Many things had happened in her life up to this point. Newly appointed Captain, new Mother and now she would be taking a trip with her own band of lions to seek out something that Tethys was fighting to find. She was proud of her family, beyond the small blip her Father had become, him aside everything was going incredibly well.
"Cmon." She said, encouraging two of her daughters. The litter was dominantly female and she couldn't have been happier - of course she loved her boy as well, but the females were her pride and joy. Since she would be leaving soon, probably sooner than she would have liked she wanted to invest as much time as she could with her cubs, the newest little devils in her life. "If you don't hurry up we won't be able to fit in a snack." She teased the pair of youths at her tail. The plans for the day would be to practice some sparring, see the river and perhaps get a snack somewhere in between.
Her goal was to teach them the basics and encourage them to seek out getting even more information within the pride. Sure she may not be around, but their father would be and some other strong female role models. She never once doubted the prides growing number of females, especially if the rumor was true and Sabia had fallen pregnant herself - she mused at the idea of that particular lioness being a mother.
----------
"Coming." The small voice shouted from a den that had started to become a little crowded as of late. She admired the way her siblings could contort to lay about, but Makuu had begun to feel uncomfortable in such a cramped space - whether others felt the same way she didn't know. "Where are we going today, Mom?" Pink eyes were glued to the quick blue form of her Mother ahead of her, she only barely registered that another sibling was coming along.
She gave her mane a good toss as they walked, the braid, an apparent tradition within the pride for it's members, had become something of a nuisace. Yet she proudly wore the braid, thinking of it as some form of symbol of their strength and unity.
"Are you going to tell us?" She inquired.

Vígdís had been taking a cat-nap when she heard her mother moving, as if about to leave. She had told her and her siblings that she wasn't staying long, resulting in Ví sleeping lightly incase she were called in the middle of the night... or broad daylight, as was this case.
The rest of her siblings were sleeping when the white cub bound to her feet ready to follow her mother. She'd already made a contingency plan for if her mom refused to let her go; sneaking along couldn't be that hard after all. To Ví's dismay, not all of her siblings had been asleep, though. She wrinkled her nose, knowing another cub's presence would make going with mom all the more difficult.
Mother, after noticing the cubs, was quick to explain she wasn't leaving-leaving. Just going on a little walk and the two were welcome to come with her. Joy surged through Ví.. and a hint of resentment. She would have preferred it just be her and mother, rather than Makuu tagging along. Vígdís had a sore spot when it came her mother's attention, as was the case with many cubs. Determined not to let this ruin her time with mother, though, the cub kept pace and soon her frustration was dimming in light of getting to spend more with her than expected.
"Snack? Do we get to hunt it ourselves?" Excitement, and nervousness, caused Ví to stumble for a moment but she caught back up quickly.

The walk had become more or less an outing for two rather ambitious youths that had eagerly awaited the stirring of their Mother. Zjarri`fol expected that until she left for her Viking she'd have to assume that any spare time she had would be spent just the same as today. So instead of getting frustrated or acting as exhausted as she felt she chose to smile and thank the gods that only two had woken up instead of all of them. "So long as you will eat what you are able to catch, you most certainly can hunt for yourselves." She figured that a hunt done by a couple of youths would be for some small prey animals.
"Did either of you have anything you'd like to do while we are out today?" Her head turned and pink eyes caught sight of Vigdis who had been so excited to complete a hunt all of her own - she expected that if any of her daughters would strive for something more it'd be this cub, who also happened to be the palest of her litter.
"Makuu, Vigidis?" She said, as her head turned away from the pair. She had no intentions on filling the cubs in on her choice of destinations, not yet.
----------
Makuu lagged behind her sister and Mother a little bit, still wiping a small amount of sleep from her eyes as they made progress from the den and out into the world surrounding it. "We really get to do that?" She said, her voice was weak as she suppressed a yawn, once the yawn passed she bounded up to walk beside her sister. "I'm starving." Makuu pointed out, not very helpful, but a fact.
"We could just explore more, maybe up the cliffs?" To be offered such a thing as freedom to choose had boggled the mind of the dark cub. Such a thing was few and far between given the chances of going missing or being snatched up were possible. The cubs weren't aware of it yet, but their home had a number of enemies which were made through their pillaging and various other means.
No pride had dared to face them, but the possibility was always there.

Ví wouldn't admit she liked the idea of going up the cliffs, simply because her sister had suggested it. Not to be mistaken, she loved her siblings. Only the problem was, Vígdís had thin skin when it came to hurt feelings whether it be because she was bested by her siblings in a scuffle, or simply because she looked different from the rest. She wouldn't dare call attention to it either, but she'd heard someone (not her mother or father) once refer to her as the runt. Whatever that was, it wasn't a good thing, given the adults laughed about it afterward...
Not to be deterred, the little white cub had a brilliant idea. "Mother, could you show us what you do? Can't you take us somewhere and show us what re-ref-reaving? is?" Ví stared up at her mother with the widest, most pleading eyes she could muster (while still walking and not tripping over her own four paws). "We're old enough, I promise!"

Zjarri had found a walking speed that allowed both cubs the opportunity to keep up with her - she didn't believe in giving them everything, but she didn't want to exhaust them just on the trip to whichever destination was chosen. Two options were brought forward, cliffs or an actual outing. Fortunately she had planned for this, planned for the question about completing a Viking, becoming a reaver and so on.
"Is that what you would both like to do?" Pink eyes closed briefly, she paused in her step, expecting that the cubs would stop as well and she turned her head to look over her shoulder. "Would you both like to go on a Viking?" Her plan had been in place shortly after having given birth - before she knew that Sabia was expecting. Her right hand lioness aided her in creating a false scenario of goods in a small unsuspecting zone - a fake Viking could be had.
"I don't knooow.."
She responded dramatically. Pinks eyes widening largely to create a suspense. "I'm not sure my two little ones, I don't know if you two are ready for such an adventure..." A small smile crept to her lips, she just couldn't help it.
----------
Makuu hadn't thought of it, but she concurred that Vi had the right idea. "Vi, you're so smart!" She stated, a small whine indicating that she had wished that she had thought of it first. However the wish was forgotten when their Mother began to wonder out loud if they were even ready, how could she even wonder such a thing?
"I'm ready, I can do it." The tiny, dark cub puffed out her chest trying to make herself as big as she could, of course she just looked adorable instead of fearsome, but none the less her eyes narrowed and she gave a small and feeble growl. "Like Vi said, we are old enough!"

"Oh please Mother, please!" Taking the reassurance from Makuu, Ví ran to her mother's side and stood on her back legs, stretching up rest her front paws on her mother's shoulder. "We can do this! Especially if we have you! You never fail!" She wanted to show her how serious she was--how desperately she wanted to go on a viking and she tried to shine that seriousness from her eyes and expression.
"And If me and Kuu don't know how, you can show us!" The 'don't know how' was for Makuu's sake. Vígdís had no doubt in her abilities (with no foundation for such a belief, note). She also tried to keep her whining out of her voice, having noticed mother was less... prone to agree to their wishes if too many of them whined at once. Ví also wanted to be mature--was mature--for their mother. She threw a glance back at Makuu and then up to their mother again. "Pleeeease?"
Even so: if Zjarri didn't take the two cubs on a viking today, Ví had a plan in the works. While she was only a so many months old, she believed she needed to be out proving herself. She was capable of reaving, she knew it! She would just have to sneak out and show them. Once she returned victorious, they'll all feel silly that they hadn't allowed her on a reaving before. The idea made her smile a little up at their mother, desperately wanting to make her proud.

The desperation and preparedness were read loud and clear at the way her pale daughter leaped up at the chance to do some reaving, it made her heart warm and fuzzy to think these little ones would grow up to be strong independent females someday. Those small paws against her shoulder reminded her of their age though and she rolled her shoulder to nudge the youth free from her side. "I never fail, hm?" She snickered at the idea of having never failed, that would have been a great win and yet she knew that she had failed many times - especially when she chose to trust. For now she decided to allow the cubs to think that way. "Yes, yes - I've not failed a single day in my life!" Her pink eyes widened in a dramatic way.
"Alright, alright.." She said, giving into the pair of large eyes that stared up at her with the largest amount of enthusiasm that she had seen in days. "You want to go reaving? Well then let's go." The blue lioness continued on their walk, expecting the cubs to be trailing along as excitedly as they had been - this would be quite the adventure and she hoped this little test run would lead to many more down the road.
----------
Makuu wasn't sitting idly by, not entirely - though all of the attention appeared to be on her sister for the moment. She was becoming used to playing second fiddle and had begun to take on that role once again. This wasn't the demeanor of a Captain, but she'd make a fine Reaver. "So where is it Ma?" She inquired lightly, paying attention to the surroundings that they had stopped in and tried to absorb what she could. "Is it really really far?" Her pink eyes, which matched their mothers, were wide and staring at Zjarri now.
"My paws are already sore - I hope it's not far." She muttered to herself, falling victim to a pity party all about herself. When she received a look of narrowed eyes from her mother she tried to straighten up and even sped herself up a little to fall in line with her pale sibling. "Do you think it's far?" She asked her and nudged at her side abruptly as she looked for an answer.

Vígdís, having been nudged from Mother's side, sat on her haunches and stared up at their mother as she spoke. Zjarri seemed to almost think allowed in a manner she did from time to time, Ví had noticed. (Alright, alright.) The white cub sat frozen as a statute, not bothering to breathe. (Well then let's go.) The only movement that Ví made initially was the widening of her eyes from large to extra large. Her little mouth opened in surprise, but she quickly shook herself back into gear when Mother began walking onward. "Wait, really?!" Her voice was an octave higher than it might otherwise have been, making her sound like a squeaky mouse that had been stepped on. Her feet was clumsy in her excitement as she tried to catch back up to her mother. She wasn't paying as much attention to her feet because she was trying to verify in her head that their mother had just agreed to take them on a reaving. As many times as she had asked before, it just now became clear to Vígdís she never really expected her mother to actually say yes.
Ví took their mother's smile as positive sign, her own face spreading into a beaming grin. They were going on a reaving! With renewed enthusiasm, the white cub nearly ran ahead of their mother. Realizing she didn't know where they were going, she turned and waited for Mother and Moo to catch back up. Falling in pace beside her sister. Looking to her right in response to the nudge, Ví's grin didn't falter. "I hope so!" She whispered her response excitedly, trying to not be irritated by Moo's less than enthusiastic mood. Nudging her sister back, Ví whispered less loudly. "Hey, this is going to our first reaving! We're going to be so ahead of the rest of the cubs, and think how jealous Smol and the rest of them are going to be." Vígdís used "them" to refer to their brothers and sister's left behind in the den, napping of all things. The thought made Ví snicker.
