Silvana had had more than her share of work cut out for her upon her return. Still, she went about her work without complaint, though a few of the forest residents may have heard a tired grumble or two. She'd deny it. However, most days saw her crisscrossing the forest by use of her portals to deal with a number of corrupted beasts that had attempted to make a home of the peaceful forest in her absence. The worst of the invaders had been dealt with by now, she felt, but there was at least one other sizable source of corrupt energies prowling about. The others had been harder to ignore at first, being beasts that were not only violent, but clearly unstable and unpredictable. Those had been cleared out first, whether by force or by cleansing. With the more unpredictable elements taken care of, she finally had time to turn her attentions towards a curious problem. Something large had been preying on the creatures of her forest, but it wasn't as violent and indiscriminately destructive as some beasts had been. This one would take some effort to hunt down.
She just hoped it was nothing like the corrupted beast with the impervious hide she'd defeated once before.
Or worse, the devilish creature that had taken her out of commission and put her into the healing house at their last encounter.
It still worried her what had happened to the boy. But, it had been too long she'd been out of commission...and with no clues to follow, especially if they had left her forest, there was little she could do now to find out what had happened. with renewed vigor, she had returned to her job as the forest's protector, vowing that nothing like that would ever happen to denizens of her wood ever again.
And so the hunt continued.
A green figure seemed to drop right out of the very air itself and immediately blend into its surroundings. Behind her, a portal in the air shimmered and closed in on itself before vanishing from sight. Bright eyes took in the scene and she moved swiftly and silently, like a doe through the forest. She paused over the pile of 'trophies', bending over them to lightly flick the feathers and bones aside with one finger. Another one. She was getting closer, she could feel it. What sort of creature she was pursuing, she still wasn't sure, but he knew she was closing in on it. Why did it leave such tokens in its wake? For what purpose? Was it killing to eat? Then why leave such piles neatly behind? It wasn't killing everything in a rampage, so it wasn't mad like her previous pursuits. At least, not in the same way, perhaps.
Shelving her curiosity until she could find answers, she focused her senses and her very awareness on the forest. Tell me, where is it? Where has it gone? Her bond with the forest had remained as strong as ever, despite her extended absence. She could not only feel the presence of intruders within the woods, but it was as if the trees themselves aided her in finding these strangers. The tug pulled her in one direction and with light footsteps, she set off in pursuit, eventually taking to the tree branches.
