[PRP] Better than a Bronze (L'iand & Illa + dragons)

After landing back at High Reaches Weyr and allowing them to be fussed over a little, L’iand had taken Aryath and began walking towards the weyrs. Why are we going this way? Everyone else is gathering for the Feast. They were walking away from the adoring public and Aryath wanted to know why.

“There is some important people you need to meet. They will be thrilled with you. Don’t worry.”

I’m not worried. Everyone loves me.

L’iand and Aryath were almost there. Just around this bend in the path and then hopefully she was there.

Aryath, who had been starting to droop a little because he was tired and all the people to show off for were behind them, perked up at the greeting. Rightly so they have been anticipated. His feet stepped a little lighter and his wings were held out slightly making him appear even larger than his already large self.

“Hi Illa.” The greeting was simple with a voice full of pride.

L’iand gave a lopsided grin. “Seems not.” He could feel Aryath studying his mentor carefully. She won’t bite.

That is not why… An indignant huff sounded through L’iand’s head. It was a strange sensation for him, almost like someone blew across his mind, that caused him to squint a little in confusion. Aryath trotted over to the new lady and posed for her. Why would he want a bronze, when he has got me? He asked her.

“Thank you, Fenrith.” There was still part of the young man that was the little boy who preened under the praise from the dragon.

Anyone else insulting him that way might have gotten L’iand worked up and in their face to disprove, or possibly prove, the merit of the insult. Illa though, he knew it wasn’t meant to be harsh. It was matter of fact. He had been being an idiot. “There were three bronzes in the clutch. Two ended up going to Western and one came here. We’ll have to see how they turn out. But you are right. I got the better deal.”

Aryath studied the lady more carefully. He too would have been up in her face about insulting his except that L’iand was completely fine with it. So he pondered. This must be a very special lady indeed. We can do anything a bronze can do! And more! We are more versatile and useful than a bronze, us browns. Aryath was still including Illa and now Fenrith in the his commentary. Why keep it to just L’iand?
