how something so close can end up so distant.

[x] Hearing Kagerou call Jack 'sensei' felt strange. Like... I knew he was the Mizukage and all, leader of the village and held to a higher esteem, but the brief personal experience with him when he hadn't been blowing up in anger didn't give the impression of 'sensei'. Maybe she was just formal, but she'd called me by name ever since she first spoke to me, on familiar terms. It was a minor detail to cling to though and I shoved the thought in with the many other musings that had cropped up to ponder later as she continued.

She confirmed that the 'Nightmare' and the event that reshaped the village were not related. The 'Sero', as the giant tree was apparently called, evidently attacked the village six months before. Gesturing at the tree, she explained what I'd already managed to figure out: that the tree served as a residential district, where almost everyone in the village lived. "I gathered, I commented offhandedly, although she continued unabated. Something about monsters, and a dome, and the village flooding, all of which I heard but for some reason my mind stuck on the comment about sleep, and plants. The first because I was tired, and it was obvious to others besides me that I never got enough sleep. The permanent bags under my eyes that made me look anemic didn't exactly help. The mention of plants, on the other hand, reminded me that I had fragments of knowledge of a variety of edible plants and herbs. Maybe that would be something to talk about in the future with her. Maybe it could lead to bringing back some of my lost memories.

She concluded that segment of her answer by illustrating the flood and sudden change are what probably caused a majority of the grumblings. She also commented that the previous Mizukage vanished at that time. So Jack had only been Mizukage for about six months. Huh...

Segueing into a new topic from the changes Jack had made, Kagerou mentioned an 'insignia' that everyone in Kirigakure had. She showed me a playing card-shaped mark on her palm, explaining that it acted as a key that was so necessary, it was required to even get into one's apartment. I hadn't yet seen a tattoo like it on myself, although I hadn't exactly known to look for it. Still, I couldn't recall any sort of markings, except for the ones on my cheeks that seemed attached to the fur of my ears. That wasn't it... right?

She wasn't wrong though. It did sound paranoid. Call it an 'outsider's perspective', in a way, but I supposed it made sense to some extent. If there were threats from other villages, the leader of each might just be paranoid to put restrictions on the people they protected. Sacrifice freedom for security, or something like that. I didn't blame people for disliking it though. It didn't exactly sound appealing to me, who wasn't too keen on human interaction.

After a brief break to eat some of her meal, Kagerou went on. Just as Jack had explained to me, I'd been close to the Mizukage before I lost my memory. In fact, he hadn't seemed to be close to anyone else. We were like brothers, in the past. I felt a small pang of sorrow at that fact. More because of what he must have lost than because of what were basically hollow words to me now. She used the subject to transition into talking about the island mentioned by the young man before he left--where apparently we lived--and rolled the scroll from before my direction. I took the chance to read through what was on it. Apparently, we were to meet at cliff near the island, where we would open a tunnel with a seal contained in the scroll and face possible agonizing death. Sounded pleasant.

We sat in silence as I read, and she gave me a moment to absorb it before starting up again. One thing for sure was that she could talk. Not that it was necessarily bad. After a mention of it being helpful for me to remember how I used to reach the island, she told me about the 'Nightmare' I'd heard mentioned a few times by that point. She was vague about it, simply stating it had been horrible, but hadn't left any lasting impressions. Except, y'know, me losing my memory and Miki, her limbs.

Evidently squads inhabited the same apartment--did that mean I had two homes? Kagerou had some things to take care of before it got too late and I needed to at least attempt to sleep. She offered to give me directions on the way to the docks, and held out a hand to help me up. Instantly I felt embarrassed by the gesture and...reproachful? No that was too grand of an emotion to describe it. But... wasn't it typically the man's job to give the lady a hand up? Gathering my trash to avoid looking at her I pushed myself to my feet despite the gesture. "I-it's fine," I said for the second time in a few minutes. "Thanks though." I strode away quickly to a nearby trash can and threw the empty containers away. Sticking what was left of the taiyaki I'd been picking at in my mouth I turned back to Kagerou apologetically. "Sorry, I... didn't mean to panic." Part of me was convinced I was talking to fill space since I was too awkward to figure out anything else. So I clamped my mouth shut, focusing on the red bean pastry instead, and started off toward the gondolas.

Despite the weirdness of the day, my first several hours of this new life hadn't been so bad. While I was concerned about who I might have been before, a large part of me wasn't sure I wanted to know. The picture Kagerou had painted hadn't been entirely pleasant, and Jack's statement of me being my namesake struck a cord that resonated uncomfortably. All things considered, who I was didn't seem to bother the green-haired girl who spoke to me while others avoided me. Or maybe it was lingering paranoia that made me believe they avoided me. It could have also just been that she hadn't known the old me. Regardless, I was thankful, I supposed, that she stuck around.

We walked in silence until we reached the docks, at which point Kagerou gave me directions to the apartment through the maze that was the Sero's district. I took that chance to say some final words I'd been contemplating since leaving the market. "Hey, um..." I turned to look at her, but found heat rushing to my face again and glanced to the side. "Thanks for...everything, I guess. I-I know you thanked me for letting you stick around, but even if it was under the influence of some weird outside power, I, um..." I rubbed the back of my neck nervously. "Sorry, my brain seems to shut down whenever I open my mouth." Biting my lower lip I forced myself to try again. "Anyway, thanks for your help. And I guess if I'm asleep by the time you get to the apartment, I'll see you in the morning." I gave a sheepish grip and turned away as quickly as I could manage, climbing in the nearest boat that could take me away from my moment of panic-inducing clumsiness.

User ImageEverything from Shadow ignoring her hand to his hurried exit was taken in calm stride by Kagerou. An understanding, "It's okay," when he returned from throwing away his trash. Then after Kagerou threw away her own trash and the two of them reached the docks in silence, she seemed more amused than anything as she waved Shadow farewell, regardless of whether or not he was watching. She'd kind of wanted to say something to him, but he had left so quickly. Anyways, this kind of awkward farewell was good, too. After all, she knew some people were just shy. There was nothing wrong with that. In fact, in her experience, they tended to do better than her as ninjas. The shy ones were always the sneaky ones... usually.

Kagerou seemed so calm despite her earlier misgivings because, in a way, she was. She'd succeeded in speaking to Shadow normally, hopefully normalizing and stabilizing their relationship after the fiasco of a first impression. Not only did Shadow accept her apology, but she was given a good opportunity to show that she was helpful. Really, that was all Kagerou wanted for now. There was plenty more she still had to do, with everyone and not just with Shadow, but she didn't bother with what she couldn't get to until later.

Although, a small part of her felt a little sad that she and Shadow managed to clear up any misunderstandings so easily. It was kind of like eating only part of a delicious meal and wanting to try more. It would have been a lie if Kagerou said she was completely uninterested in love, and actually, while she disliked what she had done when madly in love, she couldn't say she disliked the warm, fuzzy feeling she felt while in love. Still, it was a nigh unnoticeable part of her, though, something she recognized but wasn't really bothered by. Kind of like how, even after the experience, Kagerou's opinion on love was merely,

Anyways, none of that was the most important thing on Kagerou's mind. She gave it a few minutes after Shadow left, walking to another part of the docks for her ride, before giving her surroundings a once over, and as she thought, no one paid her any heed. Well, not furtively at least. She received the occasional greeting. As crowded as it was, Kagerou knew enough people to be recognized now and again. She had worked the gondolas during the six months of reconstruction, after all, so of course she was a familiar face to some who worked here. However, there were none of those quickly averted looks or stolen glances when it looked like Shadow, and to a lesser extent Kagerou, would notice.

Kagerou sighed, rubbing the back of her neck as she waited for a ride, She'd never personally associated with Shadow before. She had heard stories, of course, but for the same reason she showed nothing but respect to the Mizukage, or tried to at least, she also tried to not let the gossip cloud her opinion of Shadow as she walked and talked with him. It was easy. The animal ears never threw Kagerou off, and if anything, because of her soft spot for animals, she just wanted to rub them. As for his supposedly hostile personality. Well, by the time Kagerou realized who Shadow was, he'd already earned her trust in his niceness by letting her stay with him even when she was intolerable.

The observation Kagerou made regarding the public's reaction to Shadow, whether it be because he was so obviously different or because of the rumors about him, seemed like it would be handy. Although, she did not yet know how. Kagerou thought, thinking about the shinobi world,

Kagerou's ride finally arrived, and as she boarded it, she put aside her thoughts on Shadow for now. Now, she needed to figure out what she was going to do upon reaching the statue of herself.

When doing so he can climb flat surfaces and cling without the need for the water walking jutsu. Still, this is incredibly slow and inefficient for any purpose other than stealth. It's also incredibly unsettling to watch.

Having evolved from the hellish ordeal placed upon them and unknowingly carrying terror within their genealogy they have developed the ability to produce fear inducing Genjutsu at the will of their host acting as the conduit for the molding of the necessary chakra rather than hand signs.

The emblem of a jagged spider sewn on the backsides while the palms contain what appear to be the equivalent of small hole like pores. The gloves when worn treat the wearer's hands as if they were complex for interactions with ninjutsu. The gloves allow interaction with chakra structures and the pores on the gloves themselves can produce threading from each fingertip. The threading can then attach to structures allowing them to be manipulated by pulling them. These threads are not unlike chakra threads in strength but are clearly visible. When finger tips are brought together the produced threads can fuse into one leading to garrote wire like executions.

Different scenarios and possibilities started to play in her mind as she was heading towards to this shop. A curious teenager boy or girl? A perverted adult who knows better? A bored thief who wants attention? What can it be? Nozomi suddenly wished she had more jars of honey to give out. Ah well. They can be sold at the farms anyways. When she had made her way in, the redhaired Aburame was honestly too scared to check if there was any insects in here after what happened last time. If she happened to see one however, then she will converse with it. At the time being, she wasn't going to even try. Her honey colored jewels scanned the room to look for the guy who works here.

Actions:

Butterfly Kisses - Nozomi is able to cast her genjutsu, if they are touch based, through her insects. She makes the handsigns, but the jutsu is delivered by the insects. Example, if Nozomi have six insects on six people, all would be affected by her genjutsu. It would cost 2 ranks less per person to use. Such as if the technique is A-rank, it would cost C-rank chakra per person. While the cost of the technique drops two rank, so does the power.

Class Discipline/Personal Attribute:

Mother's Heart - Nozomi is able to communicate with anything living that is of the Arthropoda phylum order. She can gather Intel from the Arthropoda phylum creatures that is within 10 meters radius, usually used to track someone down.

"Hey pal you look the lonely type! Might I interest you in one of these beauts!..or should I say several of these beauTIES!" A young peddler, he seemed young probably no older than eighteen. Essentially on the cusp of adult hood. A shoulder straddled around a larger man with a lewd piece of layered papers called a magazine in the other hand flipping through the pages with the cheeky grin of a guy about to make a heavy handed sale. In front of a booth that was selling similar literary works...although there were normal reading materials as well. The large man he'd straddled was far to enamored to be made at the earlier comment of being called a lonely type.

What may strike Nozomi as peculiar as the air held a peculiar scent to it. The scent of arachnid pheromones. I mean sure the scent wasn't unfamiliar in Kirigakure but what made it peculiar was that it was here of all places. A place consistently busy with a lack of peace and seclusion a spider would typically favor.

When she made it to the booth, a scene unfolded before her. Her hands rested on her hips as she considered what to do next. Should she scold the male for trying to sell such magazines to someone who may not even be of age yet? She decided she was going to ask the kid for his age before jumping to conclusion. Yet, something stopped her. Pheromones. Puzzled, she glanced around, any signs for any spider dwelling. Webs was the sure sign of them. "Little ones?" She questioned, her voice soft and gentle as she waited for a respond; completely forgetting about the man selling lewd magazines to the young one.

Within the bazaar's center well among the many booths in the bazaar two spiders emerged their eyes briefly shifting to see whom it was that called. Then upon seeing who they assumed to be the caller. They returned back to hide within the darkness of the well. They did not wish to engage in conversation with Nozomi for some apparent reason whatever that may have been. Whether Nozomi saw the two of these little guys would have been up to her perception whether it was keen enough or not. Meanwhile the youthful looking booth owner was counting his recent profit by bouncing the change in his hand up and down.

Nozomi was rather sad when they seemed that they didn't want to talk to her. Odd. Maybe she should get Sukoso to help her talk to them. Well, she doesn't want to bother them too much so she'll walk to the booth owner and see if she can get any information out off him. Spiders do tend to stay in the shadows and darkness until all was quiet so Nozomi was a patience individual. When the young Aburame had turned her attention back to the booth, it seemed that he had made his sale as she sighed. Well. She'll let the family deal with this and not herself, it was none of her business anyways. Made her approach to the man, "Excuse me, I'm here to talk about the theft that's been happening lately." Nozomi started as she smiled behind the mask and gave off a friendly vibe but she hoped in the back of her head that he wouldn't dare to try to sell her those magazines. "Is there any information you can give me? Something odd or out of ordinary?"

"The only thing out of the ordinary is why you and me aren't together honey buns." The man would say with an air of TOO much confidence. At the same time though unknown to Nozomi if she tried anything to spurn his advance physically he'd already have a smooth dodge ready and waiting. Being slapped , hit, bit, or strangled, was no stranger to him so to say he was a slippery little s**t.

Then the man began to smoothly start spitting rhymes as he began to use sleight of hand to play with the inventory like a performer. "No need for introductions my saccharine sweety, after all have ya heard bout that Abu treaty? That's right I'd say your a little talk of the town, of course don't ask me about whats going down. Is this sweet honey princess gonna be wearing a gown? Heh, don't quote me on this but I sense trouble afoot, but who cares about politics here have a look at this book." Of course while he was laying down his 'sick' beats he was still being incredibly evasive of any types of physical blows Nozomi may have had planned...but something came up. Something that Nozomi may not have been told by her family. By the sounds of things the owner of the booth was implying that Nozomi was supposedly going to get married? The fact that this would be public knowledge first before even she knew may come to a surprise. That is if she didn't already know.

That aside when the booth owner told Nozomi to have a look in his hands he'd drop a magazine as its pages flicked open to a rather lewd image of a girl in a rather revealing swimsuit licking a lollipop. On it the pages seemed somewhat stuck together with white...liquid? It was hard to tell what it was, but clearly one could jump to conclusions if they weren't in a mature mind set. The owner leaned against the side of his booth looking at the page and Nozomi expectantly to see what she would do now.
