Amber and her three-year-old daughter, Lily, sat in the back of a transport van, watching the scenery as they drove. Amber had been informed that someone had purchased both her and Lily a few days before, and early this morning, they were taken from their cage in the shop and loaded into the van to make the long drive to their new master's home. The only thing Amber knew was that their master was a man, since the shop felt no obligation to give her more information. They'd been driving for what felt like days when they finally came to a stop in front of a rather large manor, which sat between a lake and a mountain. As far as Amber could see, wheat fields stretched far beyond the lake. She squinted when the driver of the van opened the side door, then got out of the van and looked around, Lily in her arms. This place is huge, she thought, glancing around as the guard escorted them to the front door of the manor before knocking loudly. It will be a wonder if we don't get lost in here.

RaisaNadia I loved his reaction to seeing Lily!
Amber waited with Lily and the driver of the van, along with the other two guards, who joined them to make sure Amber and Lily didn't try to run off. Not that it was a problem, but it was protocol, and the guards followed it to a T. She was still looking around when the front door opened to reveal a young man. She watched as the young man opened the door all the way, and she blinked in surprise when she saw a giant lion standing behind him. She assumed from the lion's size that it had magical capabilities. She was snapped out of her reverie when the young man spoke, and when she turned, she couldn't help smiling when she saw that the guards had fled back to the van and were speeding away from the manor after having seen the lion. Amber turned back to the young man when he spoke, then seemed to freeze when he saw Lily. She wondered why he was surprised until the lion spoke, which confirmed her assumption that the lion had magical powers. "It's a pleasure to meet the two of you, as well, sir," she said, offering a small bow in response to the lion's nod. She smiled slightly when the lion swatted the young man's back, then spoke again. "Might we come inside, Master?" she asked.

RaisaNadia This is more interesting than I'd originally hoped for! razz
Amber listened to the interaction between her new master and Agrel, which she assumed was the lion's name. Being a dragon, she had the ability to hear the thoughts of those around her, although most of the time, she put up a mental barrier to prevent this. She could tell from the look on Grant's face that he wasn't prepared to have a child around the manor, and she knew that she would have to keep an eye on Lily, to keep her from getting underfoot too much. She held still while Agrel padded over to Lily and sniffed her tentatively before rubbing his nose against her face affectionately. Lily opened her eyes at this, blinking at the sight of the lion, and smiled shyly, reaching out to touch his nose lightly.
Amber blinked when Grant answered her question, and she knew that he was still freaking out at the thought of having a child in the manor. She watched as Grant turned and stiffly walked back inside, and she followed him inside, closing the door behind her. "It's quite alright, sir," Amber said, in response to Agrel's first comment. "This will be the first time we've had a master in over a year, so this is a new experience for us, as well." The young mother listened as Agrel explained why she and Lily were there, and she nodded when he said he'd taken the liberty of having clothing and other essentials brought to the manor for her and Lily. "Thank you," she said, nodding gratefully at him. She smiled a bit when the lion made a comment about Grant not reading their file, which was the reason he was so surprised by Lily. "If I might ask, what foods do you and the Master prefer, and what foods do you dislike?" she asked. "And are there any foods the Master is allergic to?" It would help to know these things beforehand, so that she didn't accidentally serve either of them something they didn't like or something they were allergic to.

Amber listened as Agrel answered her question, and she wondered what he meant when he said that Grant's allergies wouldn't kill him. She shook her head when he apologized for Grant's laziness, and when he mentioned something about a curse, she wondered if that was what Agrel meant when he said that Grant's allergies wouldn't kill him. "It is not my place to judge the Master, nor would I try," she said quietly. She fell silent for a moment before speaking again. "Before I forget, are there any rooms that Lily and I should avoid entering?" she asked. It wouldn't do to go into a forbidden room by accident.
She entered the bedroom Agrel led them to, her eyes widening a bit at the size. She could see a modest vanity in one corner, as well as a door next to it which led to the bathroom. She saw that Grant was sprawled at the foot of the bed with his right arm over his eyes, and she shook her head a bit. She sensed that he had calmed down somewhat from his reaction to Lily, although she knew it would take time before he became accustomed to having the girl in the manor. "Agrel was telling me what was required of me and Lily while we're here, Master," she said, shaking her head when Grant spoke. "You have a beautiful home, and it will be a pleasure to stay here and keep it clean."

"Is this really my curse? How bothersome.
🎶 Grant finally looked up at the woman as she spoke, refusing to look at the baby. He was afraid that if he even looked at the baby she would cry and he wouldn't know how to handle that. "This is your home now too. It may not have happened under ideal circumstances but that doesn't change anything." He said calmly, he thought about getting up but that just didn't seem appealing to him at the moment. "I know it is late an you probably want to go to bed now but there are things that your... Baby will need no doubt that we have forgotten. If you make a list tonight of what she needs like clothes, dippers, food, toys or whatever they need and give it to me tomorrow I will have them delivered here. We can even have one of the rooms here turned into a nursery or playroom if you would like. There are way to many rooms here to find any practical reason for them anyways. Just look inside the closet and go through what we have brought here and if you see something missing write it down" At the mention of bed he thought abut his own cozy bed waiting for him just upstairs. This thought made him finally get off of his lazy a** and walk past the Lion and into the hall. Talking - #883322 / Thinking - #bb8877 / Agrel - #aa8877 🎶 "Grant you have forgotten to tell her about the... And, he is gone." Agrel sighed. "To answer your question from earlier about off limits rooms, there are only three. Grant's room, the attic and the basement. You are not to enter any of these rooms without myself or Grant under any condition. You seem like a smart girl so I am not to worried about you." The Lion spoke gently while looking down at the small child in her mother's arms. He rubbed his nose against her cheek once more before looking straight at the mother. "This child might actually be what Grant needs around this house. He has grown so anti social since I have met him. A child will force him to play and socialize... She is beautiful. Good night Amber. I hope you two sleep well your first night here." And, with that the Lion left the room much like his friend, neither of them really good at sticking around for to long. Agrel padded up the stairs and t Grant's room before pushing open the slightly ajar door and going in. Grant was already asleep by the time he had the door closed behind him and had jumped up onto the foot of the bed. In his sleep Grant seemed so young and sweet like the teenage boy that he looked, but Agrel knew the truth. This however was not the time to be thinking of these things. So, with a quiet yawn he settled down and waited until the house was silent before he slept.
"You should have stayed out of where you didn't belong."

Amber listened, nodding, as Grant spoke, saying this was their home, as well. She knew Grant was right when he said there were things Lily would need, and she nodded again when he told her to make a list of whatever Lily might need and give it to him tomorrow. "It would be nice for Lily to have a playroom," she said quietly. She was surprised when he suddenly rose and left the room, passing Agrel on his way out.
Amber smiled slightly when Agrel started to speak to Grant, but the master of the house was already gone, so the lion answered her question himself. She nodded when he said Grants' room, the attic, and the basement were off limits, and that she wasn't to go in any of them without him or Grant present for any reason. "I understand, and I'll make sure Lily doesn't go into those rooms, either," she said. Lily opened her eyes again and smiled, stroking Agrel's nose gently as he rubbed his nose against her cheek.
Amber smiled when Agrel said Lily was beautiful. "Thank you, Agrel," she said. "Good night, and I hope you sleep well, also." She watched as the lion walked out of the bedroom, and once he was gone, she laid Lily gently on the bed, then crawled under the covers with her daughter. It wasn't long before the two of them fell asleep, and they slept better that night than they had in many months.

"Is this really my curse? How bothersome.
🎶 "Wake up Grant" A large paw pushed the boy out of his bed, sending him sprawling in an unflattering way to the ground. It took him a second to figure out who had sent him falling off of his bed, and when he did he glared at the Lion. "I hate you." "I care deeply for you to Grant. Now get yourself ready for the day. We will be showing Amber the garden so we can show her what plants to keep Lily away from." Agrel said calmly, pushing down on the door handle until it popped open enough for him to open the door. All of the doors had handles instead of doorknobs just for this reason and on top of that most of the doors remained open at all times. "Stupid Lion, always waking me up at dawn." In all actuality it was about 8:30 am, but he really liked to sleep in on special occasions. And, by special occasions he meant everyday. He liked to sleep in everyday. With a loud groan he pushed himself up off the floor and shuffled into his bathroom to relieve himself and brush his teeth and hair. Talking - #883322 / Thinking - #bb8877 / Agrel - #aa8877 🎶 When he finally got his hair into a manageable mess he went back out into his room, still clad only in his boxers that he slept in. He went over to his dresser and dug around in it until he came up with a grey t-shirt, a pair of blue jeans, and a black hoodie. The fall season was upon them and the need for an extra layer was starting to become extremely evident. Now fully dressed and very grumpy he could start his day. "Well don't you look chipper this morning? Was it your wake up call?" Agrel chuckled, watching Grant as he walked out of his room with a scowl on his feet and dog slippers on his feet. "Shut up. I'm hungry lets find something to eat." The grumpy boy walked ahead of the Lion on his way to the Kitchen. That boy has a lot to learn. Hopefully Amber and Lily can teach him how to be a little happier and maybe be a little more sociable." Agrel thought as he padded slowly after the boy. His tail swishing back and forth gently as he thought.
"You should have stayed out of where you didn't belong."

Amber and Lily slept well that night, and Amber woke early the next morning, it having been a habit she was used to from her youth. She left the bed and walked to the closet to choose her clothes for the day, then took a shower, washing until she felt sufficiently clean before dressing and walking back into the bedroom she and Lily shared. Finding a pad of paper and a pen on a nearby bedside table, the dragoness sat and made out the list Grant had asked for the night before, making sure to add extra clothes and Lily's favorite foods and snacks, as well as some toys that were beneficial for learning. Once she'd completed this, she woke Lily and gave the girl a bath, dressing her in some of the clothes Agrel had requested be brought to the manor for her before heading for the kitchen, figuring the least she could do for Grant was cook breakfast, since he had been kind enough to take her and Lily into his home.
She found eggs in the fridge, as well as bread and bacon, and set about making bacon, eggs and toast. This was one of her favorite meals, and one she hadn't had for quite some time, since her parents' kingdom had been taken over and she'd become a slave. She looked through the cabinets to see what spices, if any, there were, and noticed there weren't many, but of the ones that were there, she knew several of them. She cooked the bacon, then drained some of the grease and cooked the eggs in what remained of the bacon grease, to give them a bit more flavor.
Once they were done, she set about making the toast, setting butter and jam out, then filled two glasses with juice and a smaller one with milk for Lily. For Lily's breakfast, she made a bowl of oatmeal, and added some banana slices to it, as well as a touch of brown sugar. By the time breakfast was ready, Lily was sitting at the table, and Amber made sure the girl waited until Grant and Agrel appeared before allowing her to start eating. "Good morning, Master, Agrel," she said. "I hope you don't mind me making breakfast, since it's the least I could do for allowing Lily and myself to stay here."

"Is this really my curse? How bothersome.
🎶 Grant stopped at one point on his way to the kitchen and sniffed the air. "It seems that Amber is making breakfast." Agrel said from behind him. "That's a first around here." And Grant was telling the truth. He hardly ever cooked for himself, I was just to much of a hassle. The two continued on until they found the mother and daughter in the kitchen. Grant was surprised to see how much food was on the table, though he wouldn't complain. He had a really big apatite for someone who didn't move around so much. Agrel had focus on something else however. "See that Grant? I was nice to them yesterday and gave them the information they needed and I was the one Amber greeted. You ran off multiple times and you got ignored." Agrel did his best to rub it in Grant's face but the boy didn't seem to care. "Whatever." He said, not looking at the Lion as he took his seat at the table. He spared a look up at Amber and mumbled a thank you before filling up his plate and throwing a thick piece of bacon to the Lion. Agrel gratefully accepted the piece. Talking - #883322 / Thinking - #bb8877 / Agrel - #aa8877 🎶 "Amber we have decided to show you around the garden today. It is rather large and there are many plants that seem enticing, especially for young ones, and we would like to show you which plants are dangerous so that you may keep darling little Lily way from them." Agrel became all business once more while Grant took a bite out of a piece of bacon. The boy didn't care what they did today so long as it didn't involve him leaving his home, Agrel could take them into the attic for all he cared to introduce them to the Troll... Actually that was a bad idea, Lump liked to steal little children. I fact that's what had gotten him sealed in the attic in the first place. At the thought of the Troll, Grant looked over at Lily who was to the left of him digging into a bowl of what appeared to be oat meal, no doubt because she wasn't ready for solid foods yet. He had to admit that she was cute, even if she did go in her own dippers and sit in her filth. He gently reached out his hand and used his thumb to wipe some food matter from the baby's cheek. "Weren't you freaked out by the thought of the child just yesterday?" Agrel asked the boy, an amused tone slightly coloring his words. "Didn't you have some boring conversation to have with a Troll?" Grant retorted, wiping his thumb off on his napkin before paying attention to his own plate once more. "Agrel gets no more bacon. He's getting fat." This earned a huff from the Lion who glared at the boy.
"You should have stayed out of where you didn't belong."
