Physical Description: Aelyn is average in height, with a pear-shaped figure. Her skin in pale and freckled, but she has a lot of color in her face. Her lips are a deep red, her pale cheeks color easily. Her eyes are a light blue and even her lashes and eyebrows are pale. Light red in color, her hair is fine and long, curling a little when it's wet or humid but otherwise lying mostly flat (although it can hold a wave if she braids it while it's wet then leaves it for a day). It grows fast, and so frequently goes between very long and very short, as she considers cutting it to be hassle (and so when she does, has it all off at once). Aelyn tends to wear light colors and loose, girly clothes.
Personality: Aelyn is a girl with a big heart. Consequently, she spends a great deal of time worrying about those close to her. Though brave herself, she doesn't like the idea of anyone she loves putting themselves in danger. When a friend engages in something risky, Aelyn will almost certainly insist that she accompany them, or else nag them incessantly not to. Inaction causes her to worry more. She can easily turn small dangers large the more she thinks about them, and frequently stirs herself up into a panic until she has to do something to vent, or drive herself crazy.
Compassionate and worrisome as she is, Aelyn is no push over. In fact, she's easily angered and quick to resort to violence (though usually just a smack across the back of the head). She's ruled by her emotions, and frequently acts (and speaks) before she thinks. Yet as quick as she is to anger, Aelyn is equally quick to forgive. Simply put, she doesn't let anything bother her for long. Everything is water under the bridge to her. Because she rarely conceals her emotions, she doesn't bottle things up, and just as she forgives others, Aelyn is also quick to forgive herself. When there's an unexpected fallout of her actions, she does her best to face up to it and then put it behind her. And without holding on to regret or resentment, she tends to be a lighter and happier person.
Aelyn has been known to lie for a number of reasons: fun, boredom, because she felt like it... She's called herself an 'impulsive liar'. If it'll make a story more interesting, she sees no harm in embellishing the truth a little. She's not fundamentally dishonest; if it's really important, obviously she'll tell the truth. But when it comes to stories about herself or about others, it's best not to believe more than 50% of what she says. When caught in a lie, she'll simply shrug and admit it. So what? It seemed like fun at the time. Going along with her lack of regard for the truth, is a lack of regard for rules as well. She is guided by an internal set of morals rather than external laws. If one disagrees with the other, the former will always win out. Her position is firmly: 'rules are made to be broken' and 'it's only wrong if you get caught'.
For all her roguishness, Aelyn is still a sweet girl. She would never do anything that would really cause another person harm. She cares deeply about those around her and is never not ready to take on a hardship if it will ease the burden of another, even someone she doesn't like. She believes strongly in always doing the right thing, no matter what the personal cost. She is easily moved and can't help but feel affected but others' emotions. While 'smart' might not be the first word you'd use to describe this leap-before-you-look hothead, Aelyn is a quick thinker with good instincts and an innovative mindset. With only the minimum of a structured education, Aelyn isn't ruled by convention and her upbringing taught her to be resourceful and clever, thinking her way around a problem and coming up with solutions that are out of the box. She's practically minded and her thoughts are firmly grounded in reality. She's often the one to point out the flaws in loftier-minded ideas.

History: Aelyn is the child of two drudges. Her mother was simple minded, but sweet. Her father was a rampant gambler. Aelyn was raised as a kind of ward of the Hold, spending more time away from her parents than with them. She was treated as a kind of errand girl, trading chores for a chance to take lessons with the other children. Despite her position, Aelyn grew up a bright and happy, day dreaming constantly about worlds outside their Hold thinking up fantasies of how she would someday get away. Though she never officially entered a craft, when she was of the right age, Aelyn was taken under the wing of baker at the Hold to taught the skill, at least enough to make herself useful and save her from some of the harder work she could have been roped into.
When Aelyn had just turned fourteen, a group of riders came to her Hold on a Search. Despite her humble upbringing, Aelyn had always secretly dreamed of being a dragonrider, so she pushed her grimy face to the front of the crowd just like any other Hold kid would. As if happened, her tenacity paid off, and she was taken to the Western Weyr as a Candidate. Aelyn adapted quickly to the comparatively free and open-minded life at the Weyr, and soon felt more at home there than she ever did in her Hold. Her only hope is that she can one day impress a dragon and remain at the Weyr forever.
Aelyn has Stood for the last two turns, including (once since the return of thread?). Despite this, she isn't sure what she thinks about all this, especially when it comes to her close friends and fellow candidates, whom she worries about endlessly. She'd rather they wouldn't, but if they're going to Stand as well, she knows she can't leave them to fight thread on their own, and is now especially worried about the potential of her friends impressing a dragon without her.
