User ImageRaven was less then pleased with this situation. Her family knew food was scarce so they had certain alliances with other foxes pairing off members to not only ease the burden of hunting in their own land but to form alliances with other groups. She grew up with it and was expecting it as she had been plied with glittering gifts that now adorned her legs and paws. She also knew she couldn’t fight it as she would end up banished or even attacked by her own family. Tapping her toes she was working on a plan to escape from her ‘destined’ mate who she was going to meet. She had a chance to learn a few things about him. For starters he had actually killed another fox who was to be his mate but who displeased him in some way. She was sure some of it was exaggerated somewhat as there were different versions of the story. The only thing that was all the same across the stories was when the male had dipped his jaws and snapped the other fox’s neck ripping out the other fox’s throat making a mess of blood staining the murderous fox’s white coat red. She knew her betrothed was a violent fox who ruled his small territory with blood and cruelty. If she was late then there would be a cost to her family perhaps? Did she even care anymore given they were passing her off like a slaughtered deer? Honestly Raven gave up caring if anything happened to her family. Her goal was going to be survival.

Starring ahead she saw a path through the meadow leading to a deeply shaded wood that wound itself around a mountain. She knew that not all of it belonged to Ivan but right now it was a rather imposing sight? Perhaps she could manipulate Ivan from behind the scenes? No that was foolish having a mad fox could snap back and bite her. The first plan was better. She plodded along with a single escort. A cousin or something. She didn't care. The sooner she found a way to ditch the guard the better.

Korbe was lounging in a dark forest. The trees were very crowded close which helped hide one from preying sight. He was on his own and for as long as he could remember he had always been. He had heard from passing foxes whispers of different clans ruling this and that. He didn’t understand how these “clans” could fight over territories like they owned the thing. If there wasn’t food where they were why not leave to the area to find more food. What was the point of holding land? Prey moved so why wouldn’t one move with said prey. These clan foxes seemed very foolish in his option. He was only half aware of the world. His mind wandering and his eyes closed when his ears picked up something in the distance.

The ornaments made no noise as they were prevented from jingling by her fur. She kept glancing at her escort. They seemed to not pay too much attention which was good. If they were sleepy they might not notice her slip away. She started to hum a lullaby softly and kept walking with them painfully taking her time to fall behind so that they wouldn’t notice. She was not much a fighter and even if she couldn’t place the fox’s name she cringed at the idea of spilling blood of another fox. It seemed like she kept walking for an eternity. She had offered no signs of resistance so far and between the warmth of the sun and the lullaby the escort was walking in a little daze and was soon walking in front of her. With one goal accomplished she softened her humming so it wouldn’t seem strange not to hear it and kept going ever so slowly dropping back further. When she thought she was safe she started to veer to the side more as she walked. Then when the other fox was a fox and a half length in front of her Raven’s impatience got the better of her and she stopped humming and bolted hard into a full sprint. It was time to get free from all this.
