[PRP] Win some, lose some (Keris/Argoth)

High Reaches had certainly been abuzz with life as of late. Not one but two queens rising within the span of a sevenday? Certainly she had picked the best of the Weyrs to relocate to. While she had all but given up on her own impression, knowing she was bringing a kid into a Weyr so productive and churning dragons out so readily? It was a bit of a comfort. Keris had watched from the opening as Fianth and her entourage had launched--and a familiar brown had been among them. It had been a little while since she had last seen her favorite dragon (or his rider, for that matter). This pregnancy had been determined to knock her flat on her backside from the get-go. The littlest smells could send her into waves of morning sickness, even the warm spice of dragon hide.

But turning a corner into her fourth month had come with relief, for scents weren’t as hyper sharp. Some things that had sent her scrambling for a bucket now had settled back down--thank Faranth for that. Truth be told, she quite looked forward to seeing Argoth--especially after coming up empty-clawed at another flight. Losing not once but twice. (For she had been.. fairly certain Argoth had risen after Rhianth. Her staying on top of going-ons had lessened when she couldn’t stay around rumor mills like the lower caverns) It wasn’t easy on the mind or heart, and certainly not that sweet brown’s hearts that tried and tried. Keris certainly knew what a disappointment it was to try over and over with little success, after all.

With a mind to see Argoth, and to possibly offer comfort, she gathers her oil canteen and made her way to Ulix’ personal weyr. Carica flutters alongside her, not quite sure if she had wanted to quite join or find some unsuspecting fool to charm with the grace of a spoiled queen. Keris doesn’t even stop to knock, only to gently fuss with the loose dress that blended the beginning swells of life, flattered her healthy glow to a way that suited her. She slipped into the personal weyr, not bothering to quite look around to see if her baby’s sire was there as she traced the familiar path out to see that handsome dragon. “Argoth, my dear. I’ve missed you.”

Argoth was a terrible, lachrymose mess after any flight he didn't win, but gold flights especially made him mournful, as if he would never have a chance again. But this time had been especially biting to the brown, not only because he had sung his hearts out, but because he had sworn there had been a connection building between him and Fianth. He had been so close...! But no, in the end she had chosen some no-weyr bronze who probably wouldn't even stick around, and he wasn't even particularly handsome, and maybe Ulix's bias against the causeless dragonriders was leaking in, but it should have been him and it wasn't and--damn it!!

He loved HisUlix, but the hunter was not what he wanted right now; in fact, he seemed quite busy still dealing with the brusque woman from the Gold Flight. Good. What he wanted was a more feminine touch, a soft hand that knew how to massage his aching muscles and listen to him moan and howl with a sympathetic ear without trying to fix his problems. So instead of touching off the ledge to savage a herdbeast and eat his woes away, pain be damned, he slithered up to Keris once he heard her footsteps echoing in the lodge.

Sweetest Keris, Argoth crooned, his eyes still tinged grey even as a happy blue whirled. He took care not to bump his snout against her too hard, his nostrils flaring as he caught the scent of her oil. He made a hoarse chuffing sound; his throat was still sore. Thank Faranth you're back. It's been horrible without you. Are you staying long?
