Meet C'ryn

User Image
Name: C'ryn(Formerly Caderyn)
Age: 18(Aged Up)
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Craft: N/A
Rank: Weyrling(Formerly Candidate)
Location: High Reaches Weyr

Physical Description:
Caderyn stands at six foot two inches tall with a very slight muscular build. His hair is black and when down reaches his chin, but he normally has it pulled back in a ponytail when he is busy. His eyes are a greenish blue and they always seemed to be narrowed in either thought or some sort of suspicion. When Caderyn speaks his voice is deep causing him not to have to speak very loudly for him to be heard. He has a regal posture to him that he uses to hide any insecurities that he may have about himself. Caderyn’s nose is a little crooked thanks to it being broken during a fight with his step-brothers when he was younger.

Personality:
[+/-] Give me the moons and the stars: Caderyn knows he is destined for something great or at least some glory as a warrior. He takes this idea from his father A’dras who was a powerful wingrider and a strong man who cared for his loved ones. It is a very idealistic ambition that he has, so much so that he tends to forget that the best way to go to the top is making followers and friends to help raise you to the top. Caderyn is a great leader and can help bring others to him who want to follow him.

Caderyn’s ambition does have faults as he does not know when to stop. He wants to continue reaching higher and higher, going forth to whatever goal awaits him. Asking the boy what he thinks the world holds for him will get you a smirk and one answer. “Whatever I can take from it.” This is easily troubling to some of those around him as he can be seen as ruthless to get anything that he wants. He has a hard time making friends as no one has, of yet, been more than a stepping block for him up into the rest of the world. Those people who have been drawn to Caderyn by his natural charisma are seen as pawns by him in a chess game where he is the king.

[+] Monument to my sins: While Caderyn is a good ‘little soldier’ he does not take orders and follow them out to the t. Once again the boy learned this thanks to his step-father who would give orders that always had something hidden. This made Caderyn begin to analyze things a lot earlier then he would have, it also cause the boy to make his own decisions when it came to carrying out orders given to him. If an order is straightforward Caderyn will follow it with no questions asked, but if there seems to be something different going on he will look at the bigger picture and determine the best course of action from there. While it does seem as if he is going against what he is told, Caderyn always makes sure that in some way or another what was asked of him gets done.

[+] Boy Scouts: While Caderyn’s ambition, when presented with an opportunity for him to rise, will cause him to cut other lose the boy does have a nicer side to him that he does not like to show. For all of the ruthlessness that he shows outwardly he has a caring heart that doesn’t like to see others in pain. Caderyn is the kind of guy who would help a little old lady cross the street, help a little girl get her pet out from where its hiding and even help a woman carry her baggage to the home. He has a very noble side to him and he had to hide while he lived with his mother and step-father. His constant good deeds caused him to be made fun of by his step siblings and even though his mother protested it caused Caderyn to create a mask and keep this side of himself hidden. Caderyn can be a bit of a pushover when it comes to young women as he can be seen as a bit of a chivalrous man and sees women, though they are strong, deserve to be helped and taken care of.

[-]Hide your face: Caderyn doesn’t like to show some of his true self to anyone and it hinders him more than he is even aware of. Caderyn has the ability to be something more than he is, like everyone else, but he keeps himself from achieving it. Without showing more of his traits that endear him to those around him, Caderyn isn’t allowing himself the chance to grow as a leader. He pushes people away from him because he can act slightly callous or even ruthless and most people don’t want to take the chance to dig deep past his problems to look at the real Caderyn hiding beneath. He has learned that he has to have a mask hiding the true him away from the world or else the world will cause you problems.

[-] Don’t stand too close to me: While Caderyn can be popular when it comes to fickle friends he doesn’t have close friends that will stand by him through thick and thin. Caderyn is honestly afraid to form these kind of relationships because of what it means he will have to show. He doesn’t like people getting hurt because of his actions and there are times when he will act rashly and not consider the consequences when it comes to ambition. For Caderyn when he uses someone who has put their trust into him and he betrays it, especially if he does so without thinking. It torments him when he this happens and he is trying to reconcile it as much as he can. He has tried to have closer friends over the years but when he showed two sides, acting differently when just around them and when around others, they always would leave saying he needed to choose. So while Caderyn is not antisocial or without any empathy towards others he is hesitant to let any humans past his true barriers from the fear of not wanting to hurt them but from not wanting to get hurt himself either. The best friends that Caderyn can have are those who will understand that he might use them to help himself get to where he needs but he does protect those pieces.

Where Have You Been?

Caderyn was the product of a flight between his mother Branwyn of Green Delyth and A’dras of Bronze Gareth. He was born in High Reaches Weyr, where his mother was from, and spent his entire life in the Weyr. He was raised with his mother alongside his twin half-brothers Henwas and Huarwar who were born of another dragonrider, G’hin of Blue Mawrth. G’hin was a rival of A’dras, always trying to one up the other rider. Henwas and Huarwar grew up knowing of their father’s rivalry with A’dras and treated their brother Caderyn the same way. Because the threat of thread was in the distance Branwyn worked on helping to raise her own boys in the weyr though she did find herself wondering some if the three boys would be better off in crèche.

With his elder brothers constantly tormenting him, Caderyn learned to keep his true self hidden away from the world. He started to enjoy the company of his mother and animals more than other humans. This changed when he was ten years old and was wandering around the weyr. He ran across his brothers and their friends bullying a group of younger children. Anger flared at Caderyn at this sight and he rushed over confronting his brother’s and getting in their way. Henwas was angry at being called out as a coward in front of his friends that he threw a punch at Caderyn. The punch connected and broke Caderyn’s nose but woke something up in the boy that he had never been able to show before. He lunged at Henwas and pinned his brother to the ground, punching him in the face over and over and when Huarwar tried to pull Caderyn off of Henwas, Caderyn just pushed his brother back. Huarwar rushed from the group to get their mother but the two boys were pulled apart by both G’hin and A’dras. G’hin was glaring at A’dras telling him to get his ‘brat’ under control but A’dras kept calm taking Caderyn away from the area.

Caderyn didn’t apologize for attacking Henwas when he was alone with his father. He explained that the other had been bullying others and he had finally gotten fed up with it. A’dras listened to his son as he spoke and waited to speak to him. He told Caderyn that he wasn’t in the wrong but attacking and not stopping is giving into your rage and that is when you go from protecting someone to just fighting. Branwyn was worried about Caderyn when he and A’dras returned home. Caderyn watched his mother and father talking for a moment and then snuck near the door to peak out when he heard his mother’s cry. What he saw was his father standing over the slumped form of G’hin. Branwyn rushed out there to the two of them and Caderyn was horrified as he saw his father run. Caderyn didn’t know what happened to his father or where he went the only thing that continued to bother him was why his father, such a brave man, had killed G’hin and then ran.

When Caderyn turned fourteen years old he went for his first standing. He was not chosen but the prospect of being able to become a dragonrider like his father was a very strong ambition. He wanted to prove that his father did not taint him and that he could and would be a better man and soldier. He is still waiting to Impress but he knows that he will.

Thread returned in at the end of Caderyn's 16th year, after multiple tries to stand, and failing to Impress. He continues to not worry about impressing quite yet, though he is beginning to worry and he finds a dire need in wanting to help fight the Threadfall. He worries for his mother as she takes place in flights, though he was proud of his Weyr for being prepared.

Meet Bronze Aresoth

Written by Masterharper
Colored by Masterharper

Origin of Name:
The Emperor card is often associated with the planet Mars. This planet was named after the Roman god, who was associated with the greek god, Ares. While the god Mars was considered more of a fatherly figure, Ares was known as the god of the war.

Inspiration: The Emperor Tarot Card is the fourth card of the Major Arcana. It is considered the opposite of the Empress card, and encompasses power, authority, control, and protection. It is often associated with the planet Mars, and Aries the god of War.

Personality:
Aresoth is, perhaps, the most stereotypical bronze dragon High Reaches Weyr has seen in Turns. This particular dragon knows that he is king, or at least, of great importance to his clutchmates, as well as all Pern. From the moment he hatched, Aresoth has always been fearless. He's is confident without becoming arrogant, and is incredibly blunt. He has no time for games, and is known to be direct and straight to the point in his conversations. This can come across as tactless, but he sees no reason to sugar coat the truth. Aresoth will call a spade a spade, and while it can come off as abrupt,or might wound feelings, he will never intentionally wound someone with his words.

Aresoth is naturally a good leader and a good dragon. He will be the first to volunteer for a task, no matter how his rider feels, and will defend his clutchmates, wingmates, and his Weyr to the death. He is paternal to those beneath him, knowing well his responsibility to care for them. His clutchsibs and blues and green dragons in particular, if not outwardly against him, will find a supportive and encouraging bronze. Just because they're the rabble doesn't mean he has to be rude.

Very little surprises this bronze; he makes it his business to know everybody else's business. Not because he's a gossip --hardly!-- but because he wants to be prepared for every possible situation. So the bronze will forever be alert. He will listen to the lessons given to his rider, he will listen to the concerns of his clutchmates, and he will be the first to object to any order given him that doesn't make sense.

While Aresoth won't blindly listen to a superior, he does understand the chain of command. While he knows he as the very bottom most rung as a Hatchling, he certainly has the drive and desire and cleverness to make something of his life. Aresoth has no intentions on staying at the bottom -- he will do everything in his power to rise up. When Aresoth puts his mind to do something, he will stop at nothing to complete it.

Unfortunately, this bronze has a few bad habits. He can be demanding of his rider, as well as his clutchmates. If he can do something, then they surely they can too. Furthermore, he has an expectation that he should be obeyed. He is a bronze, he is a born leader -- when he gives commands, he expects those beneath him to listen.

If Aresoth isn't careful, his orders and demands can give way to a need for control. Aresoth likes to be in control. He believes in himself, an doesn't always trust others to do the right thing. So it stands, this bronze must be careful to avoid trying to control his fellow cluchmates or future wingriders. The more power he's given, the more he'll find reason to use it. He will tighten his grip on others when he feels they're pulling back.

Challenging Aresoth, especially when he feels like he's losing control, can cause for the bronze to turn aggressive. This is a rare side of the creature, but when push comes to shove, Aresoth will bare his fangs, and use his brute strength to get his way. He will not hesiate to throw his weigh, and the power of his shiny hide, around to get his way. He doesn't think he's being unreasonable; so long as those beneath his care know that he will think in their best interests, and obey, there is no reason for any fuss or fight.

His rider will need to keep this side of Aresoth in check, lest the bronze walk the line of protagonist to antagonist.

Positive Traits: Alert, Brave, Energetic, Direct, Lawful
Negative Traits: Aggressive, Controlling, Demanding
Adult Size: 45'
Physical Attributes: Aresoth is big. Very big. He is big as a hatchling and will continue to be large as he grows. He's well proportioned but very muscular. This makes him slow in the air and in flight. He's essentially a tank -- twisting, turning, and speed are difficult for him to obtain, but he can take damage, and he can stay in flight for long periods of time. Aresoth's size can cause joint problems as he ages. He will always, always, always prefer to fall from some height or ledge to take flight, whenever possible, as opposed to leaping from the ground. When he does so, it's always a clunky, and graceless maneuver.

Additional Notes: Aresoth heavily prefers to chase golds and isn't often willing to make permanent attachment. Why shouldn't all women be his? Should he bother chasing a green, she should understand it's an great honor, and if he doesn't win (no matter the color) his rider will find one very cross bronze.

He did have a close bond with Zenobiath while in the egg, and despises Elzebuth.

Theme Song: Princes of the Universe, by Queen

Why Me?
Caderyn was a natural fit for Aresoth -- the boy has the desire to achieve greatness, and he can do so with Aresoth as his wings. This bronze admires Caderyn's desire to rise through the ranks, and has every intention of making sure they go straight to the top. The bronze knows that together, they could very well run the Weyr, and has plans on doing what he can to make his way to the top. Unlike with others, Caderyn needn't hide his feelings, or his goodness, from Aresoth. This bronze is a good bronze, at the end of the day, and would not have chosen Caderyn if he did not appreciate his kind heart, and quiet caring nature. There is no shame in being good or doing the right thing, and both rider and dragon can keep one another accountable when their ugly sides start to show. Caderyn can temper Aresoth's aggression and controlling nature when things don't go his way, while Aresoth can keep his rider from becoming too ruthless or callous of those around him.

Name:Myrddin
Age: Still a Hacthling

Personality: Myrddin is keen on keeping Caderyn on his toes. A hellraiser of teeth and claws, he is good practice for Caderyn as he prepares to Impress a dragon one day. Mryddin enjoys hunting anything that moves, and likes to steal anything that is shiny like his own hide. He has a lot of growing up to do, and many things to learn.

You've got a Friend in Me

"I've been watching you, dad. Ain't that cool?"
A'dras has always been a role model to C'ryn all of his life. His father was a man to be proud of and take after. He does his best to make his father proud, though he has begun to make choice more on what he believes instead of what his father would find pleasing.

Caderyn
We Are Golden by Mika
Teenage dreams in a teenage circus
Running around like a clown on purpose
Who gives a damn about the family you come from?
No giving up when you?re young and you want some

Kick a** (We are young) by Mika
I could change the world
I can make it better
Kick it up and down
Took a chance on me
When you fake a smile
And you think you're better
Gonna put it down
Whip it at your feet

Suo Gân by N/A(this version was composed by John Williams)
Huna blentyn ar fy mynwes,

Ni chaiff dim amharu'th gyntun,

Sleep child upon my bosom,
It is cosy and warm;
Mother's arms are tight around you,
A mother's love is in my breast;
Nothing shall disturb your slumber,
Nobody will do you harm;
Sleep in peace, dear child,
Sleep quietly on your mother's breast.

Born for Greathness by Papa Roach
It doesn’t matter if the world has gone mad
If we just hold on, if we just hold on yeah
The sky is falling and the world has gone mad
And we sing our songs, and we just hold on yeah
So if you’re running, stop running
One life, one chance, start living
Sing it louder just to let the world know
No we’re not nameless, we’re not faceless
We were born for greatness

Aresoth

Princes of the Universe by Queen
Here we are, born to be kings
We're the princes of the universe
Here we belong, fighting to survive
In a world with the darkest powers
Heh
And here we are, we're the princes of the universe
Here we belong, fighting for survival
We've come to be the rulers of you all
I am immortal, I have inside me blood of kings, yeah, yeah
I have no rival, no man can be my equal
Take me to the future of you all

Hatching & Impression

Quote:
The Emperor did not hesitate.

With a mighty bellow, the egg practically exploded. The hissing, snarling, red-eyed bronze didn't care if the scatter of shell hit Candidates, or his golden sister for that matter. The anger that all the Candidates had felt at the touching repeated, but this time even more forcefully.

Screeching in rage, the bronze lunged forward right for The Devil.

Any Candidates in his way were bitten and tossed aside; he used his wings, his claws, his fangs to pull, shake, and whip the Candidates out of the way. Not because he didn't care, but because he had only one target in mind, and that was the Devil.

Both Rham and Farensil were violently pushed aside (if they hadn't already scrambled) as the large and stocky bronze leapt at his brown brother.

STAND DOWN AND SUBMIT! His voice could be heard by all.

The Devil shrieked in anger, hissing, snarling and rearing up so he might fight his brutish sibling. This wasn't fair! He wasn't doing anything wrong! Why did everyone hate him so? Why was he just the bad egg!!?!
The two males bit, clawed, and tussled; they rolled around, the brown dragon defiant and unafraid, and the bronze aggressive and unyielding. He would force the brown submit to his control, one way or another.

Quote:

The Emperor watched with red eyes as Elzebuth finally Impressed. He growled low in his throat, a warning, even as Goran accepted his brother's pleas. His wings remained flared, his little chest heaving from effort. He sported a few scratches and bite marks from Elzebuth, but didn't care. While his brother had not submitted, the brown at least had picked a chosen, and the rest of the clutch would be all the better for it.

Certain that Elzebuth no longer would continue to cause trouble, he let himself relax when his golden clutchmate approach. He leaned into the others touch for a moment, taking comfort in her presence, before he turned and stalked deliberately back to the group of remaining Candidates.

There was no need to deliberate. He did not need to move from person to person, and though his eyes continued to whirl red, he no longer attacked. He walked around those in the way, until he had finally found the one he had been looking for all along.

I don't know what you see in him, Mine. Why does he consume your thoughts, when I have been yours from the start? The bronze reared back, and rested his claws gingerly on the other. He reached out with his neck and pressed his face against the others, tenderly. Love, warmth, affection, and perhaps, the tiniest bit of worry flowed through the boy as Impression was made. Is your Aresoth not good enough? Have you no room in your heart for me? And this time the bronze did give a plaintive creel, his confidence fading in a moment of rare insecurity.

Caderyn had (from Aresoth's view) been smitten by the Devil so much more than himself, and the bronze's heart simply couldn't take anymore rejection. From the awful Touching, to Elzebuth's attempts to hold sway, the bronze just couldn't take Caderyn's eyes on anyone else any longer. He needed assurance, but he needed it from Caderyn and Caderyn alone.

Quote:
Seeing the brown Impress, glad that it had stopped fighting with the bronze, even if the bronze had started it. He was going to respond to Luiciand when suddenly the bronze was making it's way over to them. His eyes watched as the bronze move towards him and then, he felt the voice in his head. His eyes opened wide, he had not expected for this to happen and yet, it did.

There were no words for him to explain why he had liked the red egg, so he could offer no words of apology to him as he was suddenly face to face with the bronze. He had tenderly placed his claws on to him and Caderyn felt them tear through the robe, but not harming him either. "I'm sorry." That was all he could say. A quick shake of his head as he heard the worry and then he wrapped his arms around his neck, holding the dragonet close to him, keeping their heads pressed together. "No, you are perfect, there is no problem for you Aresoth and my heart has more then enough room for you." He didn't care if Luiciand, Cami and Demanthra could hear what he was saying to his dragon, he was just so overwhelmed with emotion and needing to help him feel better.
