He'd thought sticking to some of the more refined trees upper regions would dodge the more brittle wood on the lower ground. With the rapid acceleration of frost it seemed everything was now getting more brittle by the second. He couldn't rely on Ika-waratsu to maintain a height advatage. This was made all the more clear when the branch he was atop made an audible snap.
However, before he risked falling he formed a collection of handsigns venting forth from below a rush of air as the squid began to hover. He then chose to propel himself upward and ascended rapidly. Below while the girl with the bells recommended they keep their advance linear Toso remained above the canopy. "I admire your keen sense of command bloop! However, increasing the size of the group makes for a larger target blooop!"
The group began its advance with Toso who would be providing air support and provide the following directions. "Proceed southwest until we hit the coast blooop! We'll follow the coastline to the carriers! We wont know what to expect past the forest exit! Bloop. Remain on guard! Bloop! If there are any hostiles I will initiate if they attack bloop! You lot maintain following the coastline for evac whilst I function as a distraction bloop! Your safety is priority bloop!"

The genjutsu had no effect on the bugs, but since it didn't seem to have any negative effects on the others, Kagerou made no attempt to end the illusion. If calm was working, then she wasn't going to change that.
Squidman started to take charge, and Kagerou conceded to his higher rank, obeying with a nod and a business-like, "Understood, sir!". Professionally, she resisted the urge to argue against the comment of who's safety was first, her logical side knowing he was correct but the recent emotional scars objecting to the very idea of helplessly leaving someone behind. She just bit her tongue and focused on keeping an eye on the group's flanks and back as she and everyone else made their way through the brittle brush. If there was a hole in the fire-based defenses, then she could cover for it with her own katon techniques, but otherwise, she intended to preserve her chakra to focus on support as ordered. With the rapidly declining temperature, she couldn't be sure when someone was going to need aid before the bugs even thought to touch them. [2/6]

Now she felt silly. After having wasting energy on a passing sunshine melon ball Unki was now onto forming a second one. Maybe the first had some use in the end?. No matter. Impulsive decision making can hammer on the worst feelings sometimes. With the decline in temperature, even on the move, circumstances shouldn't make a second sun undesireable in close range. This one would be best held in her palm with another hand. [Sabakuhi; Rank B]
Unless she were to spy a increase in the ice ahead of them Unki would stave off on another scorch clone. An alternative technique was in mind to heating up locations ahead, however, she would need a fine spark to ignite her jutsu meaning a teammate's spark would be necessary since Unki lacks any real fiery methods.
How much further were they? Surely, the group must be making progress. At least they had some warmth now. In the meantime, Unki manages to pull out a gumball for herself and places the cold candy in her mouth.

The group's defenses were working wonders on keeping the bugs at bay. While a first wave of mosquitoes ventured out under the fake sun and soon regretted it, subsequent waves of the bugs steered clear of it, granting the group some respite from their advances. After a few minutes of traveling like this, the mosquitoes' buzzing would start to fade away, signaling the group was in the clear.

As the group continued to travel, a strange haze filled the air and the ground shook. Those not holding onto something would likely take a tumble after the stones beneath their feet shifted and lurched. Several of the trees in the area cracked loudly and fell, but no new insects spilled forth from their innards. When the shaking stopped, the haze vanished and it would suddenly seem that they were walking uphill.

Mosquitoes were gone. Finally. The situation would've been better if the lack of bugs meant they were completely safe. Pity. When the ground began to quake, Unki ultimately dropped her melon ball of steaming sunshine and latched on to the nearest something. Calling for the others to hold on. She held onto the ground as a new haze blocked sight of the immediate area. When the earth settled and fog cleared the first thing Unki would see, over a teammate, was the ground jutting upward. She would break formation, with intention to take lead for a minute, and inch to the peak of earth they stood on. Many trees gave way and their raised position permitted a better view of the distance ahead.
The island was gradually being swallowed by the tides and their immediate course seems to be apparent. Was the boat still there? A feeling like a sinking pit in her being intensified. "Aah, Toso? Do you have enough energy to be a humongous squid again? Like earlier, I mean." Unki would turn from the display ahead of them and look back at the group with a crooked frown. Talk about running with one's first idea.

Shinji kept to the plans, even as they changed, and held his position rightly. When things began to rumble he was quick to stabilize himself before things started to settle.

Yuna sheathed her weapons as the group stopped up ahead. Hearing they needed to build something, Yuna slowly raised her hand, "I mean...I can in theory use Mokuton, so I should be able to build something." She said knowing she had the potential to tap into that, but was too worried to really try.
Peering over the peak of the newly made hill with the rest of her group, Kagerou felt a sense of urgency when she saw the water slowly flooding the island. Bypassing her usual courtesy ad manners, she declared, "Well, for now, I'm just going to keep on moving to the resorts/docks." Judging from what she saw, there was still time to make it down to the now abandoned docks. In that case, she was definitely going to go down to the resort.
Of course, Kagerou knew of the old adage, "Never split the party." For various reasons, she was not keen on going alone, which was why she took the time to present her reasons in the hope of convincing the rest to follow suit, "There might still be others who haven't evacuated, and down there is the most likely place for them to go. As much as I can, I don't want to risk leaving anyone behind. Plus, no matter how we plan to leave the island, the docks are probably the most reliable spot on the island to set off from." Her point made as well as she could make it, Kagerou carefully started making her way down the hill, leaving with the words, "Anyways, feel free to follow," shouted over her shoulder. She took it slowly at first, giving the others time to catch up, but before long, she would run with all reasonable haste, hoping to avoid any dangers or further terrain shifts that could disorient her.
Kagerou's decision did pose a rather worrying question. Just what did she plan to do if no one at the resort had a way off the island? Even worse, arguably, if she was the only one at the resort? Well, first off, the latter case would just be embarrassing. More seriously, Kagerou didn't have a plan. At least, she didn't have anything formulated enough to call it a plan. She had several ideas that she could easily turn to as everything fell into place. In other words, she was prepared to wing it.

~Current Theme Music~:Phweeen Biography Everything proceeded normally and without a hitch, they reach the edge of the forest only until suddenly he'd notice the abrupt stop of the group. It was then at this point he'd look down to see the group shaken as if the ground were moving. He himself still airborne was immune to this but Then came the sound of rumbling following suit and then a division of stone obstructing progress slowing it down but only after a curious haze rolled in. The same fog bank like haze having been seen when he was roaming the oceans before his arrival. He himself would be undeterred the others however would indeed be facing a nit of jelly legs no doubt. The island seemed to be collapsing in a sense folding in on itself. Perhaps this was the 'returning to the original state' the announcer had proclaimed.
With his height advantage however Toso would spot something in the distance, something not ideal in the slightest. As Unki inquired about his shapeshifting prowess he had to inform them of the bad news. On the sea's horizon was a designated carrier already out for departure. The other in the distance appearing worse for the wear with something large enveloping it, or so it seemed. "Bloop indeed I can Unk-nee." Suddenly the man's tone took a shift to a slightly sullen side as a frown was produced from the otherwise stalwart face. "However, bloop I regret to inform everyone we've been left behind bloop." A slight knot of failure welled within the man if only he'd arrived sooner perhaps then they would have escaped on time. Though it made sense looking at the condition of the overturned ship that waiting any longer was out of the question.
It was at this point that the Green haired girl took the initiative and began her hurried pace towards the resort following the coastline. "W..wait bloop." He'd say a tentacle extended but she seemed already bound and determined to travel her set path. The dangers of the islands faulty nature a viable concern. Looking down to the others the airborne squidman stated the following descending to a point where he no longer needed to yell gravity in his words. "We've few options for escape bloop. I intend to see if the other carrier is salvageable bloop. If the ship is beyond repair...then earlier when I mentioned the enemy ship. Commandeering it may indeed have to become a necessity bloop. Steel yourselves if it comes to that bloop. The man's glasses produced a reflective surface there were no immediate hostiles. At least there could be something said in that. "From here on out I leave you to your own devices, bloop. Do not travel alone, one or more of you follow the girl headed for the resort bloop or rendezvous with me at the dock for salvage efforts bloop. Commandeering the ship on your own is strictly off limits and a suicide mission. bloop. Do not intentionally endanger yourselves. bloop. Remember the basics of chakra control in the event of flooding. bloop."
Toso would then make headway towards the ruined ship. Whilst Kagerou ran opposite as the two were getting farther apart in a form of split and deviating. Shiro, Unki, and Yuna from then on were left to decide for themselves who to follow or whether they themselves should deviate. Whatever Unki's plan was for Toso's squid transformation was it seemed he was already making his beeline with a sense of urgency. This wasn't an exam anymore, this was real life, this was a crisis and whether anyone liked it or not lives, including their own, were at stake. ~Exit to resort
