Mariko rolled her head, cracking her neck and shoulders slightly and then continued on her way. She figured she'd go check and see if there were any races going on. She felt like she needed some off time for a couple hours before going and looking for some herbal supplies and other oddities to have in store for herself and the other healers of the pride. She glanced to see if anyone else happened to be heading that way. Perhaps she'd run into some old associates. She wouldn't entirely she had that many friends, though she did know a few of the entertainers rather well. Tamaki was a long standing friend of hers, ever since they had met as cubs.
Glancing out of the corner of her eye she thought she spotted someone and paused in her movements and turned her head to look that way. A dark form was approaching and by the stripes she could tell it was Erebus. She hadn't really seen him around too much, at least not since they were cubs. And that hadn't exactly gone over too smoothly. Though it could have always been worse. "Hello Erebus." She said as he grew closer.

There had been a scar where he had reminded himself everyday of getting back at that rat. Now that everyone was older, time had indeed passed by not his revenge. After they'd become adols, he noticed that Makai and Ifit would become Loan sharks like they were.
Soon they too, began a brotherhood where they either tried to outdo one another, or simply had fun telling stories about their kills. Time, had been the essence. Kills after kills and sometimes, they would beg and plea- and Makai was in charge of wiping them out. This- sometimes took a tole on him, but wouldn't ever say it. The kills began to matter less- and more about who he was really killing. A slave here and there- a leader here and there.
It didn't stop and when he tried to stay the night with entertainers to help ease the burdens. He would wake up at night and have almost killed the entertainer he slept with. Separating himself, he lived for the brotherhood... He had become the hectic monster of the deadly horsemen. Their could names.
When his name was called, it was when he was suppose to find a racer that owed a debt. He didn't jump, but he tilted his head back, a gruff of annoyance until he saw who it was. An almost lost, and forgotten face. Mariko- was blurred from existence every time he went in to pick up Makai or Ifrit for missions.
"Hey." He was at least friendly with their family. Above all the rest of the other bloodlines. "If you came looking for your brother- he''s out with Ifirt today." He was about to leave.

Sure she needed to see her siblings more often, but that wasn't why she was here. At least now she knew where he was if she needed to track him down. "I'm actually here to watch some of the races. But thank you for letting me know where he is in case I do need to seek him out later though." She said with a simple nod of her head as she watched him. She wondered if she was keeping him from something. It had been a long time since she had actually spoken to him, let alone seen him. Sure she'd catch a glimpse of him now and again but she actually hadn't done much for conversation since they were younger.
"So, no injuries for me to patch up today?" She teased him slightly remembering that day when they were just cubs. She laughed mentally to herself but kept her features relaxed. She could almost remember those days clearly, like they were still there, if she focused on the memory long enough. However, she didn't like to dwell in the past too much. She honestly didn't mind taking a detour from her plans to talk to him. Though really it all depended on if he wanted to stick around.

His ears panned back as he gave her another look. Pondering on why she had noticed him then, if not for location. "The racers aren't that great to watch. Cheetahs will always be faster." The superior race. He moved back, and sat beside her with a calmed look to the race.
"I got a gash somewhere I think. Probably few scratches here and there. Nothing needing too much attention. I'm sure." The racer was doing excellent. Too bad that he had to collect a debt or break one of his legs. "I heard you graduated to whatever. Congrats." He said off hand, remembering Maikai say something about it. "Maikai talks a lot about you. The innocent one."

She agreed to disagree. "While they're no cheetah, they are still nice to watch. It's impressive what some of them can do. Plus I'm here if one get's injured." She said glancing over towards him briefly.
"Well, if you ever want me to patch you up,no questions asked, just come find me" She said to him hoping he'd ask for help if he got any serious injuries in the future. She honestly didn't care how they happened.
She gave a small smile. "I did, thank you." Inside she was beaming. "Does he now? He should watch his words." While she might not be a loan shark or anyone with bronze or a temper didn't mean she couldn't do harm. It's quite interesting the things she could do with some of the herbs she had. They knew nothing. "Though he is right. I'm quite the innocent one compared to the others.'

He gave a grunt at even the thought of watching for amusement. Debts. That's what he once thought was amusing.
"I'll remember to remember to find you, but that's if I remember." shrugging. "I wear scars pretty well. Comes with the rank." Looking at her. "It's nice hearing something good during missions like ours. We can be forgetful that life has happy moments." Shaking his head having been warped in speaking from his inner thoughts. "Sorry- didn't mean to get sappy. I'm about to break something. Not feeling up to it though."
When the racer ended in second, the hybrid looked over and made eye contact.
Bad move, kid.
"Have you killed someone before, innocent one?"

She shook her head with a light laugh. She never really did understand them sometimes. She just patched them up and sent them on their way. "Glad to hear that some light can be brought to those missions of yours." She never knew all the details to some of what they did but it was never good. Glancing over towards him she shook her head. "No." Would she if she had the chance? Probably not though it really depended on the situation. "Why do you ask?" She ignored the comment he made about having to go break something, she knew well enough what he had to do. She wasn't going to pester him for details.

Again he rubbed the top of his head, messing up his hair. "You hadn't been the reason someone died yet then." Looking at her with an uneasy sigh. "Your paws.." He lifted his digit and grazed it upon her paw. "Are those of healing, and mine, are those keep you in a job, or worse. I wonder sometimes what it is like to help others, all these constant missions but I'm too far in to quit now. Likely, my brother- you know him. Apollo. That damned priest, maybe it's his words that keep getting to me. Am I doing it wrong?" There was a moment where he stayed quiet then began to burst in to laughter.
"Pfft- like that happens- huh!" Going up to her, circling her and pushing his shoulder against hers.
"Are you going to that thing tonight? I heard some entertainers will be doing some thing to night. I think I may be there, I want to keep my mind off of hurting others for a day." Although he looked uneasy still, he seemed just a tad bit lighter in his step. Even just the air of him gave off a slight change.

She watched as his paw touched her own and then looked at his own. "You're never too far gone." She said to him softly. She knew that their job wasn't the easiest but hers was no picnic at times either. "Life and death are within both of our grasps it would seem." She added. When he mentioned something was happening later she shook her head. "This is actually the first time I've heard of it. Maybe we can go together?" She suggested.

There was a moment of his laughter, and when she said it was never too late, he turned to her with a smile. A genuine one. "The optimistic one of your siblings." When he notified her, her suggestion caught him off guard. Blinking in shock.
"Accompanying Makai's sister?" He chuckled some at the thought. Which never once crossed him mind. But maybe.. Lifting himself, he closed the gap between them and softly spoke in her ear. "I'd be my pleasure." Flicking his tail and turning away from her. "See you at the center tree, we can walk to the entertainers den together."
The only thing he could think about was Makai's face if he saw them. Knowing exactly how protective the cheetah was. Being lighter on his step as he disappeared in the group of racers... and one that he would have to break an arm of and probably send Mariko's way... or leave him for dead. He hadn't quite decided yet.

Was it really that big of a deal to escort her to some gathering? She didn't think so but then again she never knew what her brother said about her and her sisters behind their backs. Let alone how protective they were.
She couldn't help but swallow and flush slightly as he got close to her and whispered his response and then walked away. Well then. She stood there for a moment, attempting to recompose herself and then gave a small smile and watched him as he disappeared and she turned and left back towards home.

It was after he dislocated the racer's arm and leg, and gave the debt count to his superior is when he started on his way to the center tree. There was some tumble with him, so there was a few new cuts on his neck but nothing serious, he thought.
Night was looming soon over head as he neared and looked about. Why was he looking? He wanted to make sure she was ok. It would be a bother if he had another fight with Makai...

He got his dues, and he was given a token in return. Otherwise, he was walking back to his dead, his heart heavy. Knowing now, what he knew back then, he wouldn't have chose this career path but he did. Like many others that changed families, he couldn't. The rest of the three other horsemen wouldn't allow it. They were in it together, a brotherhood. Mariko's brother was the one whom he protected the most out of all of them. Why? It was different with Makai, they become closer, even closer than his own blood brother but there was another.. He walked passed the center tree then his head went automatically up towards Mariko's den. He heard she had cubs... he didn't go see them. He just heard of them. The thought went through his head before. It rubbed him the wrong way when Makai told him that the father didn't pull through and marry her. That urked him. He sighed, he should have been there for her and the cubs. What...kinda friend only comes when their hurt. There was thought, maybe he should, but ... she had a family, and he, just had the horsemen. He found himself sitting and watching her den longer than he thought. His mind circling..
