PLAYFUL
xxx»» Desi enjoys it when people play with her; she has a very active imagination, and a good deal many stuffed animals to create increasingly dramatic backstories for. She likes getting her family members to sit down with her and play, and will often be very put out if they don't have the time. She also has a very hard time sitting still if she's not properly distracted, loving to run around and make mayhem. Her playful nature also extends to how she speaks to her loved ones, much to their annoyance at times, as she loves nothing more than to tease them and get under their skin.

xxx»» Desi is quite comfortable with the people she knows at this moment in her life, thank you very much. She doesn't like meeting new people, and generally hides behind her brother when forced to. She doesn't like anyone until Zach decides they're okay, and even then can be skeptical, because her brother isn't nearly as discerning as she'd prefer. She doesn't bond with people quickly, unless she is told they are family. And, being family isn't a surefire way to get her to like someone, since she's skeptical regarding how she could possibly be family with everyone.

DEMANDING
xxx»» Desi likes getting her way. Being spoiled rotten in her early years left her with a certain expectation. Desi wants, Desi gets, and if someone doesn't oblige her, she'll find someone else who will. She's quick to play her parents and others against each other to get her way, and gets very annoyed when they catch onto her ploys. She doesn't ever think the thing she asks for are that big of a deal, and so doesn't see why she can't simply have them.

xxx»» She is very observant, and quick to pick up on things. Her heightened senses make it easy for her to eavesdrop on conversations, or notice small details that others would miss. She rarely has difficulty reading between the lines. She also gets a sense of satisfaction from calling people out when they're telling half-truths or trying to be evasive. Though, her favorite thing to do is to call attention to things others might wish no one had seen, such as an embarrassing trip over their own feet or the fact that their socks don't match.

AFFECTIONATE
xxx»» Children are impressionable, and the impression the Desi has gotten from the vast majority of her family is that when you love someone, you show it. While she thinks her parents are a tad dramatic at times (and is quick to roll her eyes at them), she can't help but think that they're doing something right. So, she never hesitates to share her love with the people she cares about. Unfortunately, this can make her distaste for others quite apparent.

OPINIONATED
xxx»» Desi, for one so young, is quite sure of herself, and of the world around her. She has a great many beliefs that she holds quite strongly about How Things Work, and she's quick to share them. She becomes frustrated when she's argued with, doubly so if someone comes at her with a sound argument. The only person who can correct her without her getting bent out of shape is her brother.

CHILDHOOD
xxx»» Desiree and her brother Zachary were born to Adalaide Blythe and Christopher Whitethorne on the 6th and 7th of March, 2027, six minutes apart. If her early years were odd, she didn't notice, given that she has no frame of reference for what should be 'normal', and she was always, for the most part, a happy child. However, one of her first fully formed memories is one of fear. She vividly recalls the night her mother was turned. Her mother had gone out, saying she'd only be gone for a few minutes. And yet, even with her limited understanding of time, Desi knew she'd been gone far longer than she should have been. Her fears only grew when her grandfather showed up at the house instead of her mum, and then she was sent away to play with her brother when her father woke up. She doesn't know what happened that night, but she knows it must have been bad, because her father decided to turn her mother.
xxx»» Shortly thereafter, they moved to Hogsmeade Village. Desi was thrilled about the new home, and all the new places to roam, but very upset that she'd been given her own room, away from her brother. Most every night, she would get caught sneaking out of her own room and into Zach's to sleep. By age six, she didn't do it every night like she had before, but whenever she had a nightmare, she could be found on her brother's floor, if not in his bed. Desi was equally annoyed at her mother's decision to become a professor at Hogwarts. During the time between her turning and her new job, Desi had gotten quite accustomed to her mother being home all the time, even if she was asleep during the day. She was quite happy with that arrangement, and didn't see why it should change. However, she was somewhat placated when her mother would allow her to come up to the school with her on some nights. As the years passed and it grew nearer and nearer to her own attendance at the school, she found herself both growing impatient waiting, and terrified of what was to come. She isn't sure if she's looking forward to school or not, though at the very least, she knows she'll have her brother.

SCHOOL YEARS

FIRST YEAR »» Desiree's first night in Hogwarts castle was pretty much the worst case scenario. First, she was sorted into Hufflepuff, which was fine because that was her mother's house, but Zach was sorted into Gryffindor, as were DJ and Kory, which left her all alone while they were all together. Then, one of her new housemates took it upon himself to belittle her for being upset, and she ended up losing her temper and yelling at him. Later, her mother took her into her office to talk through her feelings, which was effective but left Desi drained. When she woke up the following morning, she was exceptionally crabby, mood only improved by her brother sitting with her at the Hufflepuff table rather than at Gryffindor. Aside from the one incident, however, the year progressed smoothly enough, except her butting heads with 'Professor Uncle Jason', which she absolutely refused not to call him. She was also rather put out that she couldn't get out of Flying class, but ended up enjoying flying more than she thought she would anyway. The main attraction of the school year was the Halloween event, which she was thrilled to've been able to go to since it wasn't a yearly thing.

SECOND YEAR »» Desiree adjusted a little better to school her second year around. She mainly spent her time with her housemate Nani, who she couldn't quite decide if she loved, or hated. She steered clear of Su-Jin and focused what she considered an appropriate amount on her studies. She even allowed herself to be drug out to the Quidditch games to cheer for her brother and cousins.

THIRD YEAR »» The Summer before Desi's third year turned everything upside down. Everything was perfectly fine, right up until suddenly it was, in fact everything was very, very wrong. Her uncle Chalmes and Chance had been out together when they'd been the victims of a mugging. Desi's still not exactly sure on the details, not having really wanted any to begin with, so all she knows is that somehow the mugging resulted in her uncle's death. She took this quite hard, though not as hard as her father, obviously. The rest of the Summer seemed to drag on, and for the first time in her life Desi wanted to be far away from her dad. Normally he was her favorite person in the world, but as her favorite person in the world, seeing him so upset made her own heartache that much worse. She was relieved to return to school in the fall, and to have friends who were unaffected by her uncle's death to see her through the year. She kept up with her studies and tried to keep her spirits up, although it was difficult every time she thought about going home.

FOURTH YEAR »» Fourth year was better than third, although given the whole 'death in the family' thing that wasn't saying much. She did participate in the school-wide food fight, evidently started by some Slytherin boy the year below her, who had been sitting at the Hufflepuff table with a friend. Desi used the fight as an opportunity to get one up on some of her favorite teachers, and only regrets that her mother wasn't present to have a fruit tart thrown at her in the mayhem. She's still quite certain that Jason's going to kill her over it, but it was funny, so she didn't much care. The fight also resulted in her making the acquaintance of one Ariel Nolan, a second year in her house who egged her on as she debated which members of the Hogwarts staff to attack. This resulted in her electing to join his newly formed Language Club, more out of curiosity than anything else.
