New Captain.
New Mom.
There was plenty on the mind of the blue lioness, enough to keep her up at night and pacing to boot. It wasn't until the sun rose up and began to peek into the den did she realize the time of day. Her cubs had begun to stir and before she knew it the morning was in full swing.
Another sleepless night.
At least she could leave, take a break and allow Keir to watch the little ones while she got a walk in to wake her up a small amount - a trip to the township would do just that. Lions milling about and chattering away would be just what she needed.

Sigrun was doing her best to not make it abundantly clear that she was new here. The lioness had plenty of things to learn about her new home. She only knew one lion here and there was no chance in hell that she'd be making small talk about her new digs with her father anytime soon.
Instead, the white and green lioness had been lingering around the edge of what seemed to be the more populated areas of the pride, minding her own business while keeping an ear out for some chatter. Sigrun had been more near the center of it before she had resituated near the outskirts. Gods did these lions know how to gossip.
It was a colder morning. Sigrun, who hadn't yet become used to the bitter humidity of the coast, tucked her head to her chin. She felt her cheeks warm as they settled into the furs she wore around her shoulders. Her eyes fluttered and she considered retiring to a den somewhere before a figure caught her attention. Yellow eyes caught the blue lioness as she moved by. Hmh.
"Morn'." She didn't know what exactly it was about the lioness that compelled the greeting. Something about her looked… dignified. Even if she looked like she hadn't slept in ages. "Long night?"
Long night. Pff. Good first impression, Sig. She scoffed at herself silently. Chatter, clearly, was not her strong suit.

"Very long." Pink eyes raised, expecting to see a familiar face, but instead she was greeted with a pale lioness - furs draped over her shoulders and drawn together by a couple threads with baubles on them. Her eyes lowered slightly to take in the rest of the lioness, green markings stood out against the pale pelt, but seemed to compliment at the same time.
"A litter of six, versus two parents." The lioness moved to fully face her company. "The math just doesn't equate to a full nights sleep." This statement earned a chuckle from Zjarri. Now that she was firmly laughing at her own words she knew that some sleep was going to be needed, and soon.
Before speaking again she dropped her rump, finding that sitting was much easier a task than standing while she spoke. "Zjarri`fol." She offered, a polite smile on her lips. "You are?" In most cases manners eluded the Stormborn, but she had personally chosen to make some changes to that. Unfortunately that didn't mean she'd remember the name by the end of this conversation, a reality she hadn't encountered yet - but alas she hadn't met anyone new in quite sometime, the last of it being a couple Reavers who had accompanied her on the Viking that changed her life, and those names definitely had escaped her memory.

The lioness gave a singular breathy laugh at her response. A new mother, then. Of a larger litter, at that. It amazed her how populous this place was, though she figured there were resources enough to provide for them all. She herself had been an only child. But life alone out there was different. Different in many regards.
Sigrun repeated the name silently to herself, lips moving though no voice escaped. It was a familiar name, somehow. Something that she had heard through the gossip, perhaps. It took some looking over and some thinking before it came back to her.
The math just doesn't equate to a full nights sleep.
"Sigrun," she responded, nodding her head in a curt greeting. "And… I've heard of you. A bit." Yellow eyes traced over to a group of chattering lions a little ways away. "For a pride with such reputations, you have quite the network of gossip." The lioness motioned her head towards the group, to one lion in particular from whom much of the gossip seemed to be coming from. Sigrun didn't yet know that the lion was a bard and took particular pride in his gossip.
She still spoke of the Myrsky Syntynyt as though she were an outsider. The lioness mused to herself that she should be changing her tone. She was one of them now, after all.

"It's nice to meet you, Sigrun." Her polite smile continued and she was grateful she had begun to use it - the way the lioness spoke it was clear that perhaps she wasn't from these parts. "I hope you've only heard good things? The gossip can often times take on a whole new story all it's own." Another laugh, though this one sounded more alive, it seemed she was finding a second wind.
"Ah, yes." Zjarri`fol followed the eyes of her company to the source of a lot of the prides gossip, if asked she was sure he'd have said he was the best at the task of spreading the word. Who was she to argue? Though she didn't know him personally, she knew of him. "He's a local bard." The blue lioness offered, pink eyes returning to Sigrun. "He'd take plenty of pride in the gossip - it'd be of no surprise if he knew more about some of these lions than they knew of themselves." She mused lightly.
The irony in the matter was that it could possibly have been the truth, joke or not. The way rumors flew around here it was a wonder anyone had a lick of privacy. Especially those who rose through the ranks - the Captains, Priestesses and so on often found themselves to be the object of conversation in times where they were busying themselves with particular goals. "How long have you been here?" She was beginning to wonder if they bumped into each other by chance or with a purpose, what had those rumors told this lioness?oo DeD Hopefully it was okay to make some suggestions of the lion mentioned below. Of course what Zjarri knows is hearsay, so any of it could be false, if I assumed to much. <3

Sigrun made a musing noise, considering the black lion for a few moments. it'd be of not surprise if he knew more about some of these lions than they knew of themselves. Interesting. Word of mouth was quite the thing, and the ability to get people to listen to your words was a power… Blinking, the yellow eyes went back to the blue lioness.
"I hear you're a captain. From what I hear, females haven't always been able to hold such positions…" Her voice trailed. Had Sigrun come across the pride during the previous times that she had heard of it was likely she wouldn't have stayed. The thought made her nose wrinkle.
"I am… quite new. If that isn't terribly, terribly evident," A wry smile inched onto the corner of her mouth. "About a week, now. It's… ehm... a lot to take in." It had only been a week, certainly not enough time to shake off the feeling of culture shock.
Mysses Greenie Short post is short! And I don't mind the assumption at all 8D

"I am." Zjarri`fol responded, beaming with pride through the exhaustion. "It was. Many moons ago we suffered from males taking lead where they figured females could not. There have been some serious changes since then, even our Warlord is a female now." The changes within the pride, allowing for strong females to take on roles like Warlord, Captain and even Reaver was amazing. Had Zjarri been around she'd have fought that much harder to be where she was today. Even now her position earned a sideways glance once in a while, but she had earned it.
"You'll relax into your new setting rather quickly." Pink eyes gave another once over of Sigrun. "So long as you're willing to work hard at what you strive to accomplish. Is there any questions you had so far?" Being of a higher rank she wasn't shocked by being approached, especially by another female - Zjarri would support any female she could, especially considering all the females within the pride would now be potential role models for her own daughters.oo DeD Short post for me too hehe
