Most American Christians today cannot respond to any question deeper than "Does God love everyone?" as they think such discourse should be reserved for theological universities, argues Colorado-based Ethan Renoe, who identifies himself as "an artist, traveler, and the Lord often speaks to me in poems."

There is a fear in evangelical Christianity of knowledge, Renoe claims in an article on his website, proposing two reasons behind that fear.

I've seen several instances where Christians declare anyone that has gone to college as being infected by "Liberalism" or that they are denegrated as thinking that they are intelligent (but supposedly aren't) because they have a college education.

I do not understand the anti-intellectualism happening these days. Charles Spurgeon wrote on the same problem of anti-intellectualism in his day, so we know that this is nothing new.... just pervasive, unfortunately.
