Waking up early in the morning was not something Dr'cul was against. He had always been an early riser, going down to the Healers before his Candidate lessons and chores to see if there was anything that was needed of him. While he had been a candidate at the weyr, being a surgical healer had been of an asset that he had been used for quite a lot. He could easily help those that the Master Healer was unable to get to. Though that was going to change from here on out, there would be no time for Dr'cul to go down and see if anything was needed. His entire world now revolved around the lithe blue who had walked up to him and impressed him.

He found himself wondering just what he had gotten himself into.

Harneth walked regally at Dr'cul's side as the tall man moved through the weyr. The young dragon's hide was beginning to itch went meant it was time for him to be oiled. The blue had a certain temperature he preferred his oil to be, as well as how he liked to have it rubbed on him. All of which he had not hesitated to explain to his bonded as soon as the first oiling had begun.

After my oiling, I believe we should try and go find some of the others. Harneth's thoughts easily moved through Dr'cul's head and he was beginning to get used to the situation, though it was still strange. Meeting the other weyrlings and finding comrades among them. Harneth was not going to rest until he made sure his bonded had friends, and Dr'cul was very much aware of that.

"Alright Harneth, but first we have to take care of your itching hide." It was hard to try and go about the day when he began to feel the gnawing hunger or the itching skin.

Reaching the lake, Dr'cul placed the bucket of oil he had warmed up down and moved to sit himself on a rock. The weather was nicer today and it felt wonderful to be outside, especially after the winter they had had. Harneth situated himself in front of his rider, sitting regally upon his haunches as he waited for him to start.

Heichath was already proving to be a challenge; an unusual Hatching was bound to result in unusual Dragons and the large blue was no exception to this. Insubordinate by nature and already questioning the social structure of the world he had hatched into, Dorame knew she was in for a wild ride. The woman would have expected nothing yet to hers, for Heichath shared her same impossible ambition, his eyes fixed upwards towards all the stars in the sky and beyond.

Alas, it was not just the Blue’s personality that was causing issues though, it was also his comical size. With feet that were at least two sizes too big for him and a bulky body that was unrelenting in its girth, the poor thing's skin in constant need of attention. The itching was insufferable at times and if hers was uncomfortable, he would make sure she was aware of the fact. The bulky blue would let her rub his skin until he was raw, so Dorame had to make to be stern with him at times. He would whine and beg, but as soon as he realised that doing so only prolonged his next oiling he gave up that tactic.

Heichath was an intelligent blue and he would not waste energy pursuing a cause of action that he knew yielded no results. He had been good that night and as promised; it meant she was up first thing to tend to him. When it came to a choice between breakfast and bathing, he always chose to bathe. It was unexpected really; one would think a blue of his size would be forever hungry. In reality, he was a modest eater.

Approaching the lake; Heichath rushed off ahead. Leaving his chosen behind to carry the bucket of oil. The brunette sped into a light jog to try and keep up, but short legs did her no favours and he was soon disappearing out of sight. Dorame was 5’2 and could be mistaken for a child despite being in her twenties. Especially on days light today where she was bundled under lays of fabric and her hair was tied in a messy braid. Heichath, are you looking forward to a massage that much?

No DorameMine; it is my brother. Please hurry, I want to introduce him to mine!

It was Heichath that arrived at the lake first, a bulky body being carried by large, clumsy looking feet. There was a glimmer of joy in his eyes as he approached the other blue, reunited again. Harneth! My dear brother. Heichath has found you again; you look well! Mine will be here soon, I want to introduce you. His tail flicked from side to side, his head turning to look back from where he had approached just in time to see Dorame appear from around the corner. Having given up on catching the blue, she had returned to a regular walk to not spill the contents of the bucket she carried.

Damn it, why did she have to fill this bucket up so high?

DorameMine; hurry and meet my dear brother!

Heichath's words entering his mind made Harneth turn his head and regard the other blue as he joined them. He let out a polite trumpet as his brother came to them. Heichath, brother, yours seems to be taking very good care of you. Harneth had a particular eye as he looked over all of his clutch siblings, while he knew they would have made the perfect choice for them, he still wanted to make sure they were treated just the way they should be. He wished Moseleth had chosen someone from the same weyr as his, but he was going to do his best to make sure that he kept in touch with his favored bronze brother.

This is my Dr'cul, Heichath. He is a journeyman Surgeon and quite a logical young man. The words were shared with Dr'cul, as was the wave of admiration the blue sent towards his bonded. It caused Dr'cul to laugh softly to himself, his confidence was already high enough and yet Harneth seemed to continue to stroke it even higher.

Grey eyes moved to look at the woman who was moving towards them. He had seen her around before, like he had seen most of the other candidates, though he had never talked much to her. He knew Harneth would make him talk to her, to be polite, especially since they were both here to oil their dragons hides.

Perhaps you should go and see if yours might need some help. Harneth was watching Dorame walking towards them, taking her time to make sure she didn't spill the oil. He prodded at Dr'cul and continued until the man stood up to his full height and moved over towards where Dorame was.

"I'm sure you are more then capable of carrying this on your own, but it seems my dragon was not going to stop bothering me unless I came over and offered you assistance." He could feel Harneth listening, making sure his words were polite and not rude in the slightest.

Heichath spread his wings and pushed up onto his hind legs as if to show off just show well Dorame was taking care of him. Large and thick with muscle, he was a very proud creature. Every new inch was something to be celebrated and Dorame knew better than anyone that he was counting every one of them. He would be bigger, bigger than a brown he promised; like that mattered to her. Dorame had no idea where the idea had come from but had a feeling he was projecting his own feelings. Heichath wanted to be as big as a brown because he wanted to be as strong as one, as revered as one; he wanted to prove that a blue could be just as mighty. That was his dream, and Dorame could relate. She would see it come true.

Green orbs left his brother to look at the man by his side. Dr’cul, thank you, Harneth is very happy that you are his. In the eyes of Heichath, Dr’cul was a part of their family now, as were all the Riders that Impressed during their clutch. The darker blue had dreams, dreams of a Wing all of their own; if he was to fly with this man, a good first impression had to be made. It is a pleasure to meet you. He added before his attention went back to his brother, too excited to let it focus on anyone else for too long. He was so preoccupied he even forgot about the itching between his toes.

DorameMine, Dr’cul is a Surgeon, just like your Papa right? He asked, though he already knew the answer, he just wanted to add to the conversation and bring everyone into the telepathic channel. Dorame nodded her head in agreement before Dr’cul reached her. Heichath landed back on all for feet, his winging folding in and his tail almost wagging like a giddy labrador. DorameMine is a fierce huntress. He added; he did not want to lie to his brother and in essence, his claim was not untrue. Dorame had made him promise just one thing; to never reveal to anyone her history as an assassin, not even to his most precious siblings. It was a secret, and her Heichath had sworn it.

Dorame smiled as the man approached, bowing her head slightly before looking up. She was so used to the towering men of the High Reached she was surprised she had not developed a kink in her neck. ”Oh?” The brunette raised a brow in amusement at the suggestion. ”What a sweetheart he is.” Her head tilted to the side as she held out the handle to the man that had so kindly offered to carry it for her, not too proud to let someone else do her work. She did not know much about Dr’cul; frustrating really, that so many Impressions had been made on characters that were off her radar. A lack of information was always a hindrance.

”I appreciate finding a quiet moment to properly get introduced, I am sure time has been ticking by quicker since that day on the beach.” It sure had been a whirlwind; no doubt he had been kept as busy as she had. ”I am Dorame.” She added, though she knew he was aware of her name - she supposed it would not be an official introduction unless she offered it.

”And that is the very proud Heichath; I hope he is not been too boastful.”

He had inclined his head to Heichath when he heard the dragons voice in his mind before he had gotten up and moved over towards his rider. The push he could feel from Harneth for him to remain polite, to be nice and make friends, was somewhat chaffing against his normal nature of wanting to just be left alone to his own devices. Then again having a baby dragon to look after meant he could not be left alone to his own devices anyways.

Dorame saying Harneth was a sweet heart got the sleeker and smaller blue to sit a bit more straighter with pride. He was proud of how polite and mannerly he was. Proud of his chivalry code and wanting to put women and others before him, unless there was danger of course. Dr'cul, on the other hand, let a small smirk curl his lips some. If he did what Harneth wanted him to all the time, go up to each woman and suggest he should be doing that for them, he would wind up slapped. "I suppose you can call him that. It is more of an annoyance at times. You were chosen by a dragon so you are just as capable as I am at doing your tasks." It was a very logical way of thinking, even if she was female they were both on blue dragons, fighting dragons. There was nothing to say she was weaker just because of her gender.

I have never suggested that females are not as strong as males are. I just believe that they should not have to work as hard unless they want to. This was said privately between the blue pair as Dr'cul took the bucket she was holding out for him.

"It was very hectic after impression, feeding the hunger hatchlings and oiling them." He nodded his head as he spoke. "I suppose he is right, getting to know your fellow weyrlings is needed. We will be working and living together for a year and then possible working in the same wings."

No, Heichath has not been too boastful, Miss Dorame. Harneth's voice was sweet in her mind as he spoke to her, looking up at her with happy whirling eyes. I know my brother already spoke our names but I am Harneth and my rider is.. "Dr'cul, though before I impressed I was Dorianus." He was not going to let Harneth introduce him again when he was able to speak to her on his own.

Reaching the spot, Dr'cul put her bucket down and moved to go back to oiling Harneth. "You are a hunter then?" He eyed her out of the corner of his eye some, taking in her appearance. There was no wandering or lustful gaze as he looked her over, more a peering and analytical mind taking in every detail and filing it away for later.

“Capable in different ways maybe, you can’t judge a fish by its ability to fly, or a dragon by its ability to breathe underwater. So, the offer to take something heavy off of these spindly arms is welcome. I am grateful.” The brunette was the first to commit her shortcomings, compared to the large men that filled for the Weyr she was weaker, slower and less physically capable. In a fair race or fight, she would lose every time. However, Dorame was clever, manipulative and sneaky. What made her capable was her ability to turn the odds in her favour and the playing field was never fair. Besides, she liked getting people to carry her things. The brunette could play the role of the damsel; is she so chose. “I dare not even think of being assigned Wings yet. There are so many challenges to come before that.”

Mainly when she looked over at those two blues, she could not imagine either getting off the ground at this point, never mind with riders strapped to their backs. The lighter blues comment about her brother made Dorame chuckle, bright green eyes looked over at him before she nodded in agreement. “I am glad Harneth, I trust you to inform and correct his behaviour if he does.” Heichath would have to learn to take instruction from others eventually, his size did not make his voice any more important than his brothers and sisters. The assassin was worried he would boss around his siblings because of it, but Heichath was too kind-hearted to bully anyone.

She pulled the hem of her blue dress from the floor and kneeled down by the bucket that Dr’cul had carried for her. “A hunter, butcher, trophy collector. I specialise in the tracking, study, dissection and eradication of beasts that prove to be dangerous. Then I bring back their pelts to the contractor and make sure another one does not take its place.” A more accurate description of her profession, she knew that Heichath did not like keeping secrets, so she tried to be as truthful as she could without giving away her true nature. With a dragon as social and excitable of Heichath, it would be hard for anyone to believe her cruel. Dorame often wondered if he was wearing a mask too?

“Or I did, there is very little time for that now.” The brunette added with a small shrug, fingers wrapping around the tunnelsnake tooth she wore around her neck. Her little beasts first kill and his first gift to her. They were alike, him and her. Doramine, my feet are itching, please hurry and tend to them. Heichath pleaded, putting a large claw on his companion's lap. The brunette smiled, lifting his toes to kiss them gently.

”I am sorry Heichath, you will grow into them soon, I promise.”

Harneth was producing such a feeling of 'I told you so' to Dr'cul that the taller man sent a glare at the blue dragon. It didn't phase the dragonet one bit as he sat there, looking very proud of himself. He was telling His to be nicer and approach people easier, it would make things easier to get to know his fellow weyrlings, as well as to help others. He was a surgeon after all, a healer, he was supposed to want to help others.

Helping others is fine. As long as it doesn't get too out of hand...I'm not going to just hand out freebies all the time. He had gotten use to experimenting with a lot of his patients, trying new was to stitch people back up again, easier ways to remove something. It helped sometimes with fixing a Threadscore wound as well, not that Thread returned. He was sure he'd have to be patching up himself and other weyrlings and Riders fairly soon.

"Well, then I am glad to have helped." He bit back a comment that responded to her referring to her arms. He helped people sure but he didn't have a bleeding heart to go out and help everyone. He had felt the reproach that Harneth had at the thought and decided not to anger the dragonet by saying it. He also didn't know how this woman would react to any of the cruel teasing he normally did.

Commenting about not being ready to think about wing assignments yet, as well as graduating Dr'cul nodded his head slowly, going back to oiling Harneth. "It goes by fast, however. The Senior weyrlings are already close to graduating." His eyes stayed on the small blue in front of him, letting out a happy noise as his headknobs were gently rubbed. "It won't be too long before they are bigger then us."

Harneth seemed to take interest in what Dorame was saying she did. His whirling blue eyes watched her, listening intently. Dr'cul was sure the little dragon was trying to figure out a way for him to offer his help to her. It was annoying and yet he couldn't help but feel fondness to the blue, the adoration that he always felt from him was intoxicating. He had never expected to impress and had never expected to find his dragon to be so enamored by him. That is a very interesting, if dangerous job. There was a want to protect that Dr'cul felt from the blue but he easily pushed it down. She is capable of doing it Harneth. She has been for many years it seems. Dorame, when you begin to go about your job once more, if you find yourself hurt because of it, please do not hesitate to come to my Dr'cul for help. He is a healer, as I mentioned before, and very proficient.

There it was, the help he knew Harneth was offering him up for. He shook his head some, but didn't argue with it. There was a chance he could try out new techniques anyways, as long as he asked her. It would never compromise her health of course.

Not too long before we are bigger than Mine, maybe. Heichath joked. Dorame near rolled her eyes as she heard the words echo in his head, not because she was ashamed about her height; but rather the fact it seemed to be her companions favourite quip.

The large blue only ever spoke the words in jest. It was his Rider’s stature that inspired him; the brunette had been the on the receiving end of many jokes over the years of her candidacy, hushed snickers as she stood side by side with the large, hardened men of the high reaches. Dorame was no taller than then a child with a face that was too soft and youthful. However, Heichath had seen her fight opponents twice her size and come out victorious. If someone so petite could be so brave, then the dragon felt nothing would be impossible for the giant he was destined to become.

The girl looked at her beasts sibling; letting a soft smile creep onto her face as he encouraged her to seek their help if she ever needed it. “That is very kind of you Harneth, though I doubt I will be returning to my Craft anytime soon. The hunt is over for me; the battle turns towards the skies.” Almost echoing the point she was making, green orbs looked up towards the clouds above their heads.

The once assassin doubted many contracts would find their way to her now she was a Weyrling. Besides, Dorame was sure Heichath would nearly have a stroke at just entertaining the idea of her putting herself in harm's way. He knew what she was, what she had done, what she had trained to be; he saw her virtue despite her past and the sins she had committed on the behalf of others.

However, her future was his to dominate.

The girl rubbed between the dragon's toes, green eyes flickering to the male Weyrling once more. The look she gave him was not as welcoming as the one she offered his creature, but it was by no means unfriendly. She simply did not know what she made of the healer yet; his usefulness was apparent but he seemed distant, not so unlike her own father. “Besides, I am sure with Dr’cul’s talents, he will be kept very busy.” People always needed patching back together, especially inside the walls of a Weyr.

”My father was a healer in his youth and whilst I was growing up he ran a medical facility and training programme out of our family home. I was never one of his apprentices and had no interest in learning his craft, but there were times that the situation demanded my participation regardless.” When tragedy hit in a land as isolated as the one where she was raised, every set of hands were needed; even untrained ones. She was offering her fellow Weyrling a chance to talk, seeing as his companion seemed all too eager to be his voice.

”In reflection, it is probably the most time I spent with the man. His profession consumed every aspect of his life from dawn to dusk; no doubt a common trait to be found in surgeons. It is an unapologetically demanding career that is always evolving. I have the deepest respect for it.”
