xxxxx The village of Kumogakure is a strong shinobi village within the land of Lightning. A bastion of military strength it has existed since the beginning of the current military system. With a unique culture and history it known for its possession of five ancient relics. These relics serve as source of pride for both the village and the people of the nation at large. So to, do the shinobi of the village.
Kumogakure has existed under the direction of three Raikage in the course of its history. The initial era of our village was lead by the shodai Raikage, Kinpaku. The early days of this era were rather peaceful. The historical scrolls of kumogakure denote altercations with a shaman and of an attack by the Nibi which lead to the destruction of some parts of the village.It was within this era that the threat known as the UHV (United Hidden Villages) made itself known. With the help of a vile woman using her abilities to force the residents of the village into apathetic state the soldiers of the UHV laid siege to our village. Between horrific shelling from motor fire and then troops slaughtering people in the streets there was much bloodshed. However the heroic work of those in the shinobi forces saved a great deal of lives by working quickly to evacuate many to safety. Eventually our forces broke through and joined up with those from Kirigakure to end the siege after taking out the artillery stationed upon the Crossroads. It was from this joint military action that an unshakable bond was formed between villages. However it was not as if the UHV threat was over. Kinpaku lead the village through the strife of the second battle for Kumogakure as well. Though she may have retired, she serves as an example for many of the village's kunoichi to aspire to.
The nidaime Raikage Kaileer's reign marked the second era of our village's history. It was during this second era that the vile woman from the first battle for Kumogakure returned. Nekita attacked the village and stole the five ancient relics. While some of the relics were recovered during the initial pursuit of the thief, the rest were not recovered until some time later. It was also during this time that tensions flared between Kumogakure and many of the hidden villages belonging to more minor nations. An altercation arose after it appeared that a shinobi of Kumogakure had purchased out the entire stock of Takumi Village. As a neutral supplier Takumi was vital to those smaller nations and the act was seen as form economic bullying. The minor nations banded together and sought to block Kumogakure from accessing the village's supplies. This event is known as the Takumi Rebellion. While the UHV was pulled back from all out assaults during Kaileer's tenure a terrible blizzard caused great devastation. A few thousand lives were lost and many experienced the heartbreak of losing loved ones and family members.
In the current era the sandaime Raikage Shiro Chosokabe leads the village. A recent uptick in UHV operations has set events in motion which have caused Kumogakure to prepare for war. Village infrastructure is being enhanced, the processes of acquiring natural resources for construction and the weapons of war has begun, and the training of the village shinobi has intensified.
