A few things to remember:

• A Pernese Turn consists of thirteen months, each with 28 days.
  
• Days of the week and months are not named. They are simply referred to by their number. i.e. planning an event on the fourthday of next sevenday, or being found on search on the 28th of the Ninth Month three Turns prior.
  
• Weeks are called sevendays.
  
• Pern has two holidays -- Turn's End and Turn's Beginning - which is celebrated at the end of one Turn and the beginning of the next Turn. This is often a big celebration and holiday called Turnover.
  
• Turns are always counted as the Turns After Landing (AL). In Echoes of Pern we begin during winter: The third month of Turn 3573.
  
• Every month OOCly is approximately another month ICly. There's a little fuzziness, given there are 13 months on Pern, and only 12 on Earth, but New Years Eve / New Years Day is Turns End / Turns Beginning. Everything else sort of fits in its place.
  
• Characters can backdate RP as needed. Jumping too far ahead is frowned upon since staff could introduce metaplot at any point, but we do allow it in smaller increments. Just be smart about it, and now if we introduce metaplot, you'll have to adjust the RP accordingly.

Historical Timeline

This timeline will be edited periodically once major milestones and events happen within the shop. This Timeline is from the end of the 9th Pass to Echoes of Pern's opening.

Purple = IC Events These events were meta-plot or ICly happenings and they too place in the shop. Where possible we will link to the event or happening.

2508 AL: 9th Pass Begins.

2558 AL: 9th Pass Ends.

2758 AL: 10th Pass should have begun. It did not and Pern rejoiced. High Reaches continued to prepare for its return.

2958 AL: 10th Pass should have begun had Pern been in the midst of a Long Interval. It did not return and Pern rejoiced. High Reaches continued to prepare for its return, but many on the planet looked upon them as holding onto the past.

3006.11.02 AL: Lord Malas of Bitra begins attempting to expand and over-reach in his power. Scuffles with its neighboring Holds become common.

3010.09.25 AL: Lord Malas of Bitra, and his heirs are poisoned and killed. A new Lord of Bitra, Ethren, is hurriedly brought into power and the territory wars are quickly resolved. Some in Bitra objected but peace was restore to the east.

3327 AL: Grubs begin dying off. Initially noted as a parasite or mutation. It began in the Northern Continent around the Big Island.

3380 AL: With no cure discovered the grub population on Pern suffered severe losses. Grubs are extinct on the Northern and Western Continents, but the Southern variety, though hit hard, still remained in smaller numbers. With Thread gone, there was little concern over the population losses.

3558 AL: 1000 Turns after the Last Pass. Pern has changed in some ways, but remained the same in others. New Crafthalls have taken root and grown -- Glasscraft, Papercraft, Dolphin Hall, Feline Hall, Runners Hall -- there is also much that has remained the same. Many Weyrs were abandoned, allowing dragonriders freedom, but also forcing them to find new livelihoods.

The Starcraft has noted that the Red Star is returning, but as it still cycles and comes closer and farther from the planet, and has done so in the past, nobody is alarmed.

High Reaches Weyr is looked at as peculiar, and they are the only Traditional Weyr remaining. They still seem resolved in the idea that Thread will return. Most individuals on Pern ignore them, and some even find them backwards. Dragonriders who leave High Reaches tend to keep their origins quiet, as many are regarded as crazy or relics of the past in a more progressive Pern.

3566.05.15 AL: High Reaches Senior Weyrwoman Lisella steped down from her position to retire to a warmer climate. It came as no surprise that her favored and precious junior weyrwoman Zheria's gold was due to rise any day.

3566.05.22 AL: Zheria's gold Eveleth rose, making her High Reaches newest Weyrwoman. D'mon's bronze Thistreth caught her and became High Reaches new Weyrleader.

3572.04.22 AL: Thread returns and catches all of Pern off guard. It devastates the planet, kills entire family lines, and destroys many Holds and Halls that weren't made with stone or metal. It was first sighted around Telgar and moved its way south and west as the planet turned. Telgar was practically wiped off the map.

3572.13.19 AL: Echoes of Pern begins.

3573.04.25 AL: Lestenna's gold Uridith rose. V'kenti and his bronze Takarath were the chosen winners. x

3573.05.27 AL: Lestenna's gold Uridith clutched 22 eggs. (14 PC Eggs // 8 NPC Eggs) x

3573.06.19 AL: The Candidates are allowed to touch the eggs! x

3573.07.06 AL: The Tarot Clutch hatching begins! x It is promptly followed by a feast celebrated at High Reaches Weyr. x

3573.10.22 AL: Golden Vimiath flies! She is caught by lovable bronze Blundarth! x

3573.11.22 AL: Vimiath clutches a set of 25 eggs! The Spooky Clutch is here! x

3573.11.22 AL: Ruatha Hold is clamoring to become a Weyrhold and detach from Fort Weyr's protection. Given Ruatha Hold borders the every lovely Nabol Hold, there's rumor Gansley might be paying attention to any upheaval in order to help or hinder. For now, this is Fort Weyr's problem to figure out.

3573.11.28 AL: The Spooky Clutch Touching begins! It is almost a disaster as Vimiath almost bites the head off a Candidate who "hurts" an egg! Unfortunately, Talela collapses shortly after, and is found unconscious and gravely ill. x

3573.12.12 AL: The Spooky Clutch hatching begins! x It is a success, though there are many maulings, and Candidate Henwas (BastetAmun) is killed. A bonfire is held in his honor, and the feast goes on. Aunt Tally seems to have recovered, thankfully! x

3573.13.28 & 3574.01.01 AL: A big Turn's End Celebration is taking place in Tillek! x

3547.04.07 AL: Weyrless gold Susurinth's and bronze Cordrath's surprise clutch on a beach near Southern Boll is hatching! Originally pledged to the candidates of Fort, an ill-timed threadfall left Western and High Reaches scrambling to send candidates to impress the Tea Clutch! x

3574.04.18 AL: The Tarot clutch flew their first threadfall! While many comported themselves well, one weyrling was sadly lost between forever in the fray. x

3574.05.06 AL: The first PC Threadfall took place at High Reaches Weyr! x

3574.06.28 AL: Weyrless gold Rhianth rises over Nabol and High Reaches, to be caught by her longtime mate, brown Kronoseth! x
