Adoptable Character Creation!

This forum is a place where player and staff can write up character sheets for other others in the shop to adopt! Currently, we require individuals who wish to RP in the shop to write up characters for approval in the Approval Thread. While this works out well in many cases, it can be limiting -- some people might struggle filling out forms, might not be confident in their writing ability, might be limited on time, or might just be burnt out writing new profiles

Instead, the shop has decided to allow for players and staff to write character profiles for approval, and ultimately, adoption.

All forms filled out in this thread, once approved, will be placed in the Adoptables Thread found here.

Why a Sub-Forum? We decided to have a subforum so all our adoptable characters can be in one place. Furthermore, this will allow staff to work with the writers of the adoptable characters in case they need tweaking for pre-approval. Once approved, we'll slap a [ADOPTABLE] heading on their name and link them to the Adoptable thread.

How do we claim an adoptable? Follow the rules in the Adoptable thread! If you want a character, all you have to do is claim them there. It's first-come, first-serve, so those who make the first claim will get them! That's the only way to make it fair.

Do adoptables have cool-downs? We've currently done away with adoption cooldowns, but we have the right to deny you adopting if you're picking up too many, or not giving others a chance to adopt. If it becomes a problem we'll resume the 2 month cool down so please, try to self-moderate and share the love.

Do I need dragon art to write dragonriders? Nope! Write whatever sort of dragonrider you like. Staff will either create art to go along with the adoptable profile later, or players who obtain dragon art can claim those without. Please do not write white or goldriders. We plan on giving them away

Can I write any sort of character? Yes and no. There are some ranks and positions that are not open to being created. These include:
Weyrleaders
Weyrwomen
Wingleaders
Wingleader Seconds
Goldriders
Whiteriders
Candidatemasters
Weyrlingmasters
Headwoman / Headman
Lord Holders of Major Holds
Lady Holders of Major Holds
Major Lord Holder Children / Relatives
Stewards for Major Holds
The Masters of Crafthalls
etc.

Staff will notify you if the adoptable you make isn't allowed, and you'll either have to scrap the idea or change the to a different rank.

Can I write gold and white rider profiles? At present we are not allowing individuals to write gold or white riders of any rank. Why? Because we plan to give these out in contests, events, quests, Hatchings, or will make adoptable characters ourselves. If we decide to loosen this restriction we'll let you know!

Rules and Restrictions

These adoptables will be pre-approved, which means as soon as someone adopts them, they can jump right in on the fun. To get a character pre-approved, it does mean these profiles have to be QC'd before we put them up in the adoptables thread, so we'd like you to keep in mind the Profile rules when you write!

Ultimtely, just follow most of the rules found in the Character Approval Info Thread.

General Rules

• Please don't raise a fuss or fight us if staff requests you tweak a character. Listen to your RP Managers. If they call you out on something, listen to them and fix it. This is your only warning.
  
• Follow the Gaia ToS.
  
• Keep characters and their histories/stories within the PG-13 limit!
  
• Do not godmode other people's characters or actions.
  
• Do not metagame and assume your character or your actions are going to change the world.
  
• Dragons are not evil. While we do let them have a bit more personality and flavor than in the books, do not make them wicked. They are highly empathetic, after all.
  
• One character per form.
  
• Do not make cosplays -- all characters here must be originals.
  
• Do not use copyrighted or franchised material to represent your characters. We're not a shop that uses play-bys, so please keep your character unique.
  
• If you or your character becomes inactive, staff reserves the right to NPC them and ship them to an NPC Weyr. Should you return, they can resume their activity.
  
• Your characters must be human/Pernese. Take your magical, winged, space-aliens to a different shop.
  
• Your characters must look human in appearance. Skin tone, hair color, and eye color should all match what's found on earth humans. We will allow silver, violet, and golden eye colors but those are the only exception.
  
• Your character names should be Pernese! Do not use common earth names! While you could use names that aren't well known, we'd prefer you just make something unique up. We will ask you to change their name if we feel it's not Pernese enough.
  

Application Tips & Tricks:

• Your character cannot be related to or have connections with any ranking persona! This includes Weyrleaders/Weyrwomen/Craft Masters/Major Lord Holders etc. This includes NPC Weyrs, Holds, and Halls. We may give these characters out as PCs, and if we do, it is then up to the new writer to allow folks to make friends, children, family, lovers, exes, etc.
  
• Your character cannot hold a ranking position unless you've won them in a contest.
  
• Make your character an individual, but don't make special snowflakes. Your character shouldn't be perfect and should have flaws.
  
• If you're making a Candidate, please remember that dragons take a lot of work. Your character won't be Searched if your character wouldn't be able to bond with it or handle the responsibilities of dragonriding. This is Pern, not Earth, and on this planet not everybody winds up a winner or with a consolation prize. Keep in mind that just because you make them a Candidate doesn't mean they're going to Impress.
  
• Keep to Pernese naming conventions. This means if it's a common earth name, or a known franchise name, it's probably not going to pass. The Pernese don't have middle- or surnames. Additionally, only dragons name can end in -th and wher names end in -sk.
  
• Please post WIP if your character isn't finished and ready for critique. Otherwise it might get critiqued too early.
  
• Please post "Ready" or something in your heading when you want MH or FF to look over your adoptable!
