Cleaning in the Bowl was a good thing to get some fresh air and a chance to get some sunlight on his normally very pale skin, though he was in the process of burning given he'd opened up the front of his shirt as he was sweating in the waning heat of Summer. Where Mint had been snuggled into his shoulders for the longest time, he had eventually sweat her off by accident as he swept and picked up random debris that had been gathering from training and drills that the Weyrlings had been going through. Actually that was the other great thing about being out in the Bowl cleaning, he got to watch the growing baby dragons that were working hard to become the next great fighters of Thread that would save Holders and everyone on Pern that couldn't protect themselves from it. It filled Rizdax with joy to know that thanks to these new dragons there wouldn't be another hold decimated by Thread, there wouldn't be another person kept awake at night by nightmares of it raining down and killing all those around them, all those important.

But it hadn't exactly been fast enough for himself, so he would have to work his hardest even when he was extremely exhausted, even when he had those nightmares. Mint was getting him through those nights though, and the help from the mindhealer named Nimueh and her great brown Mharlith had gotten him to a place where he wasn't getting sick at night any longer, even if they'd been working at it slowly so he wasn't overwhelmed. Rizdax really enjoyed getting to see the big brown dragon and the way that he got to lean up against him from time to time, it made him far more comfortable to be even going to those sessions. It made it easier for him to breath and the nights after he went to see them he actually slept for quite a few hours before he woke up. Only time would tell how much better he would get. But until then he could clean and watch the weyrlings and smile, content to see them working hard and happy to know that it was only a matter of time before they took their places in the ranks.

Flipping the broom around expertly, spinning it in place over his arm, Riz put the top of the handle on the ground and leaned on it so that he could watch them as they took off on their dragons to glide about the bowl, it made him grin to see all of them out there. There were two egg heavy queens that were ready to clutch on the sands any time now, maybe in the future he would be joining them, gliding through the air on the back of a dragon that knew him in and out. It was his dream, to pay back High reaches, to fight Thread and burn it from the sky, to be connected to a being that knew him in and out.

Actually that last part was more horrifying that he was willing to admit, since Riz knew that there was a lot of him that a dragon would find wanting, especially after his talk with Nimueh. But he was working on it, one way or another he would find a way to stay at High Reaches and help, even if he daydreamed of dragons every time he was out cleaning and working through his duties, through his classes. A bugle made him look upward as a handful of dragons arrived, possibly from a flight drill or from a sweep. It felt good to be putting his classwork to good use finally as he stood back up straight again and began to sweep once more, keeping all the dragons in the Bowl in his peripheral as he did so.

The Weyr was massive. It felt like the lamest summize she could bring herself to, but Cavera couldn’t quite help it. Telgar had been big, Smithcrafthall enormous until threadfall had devastated the area. When she had left, there had been progress over the past few turns. Some growth, rebuilding what thread had decimated. Yet there was nothing that could have prepared Cavera for the sight that was the massiveness of High Reaches Weyr. K’tan’s handsome blue had been her first experience with a dragon close up, but seeing all these massive dragons tear through the sky at a closer range than just seeing dragon formations in the sky? It left her imagination paling in comparison to all the tales she had grown up with. Her first glance at Eveleth had her near unable to move, nevermind the sights of the gravid and lovely Rhianth and Fianth.

Never once had she doubted her choice to jump at a chance to come to a Weyr, nevermind something as prestigious as High Reaches Weyr. So much tradition lived and breathed in the large walls that she felt like a small fish in the wide ocean. But she’s here to do her part, learn all she can, and stand on the sands oh-so very soon for a double clutch!

The nibbling doubt that a dragon would want someone like her is a biting thought she chooses to ignore today. For if she wasn’t in any capability of possibly finding a dragon, Saimizth wouldn’t have chosen her out of the crowd.

That.. That’s a thought she also ignores, if she hadn’t been chosen.

But she was! And any time she caught a glimpse of the big blue rider, Cavera was a bit drawn to K’tan.

But today, she was dashing off back to the barracks. Her chores done for now, she was eager to go work on her next piece. Something subtle and intricate for her search rider -- if just to say thank you to him. Still in the sketching phase, she wanted so badly to get it right -- to get it done before those eggs cracked, hopefully before they were even laid!

Her gaze was drawn to the soaring dragons overhead as they announced their arrival, watching their large forms come in closer for a landing. For such large forms, being so majestic in the air was wonderful to sit and watch. Unfortunately, Cavera isn’t quite sitting-- or watching where she was walking. She near bowls into another person, the squeak tumbling out of her as she tries to stop them both from tumbling onto the hard ground. “Oh--! Oh no, I’m so sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going. Oh no, oh no…”

A large blue dragon flew over and drew the golden eyed vision of the redheaded candidate that was sweeping and though he kept up the action Rizdax couldn't help but watch those strong wings cut a path across the Bowl so confidently. It was everything that he dreamed, to ride a dragon. Even though he was still sweeping all he was succeeding in doing was dusting off the tops of his boots gently as he watched the dragon and his rider fly from one side to another, landing smoothly on a weyrledge as if it were the easiest thing in the world. Once they were up there the pair were out of sight, so he turned back to the weyrlings flying in the bowl and shook his head suddenly. Honestly, he was going to get in trouble if he took too long to do his chores, though he tended to make up for that by working overtime on his days off and really any time he wasn't in class or eating or visiting the mindhealer.

Attention turned back towards his work, the short candidate didn't see the risk that was coming to his form until it was too late to do anything even if he'd seen her coming. Broom falling to the side Riz grabbed at the girl who had nearly hit him, one leg kicking back so he could hold the both of them up if he had to. Though his body might not have been full grown, or even close to those of his own age, the redhead could at least be considered strong and was getting more so now that he was starting to be able to sleep and eat again, so he had no problem stopping the trajectory towards the ground. "Whooooa... wait just a second there!" Riz growled, trying not to sound as shocked as he was but he couldn't wring out the laughter that he might have if he'd been in a better state of mind.

"Easy... easy on your feet there." he twisted his voice to be just a tad calmer as the girl was finally still and not still moving, it was just an accident after all. No matter what he did he still had that prickly layer he had always had, well... not always. It had gotten worse after... Forcing his throat clear, Riz tilted his head to look at her carefully and make sure she hadn't hurt an ankle or something in the collision, even if it hadn't been all that hard. The once over was much the same that he'd have given one of his younger siblings turns back, or maybe a weyrbrat that had been running outside the creche and fallen over, eyes a bit wider than normal as he wanted to make sure she really was fine. "You're in a rush to be looking up at the dragons flying over the Bowl and keep walking. But this is a good place if you want to watch them."

Trying to plaster a grin on his tired face, bloodshot gold eyes crinkling with the slight one that he managed as if to show he wasn't trying to be as gruff as the tone of his voice had indicated at first. "Are you new here, just Searched I mean?" Her face seemed familiar but for some reason he couldn't place it, as if it were back beyond some sort of veil that he couldn't see past. A face... a name...

"You're.... are you..." Confusion filled his voice as he stared at her face, smile falling off his own in his attempts to figure out where he knew her from and failing. "From Telgar?" It came out so quiet he almost couldn't hear it himself, but there was pain and awe there just thinking that there might be another from his home.
