She is the kind of pae that isn't afraid to speak her mind, nor does she hesitate to do so, no matter the situation or potential consequence. On one hand, this makes her the sort of pae you can trust to always tell the truth, whether or not that truth is what you would actually like to hear is a different matter. She has a solid moral compass and expects the same of others she associates with, which leaves her with a certain naiveté and a propensity to trust the information she has been given at face value. The potential for her to be manipulated in this manner is quite high, and she is likely to continue to have the wool pulled over her eyes until it is directly pointed out to her from another trustworthy source. To strangers, she can be quite polite - to closer friends and family, her brattiness tends to take the forefront. The fouler her mouth around you and the harsher her critiques of you become, the more intimate a bond she feels with you.
Conversely, she is very vocal when she senses she has been taken advantage of or when faced with ill-deserved actions. "Due to the established villages and towns, and the abundance of resources available in them, some harpies have become more docile. Harpies that reside in villages will still protect their territory from outside threats and other aggressive non-resident harpies. They still have wild instincts, some have just become domesticated and less aggressive."

She's a generally good-spirited sort of harpy with an attitude that comes off as more arrogant or competitive than outright aggressive. Undeniably confident, she knows what she's good at and what she wants, and usually she has the tenacity to make sure it happens. With that, she also tends to have an idea at what she's not good at and, naturally, prefers to avoid such things. This isn't limited to activities she knows she's unskilled at, but rather she is hesitant to try anything outside of her comfort zone, be it a mix-up of her daily routine, an encounter with a stranger, or a general challenge. While she can be enticed to do something outside of her comfort zone, usually via a reward or significant praise of some sorts, it isn't something she's likely to do out of her own motivation.
Conversely, when she is unable to get her way, she has a temper that is quick to flare and likely to take a while to simmer down. She is unlikely to forget if someone has wronged her and will hold a grudge past what many would find reasonable.It is possible, if exceedingly difficult, to earn her forgiveness, but she'll likely still bring up the issue of another argument ensues. She can have a bit of a mean streak to those she's decided she dislikes, and will often act in petty or childish ways until she either becomes satisfied or otherwise is forced into giving in herself. She is possessive of items and people she considers to be 'hers,' and any attempts in forcing her to 'share' will be met with especially intense resistance.

Perhaps due to the newfound influence of the resident tikicat nanny, growing up with her two nieces, and increasingly-friendly relations with the nearby village of Breeheart, she's far more tolerant of strangers and social interactions than expected of harpies. While she still displays an instinctive hesitancy towards strangers, all it takes is some "good vibes" for her to warm up. She enjoys play and adventure, and is very open to cooperative tactics when doing so. In fact, she prefers the company of others over solitude and would go to great lengths to include others in her shenanigans. Just about anything can be thought of to be a game to enjoy with others. She's a simple bird who doesn't think too hard about things so long as she's happy - upset her or her flock, however, and she's certainly capable of some excessive harpy spite.
She finds her "Little Nanny" to be adorable and, much to her mother's chagrin, hopes to one day have her own "Little Daddy" (or two or three) to take care of and snuggle.

Malek is an extreme of what you might expect from any regular, angst-filled teenager, except when such behaviors have continued into adulthood. He stays to the background of situations, does not apply himself to much of anything, and has a rather large apathy for life. What little he does actively commit to is usually just to distance himself further away from any who might express an interest in him. He holds no preference for solitude or a dislike of others, but rather instinctively does so as a defense mechanism to protect his own fragile emotional state. His mind is filled with such confusion and a need to be understood that it cannot handle the inability to express it. Conversely, however ironic, it would become overwhelmed if he could suddenly do just that.
His instinctive reaction towards being forced into an uncomfortable situation, particularly one he finds emotionally-taxing, is to respond with aggression, hostility, and a heaping dose of silent sarcasm.
If one were to ever break past this icy exterior, they would find a lonely, insecure boy trying to come to terms with himself. Trying to understand why his body would be so broken, trying to find any reason to have any confidence or esteem in himself. He wants to find reason to empathize with others, and the curious and bubbly nature of his childhood still remains. Yet he so desperately pretends that his moments of optimism are flukes, rather than integral to his true nature. They are so closely guarded one might not realize they even existed.

Birth and Early Childhood: Malek is one of three shetani boys born to Dyas and Azure. His inability to speak in a coherent manner plays an important part of growing up. After growing increasingly frustrated at his inability to ask and explain himself, he stops trying to communicate with others. He only does so when they necessitate it.
Power Ceremony: To make a vow of loyalty to the Guardians, Malek is sent to collect three items as an offering. He offers an ivy branch, a old bird's nest, and a slab of shale. After meditating for a time, his mellon Tihsenka appears before him in a ball of light. It takes much time before she is able to explain to him how to use his power.
Quest of the Guardians: A meeting with the squire Harveer provides Malek with the knowledge of an important quest for the Guardians. The items that are needed come from the island heretics, present and past: a naiad cup, a faun coin, an air sword, and a fire wooden rod. He accepts the quest with the hope that completing it will return restore his voice.
Venus’ Engagement Party: To begin collecting the required items, Malek attends one of Venus's infamous parties. He steals a cup left behind by a naiad without issue, but finding the faun's medallion is more difficult. The token finally appears around the neck of one, which he steals from pulling on it until it breaks away from her. Once finished, he promptly leaves and returns home.

To be frank, Vera is a little... very... well... she is quite a dear, as it were. Her heart is in the right place, and she is one of the sweetest pae one could ever have the opportunity to speak with, but most of the time she doesn't understand what is happening around her. Difficult concepts simply do not connect, but rather than waste her time and become frustrated trying to figure them out, she simply smiles and accepts them at face value. Or, rather, she interprets them in her own sort of way. This makes her very easy to talk to about any sort of problem, of which she is always willing and ready to listen to, and somehow she always seems to know what sort of advice to give for a situation. Family comes most important, and she is always welcoming to give hospitality to anynaiad that wanders upon her in need.
That said, she has no desire to become a mother and raise a child once more. She has come to realize that while she loves children more than she could ever express in words, she prefers to play the role of 'grandmother' or 'auntie,' free from the burdens of punishment or the responsibility of how that child shall grow and one day fit into society. Doting upon and spoiling them rotten is far more fun to do.
Given her unique position of everynaiad's easy counsel, her lacking intellect is supported by countless experiences and, from that, an uncanny ability to see straight to the heart of a situation. And with such an eye, naturally she has a loose tongue and a love for exchanging the day's gossip with her lady friends. For all her seemingly-absurd musings, little gets past the notice of old Vera, lady-in-waiting-in-the-hall. Her intuition is, daresay, unparalleled. It is not uncommon for something she gossiped of weeks prior to come out into the light as true. Seemingly aware of this, she also has a fondness to spinning white lies into the gossip for good fun. Only time can determine what is speculation and what is fabrication.
Her patience seems to be endless and acts as a good compliment to her husband's quick temper. However, even she has the potential to eventually reach a sort of limit. What this is, only spirits know, but any sort of outburst from her would be intense and quick, with a distinct feeling of guilt following. Rather than worry herself with the little things and stresses of life, she ignores them and looks to the big picture of life's delights to keep herself grounded about what matters most: not whether or not she was able to secure a sweet treat over dinner, but that everynaiad is alive, well, and has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

They cannot go very long on land (1 hour) without their skin drying out, as they need water to retain and use energy.

There's little that goes on in and around his domain that Snorri is not aware of. Observant and meticulous, he goes to extreme lengths to uphold his standards and ethics, be it in society, family, or religion. This is not just on a personal level, but also a desire for how others look to him. He has been through a lot, seen a lot, in his time, and he would be sure to remind you of that should you start behaving in a disapproved fashion. A naiad of few words, he is not one for expressing emotion or mincing words in explanation, but rather explains himself through his actions.
His weak spot lies with his wife, Vera, and her absolute perfection through her imperfect quirks. He would go to the depths of the sea if it were for her sake and, naturally, simply cannot say no to any of her whims.
When it comes to his job, few might readily admit with such fervor their respect and humbleness towards the position. He dedicates himself fully and completely into whatever task is currently at hand, no matter how mundane it may appear. His personal standards are high, and he is quick to anger when he feels that another is not performing to an adequate level.

You could say his love for merriment could only be usurped by his adoration of the beauty of the body and the tastes of fine foods. Little care is felt for titles or grandeur; all he wishes to do is spend the day with the things that make him happy. He does not care for work, nor does responsibility have a particular value to him, so when he is out playing his bone-flute for people, he does not do so for compensation. Merely seeing their appreciation of his performance or joining in his merriment is enough for him. Among his family and those of the court, he was once ridiculed as being a loafer and a mooch, but his outstanding charisma placated them just enough to prevent being cut off completely during this time. Since he became a musician for Queen Tariel, however, such comments are now far more infrequent.
Hjörtur strives to stay apart from the crowd, to not take things as they are or for granted, and to not force himself into doing something he dislikes solely for the purpose of a position. If he enjoys what he is doing, and if he believes in himself, what should it matter what others think of him? It's no skin off his teeth, and he's not spiteful enough to incite argument simply for the sake of it. The world is too small for such petty prejudices.
While he may act this way in some sense to spite his father and his rigid upbringing, he grew to be this way more so due to a fear of taking responsibility for his actions, committing fully, only to fail. If it will all be for naught anyways, why bother putting in the hard work anyways? Life is short and there are so many things he could be doing, could be seeing, so there really is no point in wondering about the what-ifs or trying to hard, is there? He misappropriates this fear of failure as a contempt for commitment.
Even so, he understands his obligations towards his dependents and would make himself the unhappiest naiad of them all to provide them with a comfortable life with all the opportunities possibly afforded to them. Or, that's what he likes to think. With the growth of his family, he's been humbled by the soft warmth in the unconditional love that it brings. While music may the the love of his life, his family is the love of his soul, and he would risk anything to see them living happily and well. Birth and Early Childhood: Hjörtur is the first and only naiad son born to Vera and Snorri. From an early age, he trains in how to be a guard to the queen like his father, but he has no desire for lessons. His parents' privileges instead allow him to attend and become entranced with the city's grand operas and musical performances. He uses his perfect pitch to construct a bone flute, and he begins spending his days wandering around town and playing it while neglecting his studies and commitments.
On his Own: His parents grow tired of his behavior and send Hjörtur to live by himself in the city. The reputation of being a loafer becomes attached to him and he is looked at with distaste by the general populace. He doesn't mind, though, since he is still able to eat and make merry with those he meets.
Power Ceremony: Hjörtur makes a vow of loyalty to the queen and her court in a power ceremony. He is to be a shaman. Some time later, his mellon Terpsichore appears to him as a ball of light and explains the generalities of his power to him.
Island Cruise: Curious of the land pae'll ways and of a time of pure relaxation, Hjörtur responds to an advertisement about an island cruise around Telrunya. It is much to his liking with wonderful food, plenty to speak with, and just as many wanting to have a good time. One night, the faeries running the cruise abandon the ship, leaving it to crash and send everyone floating in the sea. He awakes on an island with the angel Thalia, one he had had a particularly joyful connection to. They find shelter in an inland glade under some trees and wait out the days until they fully recover. Among the things found, there is a strange jar full of liquid. While they do not drink it there, they make a vow that one day they shall meet again to partake in it before they part ways.
Venus' Engagement Party: Drawn by the promise of fun, Hjörtur attends one of Venus' infamous parties. He participated in a dancing contest and discovers that Thalia is actually one of her daughters: a goddess. They are first to be eliminated, but that dose not ruin their good fun at the party later. After sharing the dance floor and some drinks, she invites him to spend the night with her. They leave after the goddess Eris appears with a pair of large, snake-like pae'll and numerous smaller ones.

Trivia: Hjörtur's character was largely based off of adapting an existing personality of mine to Fifth Age's setting.
"Puberphonia is a functional voice disorder that is characterized by the habitual use of a high-pitched voice after puberty, hence why many refer to the disorder as resulting in a ‘falsetto’ voice" (Raymond H, 2011). Hjörtur's puberphonia is psychogenic in nature and is not heritable. It was likely caused by emotional stress during puberty. He has a complex related to his high-pitched voice.
Hjörtur was the first pae to conceive children with one of Venus' retinue outside of a Valentine's Day event. Additionally, their children were the first pair of fraternal, female-male twin-demigods.
Hjörtur makes semi-frequent visits to Las Venus to visit Thalia and their children. He is recognizable to many of the cherubs as "Thalia's consort." Likewise, Hjörtur is my only pae to have attended every Valentine's Day event, be it alone or as part of a couple, since he became an official character in Fifth Age.
Hjörtur does not drink alcohol outside of parties. He is a bit of a lightweight.
Hjörtur does not make it a habit to hold onto many possessions, preferring a minimalist lifestyle to one full of frivolous items. That said, he is unable to bring himself to throw away things his children have given him and, when it comes to them, he's a bit of a pack-rat. His apartment's walls are extensively decorated by drawings from their childhood.
Hjörtur married into Kelebek's family line - the Sular Clan - when he took her as his wife. He is also tangentially related to Venus' Retinue via his children Daedalus and Calliope and step-granddaughter Mnemo and the Naiad Royal Family via his wife's previous relations with Tûrin, the Queen's Consort.
Hjörtur and Beltan's 'child' from the 2021 CYO Christmas plushies was gifted to Mene.

A free spirit through and through, this bubbly buddy loves to spend time making fun and making sure others are having just as much fun as he is. He's the sort to "go with the flow" and to think on his toes, not really paying much mind to the consequences of his actions or the implications of any sort of boundaries he may cross. As far as he's concerned, that sort of thing shouldn't exit at the cost of a good time. He'd just as readily pull in a stranger for a moment of passionate intimacy as he would bid them goodbye and a healthy future before moving onto his next interesting pursuit. Life is meant to be lived in the moment and spent building friendships - there's no reason to give it much more thought than that. While he can be a bit of a tease or even a little deviant, he does so in good nature and in a way that makes it hard to grow angry with him. And, generally speaking, things have a certain way of working out for the best when he becomes involved.
Rather than forever wallow in the shadows of his sister's natural gift for music, and since he'd rather not grow frustrated by his competitive nature or allow any resentment to develop between them, he has chosen to devote himself to art and archery. That's not to say he isn't talented enough in his own right with making music, but it is difficult to compete with a literal muse of the subject.
Having been raised predominantly by his mother in the Realm of the Gods - Dolander - his behaviors and viewpoints are not contained by the notions of Telrunya. He finds the mortal pae to be exceptionally, incredibly entertaining, and therefore is invested in their comings and goings. They are the perfect amusement to ease his boredom and tickle his innate curiosity, so he watches and occasionally offers aid to them in the same manner a zookeeper might care for its animals. He wishes nothing but an easy life for them, and he would go out of his way to ensure this, but he ultimately finds it intuit that his worth is far above their own ultimately-replaceable lives. There might be a few he dotes upon or otherwise shows more of an affection towards than the rest, but he will never cross that line of becoming emotionally attached. This disconnect applies for his father's bloodline as well, regardless of their familial ties. While he is thankful to their contribution to his existence, and while he might pay special attention towards guaranteeing their happiness, he would favor any pae who has shown him a selfless heart the same.

VenusEris Day 2020: Daedalus finds himself trapped in Eris' Maze of Wars past! Luckily, one of the party-goers - a naga by the name Sedna - happens to pass by and free him from his watery prison. He offers her a delightful party hat and a promise to be there for her if she ever finds herself needing a hand. It's perhaps an unusual move, given she was one of the naga who once laid waste to his Grandmother's temple, but how is he supposed to know that?! That was before his time. Best let bygones be bygones.
Zamarad & the Golden Fish Orphanage: [to do - somehow, Daedalus ends up the patron deity of the budding trading village of Zamarad. Cool, right? As a condition for doing so, however, he asks that they open up an orphanage (in his honor) to help younger pae without parents of their own. After all, he saw how nice it was to see all of his adopted siblings be cared for.]

Her interests are singular and passionate - she devotes herself to the point of obsession towards anything involving musical applications, be it composition, playing instruments, or dancing to the sound of it. She excels in each of these endeavors, although not simply due to her natural talents for the musical arts. She has the drive, and perhaps stubbornness when necessary, to better herself and to become a true master of her passions. It would not be unsurprising to hear of her having lost herself to her endeavors to the point of forgetting to take meals or sleep. Her words become bubbly and ditsy, and she herself seems to lose track of common sense or common knowledge, when given the opportunity to speak on the subject or when she sees an opportunity to indoctrinate pique another's interest in the matter. She takes her interests very seriously and is not above mocking those who disagree with her (correct) viewpoints or displaying outright hostilities towards those that would even imply her credence.
When conversation or activities fall outside of her interests, her demeanor changes greatly. She makes no attempts to hide her boredom and outright disinterest as her mind wanders away, nor would she feel remorse for doing so if called out on it. Frankly, other activities are simply not worth her time, and being made to participate in them at all is quite frustrating for her. A brash sort, he is the sort of pae to tackle his objectives and ideals head-on with little consideration for the consequences. He is quick to make decisions and the sort to stick with them rather than admit a mistake, particularly when they are made to spite someone close to himself. Such a rash method of planning, combined with his own quick-to-irritate hotheadedness, make him fairly easy to understand and predict, but also allows him to get himself into rather dicey situations that could have been easily avoided. And once in there, he is very hesitant to admit his own wrongdoing and directly ask for help, even if he knows he would benefit from it.
To those he is close with, he can appear particularly spiteful or mean-spirited... to a point. He is generally good at never "crossing the line" so to speak, and becomes quite apologetic and upset if he ever accidentally does. His pranks and jeers are meant as a sign of kinship, not bullying, and those he picks on the most are those he would go out and beyond to help if they needed it.
When he is not getting himself into trouble through his impulses, he tends to fall into a more awkward sort of mood. He is prone to distraction and his memory tends to come and go with his interest. It is quite easy for him to forget the reason for why he is doing something in the first place - or what he was meant to be doing - if left to his own devices. This includes conversations as well as others he has previously met - if you did not leave a profound impact on him, it is likely he will not remember you come the next meeting. He can become easily flustered if put on the spot or out of his comfort zone and may do worse around new faces and new situations than he is willing to let on.

Birth and Early Childhood: Sindri is one of two children born to Kelebek and Hjörtur. Neither he nor his brother were conceived naturally and were instead delivered with a hand-written note from Eris following the 2020 Venus Day celebrations, much to their parents' chagrin. The pair made their debut at their parent's wedding celebration, after which they enjoyed a relatively normal upbringing.
Growing Up: As he ages, Sindri finds himself developing in a rather unique way (courtesy of Eris) - namely, he finds himself losing his tail for a pair of legs even while submerged. It presents quite the existential dilemma to the adolescent who suddenly finds a disconnect from what he's known and how he's coming to feel. Not even a candid conversation with his older nephew Anxo can do much to alleviate his concerns.

Sindri and his bother Kadri were not conceived and borne in a natural manner - they were quite literally dropped off at Hjörtur and Kel's home following VDAY 2020.

They can survive in both fresh- and saltwater. Upon leaving the water, their fin will painlessly transform into a set of functional legs. They cannot go very long on land (1 hour) without their skin drying out, as they need water to retain and use energy.

"Harpies tend to be simple-minded pae that prefer to do things on their own, without help. They are spiteful and quick to attack if they feel offended, but are also fiercely loyal to - and protective over - those they bond to."
Sweet as sugar, sensuous as chocolate, bold as butter, and smooth as vanilla, Natalia is generally a very warm-hearted pae to be around. She usually tries to put others in front of herself, tending to their needs before her own. There is a genuine kindness and compassion there, but it would be foolish to say that there isn't any alternative method for acting in such ways. It could be the warmth she feels from seeing their smiling faces, the sweet knowledge of having others indebted to her, the belief that doing good for others will bring good to herself. Perhaps a bit of all three?
Or, perhaps, it is all merely a facade, put there to shield those true emotions from her deeper instincts. Those that slip out when her quickly-ignited and fiery temper lights; those of jealousy and envy, of hatred and spitefulness, of lust, of hunger. Harpy Racial Traits: They are talented singers, though there is no magical abilities associated with this skill. They are fast & high flyers - fastest on Telrunya. They are stronger than a normal Pae'il and able to carry the weight of a full grown Pae'il in their talons as they fly. They can withstand any temperature climate. They can, on rare occasion, turn a female Angel or Demon by maiming them nearly to death.

Hatching and Early Childhood: Natalia is one of the first harpies to have been discovered in Telrunya, though their actual identity remains unknown to all but a select few. She hatches in the home of Navidad. Life is simple growing up in relative peace and isolation with just her mother near.
Leaving the Nest: A time comes when Natalia feels the need to stretch out her wings and create a home of her own. Her parting with Navidad is relatively uneventful, but remains sad. It takes many days before she settles on a spot located in a grove of trees above the ravine.
Venus' Engagement Party: A year after her discovery, Natalia returns to Venus' temple in order to search for answers about her place of origin. She speaks with another like herself, Shakira, and discovers that they are harpies. They promise to meet and speak again some time in the future.
