He ran. He ran as fast and as far as he could. His heart pounded in his chest. His mind raced with all the different scenarios that could be played out. What if they caught up to him? What would he do then? There was nothing he could do. Nothing that didn’t involve fighting. He didn’t want to fight. He wanted to make friends. That’s what started this whole mess in the first place. All Tyranno wanted to do was help them with their task. They sounded as if they needed someone strong to lift the logs forming a dam across the river. Simple enough. Except he should’ve known better. Should’ve realized that his clumsy self couldn’t do a task as easy as lifting a log. Sure, he could lift it. That had been quick enough to do. The problem came when his foot slipped as he turned to plant the heavy object elsewhere. Into the water it went, which drove him off balance. Subsequently, he flailed about, sending the rather large log flying back onto its peers. Okay, no big deal, right? Wrong. Of course, the impact had created too much strain on the dam. A loud creaking groan emanated from them. Before anyone could blink, the dam burst apart to release all the water built up behind. That in and of itself wouldn’t have been too much of an issue, except for the fact that there lay a tiny village at the bottom of the hill upon which the dam had been laid. Tyranno’s heart sank at the sight of the water flooding over the structure. Bits and pieces were torn away as it flowed over. He could count it fortunate that the villagers were at the top of the hill when the disaster struck. However, that did not calm his tormented soul. Their cries and screams filled his ears even now. Their sharp claws and harsh words stabbed at his very soul. Thus, he fled. Fled away from the raccoon village and its devastated visitors.
How far he had come, he didn’t know. Tyranno hadn’t paid a single bit of attention to where he was heading. All he could focus on was getting away. Keeping himself far away from others. I really should’ve known better, he wailed in his mind. Tears prickled at the corners of his eyes. I shouldn’t have offered to help. It never goes the way I planned it. More tears welled, forcing the others to stream down his cheeks. His vision blurred from the wetness. His thoughts still on the angry raccoons. He failed to notice the moment his claws started racing on sand instead of grass. With his eyes closed, he couldn’t see the instant he entered the desert realm of the Kawani lands. Even the heat was not enough to indicate his arrival into a new area. No, he was too caught up in his failures. Too saddened by the destruction his clumsiness had caused. No one would want to be his friend. Why was it that his best intentions only ever brought trouble?
