Welcome to the Safari Zone! At the Safari Zone we have begun to hold capture contests! As the name implies it is a contest to see who can catch the biggest, rarest Pokemon out there! The contest is simple, in the Safari Zone you will find many different kinds of Pokemon, from all over the world in fact! We give participants three Safari Balls to use and attempt to capture the best Pokemon they can, or you can use any three Pokeballs of their own, if you do, we do not give you any Safari Balls. [You may use one of yours and two of ours and so forth. You are only allowed to use three Pokeballs total.] You are allowed to take just one of your own Pokemon into the park to use to weaken a wild Pokemon for capture, so don't let it get knocked out! Pokemon are judged on their quality, rarity, and how well the capture was roleplayed. So are you interested? Then sign up, take your Safari Balls, and hit the grass and find the best Pokemon you can!

Also, the Pokemon available is always different. The zone we'll be hunting in this time is the Hidden Oasis Zone! An oasis hidden away in the desert, a pristine lake at its center surrounded by lush foliage which makes for a diverse sanctuary in a harsh desert.

How to Participate:

The rules for the Safari Contest are simple. Pick one Pokemon to use in the contest, and when you post your character looking for a Pokemon use the random number generator to find out what Pokemon your character finds. Set the lowest number to 1 and the highest to 100 for the main area and 1 to 50 for the side areas. Once your post goes through, check to see what number you got, then, look at the list of available Pokemon, at the bottom of this post, to see what Pokemon appeared.

Then, in your next post once the Pokemon has been decided, begin battling it all in one post. But before you post your battle, use the Random Number generator again to see if the capture was successful, setting the lowest to 1 and the highest to 10, however, different Pokeballs have different success rates depending on what Pokemon or area you are using them on/in. Consult the list below to see what Pokeballs benefit this area.

----------

[Safari Ball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Pokeball] 50% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Great Ball] 60% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Ultra Ball] 70% Success Rate on any Pokemon.

[Net Ball] 70% Success Rate on Bug and Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dive Ball] 70% Success Rate on Water type Pokemon, 50% on all others.

[Dusk Ball] 70% Success Rate on Pokemon found in caves, 50% on anything else.

[Nest Ball] 70% Success Rate if Pokemon is a lower stage than your own Pokemon.

[Repeat Ball] 70% Success Rate. Allows a fourth and final capture attempt after the previous three have failed.

[Quick Ball] 80% Success Rate on your first Pokemon encountered only, 50% on all consecutive.

[Timer Ball] 80% Success Rate if it's your last Pokeball only, 50% on any prior.

[Heal Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon if you failed to capture it once already, 50% if not.

[Luxury Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

[Fast Ball] 80% Success Rate on a fast Pokemon.

[Heavy Ball] 80% Success Rate on a heavy Pokemon.

[Level Ball] 80% Success Rate on a first stage Pokemon (Spearow, Stunfisk, etc.), 50% on all others.

[Love Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon with only a single gender, 50% on all others.

[Lure Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon fished out of the water.

[Friend Ball] 80% Success Rate on a Pokemon that evolves with happiness.

For success rates of 50%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

For success rates of 60%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6

For success rates of 70%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7

For success rates of 80%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8

For success rates of 90%, you must receive one of the following numbers from the Random Number generator to capture the Pokemon: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9

----------

As long as you still have Pokeballs you may continue to hunt and capture Pokemon until you get one you are comfortable with. If you catch a Pokemon, but then choose to catch another, you must release the first Pokemon you caught before keeping the second. Once you run out of Pokeballs your time is up and the Pokemon you last caught will be the one judged.

When everyone is done (a specified time will be given when the contest will end, regardless if others are done) all Pokemon caught will be judged. Each Pokemon will be judged individually in separate posts where a random number will be used to judge their quality, between 1 and 5 and the number it lands on will be its quality. The other stat taken into consideration is the Pokemon's rarity, its species. A rather common Pokemon like Spearow won't give as much points as a Pokemon like Froakie would give much more. However, with quality, a Spearow could beat out a Froakie.

Contestant Prizes:

Prizes will be given out to the top three contestants, as well as a consolation prize to those who don't make the top three. All participants get to keep the Pokemon they caught. The first place contestant may choose to get a Snag Emblem or additional Snag Coins apart from the normal prize.

1st place prize: 15 Snag Coins and one Snag Emblem OR 25 Snag Coins!

2nd place prize: 15 Snag Coins

3rd place prize: 10 Snag Coins

All participants who did not place receive 5 Snag Coins as a consolation prize as well as their captured Pokemon. Snag Coins can be spent in the Snag Mall.

Also, if you use a Pokemon that's not fully evolved that Pokemon will earn Evolution Points/Happiness Points at the end of the contest depending on how many Pokemon it knocked out. For Evolution Points your Pokemon gains 0.50 points for first stage (Caterpie), 0.60 points for second stage (Metapod), 0.70 points for base (Tauros), and 0.80 points for third stage (Butterfree). For Happiness Points you must battle at least five Pokemon to gain one happiness point, including a successful capture. If not catching anything then it's seven battles. You can also gain Purification Points in the same way as Evolution Points. Don't worry, the Safari Zone is protected by an Immunizer so no virus spreading here! Evolution/Purification Points will be rounded up at the end and we ask you post how many points you accrued in your final post. Bonus points (Evolution, Purification, or Happiness Points) will be rewarded to all participants at the end based on how much effort and content went into your posts. You may lose points if your battles were one liners or just in general lacked any effort.

And that's it! Get out there and have fun!

[Special Bonus]

Roll the same number two times in any area (total, does not have to be consecutive) and discover a fossil in that area! Fossil will not count towards your capture (meaning you can get a fossil and capture something). Only one fossil can be found per area (first come, first serve). If you do not want a fossil you may find a Star Piece or Nugget instead. The following fossils are found in the following areas:

Oasis: Old Amber, Skull, Armor

Outer Desert: Jaw, Sail, Plume

Inner Lake: Dome, Helix, Root, Cover, Claw

With a bit of convincing from certain individuals within Snagem, Wren found himself pressed to join a Safari Contest taking place in a desert setting, near an oasis. Despite his normal desire to keep Hemlock and Aconite with him at all times, he'd been convinced to only bring Hyacinth along for this one. She was the only one of his Pokemon who currently evolved from purely experience that hadn't fully evolved as of yet, after all, so this would be a good experience for her.

Figuring it couldn't hurt, he'd allowed himself to be talked into it. Stepping into the burning sands surrounding the oasis, itself, his bare feet felt the familiarity of home for the first time in a while. "Alright... I might as well see what happens..." He told himself as he began to walk, a certain Flabébé sitting on his shoulder and laughing at the way his dreadlocks were pulled up with one wound around the rest to hold them up and off his neck in the heat.

As Wren walked through the surprisingly lush greenery of the oasis' underbrush, he heard a yelp from beneath his foot. "Liop!" The source of the sound remained unseen but he recognized it.

"Oh no..." Helioptile weren't an uncommon sight around the desert, after all. Unfortunately for the channeler, the question wasn't what was it but rather, was this one vengeful?

The answer came quickly enough when a weak pulse of electrical energy suddenly pulsated through his right leg, numbing it up to his knee and causing him to lose his balance and topple over into the sand. "Hyacinth! Get ready for a fight!" He warned his minuscule Fairy-type. Hyacinth prepared herself by Wishing for her to win the coming battle. It was just in time, too, as another weak pulse of electrical energy surged up from the sand, a Shock Wave pulsing outward and striking at her despite her small stature.

"Petal Blizzard! Blow the sand away with it and make it show itself!" Wren called out, covering his face with one of his arms. Hyacinth nodded and aimed her flower at the ground, whereupon a blast of flower petals and wind erupted from the fairy flower, the pinkened twister ripping away the sand from the area immediately under and around the Flabébé. The sharpened flower petals within cut and tore at Helioptile's scales as it was uncovered, causing the Electric-type to scurry a short distance away. The Generator Pokemon, already agitated by being stepped on while sunbathing, was now also terrified of it's attackers. Turning to face them, it fired off a Thunderbolt before fleeing.

"Are you sure about this?" Keiko asked, holding the three Safari Balls alloted to them.

"Yeah. I can always get Psychic-types elsewhere," I shrugged. "I still have two Pokeballs."

Keiko frowned, knowing that she ran out of Heal Balls recently. "Okay. if I wind up catching a Psychic-type, though, I'm giving it to you."

I shrugged as she entered the contest and let Azure, her Azurill, out of her ball.

While Azure was riding between Keiko's ears as her trainer walked through the oasis, a Sparrow dive-bombed her from above with Peck, causing her to fall into the grass. Sparrow landed on a rock and cawed at her.

"Don't take that lip from him!" Keiko shouted. "Or beak. Whatever, Bubblebeam!" Azure leaped up from laying position and sprayed bubbles ferociously at Spearow, she struggled against the beam before taking to the skies again. After a moment of drying his feathers in the wings, Spearow lunged down at Azure - with Aerial Ace, this time.

"Give him a taste of his own medicine! Bounce, Azure!" Keiko ordered Azure happily bounced off of the ground, soaring above Spearow's Aerial Ace before slamming her Flying-type energy-infused tail into his face. Spearow, displeased with Azure's gall in defying him, pecked her repeatedly with Drill Peck.

"Put him in his place, Azure! Hit him with Ice Beam!" Keiko yelled. Hearing the name of that move put Spearow in a panic, and he flew off, flapping his wings frantically to dodge Azure's Ice Beam.

"Come on, Azure," Keiko huffed, putting Azure back on her head. "Let's go see if we can find a Pokemon worth our time."

Before Wren or Hyacinth made it very far, a sickly sweet scent caught their nostrils. Hyacinth caught the smell of Roseli Berries and gravitated toward the smell, hovering slowly but surely toward it without hesitation. Wren, on the other hand, was smelling vanilla Castelia Cones. "How are they all the way out here?!" He asked himself as he followed after Hyacinth.

It didn't take the pair long before they found themselves circling what appeared to be some kind of maintenance system for the safari zone. "This is weird. Why does this thing smell amazing?" Wren asked Hyacinth as she floated down to investigate better. The moment she alighted upon the plush red surface of the thing, however, she would regret the decision. The Carnivine Ingrained upon the machine snapped shut with a mighty Crunch to crush and devour it's prey.

"Hyacinth!" Wren exclaimed as the Sweet Scent's spell wore off and he snapped back to his senses. The burning pink light of her Dazzling Gleam from within Carnivine's maw, however, revealed that the Flabébé was safe and sound inside, if covered somewhat in flytrap drool. Carnivine's mouth snapped back open again as the light burned it's tender mouth flesh, allowing Hyacinth to escape.

Utilizing Growth in an effort to make itself bigger and, therefore increase it's chances of recovering it's prey, Carnivine swelled in size as it soaked up the nutrients from it's Ingrain and put them to good use.

"Hyacinth, use Dazzling Gleam again!" Wren called out, intending to have his partner rely heavily upon the only attack he knew she had that would really be effective against the opposing Grass-type. Hyacinth shook her tiny head before her eyes lit up and she glared at Carniving, blasting it with a strong Psychic. The Grass-type was bombarded by the psionic energy but refused to give in. "I didn't know you knew that move..." Wren realized in spite of himself.

Hyacinth shook her head and pointed at her flower, then at the ground, wondering how the man thought she used it to float. "Huh... I guess I thought you used magic or something..." Wren responded, now very embarrassed.

Deciding to try and slow it's prey down a bit before attempting to feed upon it again, Carnivine open it's mouth and, from within the massive maw, a burst of neurotoxic pollen exploded from the Bug Catcher Pokemon's gullet via Stun Spore. Hyacinth was unable to escape it thanks to it's size but, luckily, her Wish from a bit before finally came back to bless her, it's healing energy recovering the damage she'd taken from Carnivine's earlier Crunch about that time.

"Heal Bell, Hyacinth!" The Single Bloom Pokemon nodded and swung her flower beneath her, a chiming sound echoing across the immediate area and healing the status conditions of every human and Pokemon alike that heard it. Wren was thankful for it, realizing that, despite the Thunder Wave from Helioptile having worn off for the most part, his leg has still felt like it was asleep until now, when the feeling faded away entirely.

Tired of this game of reacting to on another, Carnivine decided it was time to stop playing with it's food. Lashing out with a Vine Whip, it attempted to ensnare Hyacinth and drag her toward it's mouth. "Fight back with your own vines!" Wren encouraged his partner as she swung her flower and a whip of vines snapped out of it to entangle Carnivine's own vine whips. When she successfully snared them Wren called out to her. "Hold it tight, Hyacinth! I'm gonna try to catch it!"

Pulling a Safari Ball from his pocket, where he'd placed the ones he'd been given for the contest, he threw the ball at Carnivine and hoped for the best.

Ulla and Leon were standing in front of the gate of the main area. "Have fun in there." Ulla was a little startled by her brother's remark as she looked at him. "You don't want to enter instead?" "And expend energy on a contest that's not required? Ulla, what's my motto?" He said blankly without even looking at her as he was picking his ear. She pouted. "....You don't do anything you don't have to. If you have to, you'll do it quickly." He then patted her head and pushed her on her way. "I'll wait for you out here."

Ulla entered the area as she popped out her MInior, Minior looked around frightened as it floated back over to Ulla terrified. "It's okay Minior. This is just a contest. It's a Safari zone, the trainer with the better caught Pokemon will win a prize. This will be fun! Now let's go looking." Minior was hesitant but then nodded as they were on their way.

Tristen made his way off into the Oasis, once again with Litten by his side. After being humiliated by a Meinfoo, Tristen felt that it was high time for a bit of redemption...in some fashion anyways. A child's mind at work. The boy would go on in with a fresh stash of Pokeballs at the ready to get to work and maybe, as a bonus, get some needed training for his Litten. "Ready to go, Litten?" The boy asked. He wouldn't get an answer. Tristen looked back behind him, seeing Litten cleaning himself, not really giving a care.

...typical cat.

After waiting on the Litten to finish grooming himself, Tristen sighed then made the cat follow along and start traversing the lush Oasis. It was a different place, to say the least. It wasn't barren, at least, which was a nice change of place. Between the volcanic ashy area and the depths of a cave, this...was actually nice. Probably a good vacation spot.

The boy then heard something then crept along, moving among some bushes, and looked on. There was a Numel there. Seeing it made the boy remember what this thing is...and what it could be capable of. Nothing that he want to risk the well being of Litten for now. He'd leave this Pokemon alone for now and continue on.

Keiko and Azure continued walking around the oasis looking for Pokemon. Soon, Keiko came across a beautiful green tree with a single berry When she went to pick the berry, however, it grew a face. "Bonusweet!"

"Awwwwwh!" Keiko swooned over the adorable berry Pokemon. "Look how cute it is, Azure!"

Apparently, Bonusweet didn't take to being called cute, because it summoned leaves and attacked Azure with Razor Leaf. Keiko wasn't discouraged, though. "You want me to catch you, huh, cutie? Azure, weaken it with Bounce!"

Azurill happily leaped up into the air and coated her body in Flying-type energy before slamming it down at Bonusweet, who was surprisingly not expecting to be attacked.

"I said weaken it!" Keiko whined, thinking Bonusweet had fainted from that attack. She picked up Bonusweet to make sure it was okay only to get a Rapid Spin for her trouble.

"Ow! Ugh, still got a little energy left in you, huh?" Keiko grunted before throwing a Safari Ball at Bonusweet.
