xxxxxHe came to Afanasy in a dream: From the depths of a color-eating mist, a glowing bleached-white skull appeared, disembodied.
xxxxxHe recognized its shape. Had he summoned the spirit of a great buffalo? With greater focus upon the form before him, the skull
xxxxxtook on great clarity. What he thought was a skull then became a furry, pale face with deeply-shadowed eyes. Slowly, the mist
xxxxxswirled around them, but the murkiest of shadows coalesced behind the skull-like face and took their own shape too, as that of
xxxxxthe dark-bodied buffalo. The creature's breath disturbed the remaining mist and his voice croaked, surrounding them and passing
xxxxxthrough Afanasy's mind: We finally meet. Again.
