Dooley had sort of followed Kaelyn, after their conversation he had learned where she was going and ultimately he decided he needed to come here and join. She may never admit it to anyone but he needed to protect her. He'd stalked the border all day asking if anyone had seen the deep brown lioness with a fiery personality and a sun upon her coat. Eventually he found out she had and that ultimately sealed the deal.
Dooley stood at the border and roared a challenge, he knew how to fight, he wasnt really big in to fighting, if anything he was a soft touch but his childhood in the firekin had taught him how to handle himself. He knew how to throw a punch and keep on going and his sheer massive size put him at an advantage most of the time. Of course he knew he had a disadvantage against fast opponents but he let that thought slip away as he waited for his challenge."Dooley, be careful." A small jackal stood a short distance behind the big tan maned lion. Wessex was worried, she had never seen Dooley so determined to do something before but she knew he had made up his mind. That didn't stop her worrying though.

He had a hangover... An extraordinarily bad one that he really only had himself to blame for. He couldn't even remember what they had been celebrating at this point. For all he knew one of his band had gotten engaged, someone might have died, or someone had achieved something awesome and yet all he had to show for it was an amazing headache.
You can imagine how he felt when he heard the roar.
In hindsight he simply shouldn't have been this close to the border, he should have slept this off and let someone else take the hit on this one. Alas, when it came to ones duties one couldn't ignore them - he'd never live it down if it was discovered he had developed selective hearing and conveniently not attended the challenge...
Fortunately, Tethys didn't leave Dooley hanging for too long as he walked out, his expression still one containing a partial wince as though loud noises were just not something he had any appreciation for right now.
"Gods almighty let's make this quick, my head is pounding," he muttered.
Quite the welcome!

Dooley gave a nod, he had no problem what so ever getting through this as quickly as possible. He wanted to get in and find Kaelyn as soon as possible. "No problem friend." He positioned himself in a crouch and pounced before any more, less than pleasantries, could be exchanged. Normally he would exchange pleasant chatter but it defiantly seemed his opponent wasn't for that.
Using his pure strength, he opted to topple the stormborn captain in one hit, that would at least relieve him of having to battle and get him in tot he lands quickly. He'd used this move before, on wilderbeast, it always worked on them so hopefully it would work on the pale lion before him.Wessex growled and barked at the lion captain, a frown on her muzzle. She didn't like this one bit, she didn't think Dooley had thought this through at all and she was terrified he was going to get hurt. Her tail swept between her legs and her ears flattened. She hoped this would go well, seeing her friend hurt would just be a tragedy.

He might have been hungover but he wasn't stupid.
As the lion threw himself towards the Captain, Tethys made the decision to simply leap out of the way. When it came to hunter and prey, it was important to remember when your opponent had the same agility as you. Granted, he didn't necessarily have the same technique when it came to landing at this moment in time given he was already debilitated.
...Tethys might have leapt out of the way of that assault, but that didn't mean he wasn't exposed to any follow-ups. Provided that Dooley didn't lose his pace, he would be able to keep up and continue to throw his paws at the Captain...

Dooley wasnt that surprised that the other male lion leapt out of the way. At least he had an idea of the other males skill level. He was skilled, well he would have to be. From what the lionesshad told him she was going here to be welcomed. They welcomed fighters.
Turning quickly Dooley once again leapt for the dragon marked male, but instead of continuing his jump, he stops, grins and swipes a paw out swinging for Tethys' head.Wessex sits slowly, it seemed Dooley was doing okay. He hadn't been hit yet and it looked like he was working hard to keep the other lion on his paws. Still, she wouldn't be happy until Dooley was done fighting.

That feint!
Tethys had ducked the wrong way and as soon as he caught the feint in the corner of his eye he knew what was coming. He was already releasing a pre-emptive groan as Dooley smacked him upside the head. Now if he hadn't had a headache before, he definitely had one now. Sweet merciful gods but if his ears weren't ringing now. Oh but if he didn't find himself some nice pain relief soon he was just going to fall over and tell his warband to give him a viking burial when he finally died from cant-go-on-ness.
Nevertheless, Dooley wasn't going to get away with simply smacking the Captain around. He didn't recover terribly quickly, but he recovered fast enough to return the blow with one of his own. It wasn't the quickest of assaults, and certainly not the most accurate, but it was going in the right direction and he'd taken a wide enough swing that he should at least catch something even if he didn't cause significant damage.
...Yup, next time he was staying by one of the dens and quietly dying until the hangover subsided. Hindsight was always better than foresight and it always showed up at the worst moments...

The painted lion felt a little pride at surprising the other lion and landing a square hit. Of course he wasnt entirely expecting the return blow, he managed to move, but only a little, he felt the swipe on his shoulder and knew a bruise would be there in the morning. The big male jumped away and moved in a slow circle. He was trying to think of his next move, how could he take this lion down and finally be able to step upon these lands.
With a huff Dooley started to stalk carefully. "Hey how much further do I need to go here?" He smiles carefully searching for an opening to maybe pin the other male and see this fight done.
He decided the easiest course of action would be another full on brawl attack. Surely that head shot had at least left the other lion a bit dazed. Hopefully his dive would see the other male pinned and he could finally go in search of his friend.Wessex once again barked as Dooley received a shoulder strike. She hoped he wasnt too badly hurt. part of her wanted to go and check but this fight wasn't over. Dooley had made her promise she would stay on the sidelines but it was so hard to just watch.

Oh boy, that was going to be one hell of a hit and Tethys knew it. The lion deliberately braced himself for the blow and managed to deflect part of it. It would still bruise him and his muscles would ache for a while, but he wasn't going to get anymore pretty scars for the time being. If there was one thing he had taken from this entire, albeit brief encounter, this lion knew exactly how to use his weight to his advantage. Wherever he came from, they'd taught him how to make use of what he had and he couldn't fault Dooley for that.
Still, he really wasn't in the mood to be a punching back for the rest of the morning. Given that he could already see that the lion not only had potential, but talent, he was wasting his time in being subjected to further blows. Oh no doubt Tethys would have recovered and eventually fought back, he'd sober up eventually, but how black and blue would he be by then?
He was stubborn, but he wasn't that stubborn.
"All right," he thrust Dooley away from him, demonstrating he did have his own strength even if he wasn't the best at using it when hungover. "See that log over there," he pointed towards the fallen log, not entirely petrified yet so it would still take a fair amount of force to break. "Put a proper dent in that and you're in," he said.
If Dooley could cause that thing to crack enough, then he sure as hell at the strength behind him to do enough damage to make the more grumpy Vikings happy...

Dooley stepped backwards, he sits slowly and watched as the white and blue lion. He looks over at the log and smiles. That would be easy enough. The massive lion got to his paws and walked over to the log. He rolls his shoulders. He could split thi slog. He had the weight, he had the power he just had to use it.
Taking a few steps backwards he took a little run up to the log and using all four paws he unsheathed his claws and punched in to the dark log. He jumped and landed squarely and looked at the log, as split had formed down it and he gave a nod. "That do?" He raised a brow at Tethys hopefully. This guy seemed rather sensible, hopefully he wasnt winding him up.Wessex shuffled a little closer to the conversation. She twitched her big ears and raised a brow at the two males. Why couldn't Dooley have done this in the first place?

"That'll do," Tethys confirmed and nodded towards Wessex. "If that pup is yours make sure she stays beside you as we go in, otherwise you'll lose the right to call her your own," he advised and strode back the way he had come. It seemed that Dooley had indeed passed his Askorun but would receive no fanfare, then again few of them did... Tethys hadn't received one either.
Tethys would do his duty and take the lion to the Lawspeakers to have him acknowledged as an official freeborn, but he also saw it fitting to make sure that this new freeborn also knew his thrall was fair game if she wandered too far before he was acknowledged. If she did wander, then Dooley was going to have to do more than snap a few logs to get her back depending on the Viking that took a liking to a new pup!
Still, today would be a good day for Dooley... he was now one of the Stormborn and he could indeed pursue the lioness he desired.
