Physical Description: Tall and willowy, Ninion's once-broad frame has been reduced, somewhat, by the creeping crawl of time. Her long tumble-blonde hair has been streaked slowly to a more platinum tint than its previous glitter, and more often ends up let loose to do as it likes these days—no need to stand on formality and spend precious hours doing it up when she has so few left, right? She still takes care to apply subtle makeup, especially to bring out her eyes (green, like the sea, she'll insist, though age has paled them somewhat as well—not nearly enough to damage her sight however), and dresses well though not nearly as lavishly as she once did in her prime. All her clothes are built for work and comfort (less chafing on these old bones please, dear), as she's still quite active, but where a modern goldrider's gear might be built for long-term combat, more leather than stitching, she still finds deft needlework a necessity, and leaves the riding gear as a bit of an add-on, all told.
Personality: On the surface Ninion is funny, fun to be around, relaxed with herself and the world, and old enough to have stopped letting what anyone says or thinks bother her. She has a widely-accepting nature that seems content to afford everyone a second and even third chance, and is more humorous about slights than a younger version of herself might have been. However, such outlooks are not without their drawbacks—her willingness to let anyone mess up and stumble without help over and over means that she is slow to offend, but also can stymie others' growth. When she has a chance to say something, to be part of a teaching moment... she tends to shrug and leave it to someone else.
In her heart of hearts, she's got herself together, and Goenith well in-hand, and that's really all she owes to anyone. She's done her time (easy and effortless as it was in a time before thread) and should be owed that deference. Now, that doesn't mean you have to treat her like a queen, not at all—just accept that she doesn't have to do the same level of work as others (and not just because she's semi-retired already!) And honestly no one has any business telling her what to do at this point. Younger her took orders. Old her is more inclined to shrug off reprimands and judgement when they're handed down to her.

History: When it comes to her life before Goenith, Ninion doesn't like to talk about it. As far as records mention, she was a stands-impression, at least as much as one could be back in those days. Goenith's mother was unattached to any Weyr and laid her clutch while visiting the Hold Ninion lived in, and while her parents had no real interest in seeing their child 'stolen away' into some no-longer-needed class of persons, when the furious little gold attempted to shove past her mother and bite at her father for barring her way, there was no other option.
For her part, Ninion was more than happy to be free of the Hold, free to rove the world and do anything she liked. who would ever try to stop her from being herself and doing what she wanted and when she wanted, now with Goenith, who was only ever sweet for her, at her side? For turns they lived it up, taking more or less no responsibility for chasing their desires, hopping from place to place and having fun. The world had no need of them, which was wonderfully freeing, and in time they began to realize that while not needed, they were wanted in some places. And that made all the difference. Eventually the pair came to roost in Western Weyr. Unlike in places like High Reaches, there was nothing much expected of them but to get along, and it afforded them both an aspect of socialization that they had been missing for a while. Goenith, of course, quickly regretted the choice to move in among so very many noisy, nosy, bothersome dragons (namely any dragons), but Ninion found herself too amused to leave.
They stuck around the Weyr ever since, whiling away an easy twenty turns before thread returned. Then and only then was Goenith more happy to be at the Weyr than Ninion... because she got to fight. They both know it won't be for long—while Goenith is still strong as ever, age at last has begun to grasp for her rider, and not even the gold's fury and daring can keep the scoring threads away forever.

Physical Description: Goenith is a large gold. Very. Large. Her natural sharp edges (she has not been anything of soft or round since her hatchling days) have only grown sharper with age. Her wings are broader than usual, only adding to her sense of calamitous presence, with tattered edges despite a life lived mostly in thread-free skies—her many flights have not always been loving and gentle, and her lack of caution once thread did return have all left their marks.
Personality: Goenith is not your friend. She is not your protector, and she is no one's queen. Her hatred for thread and desire to fight is why she fights even though she could be retired—it has nothing to do with those souls counting on her and her rider (and all the other dragons), and it never will. Aside from when she rises (and often even then) she would prefer to spend her time in solitude with her rider. She thrives on action, not sitting around and talking, and probably would have rather been born a green than a gold... excepting that she enjoys throwing her weight around, and being able to press other dragons when push comes to shove.
She has never had a taste for rank—it involves making nice, and caring about others, and just isn't for her. Inversely, she's a gluttonous creature, and spent many of her younger years enjoying being treated a cut above the rest by virtue of her hide's color. It's only now that thread has returned that she really has come to dislike that aspect of herself—she wants to be able to flame, not just fly, and would probably trade having ever been able to clutch for that ability. Unable to attack thread herself, she is even more of a dare-devil than she probably ought to be, often risking injury in order to let her rider flame thread in her stead. She would much rather fight than catch those dragons too weak to last the fall, but thankfully, for all her strength of will and resilience, she simply cannot deny her rider's more tempered and sensible commands.
