What is their name?
Amelia Cross

What coven are they from?
Ekon

How old are they?
512

What is their gender?
Female

What race do they classify as?
Vampire

What is their occupation?
Ekon

What is their personality like?
Despite her great age, Amelia has not lost touch with her humanitarian side. While performing her duties as an Ekon she often goes out of her way to protect innocent civilians who have ended up in the offending vampires crosshairs. She genuinely wants to make the world a safer place for both the natural and supernatural alike. She is a focused and determined individual who rarely gives up. She's intelligent, curious and good at problem-solving. Life as a vampire, and more importantly as an Ekon has made her relatively reclusive over the years. Other than the interactions required to perform her duties, Amelia keeps to herself, pushing those who try to get close away and being careful not to divulge personal information. Personal attachments are a detriment to an Ekon. If one were to get to know her though, they would find a pretty friendly and optimistic individual.

What are they capable of?
As a fourth generation vampire, Amelia has great speed, strength and enhanced senses beyond most of the kind, as well as the ability to heal her wounds. Amelia possesses the disciplines of Obtenebration, Animalism and Quintus. Obtenbration is arguably the ability Amelia has the greatest mastery over, shaping the shadows around her to create anything she puts her mind to, including weapons, and armour, teleporting from shadow to shadow, and occasionally making a shadowy doppelganger. Amelia primarily uses her animalism to communicate and in some cases control animals. By communicating, sharing in their memories and melding minds with them, they prove effective spies which she can use to track down rogue vampires and uphold the Blood Edict. It is only in desperation that she would force an animal to attack someone. Quietus is arguably her least developed skill since she tends to go for the quick kill using her mastery of shadows over the slow poisoning of blood that Quietus provides. Most commonly she uses it gain memories from blood and cleanses others of mental and emotional control.

What is their backstory?

Amelia was born in 1506, though she was always more suited to the modern day. Her father, William Cross, was a well-respected physician and her mother, Elizabeth, was a housewife like all woman of the time. Naturally, she did charity work and social functions as they were wealthy enough to afford a couple of servants. Even from a young age, Amelia was always more interested in her father's work than the teachings of her mother, much to both the woman's frustrations. As she entered into adulthood, and her mother fussed over finding a suitor for their eldest child, William began to behave strangely. Working longer hours than he ever had before, making sure there was a cross in every room in the house, and his office and becoming paranoid, though he wouldn't say what it was he was afraid of. It was late at night, when Amelia brought a meal to her father's office, that she learnt why. He was positively frantic, demanding she leave. Not just her, and not just his office, but to wake up her mother and siblings and leave the city. Tonight. Amelia tried to calm her father down and figure out what was going on, though all she got in return was 'no time' and he'd explain later. Then he was there. In the room. His teeth in her father's throat. It all happened so fast. Without thinking she grabbed the candle holder off William's desk and attempted to smash the male's head with it. He all too easily knocked her to the floor with a backhand. He dropped William lifeless to the floor and stalked towards Amelia. Terrified, she fixed him with defiant eyes as he loomed over her. Then he did the unexpected. He cut his own wrist open with a knife. Crimson ran down his forearm in sharp contrast to his pale skin. He kelt on one knee beside her grabbed her hair and pulled her head back. She fought violently, but he hardly seemed to notice as he forced his slashed wrist to her lips. "Drink."

The first several centuries of being a vampire was a very turbulent and troublesome time. Amelia was forced to leave her family behind, under threat that her maker would do to them what he had done to her father. It was an uneasy relationship. She hated him for killing her father, and for what he had done to her, but she needed him if she was going to survive. He taught her how to be a vampire. How to avoid the light, how to feed, use her new powers and how to avoid discovery. Obtenbration quickly became her favoured ability, especially the use of shadowstep, though she found a certain enjoyment in communicating with the wildlife around. Quintus was....useful, but she found most of the abilities distasteful. She eventually learned William Cross had discovered the undead during his work as a physician. He had gotten too close and needed to be silenced. She would never learn why Johnathan had chosen to turn her, or why he so painstakingly tried to ensure her survival. There was so much fighting back then. Vampires vying for Dracula's favour. The other supernatural races trying to strike them down. There were no covens and only rule. Don't piss off Dracula. She was aware of the politicking back then. Johnathan was working on the Blood Edicts with a few other vampires. A set of rules to guide the lost children of Dracula, though Amelia was largely shielded from the infighting. Then Dracula went to war.

Eleven years Amelia had been a vampire, yet The Great Purge in 1537 was the first time she killed outside of the need to feed, or self-defence. It was long, bloody, and she took no pleasure in the killing, Vampires she knew and were friends with parishes in the fighting. But there was something a bit thrilling about unleashing her full abilities. And it offered Amelia something she never had in a world dominated by men. The ability to make a name for herself. One that wasn't attached to Johnathan. By now Amelia was so consumed by vampire affairs her life as a human and her former family was all but forgotten. The war finally ended in 1540, but Dracula needed a force to maintain the order he had carved out of chaos. She was among those plucked from his surviving ranks to form a new Coven. Two of those men would become especially important in her life. Nathaniel and Saxon. As the trio worked together she began to develop strong feelings for both of them, for different reasons, but she loved both of them equally strongly. She knew she would never be able to choose between them. Finally, it all came out and it turned out neither Nathaniel or Saxon minded. It was all so scandalous and went against everything she had been taught growing up, but then so did surviving off of the blood of others. The years they spent as a thrupple were arguably the happiest of her life. Unfortunately, it wouldn't last as one member became jealous of the other two.

The year was 1605 and the dynamic duo that was Nathaniel and Amelia had caught wind of a foul plot. That same year, ten years before his disappearance, Dracula had begun making moves to take over the English government. James VI and I had organized a meeting in the House of Lords and Dracula was going to subjugate the man he had already Dominated many of the other officials he would need and they were to be at the meeting as well. All of the pieces of his puzzle were falling into place but The Dead Vampire Society was at work to stop him. They organized a gunpowder plot using religious fanatics with the intention of killing Dracula and his minions. Amelia caught wind of the plot and Nathaniel helped her find the conspirator beneath the House of Lords guarding the barrels of gunpowder meant to wipe Dracula off the earth. They were intent on killing the man but the police that Nathaniel- who expected a much larger fight- had called were already arriving. Nathaniel dominated the man so that he would not run and then did a little post-production work to ensure vampires were never mentioned. Dracula's plan worked and vampires have held heavy sway in England ever since. Dracula was grateful and rewarded the two with land. A small island for Nathaniel and a castle in Scotland for Amelia. Saxon was less than pleased about these events. After a bitter argument with Amelia over how she had gone to Nathaniel for help and not him, he hatched a plan, though she would only find out about it after it was too late.

Life seemingly continued as normal... or as normal as it could be for an Ekon in a thrupple. A few months slipped by until she was summoned by Dracula. Nathaniel had broken the Blood Edict and attracted the attention of the humans. Amelia was gobsmacked. Shocked and angry, she found it difficult to believe, yet she knew it must be true. Saxon wouldn't lie about something like that. She wasn't sure if she had it in her to kill Nathaniel, as was her job, but she did want to confront him about why he had broken the edict he had defended in the past. Not only defended but helped create. They hunted him through the city, Amelia's animals guiding the way. She had the feeling he wasn't trying to escape, but lead them somewhere. A suspicious she kept to herself. Still, there was no choice but to follow. Down into the sewers, they went and down into the sewers, everything came undone. Nathaniel accused Saxon of betrayal. Enraged Saxon attack him. Amelia watched in horror as the two men she loved fought, uncertain of who to believe or what to do. She had her orders from Dracula. Saxon bested Nathanial in the end, but Saxon didn't move to bring Nathanial before Dracula. Instead Saxon moved to break an Edict by consuming Nathanial's soul. Amelia was left with no choice. She couldn't subdue Saxon, nor could she let was about to happen happen. It was with great pain and sorrow that she stabbed Saxon through the heart while he was distracted with Nathanial.

Things were different after that night. They tried to carry on as they had before, but Nathanial was changed. He became withdrawn, pushing Amelia out of his life. It seemed Saxon got what he wanted in the end, for eventually Amelia could no longer bare Nathanial pushing her away and decided to part ways with him.

Her life has been eventful since those early days, if not quite so dramatic. Using the castle and surrounding lands Dracula gifted her as a source of income, she invested any extra money she had into buying other properties, meaning money isn't much of a concern for Amelia. She's had a handful of relationships since her time with Nathanial, though none of them lasted long. At first, she blamed her life as an Ekon, travelling the world and hunting those who broke the rules. Eventually, she realized Saxon's betrayal hadn't just left its mark on Nathanial. Some of the more notable mysteries Amelia has been involved in are as follows.

Jack The Ripper - 1891
The Franklin Expedition 1846-1848
Mothman -1966-1967
Tunguska Explosion - 1908
Zodiac Killer - 1960

Is there anything else we need to know?
She still cares for Nathanial and worries about him, even if she no longer wishes to be in a relationship with him.
