Preface:
This ORP is intended to spark some life into the Fallen group as well as setting up for a major RP decision to be made by all Fallen players in the near future...

Goals of this RP:
  • This RP will serve as an update for the current Fallen residents to check in on their thoughts and the current status of the makeshift village.
  • Naya'il is curious to find out the other residents' thoughts and opinions on their current situation.
  • Get it set in the timeline when Thyone and Samkiel are/were expecting their little ones.
  • To encourage a little more play between characters in reference to their situation in preparation for a very important IC decision the Fallen are going to need to make in the near future that will determine the course of their fates...

Existing Fallen:

Notes:
  • This RP takes place while Avner and Lahasha are gone to go ask the angel, Lugh, for help regarding their failing attempts at growing their own food, taking place [here].

Blue eyes narrowed in thought while fingertips lightly rubbed a yellowed, drying leaf between them. Naya'il's piercing stare was fixed on the struggling blackberry sprout, which is all it was, in his shadow. It was one of the few that had even sprouted and now was dying away before it had even properly lived. He pinched and twisted the leaf between his fingers, watching coldly as the leaf tore and flaked away. Already almost dead.

This was what they had staked so many of their hopes on? This was what they were depending on? They'd wasted so much time...and nothing to show for it. Even if it had succeeded, what was a few berries for as many hungry mouths as they had? This would never do.

Naya'il stood abruptly and turned on his heel, the sash of his shoulder guard fluttering with the movement. This was unproductive. He was bored.

With a purposeful stride, he headed towards the ramshackle shacks they called homes. Pitiful. Was this the 'freedom' they enjoyed now? Freedom to starve to death or from the elements. Joy. As he neared the shacks, he looked for other signs of life. Where were the others with which he shared this oh so wonderful paradise? Usually someone would be out and about by this time of morning.

He'd enjoyed a brief period of community, and even happiness, since rejoining with the others. The familiarity of hard work was reassuring, and to be doing it for his own merits was rewarding. However, as always, his mind was on his beloved. Especially lately, as their efforts to grow food had been less than successful, he escaped into fantasy. What if his mate had been able to come with them? Surely he would have had a solution to their current problem. And what a life they could have made together, in their new freedom!

Purah sighed in the darkness of his shack, still curled in bed. He'd dreamt of him again last night. It was good to see his face, even in dreams, but Purah was beginning to forget what his voice sounded like, or how his hair felt, or an infinteness of tiny details. He missed him so much that he ached, and that ache prevented him from arising.

However, in time his stomach roused him from his bed. Purah went to the basket where he kept his own stores, those that were his separate from the community, and took out half a root. It was bitter, but kept them from starving for now.

He exited his home as he ate, squinting against the harsh daylight. He should have been up and about far earlier, and that guilt made him want to go right back to bed. However, he noticed Naya'il nearby, which meant he couldn't very well turn about and go back inside right after coming out. So instead he gave an awkward wave and went to busy himself with something--anything.

In one hut life stirred early but out of view. Meager supplies were gathered or arranged for the day before further patching work. A healers hut did little good against hungers but it was something. Her own efforts and the help of Avner she had a set up enough. It was a far cry better than what they had known. Hunger was a constant, as was fear. Here she could give comfort and ease pain, that was new.

Without noticing, the fallen hummed a few bars of an ancient song. The words were lost but the melody remained among the few happy memories. So precious few that still surprised her when she caught herself ensnared. The urge to flinch faded, Hachiko didn't even notice she wasn't flinching away until she touched what stood for a door in her hut with the last somber bar hanging in the air.

Pausing for only a moment, the door opened. Outside she saw Purah first, he was known to her but not someone that she particularly cared one way or the other. Then, oh then she spotted her red headed hero. Just looking at Naya'il brought a rush of memories, he always did. The feelings may not be strong but she remembered the ones he brought forth.

With a soft sigh, the purple female fluffed her hair and stepped forward, "Good Morning, is anyone hurt?" The crux of her interactions with anyone existed around potential injury. Best to check early. That bush by Naya'il looked poor indeed. A reminder that thriving here wasn't meant to be.

"Honestly... if you mention one word of this...." Thyone paused and sighed. She caught the look on her love's face and her own features softened. She was being too hard on him again. But she was uncertain.

And scared.

Inside their pitiful excuse of a hut, Thyo's hand rubbed circles around her abdomen. It didn't look any different.... but it felt different. Still, she wasn't entirely certain and she didn't want anyone else but Samkiel to know how she was feeling right now. It was the last thing she needed was to put even more stress on the group. If it turned out she was right....

Groaning, Thyo clenched her fist and pounded it into the base of the unfinished log-chair she had been sitting on. Outside she could pick up the sounds of other voices meaning that the others were beginning to stir. Besides Naya'il of course. Glancing back at Sam she put on her game face, or as much of one as she could muster and tossed her head towards the door in gesture that her and Sam should probably join the others.

With half a smile for her beloved, Thyo stood and made her way to the door, opening the rickety thing as quietly as she could. Though that wasn't very quiet at all as it still gave a few squeaks of rebellion. Leaning lightly against the door frame, Thyo crossed her arms across her chest and glanced at who all was awake.

Not as many as she had thought.

Her gaze softening a bit, Thyo smiled warmly at her friend, a hand going up to wave at Hachiko. She remembered when they had first arrived on this strange land, the ritual hadn't treated the other fem well but the girl had come a long way since then and Thyo had to give her friend props for that.

Her gaze fell next on Purah who had already busied himself with a task. Thyo half snorted. Sam and she probably should have been doing the same by now but she had important matters to discus with her love. Though now that that was over..... Thyo's gaze traveled to Naya'il next. His disgust and disappointment on the measly heap of strands they had been trying to call a harvest was clear as day over his features. She had no words to give him other than a lingering gaze as foreboding thoughts once again crossed her mind from the talk she had had earlier with Samkiel.

What ever would we do....

Samkiel held up his hands in mock surrender. "My lips are sealed," he promised her. There was a small part of him, soft and muffled as though under layers of wool, that felt pride and excitement at what could be coming in their future.

Alongside those emotions was fear and uncertainty. What kind of life would they be bringing children into, if that was in fact the new feeling his beloved was having? Perhaps, if they were lucky, it would just be gas. Not that he would ever allow such a thought to escape his lips. He was unemotional, not stupid. And if he were honest with himself, he wanted children. Had always wanted them with his Thyone. But this world they lived in now... Was it really any better than before?

Yes, they were free here, but still they starved. Still they were cold when the wind blew through the holes in their rudimentary shelters. They needed to build themselves a better life. Not just for any offspring that may or may not be coming but for themselves. They needed to prove to themselves that life would be better here. That they could truly live here. That leaving hadn't been a mistake.

Samkiel frowned when Thyone punched the chair. He knew she was frustrated, but surely such actions weren't good for a female in her condition? Well, possible condition. Wanting to soothe, he moved closer to her and lay a hand on her back, just below the battered remains of her wings. "Let's go," he murmured in response to her nod toward the door.

Stepping outside with her, he looked around the area and sighed quietly. Clearly the blackberry bushes were a bust, he thought as he watched Naya'il walk away from the dying sapling. What had they done wrong? What could they do better? Purah looked busy...sort of. The kind of busy that meant the male likely wouldn't welcome social interaction just yet. He shook his head at Hachiko's question, though he wondered what the other Fallen knew about birth. He grumbled quietly and rubbed his face with both hands. Would all his thoughts now revolve around something that was as yet unconfirmed?

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Mavea was not a very social pae, speaking only when necessary. Perhaps that is what seemed to keep her from truly integrating herself as part of the community. She held the others at an arms distance.

Not that she truly minded, there was no guarantee this little group was going to stay together, or that no one was going to die. The less you cared the less it hurt and the less likely you where to get back stabbed by someone.

Besides they had all known each other from before, she was only there due to luck of the draw not because she was friends with anyone. It was easy to say that she did not belong with the other fallen, but her chances of survival where better by sticking with the group which is why she had gone with them in the first place.

It was probably around the time that they started setting up tasks for the gathering groups so she pushed herself up and onto her feet and headed out to see what too look for today, other than food obviously.

Speaking of food, as she exited her hut she noticed Naya'il by the dying bush. The plants they had tried to raise as a source of food seemed to have been a wast of time. Shame though it would have been helpful to have some food close at hand.
