Kuroi really doesn't understand what the notes are talking about but it is clear to her what the subject matter is. The owner of these research notes was conducting experiments with devils. Her knowledge of rituals also tells her that the notes are talking about some sort of grandiose resurrection ritual. It is clear to her that the information in this book was used to create whatever was going on with her people and the devil in the back of the Mindflayer citadel. The secret to how the stop ,or even reverse, the ritual must lie in here, but more time is needed to fully understand the magic behind the ritual.

Ruin Struggles to take in all the information on the pages in the giant tome. There are literally hundreds of pages of notes taken over years of study. However he does figure out that the notes are in chronological order and the information he seeks about the ritual must be towards the end of the tome. As he flips through the pages he does gleam something. The majority of the ritual seems to take place in a pocket dimension created specifically for the ritual as a conduit for the souls. However, what this means exactly will require further research into the pages.

The sounds of battle from outside have almost completely died down the fighting outside must be drawing to a close. Novi notices something else as well. The air in the room was beginning feel hotter and in through the dim torchlight she could see smoke was coming in through cracks in the ceiling.

Ruin continues to study... What's a wee bit of fire to a tiefling?

Novi looks at the big book. "We can probably carry that out. if we work together. Better than burning alive in here. We find a place to read, maybe find Maukine."

Kuori nods, but keeps reading over Ruin's shoulder.

As Ruin pours over the tome as fast and thoroughly as he can, finally, something caches his eye. One of the pages goes over in great detail the pocket dimension that the devil lord is being created in. There is a way to access this dimension. The ritual to do this is laid out further down on the page. Though Ruin can tell the general concept of the ritual he can tell he lacks the skill to actually cast it. What's more, it appears the ritual will need at least two ritual casters to perform the exceedingly complex ritual ritual correctly. Though only way to harm the devil at this state appears to in this way.

By this point the rest of the party can smell the smoke in the darkened room, the air also begins to feel hotter.

"Alright, let us go." Ruin would say tearing the needed ritual pages out of the book and rolling them up for ease of transport. "Women and Goliaths first."

"Tally ho!" Kuori starts up the stairs Novi behind her, spear at the ready.

With the sharp tug to page would give way from the giant book with a loud tear. With the page safely in Ruin’s possession the party makes it up the long flight of stairs to the previous library room. From the missing wall it was plain to see the fire had completely surrounded the base of the tower and was creeping up its sides were it found material to burn. Smoke billowed in from the stairway to the entrance and the room was beginning to get unbearably hot to anyone without fire resistance. It was clear. For the party to escape the tower, they would have to find some way to brave the fire and protect there precious page from getting burned.

((This is sort of skill challenge backed up with your rp. You need to find a way to get through the fire surrounding the base of tower before it overcomes the place. As a reminder you are in a room filled with books as well as some ritual tomes. In the back there is the strange magical device for speeding up and empowering rituals. The secret laboratory is filled with cauldrons and glass containers filled with questionable liquids and preserved demonic specimens. The stairway down to the ground level is accessible but the way out is covered in fire, partially fueled by the corpses of the guards now on fire. Alright! Everyone do your best and let me see what you come up with! You can also use any of your powers that you fill would be useful in this situation and roll any skill checks you feel could be relevant.))

Despite wanting to tell the three to find a way for themselves, Ruin knew Kuori wouldn't listen... Instead he would turn on his heels and run back downstairs and look for a glass jar big enough to safely house the page.

Given the copious amount of containers laying about the laboratory, it does not take Ruin long find a glass jar long enough to fit the page. It might not be as perfect of a fit as he would have like, but it was enough to get the job done and time was of the essence.

Sealing the jar as best as he could, he would proceed to run back up the stairs, and out the door to Pierette's stone garden. If safe to do so, There he would check on the page and wait on his Goliath friends... Who didn't get the memo, women and goliaths first... They are coming... Right?

Novi watches Ruin, Valac, and Kuori. Anticipating their needs, he hands Ruin the jar, then heads up and starts looking for the best way out.

Kuori focuses on finding resources to clear out a part of the fire to make a safe egress.  

[Kowsauni]

Ruin runs through the fire! He feels the heat, but his natural fiendish resistance prevent him from obtaining any serious injury. Once he get to the other side of the pool of fire he find the contents of his glass jar intact, if a little crispier.

The goliaths however, do not have such a dubious birthright to protect themselves from the flames and must find a less direct route. Obviously books will do nothing to protect from the fire so Kuori and Novi head back to the only other place with recourses, the laboratory. Kuori uses her knowledge of nature to determine which glasses and containers contain mostly water like substances as oppose to more dubious chemicals. Perhaps these could be thrown at the fire to clear a path out of the entrance?
