The Ice and Lava biomes for the match between Sadayo Soga and Masato Umechika. Scattered crystals of ice dust are scattered throughout the icy area, while the lava field contains randomly (not controlled by you two) geysers of lava. The icy area is also very slippery (who woulda thunk) which factors into the battle. While the lava fields are extremely hot in temperature even for the sandy shinobi~

Masato who had been standing outside the arena talking to Zhi heard his name announced from inside the area. With a poof of smoke he vanished from Zhi, reappearing in the center of the arena. His eyes widened as he looked around, seeing the massive crowds that came from the village to see the fight. His grin was uncontrollable at this point as music blasted from the speakers over head. " Observing the arena before him, he started stretching out his arms, preparing his body for what came next, working the slight soreness left over from yesterday in the training grounds. Impatiently he would begin to pace the arena, trying to catch the rythm that the lava plumes shot into the sky however it seemed randomized to him. Still, he paced, awaiting his opponent.
The extremes. No fun at all. There was no promise that zori sandals were slip resistant over ice of all things and definitely not heat proof. The soles of the sandals would melt before too long after any contact to any lava. If any. The building's ceiling was open. Good. The terrain wouldn't be too much trouble, right?
From the Academy, Sadayo miraculously ended up here at this match which she only vaguely remembering agreeing to, but hell, she may even make a something out of this experience. The yellow and red scrolls were opened to free Hohoemi and Nirami with strings attached before stepping on the arena, grumbling about the excessive noise probably to taunt her: "who granted a freaking music number?" (Like she didn't already know) She would then yell, looking upward; "OKAY! I'M HERE. YOU CAN TURN IT DOWN PLEASE! and stands patiently for a moment. Now, whoever was in charge of music must have misunderstood her and started up the last some odd seconds of a follow-up track which she explicitly stated she wasn't going to do somewhere along the way after hearing the image the lyrics would try to give her. She looked a tad surprised and held the look even onto when she looked over at her opponent.
Then sighed, rolled her eyes, then maneuvered her puppets to walk ahead of her onto the platform. Brr.

Masato's opponent appeared, finally. His patience would soon be rewarded. " Aye, you!" He exclaimed, recognizing her from the academy. " You're the girl from the classroom!" He said in a surprised manner, almost youthfully ignorant of the tournament. His excitement shifted to determination as she shouted at the announcer to change the music. When her gaze shifted to Masato he would grin wildly. " I've been waiting on this!" He said, referring to his eagerness to fight....even though it had been practically one day since his last battle. Black smoke cosmetically rolled off his person as he could feel the level of excitement bringing him to a boil.
Masato took note that beside the woman was a towering armored figure that resembled a Samurai. He frowned. Why did she have backup? Two on one? It wasn't fair,but Masato loved to fight...maybe this was supposed to be a test? He didn't really care either way. The club and O'dachi on its back and side boasted enough that he knew it was a power house. He smirked, popping his neck as he rotated it to the left and right. " Neat."
A blaring microphone deafened him for a split second as a somewhat familiar voice called out over the loud speaker. It was his new mentor, Nariomi. His teacher was hosting this? He had no idea. With this in mind the horn would blow, signaling the fight to begin. Before the horn even concluded its tone, Masato had taken off, dashing toward the woman who stood just on the edge of the safe zone, having a slight physical advantage, he would close the distance quickly, forming a hand sign as he did, creating a plume of smoke that veiled the three Masato that now charged ahead as one remained back with a smug grin on his face roughly ten feet away. Each of the Masato lunged for Sadayo's arm's in hope to restrain her to end this quickly, weaving between her two puppets.
Aside from the onslaught from the mysterious box some time ago this event marks Sadayo’s first fight. The difference between the two skirmishes were: having puppets and fighting an opponent made of flesh. A thinking, living, breathing opponent with an actual brain of its own. An opponent who seemed to be smoking. On fire? Burning passion in the literal sense? Did he step in lava? On fire? No. No! The smoke intensified and quickly became an apparent threat. Where is he?! A thought boomed in her head as she made note of Nirami’s location in front of her. Her heart began to pound. Sadayo would choose to quickly crouch and roll to reach Nirami’s legs. He was supposed to be near her and all times. Defense is his design. She would cling onto one of the samurai’s legs. The girl anticipated some sort of direct attempt; as the tactic was something she knows to be the objective to anyone fighting a puppeteer: Get through the dolls to reach their master. Above her, Nirami’s shoulders would arch forward slightly and both he and Hohoemi would clatter as Sadayo flexes her fingers to raise their arms outward. A heavy pair of metal barrels with that sting to the touch and two heavy arms of wood and iron. She would then twitch one hand to make send the brightly colored, laughing, puppet into spin off to the girl’s left. The puppet had still a little ways to go before being able to share likeness of speedy spin-top motion* {D Rank Force Applied ; off} while Nirami’s iron armor layers were fanned out, but only on the arms, * {C Rank Shield Level; Arms only; supp} then the girl would adjust the samurai to shift and bend further slightly. It’s body turning slightly, one arm to angle in front and the other to angle above the puppeteer until she moved. Below, Sadayo then conjures her own clone to serve as a means of replacement until things come into better light. She knew where her puppets were as long as threads were bound to their limbs.

Sadao was well prepared for a physical defense. Her puppets would shield her from the front and her left, this would be Masato's opening. As the three versions of Masato charged towards the female, one of them slyly had created a smoke bomb technique, tossing the small black ball in the confusion directly before Sadao's feet. This thick black smoke clouded a 15 foot area around her, preventing sensory techniques and any ocular dojutsu from seeing chakra even. The range of the cloud would mask all four Masato across the area. As the real Masato moved while cloaked inside the smoke cloud the puppeteer would feel the full powered strike of Masato as he unleashed the power of his Cherry Blossom Collision. A strong punch would be felt against the exposed right rib cage of the female as Masato unleashed a surge of chakra as his knuckles impacted the target, maximizing the damage taken and if unguarded breaking the ribs impacted.
The gray smoke was enough as it was heavy, blinding, and little room to breath. What suddenly made the over all smoke worse was the sudden change in color in front of her. The change wasn’t a good sign. Never a good sign. Already she embraced her opponent was following the tactic of hiding to get to her. Blinding her to limit her own and the movement of her puppets. Black smoke isn’t a good sign. A flash of panic issues a tactical retreat {Kawarami; Rank E ; 1/4}. Hohoemi serves as her replacement and forces the girl to reappear on the outskirts of the ordinary smoke cloud where the spread of debris was thinning. In the face of not knowing if anything would be coming and to minimize damage to her smiling treasure, Sadayo would have chosen to strike up the chakra shield on through hohoemi’s right arm. Her right side was a spot she recalled to be a little less than protected. The back of Nirami’s right leg, maybe, could have protected her but that would’ve required a better timing and less panic.
So the hit made by Masato would have likely met the shield and be face-to-face with the laughing puppet looking back at him. It’s spin-top game was over and the happy-faced emblem in his abdomen light up with an orange color. Meanwhile, Sadayo is busy fleeing the cloud, backwards, in a spring. Fleeting wisps of smoke leave her person and she is finally free of smokey hell cloud. She inhales to catch her breath and calm her nerves. He will be coming out of that cloud anytime from now. Sadayo would take wind of her surroundings and which environment she backed into. Ice. She nearing its slippery boundary line too.
Returning the blow, Sadayo would take a chance to move Nirami’s arm to the side some, hovering over the former right-blind spot and forces his heavy arm downward {Formless D-rank swing). Masato may have just revealed himself. If only Sadayo could see. The samurai’s opposite arm turns upward, the top of its hand facing out, awaiting an attack with its iron armor fanned out. The puppeteer would reach Nirami’s arm to near limit, in attempts to make the best of the potential hit, before beginning to withdraw and pulll him out of the smoke first. Shortly, the samurai would disappear in some obscured direction. Hohoemi and the Sadayo clone remain. The clone began to act like she had the strings. Both she and the solid double, by now, had a pair of orange-colored chakra horns and fangs hovering couple inches from their face. Back outside the smoke cloud, the real Sadayo was working up another ninjutsu. From the same hand which guided Hohoemi, a set of electric strings to test the area were set out: waiting on the inside while the true Sadayo waited on the outside.

's**t, s**t, s**t!' he thought as felt the change in density before him. He knew his target had to have moved. Dodged? Couldn't have done that. She wasn't built to dodge so quickly. It had to have been a substitution. ' Its not safe in here from me. She must've gone outside!' He thought to himself as he felt his hand make a hard impact to the shield that was Hoenheim's chakra shield. Through the mist the faint orange light glowed.
Although the shield could protect from the damage dealt to it, it was highly unlikely that it would be able to stand its ground un-phased by the force of the fully committed blow. At the very least it would be sent off balance, buying Masato just a split moments time. His guess had been correct. The woman was no longer in place where he had aimed at her, obviously. Masato wasn't one for a game of cat and mouse though. His blood boiled further. He needed to get out of the smoke cloud and see what exactly happened himself. Using the veil of his own technique previously stated. The smoke would linger in the fifteen foot area as Masato would use smoke leap, a variation of body flicker to exit the area without notice, or so he would have hoped. This would allow the swinging arm of the samurai to go without contact and whatever else may be plotted within as Masato remained unaware of the clone's position inside the smoke cloud.
Emerging, he found to the back left of Sadao with roughly five feet between them. " THERE YOU ARE!" He exclaimed, realizing that the big puppet and the orange lighted one were still inside the cloud, that or at least on the other side of its fifteen foot radius. Instantly, the orange horns were noted. Masato became excited, not knowing if it was simply her chakra or a form he would be able to match his against. The air seemed to change around him as tiny grains of debris began to push away from the area and float just above the center ring. His foot pushed off heavily from its spot, closing the distance between the two even more as the distortion in the air seemed to follow him, Just before his fist[ C Ranked Formless Rank ] would come up for contact once again, this time he aimed for her solar plexus. He hoped to deliver such a blow he could incapacitate her and end it sooner along with sending her flying back into the molten rock arena.

Masato took the bait. She was the bait which was a gutsy choice this early on. Setting herself out on her own while Nirami was seemingly off on its own devices could result in an ugly ending. No puppeteer could calmly call themselves a puppeteer without some sort of plan to protect themselves. Sadayo could only move backwards- on ice- and try to brace or prevent potential impact. A hand seal, visible to her opponent, would instantaneously call Nirami to intervene as Masato’s fist came dangerously nearer. Where was Nirami? The samurai was pulled from the next environment. Twenty feet from the puppeteer and adjacent to the cloud’s spread.The force behind his incoming punch looked dangerous. With the increase of his speed something else must have certainly escalated about him. Could Nirami take it? More importantly, could she take it? Sadayo would pull him into serving as a brief wall before jumping, clinging onto his back, and holding desperately with one hand. The other hand, the one guiding Nirami, would twitch and ball into a fist. This hand trick would’ve enabled a swift dodge {B-rank Formless} to pull herself and the samurai puppet out of the fray.
Her plan failed. There was no way she could’ve foreseen the increased power streak and had very little to counter. Nirami’s body was directed to move, rapidly, and created a twenty feet distance between them. Sadayo had escaped into the warm zone. Her breathing became heavy. With it, formed a lump in her throat and a shiver spiked in her arms. She’s only been warned of attacks like that. An attack with the backing to damage the body extensively and packed with the power to smash even able-bodied defense puppets like Nirami. Still, her glowering samurai puppet was far from being invincible. In the end, there was no way Masato’s strike would have ended with either a puppet intact or her own body intact. His aim was narrowed for her midsection nearing dangerously close to the location of her liver. Sadayo would pull Hohoemi toward her and Nirami’s position in anticipation of a quick follow-up. But that wasn’t going to happen. There was not going to be another attack coming for Sadayo or her puppets. Her sights were locked on Masato as she shouts a demand: ”STOP!” Sadayo raises her head. She wouldn’t take her eyes off Masato as she hurried to steady her breath. Her cry would break again.

Having steeled himself to fighting the woman who's chakra mimicked a Han'ya mask atop her face, his fist delivered a fully weighted deliverance...only to strike nothing. The clever girl had dodged his fist. As his fist would stop in place where Sadao's sternum had been previously, the wind seemed to follow the flow of his fist, blowing small particles of the area up into the air. The sheer force of his attack that would have delivered a severe blow to either target caused the mild surge of wind to go rushing forth. Masato turned, seeing the girl a small distance away still he pivoted, ready to execute his next attack.
As he rushed forward her body language changed. She had gone from the intensity of a battling genin trying to prove herself to that of fear. Masato stopped in his charge roughly half way to her. Her cry out to stop, that she had forfeit didn't seem to ring true to him at first. He lowed his fist slightly, assessing the situation, trying to sniff out a trap being baited. Finally after several moments he had made up his mind. Her fear seemed genuine. He would keep his eyes on Sadayo. " Proctor!" He shouted, waiting to drop his guard until the match had been officially ended. In the distance still, his clones previously created would disperse. The distortion from his gates activation flickered, lingering until the last moments.
The proctor gave the nod, signaling his win. The crowd roared in his favor as he shrugged off their praise in an attempt to look cool. In a puff of smoke he would vanish just as quickly as he appeared and whisked away to the training area.
The situation has boiled down. The proctor gave their signal of completion. Nariomi’s voice broke through above and marked the official end to the mask. Sadayo’s claim of withdrawal was official. It’s over. There wasn’t anything the girl could say, do, and very little to even stir up in her thoughts. At most, she could only muster the reassuring phrase about the battle being over and that her tools are safe. She’s safe. Her expression was stale but in shock of the reality of what nearly happened. The shock of what could have unfolded hasn’t completely set in yet.
Sadayo would dismiss her puppets in singular motion as the noise of the audience spikes into a roar. Get a close enough look at her hands and one would see a slight tremor as the jutsu was performed.
