User ImageName: P'enli
Age: 25
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Heterosexual
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingleader?
Previous Rank/Craft:
Physical Description: P'enli is tall and lithe, with understated muscles that mean his physical strength is often underestimated. He's often outside, resulting in a pale caramel kind of tan. He's vain enough that he dislikes tan lines and when he has free time will ask Tinsereth to take him somewhere private so he can tan. Speaking of his vanity, he takes very good care of his hair. It's long, shiny, silky, and black as between. When working, he keeps it up and out of the way but during his free time and for gathers, he likes to leave it loose. He prefers a combination of loose shirts, tight pants, and boots.
Personality:
    [+]Responsible
P'enli has always been the responsible sort. He hardly ever got in trouble, even as a child, and when he did he always accepted his punishment and didn't try to weasel out of it. As an adult, he takes his role as dragon rider seriously. He fully believes in actions requiring consequences - good or bad.
    [+]Hard-Working
He enjoys working, and wants to do his very best every time. He's not quite obsessive about it, but he is known to work himself and his dragon hard to get a drill right. He doesn't want lives lost because he and Tinsereth were too tired to practice.
    [+]Accessible
P'enli makes sure that he is available should anyone need him, especially his loved ones. He doesn't want anyone to be afraid to come to him if they need help. He's not great at making friends, but he finds being helpful easy.
    [-]Takes Things Literally
He really doesn't get subtleties. And flirting? Forget about it. He's a very direct man and doesn't understand the nuances inherent in the practice. In assignments and everything else, he follows directions to the letter and doesn't deviate. He has gotten somewhat better about this as he's grown older but he's still a very literal person.
    [-]Socially Awkward
He's more of an observer and wallflower than a social butterfly. He's awkward with new people and isn't sure what to say. He prefers letting other people take the lead in social situations, but he can take point if he must. He's gotten a little better at it as a dragon rider but it's not his favorite thing ever.
    [-]Prim
While he's been at Western for a very long time, he tends to have a more High Reaches view of what is proper, mostly socially. He doesn't like public displays of affection past holding hands or chaste pecks on the cheek. When it comes to dragons, he will admit to being a little traditional but he's more focused on merits and what the pair have done together rather than the color of the dragon's hide.

History: Born at Western, Phenli always wanted to be useful. He didn't want to just lean on his parents or the Weyr for what he needed. He wanted to be helpful to the Weyr and the people in it. He knew from a young age that he wanted to be an apprentice but it wasn't until he came across an older man whittling that he knew he wanted to be a carpenter. The art of taking a block of wood and turning it into something beautiful? He was astounded. So when he was eight Turns old, he was sent to Lemos hold to become an apprentice. The only downside to leaving for Lemos was leaving his best friend since they were small: Pemli. He promised her that he would keep in touch and kept his promise as well as he could. The first couple Turns, it was harder to find a willing messenger but then he was lucky enough to Impress a flit of his own.

For seven Turns he learned how to manipulate wood into what he wanted it to be. He assisted in larger builds as he got older and felt a kind of satisfaction when it was finished. He had helped make something that was useful to his community. He would be able to take these skills back to Western and help make useful things for his community there. He felt useful.

And then it happened. At fourteen Turns, Phenli was Searched. Being a dragonrider had never been something he had dreamed of. He knew they used to fight Thread but Thread hadn't been part of their lives now for a very long time. Phenli wanted to be of use to his people. What did dragonriders do now? A quick survey of the few riders he knew concluded that once a rider Impressed and went through weyrling training, they were able to live their lives as usual. He thought about the possibilities of having a dragon to help him in some of the more difficult builds and Phenli was sold. He left Lemos and went home to take a place on the Sands. Another bright spot in returning home was Pemli. He had missed his friend, and was happy to reconnect with her. He wasn't too surprised to find that she, too, had come home to be a candidate. It was nearly a full Turn later that Tinsereth broke his shell and bowled over other (unsuitable, according to the bronze) candidates to get to his. Once the initial euphoria faded, he realized Pemli had Impressed a gold and was proud of and happy for her.

From that point on P'enli and Tinsereth were inseparable, as expected of a soul bonded pair. They worked hard at learning everything they possibly could about each other and how to care for each other. Tinsereth learned his rider was not good at interpersonal skills and P'enli learned his dragon was occasionally bossy and pushy. But they helped each other where they could. Once their year of lessons was up, they returned to Lemos where P'enli soon walked the tables. P'enli and Pemli continued to keep in touch and a few Turns after they had Impressed, they realized their feelings for each other and became weyrmates (though at this point they were still following their separate paths to learn their chosen crafts).

Thread returned. The silver menace destroyed things that they had helped to build, and P'enli became angry. He mourned the losses and cursed the havoc Thread had wreaked upon the Woodcraft Hall and he wanted to do something about it. After helping clean up the damage, P'enli and Tinsereth went home and threw themselves into training. They trained hard and long and fought the enemy organism with a fury that can only come from deep hatred. The highlight of coming home, despite the threat of Threadfall, was finally being able to settle into a weyr with Pemli and her gold, Ningesth.

DRAGON
Name: Tinsereth
Age: 10
Color: Bronze
Size: 45'
Physical Description: Tinsereth is a medium bronze color with a darker shade starting under his jaw and extending down his throat and belly to the tip of his tail. On his sides are speckles of darker and lighter shades of bronze.
Personality: Tinsereth enjoys working and training. He wants to be the best he possibly can be, and he's working hard to prove that he and his rider might be young but they're ready and willing to take on responsibility. As much as he loves to work, he also loves to laze around especially in sun-warmed waters. He's patient when it comes to others, but if he's gotten flustered or upset then he's prone to snapping. He's a little obsessive. He wants his weyr clean and neat and if it isn't, you can bet he will complain about it. Not that P'enli lets his weyr get messy. He's also picky about making sure his equipment is exactly how he wants it when he's wearing it.
