Personality: Ozwald is a depressed, self loathing, apathetic young man. He holds little to no worth in himself or his own well being, which can be attributed to his upbringing. As such he doesn't seem to care if he gets severely injured and fuels his self destructive tendencies. He tries to act 'normal' around other people, but often thinks that he and they are worlds apart. Put simply he often sees himself as less than human but puts on a mask of sorts to try to relate to other better. He'll only drop this act around those that he trusts. He's not the most talkative person, being quiet to the point of coming off as a mute. That's not to say he has an aversion to conversation, he can be roused into one if his interest has been piqued. He's not used to receiving affection or positive attention from others, leaving him quite flustered. And if one continues to show him such kindness, he might just become attached to that person. He's quite intelligent, yet doesn't understand jokes all that much. Which leads to him taking things that were meant to be lighthearted in a serious light. He does funnily enough have a firm grasp of sarcasm. It should be noted that it is wise not to sneak up and/or touch him as he can be a bit jumpy. He almost constantly looks very tired, mostly because he doesn't get much sleep. Which also can lead to him coming off as a bit of a grouch, not that he really means to be. Ozwald is not proud of his past and desperately wishes to leave it behind. That isn't easy for him, as he is haunted by his demons and the many terrible acts he has committed. But with time and enough perseverance, he believes he can come out clean. Interestingly he has a bit of an oral fixation and can be found chewing on various things or smoking a cigarette. Which is always something he keeps on his person. Not having the most orthodox of childhoods, he's rather curious and fascinated by some of the simplest things. He can be a bit self conscious about his looks and especially his height and has a bad habit of slouching. While no stranger to violence, he tries to live a pacifistic lifestyle but old habits die hard and he's no pushover. Try to hurt him and he'll pay it back, doubly so if you try to hurt someone he's fond of. He has a soft spot for children and animals, yet also has a fear of them since he considers them fragile and innocent. He absolutely despises those who prey on the weak, standing up for those who might not be able to help themselves. At the heart of it all Ozwald is a young man who wants to be a good person and shake off all the bad habits and things holding him back from living a decent life.
Bio: When Ozwald was born, his parents found themselves unable to care for him the way they thought he deserved. So to give him a chance at a better life, they put him up for adoption. An older woman named Opal was happy to adopt the baby, however his birth parents were unaware of her ulterior motives. In truth Opal was the leader of a group of assassins, and tended to take young children in. She found their young minds easy to mold into perfect killing machines. From a young age Ozwald was subjected to vast amounts of training, ranging from weapons proficiency, unarmed combat and even knowledge of different poisons. He was also mentally conditioned to listen and obey those above him. Opal turned out to be quite a harsh woman, if one of the children didn't do things to her strict specifications they would be punished. She didn't lavish them with much positive attention or loving affection. As she would often say, 'Human weapons don't need love, that would just make them weak.' As it would turn out, Ozwald was pretty talented and a quick learner. By the time he turned 10, he was being sent out on assignments with elder members of the group and which soon led his first kill. He was considered a prodigy among the members, able to turn off his emotions and seemingly unaffected by the death and violence that surrounded him. During his teenage years he'd take on a mentor role to the younger children. However it often bothered him how such small children were being trained to be killers. But by this point in his life he had learned not to question Opal or her practices. While he had been fine with his life up until this point, he often wondered if there was more to life. If he could ever be anything but a deadly killer. He would write about these musings in a journal that he secretly kept. If he ever thought about, much less voiced the desire to leave the group he knew he'd be killed. Betrayal was not looked upon lightly and Opal didn't appreciate her weapons demonstrating desires and free will. Growing into young adulthood he was paired up with a young boy named Malik. They worked very well together, but Malik seemed to not take to the mental conditioning. He tried to convince Ozwald that they should run away and leave this terrible life behind as he had come to see the older boy as a big brother figure. This left Ozwald conflicted, he had actually grown to care about Malik which was something entirely foreign to him. He would consider it many a time before changing his mind. How could he leave the only life he'd ever known. Could he even make a new life when all he knew was violence and death? And what if they were caught, surely they would be put to death for running.
He would ruminate over this for many months, but for a time they continued on their assignments. That is until one of their jobs went horribly wrong, their target apparently knew people were coming after him. So for protection the man hired another contract assassin from an opposing group. This lead to a 2 on 1 fight which had them on the ropes. Their opponent had years and experience on the duo. Ozwald knew they didn't have a chance but was ready to sacrifice his life to allow Malik to escape. Unfortunately the opposite was to happen. Malik ended up taking a bullet to the chest in place of Ozwald as he just didn't want his big brother to die. This left the older boy in shock and in a fit of rage, pushed back the opponent until he fled. In his last moments Malik asked just one favor of Ozwald. 'Please big bro, get out of this life. Run as far away as you can, live a better life for the both of us.' For the first time in what felt life forever Ozwald cried, he cried and promised Malik that he'd honor his request. This allowed Malik to die with a peaceful smile on his face. Giving his partner.. no his brother a proper burial in an unmarked grave, Ozwald began planning to fake his own death. There was really no other way out, if he just outright ran away he'd be tracked down. So he made it seem like both of them had died. He found a person who matched his body close enough, killed them and then burned the body beyond recognition. He'd make it seem like he went after the other assassin and died trying to fight him, being burned as a means to get rid of the evidence. Stopping by the apartment the two had been staying at, he packed a few belongings, took the money they had put away and like that was gone. After that he just drifted from place to place, no place truly felt like home. Then in his travels he happened upon the city of Soleil. The sunny beach town caught his attention, it seemed like a place that Malik would've liked. So to honor his spirit he chose this place to settle down. He hopes to live a life his fallen brother would be proud of.
