Rhianth's flight had been a whirlwind, D'cimus had been outside the weyr enjoying the rain and had managed to catch a weyrless dragonrider for the night. Literally caught as well, having picked the young woman up and carried her off.

Fianth's flight had been a bit more calmer for him at least. He had stayed in his weyr and only came out to sit beside Amroth to watch the flight. The fact there was a certain icy blue among the trailing browns and bronzes was not a strange sight. Amroth's clutchsib, Krahsujunth, had always chased after Fianth, often getting into fights with Yisketh over it. The two males carried scars from one another, though there had been one thing that perked D'cimus interest when his blue mentioned it, Yisketh was not chasing. He knew there had been a falling out between the two but, he was sure that the bronze would have still chased when she rose.

That had been a couple of days now and D'cimus was still mulling over it some, worry etched upon the hard lines of his face. He was worried about K'ienn, he knew the man wouldn't show it easily but he had been happy with Olliah and been together for quite a long time. It was why he was making his way towards his friends Weyr, pausing to knock on the door before announcing himself.

"K'ienn...It's D'cimus."

When Fianth rose, nearly every bronze and brown was in the sky after her. She was worthy and beautiful, the most desireable of all queens. It was an insult to refuse to chase such an exceptional queen, who deserved the finest mate to help carry on her legacy. But there was one particular bronze who had been far, far away when she rose.

Yisketh was inconsolable.

"You can't lie there forever," K'ienn said, pushing on his dragon's cheek for the dozenth time to try and nudge him into movement. The bronze rumbled a peevish growl, eyes whirling red until his rider stopped. The man knew his dragon blamed him for their absence during the flight. But K'ienn blamed someone else. Someone who must have known Fianth was soon to rise and wanted them out. Had it been a cruel game, or a test of loyalty? He almost didn't care. He, too, had lost the chance he'd been waiting for... for turns.

He left Yisketh on his couch, glad that the bronze had chosen to do his sulking inside, rather than outside on the ledge for all to see. Perhaps he'd have some klah sent up... ah, a knock on the door. He heard D'cimus' voice and felt his tense shoulders relax a little. If there was anyone who would understand, it was D'cimus.

"Come on in," he said, picking up a fallen wooden chair and setting it back upright, across the table from its match. It had felt good to kick it the moment they'd gotten home after their little trip, but the time for rage was past.

There was a moment, as he waited, that D'cimus wondered if K'ienn would turn him away. He wouldn't blame the man if he didn't want any company at all, especially since he knew about his friends feelings for Olliah. He could hear the man moving in his weyr so he wasn't surprised when the door was finally opened and they came face to face.

The larger man nodded his head at K'ienn as he followed him into the weyr, watching as his Wingleader and friend picked up an overturned chair. "Are you and Yisketh alright?" He had never been one to beat around the bush, always blunt when it came to his words. Concerned showed in his eyes even if it did not extend to the rest of him. "When Amroth mentioned Fianth had taken to the air with a trail of bronzes behind her...I expected to see a very familiar hide." He had been sure that Yisketh would have been there chasing and that he and Krahsujunth would have gotten into another fight in the air and yet, there had been no sight of him. Amroth had been torn between happiness at the sight of his blue clutchsibling and his golden love and his bronze brother who would be broken hearted. D'cimus, of course, had been worried that something may have happened to the pair to cause them not to be there.

"It's been a wild couple of seven days though." He shook his head some. "First Rhianth coming over and ending her flight here and then Fianth just a couple of days later. Two clutches? When's the last time there have been two clutches on the hatching sands?" He was trying to also divert the conversation into slightly happier territory already, even though he didn't know what K'ienn's words to his first question was going to be.

K'ienn barked a sharp laugh in response to that first. He slumped in the chair he'd just picked up and slammed his feet up onto the table. "We haven't been 'all right' in turns, D'cimus. We've just long since settled into our new equilibrium. It shouldn't surprise either of us by now that that fardling red star is always leering over my shoulder, ready to strike every time some good is about to come my way." Faranth, but he was still bitter over that flight. Yisketh hissed agreement loudly from his couch.

"I really thought--" He cut that off, and quickly so. He was honest with D'cimus like no other, but he had no desire to make himself that vulnerable. But what else could so strongly seal a blooming reconciliation as a shared goldflight? The chance might never come again. K'ienn sensed that his time was somehow running out.

His friend's attempted diversion was very welcome just then. "It hasn't happened at all in recent history. Certainly before our time." The sheer number of dragonets that would come from that pair of golds in a matter of months was comforting. They were both strong, and had flown well. Fianth's flight in particular was said to have been especially powerful.

Again, K'ienn had to edit his own thoughts, steering them away from that particular topic. "I suspect there will be a good number of browns and bronzes, and I'd be surprised if there isn't a gold apiece for the queens. What do you think?"

His rough and scared face didn't show any emotion when K'ienn laughed. It never had ceased to amaze D'cimus how easily the other male could wear a mask and hide what he was truly feeling. He had only been able to see the cracks that formed from knowing him for so long and being close, though even then he knew there were things that K'ienn would never open up to him about. Hearing him break off his thought had the larger man tilt his head some, wondering just how K'ienn was going to finish that.

Had he thought that everything would go back to normal after a couple of turns of separation? Whatever it was, D'cimus wasn't going to prod or try to make his friend and wingleader open up to him. if K'ienn ever wanted to speak to him about it, he knew he would.

"Even with the Red Star hanging over your shoulder it isn't the end of the world." His broad shoulders shrugged some as he finally moved to sit in the chair opposite. "She still isn't with anyone, though you seem interested in another."

Going back to the talk of the double clutch D'cimus couldn't help but let a rare smile part his lips. "It will be interesting to see. That many eggs on the sands, two Queens worried for their children? At least it is Fianth who Rhianth will be sharing the sands with." There was sure to be chaos, there always seemed to be even with a normal clutch laid just by one queen.

"With the stock that both Fianth and Rhianth come from I'm sure we will have a Queen egg and bronzes hatching as well. It will be interesting to see what Rhianth produces. Her mate is a brown after all." It had certainly piqued his interest, not to mention the fact that Amroth shared that Krahsujunth would be on the sands alongside Fianth. "Are you hoping Falienn impresses this time?"

K’ienn was done with one particular subject for this conversation. He was glad that D’cimus continued on to talk about eggs again. “Yes, we’re certainly lucky Fianth will be there to mediate, but it’s V’rind’s blue that concerns me. I wonder if he shouldn’t even be allowed on the sands, but knowing Krahsujunth… it’s probably safer to let him do as he pleases.”

At the mention of his son, a keen light entered the man’s eyes. Whether it was a positive light or negative was… unclear. “Of course I hope he Impresses. It’d be the best thing that ever happened to him. If a dragonbond and V’mel together can’t make a good man out of him, then nothing will.” He paused in thought for a moment, swapping out the foot that had been on the bottom to cross over the other where they rested atop the table. “I wanted him on bronze, but now I’m all but certain it’d be too much for his ego to handle. Maybe a solid, dutiful brown could ground him. Wingsecond is an admirable enough position, if he ever develops any ambition to move up.”
