- ■ Rory didn't even go to this class half the time; it was far too convenient to wander the castle when he had the plausible deniability of saying he'd gotten lost on his way to class. Plus, it wasn't odd that he wasn't in bed during, considering he was supposed to be in class, so no reason for anyone but the professor to notice he was missing. His general skill at knowledge retention would've helped him more if he'd heard the information to begin with. As it was, he didn't care enough to even do the reading half the time, and failed the exam miserably.

- ■ Rory got the necessity of this class, but found it incredibly dull. As a result, he was usually present in body, but not so much in mind. He did well enough in the class, but when it came to the exam, he was more interested in breezing through it and being done with the whole thing than actually passing it. As a result, his grade suffered, and he managed to pass it just shy of an EE.
xxxDEFENSE AGAINST THE DARK ARTS ~ EExxx
- ■ Having grown up in an abusive household, Rory was fully invested in learning self defense, especially with magic. Unlike most of his other classes, he dedicated himself firmly to doing well in this class. That said, he's not very skilled with wandwork, and is a bit too impatient to fix the problems causing his inadequacy. He did well enough on the written, but the practical is where he really shined; after the previous year's encounter with his aunt, he was easily able to overcome his fear of her to defeat the boggart.
xxxHERBOLOGY ~ Pxxx
- ■ Rory didn't like this class, and could never decide if he liked or despised the professor. Given that the man was his head of house, he opted for the latter, and his grades in the lesson, already not so great, plummeted as a result. When time came for the exam, he didn't even bother to try. It's honestly a shock he didn't get a T, or even a D.
xxxHISTORY OF MAGIC ~ Dxxx
- ■ Much like Astronomy, Rory didn't bother to attend this class with any real regularity. He didn't care about history in the slightest, and as nice as the professor was, he was also an insufferable bore. Nothing and no one, no matter how much enthusiasm they possessed, could make history interesting, and Rory spent the lessons he was present for doodling in his notebook rather than paying attention. It was only through sheer luck and the fact that he has something of a sticky memory for anything he hears that he didn't completely bomb the exam.
xxxPOTIONS ~ EExxx
- ■ Rory possessed quite an aptitude for this lesson, and would've been quite skilled if he'd applied himself a little more. As it was, he wasn't really interested in brewing potions already in existence, but more interested in the theory of how the ingredients worked and what could be done with them. Rather than studying for what would be on the exam, he ended up falling down a rabbit hole of sorts, trying to find ways to use potions to make special paints for his art. Lucky for him, his talent for the art of potionmaking and excellent recall helped him do quite well on the exam, almost managing an O, but not quite.
xxxTRANSFIGURATION ~ Oxxx
- ■ It was sheer stubbornness alone that Rory did well in this class. When he was told it was difficult, what he heard was that it was beyond him, and he was bound and determined to prove that wrong. His father had mocked him over this skill specifically, saying if it was really that hard, Rory might as well give up before he even got started. Seeing the math inside the textbook before his son started school convinced him that the boy would never do anything but fail at it. Rory studied hard, and managed an almost perfect score on the exam through pure spite.

- ■ The only class that Rory really cared about, he barely even had to study for this exam. Still, he did, pouring himself into his text so that his written exam wouldn't drag down his score too badly. The practical was a breeze, and he was quite proud of himself for doing so well on the exam.
xxxCARE OF MAGICAL CREATURES ~ EExxx
- ■ Rory took this class more out of interest in animal anatomy than anything else. Being an artist, and discovering he was a wizard, he immediately began drawing all the magical creatures he read about, incorporating them into his art. He was actually rather good at the lesson as well, being patient with the creatures because 'they were pure, unlike people, who are shite'. That said, he tended to get distracted with his own personal study of their forms and not focus on the actual lessons, so his grade suffered slightly.
xxxMUSIC ~ Axxx
- ■ Music wasn't something Rory cared about, aside from listening to it to drown out the noise of his home life. He only took the class because it seemed easy, and he needed three electives total. He was wrong about it being easy, but it was easy enough that he passed the exam without much effort.
