A tiny lil pink butterfly flits into Fluttershy's lil nook and waits just a moment to let her fall asleep before landing on her head and disappearing into her mind.

====================================

Mmmm, this is nice.

So cozy.

Mommy, wait!

Falling

Falling

Falling

Falling

Where did my mommy go? MOMMY!

Panic and fear set it.

Struggling to move

Claustrophobia

HELP! HELP!

Falling

Falling

Falling slows

Bounce

Bounce

Tumble and roll to a stop

Where's Mommy?

Fear from the fall and fear from the detachment from the floating tree made her cry within her tiny shell.

"We found another one. Let's put it with the others."

"Mommy? Is that you?"

A bright light, so bright, and it won't go away.

------------------------------

When the top of the acorn pops off, a tiny little yellow fauny with little wings pokes her tiny head from the shell of the seed. She remembers nothing of her fall. She remembers nothing from her thoughts before the acorn top popped off. Little eyes blink for the first time, little fingers wiggle for the first time, and push against the shell. Little hooves shuffle and kick on the shell. The little yellow pegasus pushed herself free. Where is this place?

She starts to cry a screaming cry. Her lungs and vocal cords stretching for the first time.

Gentle hands slid under the baby's arms to lift her in the air. She cried more, scared of falling. Where did that fear come from?

She is brought close to a soft chest, held close. "Shhh little one, you are okay."

The baby looks up to see the dark fur of a loving face smiling down at her.

Safe. Smells nice

A little yellow hand reaches out to touch the purple sparkled hair surrounding the face of the one holding her. She giggles for the first time.

"Welcome home." The scent of lavender surrounded the baby yellow pegasus and she was rocked to sleep in Princess Luna's arms.

----------------------------------------

"Hurry!! The ship is leaving soon! Fluttershy the Cakes, they need help with the twins!" The pale blue pegasus with rainbow hair shouted.

"But Pinkie can get--"

A pink blur with a what looked like a ball of fauny on her back zipped past heading for the ship. "Okay" she replies softly.

The babies are safely secured to Fluttershy's back. "We have to hurry" She looked up to the sky, it was getting dark. She could see just barely over the horizon a black fog. "oh no, hurry!"

The Cakes are safely led aboard Celestia's ship,as they are thanking the yellow pegasus, she just leaves, leaving nothing behind except a waning "Oh no!"

She had to find Angel, and Fuzzy and oh, all the little creatures too! She is rounding them up and black fog has grown closer, and nearly on top of Equestria. "FLUTTER SHY! We.have.to.go.NOW!" Rainbow Dash whipped around to push her friend towards their salvation.

"But ... but ... but..." She reached back, "Angel, Fuzzy!"

Darkness fills the sky above. Celestia's ship has set off. "FLUTTER SHY WE HAVE TO GO!" Rainbow Dash yells at her friend, pushing her towards the ship. "We can make it, just let go and fly!"

But Flutter Shy couldn't leave the critters and creatures behind.

The darkness has created a dome over Equestria. Fluttershy and Rainbow Dash are trapped now.

The fog slowly moves down, and the plants and trees start to turn black and wither.

Something made her push back against her friend, against the shoving. Her wings stayed glued to her back, rigid and tight. No. She couldn't fly, not like that. It was too hard, too fast, too dangerous. Besides...she couldn't leave the animals...she couldn't!

Fluttershy managed to break free from Rainbow's grip and stumbled away from the other pegasus. Quickly she spun in circles, her gaze racing as quickly as her mind. Thoughts swirled around in her head making her dizzy. A wave of nausea overwhelmed her to the point that she almost fell to her knees.

Calm down Fluttershy, you have to calm down! her inward self pleaded with her. She had to be calm, the animals needed her! She couldn't leave them to be overcome by the fog. To wither and die like the plant life around her... If only she could remember..... There!!

A lone yellow backpack sat just up a head, stuffed to the brim and wiggling as if it were alive. Something like relief washed over Fluttershy as she pointed. "Dashie... Dashie please you have to help me!" she called out to her friend, racing towards the yellow backpack. The pegasus fell to her knees, arms wrapping around the bag like a precious treasure. She opened the top of the flap and peeked inside, a smile curling about her face as she lifted it into her arms and slowly drew herself to her hooves. Turning back around, Fluttershy smiled to where she thought Rainbow Dash would be, waiting. But instead it was nothing. Rainbow Dash was completely gone...and so was the ship. Not even a trace of its figure shimmered in the distance, it was just empty nothingness. "Oh no.... no no no..." she gasped softly, taking a step forward.

And then another.

Followed by another and another until she had broken into a full out run. Instinctively her wings spread, racing at her full speed towards where the ship used to be. Towards where her friends used to be. Not even sure what she was expecting to find, Fluttershy ran anyways and just when she was about to give a pump of her wings, she tripped.

Falling face first, Fluttershy landed hard into the ground, her bag flinging forward and tumbling away from her. The flap burst open, thousands upon thousands of small critters exploding from the bag like some kind of animal bomb. So many animals continued to pour from the bag, far more than physically possible, all tumbling out onto the ground and melting into each other until they began to form a massive current of fur, tooth and claw. Rabbits flowed forth like a river. Mice and tiny hamsters tumbled backwards and forwards in a current. Birds fluttered into the sky before seemingly dissolving into the air around them. Fluttershy cried, reaching for her animal friends, trying desperately to pull them back into the safety of the bag only to fail with each grasp. Every critter she reached for seemed to melt out of her hands, sliding through them like liquid until they joined back into the ocean of creatures that had now not only swallowed up Fluttershy herself, but everything surrounding them as well.

Their terrified cries, squeaks and squawks crashed noisily against her ears like that of a enraged ocean. Everywhere she looked, a tsunami of wailing critters rose over her and crashed down hard into the others below. The thick fog and their slowly liquefying masses made them look like shrived specters of their former selves. Fluttershy could only scream in horror as she was swept along, jarred side to side and pushed farther down into the sea of fur and scales. She cried so hard now that not even tears flowed from her face as she still tried desperately to reach for her animal friends, calling out their names in turn.

Angel!

Fuzzy!

Kirk!

Buttercream!

Mister Nanners!

Aquamarine!

Songbird!

More and more she sank, eaten alive by the 'storm'. No longer able to hold her head above the 'waves', Fluttershy sank. A few critters spiraled downward along with her. A small mouse was swept by, its little legs scrambling aimlessly. A snake slithered downwards into the depths. A couple birds beat their wings relentlessly but still fell ever downward. But Fluttershy couldn't help but notice something...

The more she sank, the clearer everything seemed to become. The fog seemed to lift, the darkness faded and everything seemed as if she were looking through walls of glass. Perfect glass, without any trace of imperfection, so clear you wouldn't be able to tell it was there until you ran smack dab into it. Her body continued to float downward as she glanced around her, dazed and confused. When she'd open her mouth, nothing came out, not even bubbles, causing her to wonder if she was even under 'water' to begin with. Just then a familiar flash of white caught her attention and she whipped her head to the right just in time to see Angel bunny whizzing past her. Again she opened her mouth to cry for him but no words came out. What she heard instead was a loud, suction like sound like that of water rushing down a drain.

Her eyes widened.

A dark abyss opened below her, sucking in everything around it. Several critters she had seen 'sinking' earlier were quickly swept down into the darkness. Angel bunny glanced up at Fluttershy, his face full of terror as he tried to swim back up to her. Fluttershy screamed a silent scream as she reached out for him but it was too late. Angel disappeared into the darkness and Fluttershy realized she too was quickly being pulled into the dark depths below. Frantically she flailed about but not even devoting every ounce of energy she had to flapping her wings helped and soon her entire world went black. A tightness overcame her as she was pulled down into the darkness and then.... nothing.

----------------------------------------

Fluttershy groaned, rolling over in bed, sweat beading her brow as she thrust out an arm and slashed at the air. Unconsciously she gasped then sucked in a breath of air and seemed to settle....for a moment anyways.

Another brief sensation of falling....yet this time... it was different.

It wasn't comforting at first. And it was much more brief.

Her body hit the floor with a soft thud and the first thing she noticed was how cold and damp it felt. Her eyes had yet to even open but her hands slowly began to move beneath herself as she weakly lifted herself to a sitting position. Rubbing her hands against her face, Fluttershy managed to pry her eyes open, though it took much more force than necessary to pry her top lids from her bottom ones. The scene that greeted her now was far different than the ocean of critters from before.... but far more terrifying.

At least to her.

It was still dark. Still foggy. Strange cries echoed far off, too far to even make out proper words. Roots twisted and tangled around her, gnarled from age and....something else. The more Fluttershy glanced around, the more she realized the roots weren't just around her hooves, they were all over. The walls on three sides of her were that of bark, vines twisting their way up and onto the low 'roof'. Before her was a gate of roots, twisted around each other like bars meant to keep something out...

... or someone in.

Fluttershy gasped into her hands. She cried words that sounded like baby babble to her own ears as realization of where she was began to sink in.

"You knew you'd wind up here eventually." a voice taunted from somewhere on the other side. "Why are you even surprised?" an evil laugh followed.

Fluttershy cried more into her hands as she watched the figure of her very own Chief Rais emerge from the darkness, standing taller usual. His green gaze seemed to illuminate the darkness as he pressed himself against the root bars of her dungeon cell, one hand on his staff, the other arm resting against the 'bars'. He looked at his staff absent mindedly before back at Fluttershy, a smirk spread across his features that she couldn't understand. A small breeze from somewhere played with the ends of his long blond braid and what little light that shone down here played off his brown and tan fur. For a brief moment, Fluttershy found her gaze drawn to him in a way she couldn't explain. She was still terrified out of her mind but a small thought in the back of her head couldn't help but think he looked..... unusually handsome. Almost... unnaturally so....

"To pay for the crimes you've committed...for betraying the tree and your very own people...." he spoke, his voice low as he traced a finger down one of the root bars, pausing to twirl it about a stem that was newly sprouting forward, looking for something to grasp a hold of. "You evaded me for so long...but you can't run anymore! This dungeon is your home now....and you'll spend the rest of your eternity....down here with me.... Hah, Hah hahaaahaa!!!" his voice grew. Louder, deeper, growling like that of something otherworldly. As his voice grew, so did he. His figure began to shift. Muscles bulged beneath his fur, his hooves nearly doubled in size. The soft tan tones of his fur began to bleed into a dark crisp red as if it had been splattered with blood. His branches began to shift, curling downward and over themselves until they now resembled that of twisted ram horns. His once emerald gaze was now dark, black soulless slots where his eyes used to be. He grinned and pressed his hands into the bars, laughing.

Fluttershy screamed, clawing her way backwards but could only go so far until she reached the back wall of her cell. "No... no please! I'm sorry... I'm s-s-sorry!" she cried but it seemed to do practically nothing.

"I do so like it when they beg!" the now faun like demon taunted her.

But then another voice cut through the darkness.

"Unhand her, you foul beast!" he shouted.

A basket hurled through the air, hitting the demon faun right in the face, bursting into a puff of powder orange. The demon paused, blinking as it wiped the strange powder from his face. He glanced down at his now orange stained hands and blinked, confused. "Huh?? Carrot?"

"That's right! Now begone foul beast and leave this Princess alone!" the other voice cried again, tossing yet another basket. And then another. Basket after basket flew from the shadows, pelting the demon faun with more and more carrot scented orange powder. Fluttershy stared bewildered as the beast went down, his size drastically decreasing with each wail. When it was all said and done, the orange cloud slowly lifted and on the floor Fluttershy spotted the tiny form of what looked like a baby Rais, curled up and sleeping peacefully in a ray of sunlight.

Timidly, she scooted forward in attempt to see when the other figure appeared at the root bars. A swift motion of his hands and the door swung open. Fluttershy scrambled to her hooves but paused as a green hand was held out for her. Blinking, Fluttershy watched as the figure stepped slightly into the light, the familiar face of a certain brown haired alicorn now revealed. Fluttershy felt tears of joy rush down her cheeks. "Everfree!" she gasped, darting forward to her friend. "I'm so glad to see you!" she said breathlessly, panting from weariness.

"Fear not my dear friend, you are safe now." he seemed to coo gently.

Fluttershy smiled, allowing herself to shut her eyes and regain her composure. "You saved me..." she whispered softly, wiping a few tears from her face.

"Yes....that is what friends do..... but..... in repayment...." her friend spoke.

Confused, Fluttershy glanced up at the alicorn, eyes wide.

"How about you feed me already?!" the large head of Angel bunny now spoke. The rest of Everfree's body morphed into that of a giant sized rabbit that now glared down at Fluttershy angrily. "I'm HUNGRY!" he shouted and thumped his foot against the earth, the sheer force causing an earthquake to ripple across the grounds.

Fluttershy squeaked and fell backwards from the shock wave.....

----------------------------------------

The force of the fall caused her to awake, shooting straight up in bed. Fluttershy glanced around, heaving as she fought to catch her breath. Her eyes wide and heart pounding, she looked first towards her sons, sleeping quietly in their bed. Then towards Angel who was also still fast asleep in his bed at the foot of hers. Sighing, Fluttershy grunted, pressing her head into her palms and rubbed her face.

"No more late night snacks...." she whispered into her palms before flopping backwards into bed again.
