Gold Mictecath
Written by Uta
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: Given how the film Coco is based on Dia de los Muertos, Mictecath's name is based on the Lady of the Dead. In Aztec mythology, Mictēcacihuātl is Queen of Mictlan, the underworld. She rules over the afterlife with her husband, another deity, known as Mictlantecuhtli.

She watches over the bones of the dead and presides over the ancient and contemporary festivals of the dead. These festivals evolved from Aztec traditions into the modern Day of the Dead after synthesis with Spanish traditions.

Inspiration: Remember Me - Coco

Personality: Mictecath is all about family. In fact, this little golden darling will find no greater joy than when she is surrounded by her clutchsibs, her mother, father, and uncle. In fact, this gold will never outgrow wanting to cuddle up with her parents, or checking in with them. She is their baby, after all, and she will never be too big or too old for them! When her family is separated or apart from her, you can bet Mictecath will be there to reach out and check in on them, to ensure they are well, or just to send them a wave of love and affection. She is never too busy for family and will happily cozy up to her clutchsibs and rider to talk about their day, their ups, their downs, and their lives. She will celebrate their joys, and be there for them during the hard times. If she can't fix their woes for them, physically or emotionally, she will have no problem going to her mother or grandmother to get advice, or comfort and reassurance if it's not something anyone can easily fix. Like a good shepherd, this gold is nothing but faithful to family -- and those she considers family -- provided they are good to her and her rider.

Certainly, this queen is nothing if not loving. She has big hearts, and is eager to share her love. She is physically affectionate, and has no problem showing her fondness. Nuzzling, cuddling, touching -- this queen loves to be close to her loved ones. Just as she enjoys cuddling beneath her parents wings, as she grows, she will also enjoy keeping her smaller siblings safe by her side. Love shouldn't be hidden -- it should be freely given and freely displayed, and Mictecath will never shy away from such a thing.

Unfortunately, her fussing, her doting, her affectionate ways can often lead her to unknowingly smother those in her care. She doesn't seem to understand boundaries. Love, attention, and fussing is all well and good -- but Mictecath is known to go a bit too far. Her rider will need to try to encourage the queen to find other outlets, or to give others space, lest her desire to help or care becomes a hindrance. Even with her rider's help, though, Mictecath will always be the sort of queen who will want to know everything about those she loves. She is the sort of queen who doesn't believe in keeping secrets, and if she finds out that someone has kept her out of the loop, you had better watch out that!

Furthermore, this particular queen is known to get a bit over-protective. If a friend, or clutchmate, or wingmate, or someone she cares about finds themselves in a bad position she will not hesitate to get involved. She will use her arsenal to right some wrong, or fix some problem. This can be used for good, certainly, but it can also cause problems if left unchecked. Just because one of her sisters is being picked on doesn't mean she needs to start a fight with the bullies. Just because her rider is being criticized doesn't mean she has to cause a public scene. She isn't afraid to push her weight - or color - around to get what she wants, and that sometimes means getting involved where her nose isn't needed or wanted; or shielding some of her friends from experiences they need. It also can result in her stirring up trouble where there otherwise wasn't any. A trusted wingmate venting to her might well result in the social ostracism of their source of pain, and if nothing else, Mictecath has no trouble going to her mother, father, or grandmother, to get what she needs! If one parent doesn't give her what she wants, she will not hesitate to go to the other to plead her case.

Rest assured, her rider will need to keep Mictecath from holding grudges. The queen can handle a slight against herself well enough -- provided it isn't something absolutely heart shattering -- but should someone turn upon her family or friends, watch out! This queen knows how to hold a grudge, and she will not hesitate to condemn and ostracize the sources of her, her rider, or her families, pain. Should her clutchsibs turn into terrors, she will drive them out! Should a stranger break her heart, she will not forgive them. Mictecath is the sort of dragon who can well be vindictive, and has no problem keeping a list of those she tries to ostracize. Once out of Mictecath's good graces, good luck finding a path back into her hearts.

Positive Traits: Maternal, Responsible, Demonstrative
Negative Traits: Overprotective, Smothering, Vindictive

Adult Size: 47'
Physical Attributes: Mictecath is an average sized gold, but is taller than some, and bonier in structure than some of the queens. As a hatchling she has long legs, which give her a gangly appearance; it isn't something she ever really grows out of, but that doesn't bother her any! Her long limbs allow her to have a swift gait while on the ground. Her neck and tail are long and thin, which makes up most of her length. Once she's in the air, Mictecath makes a lovely sight to see.

Additional Notes: This queen will also have love to give in droves -- she is the sort of gold who won't settle down easily or quickly. Not because she's a heartbreaker, but because she loves freely, openly, and has no desire for her hearts to be chained down. Like her granddam Eveleth, as she grows, she will well enjoy having an entourage of lovers and dragons who might wish to seek her favor.

Additionally, Mictecath will never outgrow snuggling up beneath the wings of her mother and father. She will never be too big for them, and will always be their baby.

Theme Song: Remember Me by Shakira Jasmine
Egg: A small pale blue egg with what looks like a musical note near the center of the clutch. It is curious and wants you to draw near!

Why Me? Nyaranau is a perfect match for Mictecath. To start, this queen is a dragon who is absolutely, positively, oozing with affection and love. Her rider will find herself wrapped up and buoyed by it, and she will never have to fear being alone again. No matter where she goes, no matter whether she fails or succeeds, she will always have Mictecath by her side and with her. Mictecath is a queen who loves her family and is close to her parents and clutchsibs; every relationship Mictecath makes her rider will inherit. Furthermore, Mictecath knows how much Nyaranau enjoys the spotlight--with a queen by her side, she will now have as much attention and flattery poured upon her as she likes! She's a gold rider of High Reaches Weyr now, and likely to be given all the attention she might wish to have.

Nyaranau, for her part, will be strong enough to keep this queen in line.
Where Mictecath can be vindictive, the woman's good humor and joy might be the very balm she needs. Additionally, the woman might well be able to distract the gold from the worst of her darker moods. If nothing else, the two might understand one another, as this queen is known to hold a long grudge, as well. Nyaranau's self-absorption will be evenly balanced by this gold, and perhaps at times tested. Mictecath is often so focused on others (especially her family) that her rider will have no choice but have to think of others by proxy. As a junior weyrwoman of High Reaches Weyr, she will find out that there is much more to being a goldrider than the glamourous lifestyle of all the Harper's tales. As a junior weyrwoman, she will find out quickly that she is there to serve.

Bronze Valseth
Written by Uta
Colored by -_Wish of Tevarae_-

User Image

Origin of Name: Once Upon a Dream was a song written in 1959 for the animated musical fantasy film Sleeping Beauty. It is based on Tchaikovsky's ballet of the same name, more specifically the piece "Grande valse villageoise" aka The Garland Waltz . Valseth's name is taken from the original Tchaikovsky Waltz name.

Inspiration: Once Upon a Dream - Sleeping Beauty.

This song is the theme of Princess Aurora and Prince Philipe. Mary Costa and Bill Shirley, who were cast in the roles of Princess Aurora and Prince Philip, performed the song as a duet. Since then, it has had a few covers, most notably, by Lana Del Rey.

Sleeping Beauty was the 16th Animated Film, and was released on January 29th. It is based on the classic fairy tale which involves a beautiful princess, a sleeping enchantment, and a handsome prince. The tale was originally written by Charles Perrault. The version collected by the Brothers Grimm was an orally transmitted version of the original literary tale published by Perrault in Histoires ou contes du temps passé in 1697. This in turn was based on Sun, Moon, and Talia by Italian poet Giambattista Basile (published posthumously in 1634), which was in turn based on one or more folk tales. The earliest known version of the story is found in the narrative Perceforest, composed between 1330 and 1344.

Personality: The first thing you'll learn about Valseth is that he wants to be a hero. He wants to champion the weak; he wants to stand up for those who cannot stand up for themselves; he wants to protect those who need protection; he wants to be the firm, unwavering, pillar of strength that Pern needs. If you need a hero, you can bet this bronze will be at your side the moment you call his name.... at least, that's what he dreams of doing.

Daydreaming comes easy for the bronze. He wants to be a hero. He wants Harpers to sing his praises. He wants peace on Pern, peace in the Weyrs, and a world without trouble -- but he also tends to be more of a daydreamer than a doer. His go-with-the-flow attitude tends to keep him less a bronze of action, and more a bronze of dreams. His imagination tends to go wild, which can mean he misses a cue or command from someone higher up. His rider will need to try to keep him on task, especially during weyrling training, and during the less heroic or flashy drills.

Ah, but Valseth can do good, especially when there is trouble looming immediately before him. When faced with a foe or enemy or someone who is genuinely and clearly in need, the good news is that bravery runs deep in this bronze's blood. Might for right, as far as this bronze is concerned -- and unlike some of his clutchmates, he would never think of using his position of power or rank to his advantage. He wants to rise to any challenge given him, and in many cases, especially as he grows, he will.

Valseth is not a temperamental or crabby dragon, and tends to be very calm and collected, even during the difficult times. Getting upset, or panicking, isn't in his nature -- but neither is sneering, brutalizng, or hurting others -- even those that might deserve such condemnation. He might not like bad people, or oppressive situations, but he also isn't the sort of bronze who will sneer at someone for having a differing view. He's too good-hearted for that. He will stand his ground, but he isn't the sort of bronze to become self-righteous. He understands that there are many different ideas out there, and not all of them are right, but that said, not all of them are wrong, either.

Generally speaking, though, Valseth is a more progressive bronze. He has no objection over a gold loving a blue, or women riding browns. It's the 10th pass, after all -- he feels that though traditions have place, it doesn't mean that new ideas, and new views, couldn't be considered. While he is loyal to his family and High Reaches Weyr, he also is a very non-judgmental bronze. Unlike some of his clutchsiblings, he finds new ideas interesting; and even if they don't necessarily work or aren't accepted, it doesn't mean he won't voice them. Open-mindedness is one of his qualities, and there are very few who will find strong judgment from him.

Ah, but for all these good traits, he is not without his flaws. Valseth is known to be an easy-going dragon -- in fact, too easy-going. Though he is brave and heroic when push comes to shove, or cornered, the bronze's good nature often causes him to forgive or forget too quickly, or to keep him from rising up. In most cases he tends to go with the flow, and doesn't often cause waves. While he will not hesitate to rise up when Thread falls, or help defend a clutchmate who is being picked on, Valseth also isn't the sort who is going to rise up and lead a revolution. He may not like what some of his clutchmates do, and he will stop them when they go too far, but he also isn't going to condemn more conservative or traditional ideas just because they go against his own views. While he might not approve of a more conservative approach, or he might not like or trust someone, he is the sort who tends to go along with a scenario until action must be taken. Second and third chances are freely given by this bronze, who tends to believe that goodness will prevail in even the darkest hearts or most difficult hours.

Lastly, Valseth can sometimes be a bit manipulative. He is sweet, and certainly tries to do good -- but he isn't against using bribery to get what he wants, or talking circles around someone until they inadvertently agree to get his way. Unlike some of his clutchmates, this isn't a trait Valseth even seems well aware of. Why shouldn't he try to compromise with someone into getting his way? He isn't against trying to persuade someone to see things his way, however he can manage it.

Positive Traits: Heroic, Good-Natured, Progressive
Negative Traits: Daydreamer, Too Easy-Going, Manipulative

Adult Size: 39'
Physical Attributes: Valseth is on the smaller side of average for a bronze, but looks to have cut a traditional bronze figure. He might be small, but he is well muscled, and has near perfect proportions. He's nimble both while on the ground, and in the air, and is a bit of a sky dancer when he is on wing. He will take to flight like a fish takes to water, and has no problem showing off while in the air.

Additional Notes: Valseth is a romantic. He's the sort of bronze who would search for his one-true-love -- but color or even gender wouldn't stand in his way. While he is kind and courteous to all, in his heart-of-hearts, he is looking for the one he has dreamed of! Green or gold, blue, brown, or even fellow bronze, he isn't picky -- but he will not settle until he finds The One. Until then, he will keep dreaming.

Theme Song: Once Upon a Dream Nightcore Mix Cover by Prankster59 also by Lana Del Rey

Egg: A medium sized lavender egg with paler feline-like spots seems to be lost among a dream.

Why Me? There couldn't have been a better match for Valseth than gentle hearted Sulamol. Both rider and dragon have dreams of playing the role of a hero. Both rider and dragon want nothing more than to do good by the world, and to become something great. Where Valseth tends more to dream about this, his beloved Sulamol will have enough drive and action to actually get them there!

On the other side, Valseth's easy-going and good-nature will be a balm when Sulamol find's himself affected by great emotion, or great temper. He's passive enough that he might be able to keep Sulamol from crossing a line as a weyrling or dragonrider; where he may have once had good reason to use force, it's different now that he's a rider. Should Sulamol's protectiveness turn into a possible violent response, this bronze will be there to keep him in check. Additionally, as Valseth is clever, he will not tolerate anyone taking advantage of HIS rider. Oh, so the bronze might periodically try a bit of bribery to get his rider to see things his way, but that's different! Sulamol is HIS and Valseth won't let anyone step on him or push him around again.

Together, there is no doubt that these two have the possibility of making a great name for themselves among those of High Reaches Weyr.

Bronze Izdubath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Mr Cheri

User Image

Origin of Name: Izdubath is taken from the mistranslated word Izdubar, which properly should be Gilgamesh. When the tablets containing the Epic of Gilgamesh were originally discovered, the iconograph for Gilgamesh was translated phonetically to Izdubar, which led to the printing of the tale of Ishtar and Izdubar, which would later come to be known as the Epic of Gilgamesh, in which the Babylonian/Mesopotamian goddess Inanna (Ishtar) featured chiefly. Like Hercules, Gilgamesh was a man of great strength - unlike Gilgamesh, Hercules eventually did overcome his relatively humble roots as a demigod and ascend to full godhood.

Inspiration: Go The Distance - Hercules

Based on the ancient myth surrounding Heracles/Hercle/Hercules, Disney's Hercules saw significant deviations from the original. Although there are strong similarities, Disney chose to enshrine the relationship between Hera and Zeus, which as most people know was fractured at best. Perhaps in order to present the picture of a healthy American family, Hercules is presented as the son of Zeus, the chief God of Olympus, who held domain over Lightning and Thunder, and his wife Hera, goddess of Marriage and childbirth.

There are common elements seen, such as Hercules's victory over the serpent in his infancy, which theme gave rise to Alexander the Great's linkage with the god Zeus. However, Disney's Hercules is a story not of a hero, but of a boy who would one day become a man. Uncertain of his place in the world, Hercules longs for nothing more than to find somewhere to belong. His great strength proves to be his undoing time and time again, and when at last he puts it to use as a hero-in-training, he is found to excel.

At his core, Hercules desires nothing more than to prove to his divine family and the people around him that he is worthy. This motivation stands quite apart from the legendary Hercules, whose mythological origins stem from Etruscan Hercle. In Etruscan, Greek, and Roman mythology, Hercules is the son of Zeus and a mortal woman. It is his great prowess in battle, and in hand to hand combat, his ability to accomplish epic tasks, that lead to his ascent to godhood. Disney's Hercules saw this struggle, but was at his core divine in nature, never truly fitting in with the mortal crowd.

Personality: Eager from his first moment out of the shell to prove himself, Izdubath has been on a consistent journey to try to show the world that he is the hero that they can depend upon. He wants nothing more than to be loved and admired. To be cheered. He has difficulty finding his place, and sees such accolades and adulation as the best evidence that he truly does belong. He is a brave soul, and will suffer much to give his all. Nothing would make him happier than hearing that his parents are proud of him.

He will rise to the occasion when called upon, almost too swiftly. Tireless in his desire to prove himself, he is in danger of pushing too far and too hard. It will be up to his rider to rein him in, for Izdubath truly does not know his own limits. The Bronze does not believe for a moment that his color signifies any particular worthiness, but rather his actions. If he can but show Pern that he is ready to take on the problems of the world, perhaps then he might have a place within the ranks.

In his hearts he is vulnerable to harsh and unkind words. He wears his hearts on his hide, where anyone might cut at them. As a genuinely sweet boy, he will take such words and lashes too personally, retreating into himself in woe should another not approve of him. Although he is strong, he is lacking in corresponding self-esteem, and will need much reassurance as he grows into the hero that he is capable of becoming.

When in love, he is likely to be clumsy. He does not have a smooth way with words, but rather tends to attempt to demonstrate his emotions via actions. Surely the other might enjoy a brace of wherries? He caught them in the wilds, and they are - oh, they are not good enough? Well. He will... he will go and get more. Get something else. Try as he might to show his affections, he is not the most suave of dragons, and may find himself running back to Mama for advice and support.

Positive Traits: Brave, Strong, Determined
Negative Traits: Clumsy, Low Self-Esteem, Sensitive

Adult Size: 46'
Physical Attributes: Fully as large as is possible for a Bronze, Izdubath also possesses phenomenal strength and an impressive wingspan. He has greater girth than any of his clutchsiblings, and does not particularly notice this trait. He is a handsome Bronze with tremendous stamina.

Additional Notes: Izdubath has many siblings that he admires. Even some among them that might not be obvious choices are truly quite astonishing to the Bronze, who adores their great characteristics. He loves his mother terribly, and looks up to his Blue Papa. He is likely to fall in love with any color of dragon, for it is their hearts which he will love most of all.

Theme Song: Go the Distance covered by Caleb Hyles
Egg:

Why Me? Damon and Izdubath have a lot in common! From their mutual heroic tendencies to their overeager natures, they definitely make quite a pair. Izdubath is not quite as smooth as Damon, nor quite so smart, but his hearts are noble and good. They also happen to be truly sensitive, and it is Damon's protectiveness which will save his bronze from being flattened by utter heartbreak. They're both quite reckless, which might cause them some trouble, as impulsively leaping in the way of danger can, as Izdubath has learned, lead to serious consequences, but if they can settle down a bit they'll make splendid members of any wing.

Bronze Bossuth
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: Bossuth originates from the French Le Bossu, by which the original hunchback of Notre Dame was known. When the Hunchback of Notre Dame was written, there was a hunchbacked stone carver working on Notre Dame, circa the 1820s. Although the character was not named for Le Bossu, it is very likely that it is from this man that Quasimodo was inspired.

Inspiration: Heaven's Light - Hunchback of Notre Dame

Heaven's Light, written from the perspective of the hunchback Quasimodo, is an ode of love to the fair Esmeralda, as well as a song of sorrow for the love that will never be Quasimodo's. There is a piercing sweetness to the tune, a sort of bittersweet quality that borders on the worshipful. Never once in the song is there any indication that Quasimodo believes himself worthy of any such love as he observes between pairs on the streets of Paris.

Personality: If Bossuth were down to his very last wherry, he would give it away in a heartbeat if someone else needed it. He would throw himself in the way of any thread that might hurt another, be that other none too deserving or not. He has a tremendous love for his fellows, and that spills over into everything that he does. In the egg, he was nearly suffocated by his brother, Alquemieth, relegated to a tiny portion of their shared shell. But he loved his brother just as deeply, no matter the personal hardship that such a position put him in.

In fact, he is blind, oftentimes, to the flaws of others. It is partially because he has such a caring nature that it would not occur to him that anyone might act out of anger of unkindness. The concept of evil is totally anathema to him, and he would sooner believe that Rukbat spun around Pern than to believe that any of his siblings might truly be wicked. He would do anything for them, and some among their number know that, and manipulate him accordingly.

There are brave, courageous hearts beating within Bossuth, and he works so very hard to be worthy of love. He wants nothing more than to have the deep love and devotion of another, but knows that he is... unworthy. That he is not as beautiful as many others, and that perhaps he is not as powerful, or as strong. Perhaps that might deign to notice him all the same, be he ever so lucky.

Sometimes the world grows to be too much for little Bossuth, and he must hide himself away, as though he is curling into that tiny corner of egg. He is a little agoraphobic, although he also yearns deeply for the freedom to go out there and fly among his brothers and sisters in the Weyr! Yet sometimes his weyr ledge is the safest of all places, and he will happily go tuck away there in his wallow with his rider. He is... a bit jealous of those who find things come easily to them, especially love, but his big hearts will still be fond of them, all the same.

Positive Traits: Giving, Courageous, Self-Sacrificing, Loving
Negative Traits: Self-loathing, Downtrodden, Evasive, Envious

Adult Size: 36'
Physical Attributes: Bossuth has a kinked tail from where his brother stepped on and broke his tail in the egg. He also has small headknobs. Although he is a smaller Bronze, his chest and shoulders are very broad, and his legs short for his size.

Additional Notes: He is the twin brother of Alquemieth, and has both a great fear for him, and a deep love and devotion toward him. He adores his mother, Fianth, and has had a strong bond with her from the egg.

He wants nothing more than to be loved, deeply and truly.

Theme Song: Heaven's Light, the Hunchback of Notre Dame Musical
Egg: White & Red Egg

Why Me? Rizdax and Bossuth share many things in common, from their sweet and gentle natures to the assumptions others make about them. Rizdax is a good and loving boy, patient with his siblings in a way that Bossuth has never experienced. Yet others assume him to be an angry, fierce young man. Bossuth has stood in his brother's shadow from the very first - Alquemieth in fact took up the vast majority of their shared egg. Only Rizdax could truly understand and love Bossuth as he deserves to be loved. For his part, Bossuth's gentle and kind soul will be a balm to Rizdax, who is painfully lacking in good things in his life.

Bronze Alquemieth
Written by Uta
Colored by Uta

User Image

Origin of Name: Alquemieth's name pays homage to the book The Hunchback of Notre Dame. In it, Claude Frollo is actually highly interested by alchemy, and is looked upon as some sort of sorcerer. Alquemieth comes from the etymology of alchemy. The word itself comes from Old French alquemie, alkimie, used in Medieval Latin as alchymia. This name was itself brought from the Arabic word al-kimya. Together, this association can be interpreted as 'the process of transmutation by which to fuse or reunite with the divine or original form'.

Inspiration: Hellfire - Hunchback of Notre Dame

Personality: Alquemieth is righteous bronze. He is a dragon who has a very black and white view of the world and the good and evil within it. On the one hand, there is no doubting the goodness that motivates the bronze. He is the sort of dragon who well could be a hero, and in many cases, can and will do good. He is a bronze among bronzes, and he believes fully in the law of the land, and the instincts of dragonkind run thick in his blood. He is the sort of bronze who will grow up striving to fight Thread, and to save Pern from the great Enemy, and can be very stern in keeping the heirarchy of the Weyr. He knows he was born to rise up in the ranks, and to have his praises lauded by Harpers; he knows he was hatched at High Reaches so he could best save Pern and do the most good. He can do more for Pern and the Weyr as a bronze than if he were any other color.

But Alquemieth is also an unforgiving, and judgmental bronze. There is no wiggle room for this dragon, no areas of grey. He rules with a heavy hand, and believes well that he and his rider are better than just about anyone -- including his fellow bornzes. He is the sort of bronze who believes that rules are not meant to be broken, and those who do break them, will be caught, and judged accordingly -- you can bet, Alquemieth is the sort to rat out anyone who does wrong in his eyes, or makes choices that do not line up with his views and opinions. He will not tolerate insubordination, especially as he ages. Give him or his rider any power, and he might well use it to enforce his vision of how the Weyr should work. He is a dogmatic bronze, and believes that his views are not only right, but should be followed without question. Anyone who does not share his view, or who falls short of his beliefs, is not worth his time. He is the sort of bronze who isn't just traditional, but who believes entirely that dragonriders are the saviors of Pern, their colors equating to their merit and worth, and will not argue, bend, or give in, to any other opinion.

Of course, Alquemieth's strict beliefs don't come from a place of darkness; this bronze does have light within him. He feels these things because he truly believes that it is the right way. To keep the Weyr from falling into chaos, to keep his wingmates safe, to keep Pern thriving, they should do as the always have done, and stick to the natural order. He reveres golds as something flawless and untouchable. They are the Queens, and he nothing but their humble servant. To his mother, in particular, he treats reverently -- even with her choice of blue mate, he will not question her choice. But he might well question how Krah was so favored. Queens can do no wrong in his eyes... but everyone else, they are nothing but flawed creatures, and Alquemieth is certain he is the purest of them all. Bronzes are treated cordially -- those who rank him are given respect, if not perhaps a bit of disdain. Browns are looked down upon, and any blue or green who thinks their opinion actually matters is deluding themselves. And whites? Well. They are freaks of nature, and likely better off to have never hatched at all.

Strong beliefs aside, though he might quarrel with some of the more progressive dragons in High Reaches, Alquemieth isn't all bad. He is a clever dragon, who is careful in the battles he chooses to fight. He knows when to push, and when to bide his time and hold his tongue. He is the sort of bronze who is careful, and isn't usually sloppy. While he might lord over Pern like he is already some Weyrleader, he is the sort of bronze who knows there is a finesse to getting what he wants, and if he plans on achieving power, that means sometimes keeping up the niceties. Besides which, he would never wish to distress or do wrong by his mother, or any of the queen's from on high.

Furthermore, he is a determined dragon. When he or his rider put their minds together, there is nothing they can't achieve. When Alquemieth wants something, he will not let failure stop him. Self-doubt? What is that? He is the sort of dragon who is determined to succeed, determined to have his rider's name known throughout Pern and to claw his way up through the ranks. He will do well during training, and will work hard for the betterment of the Wing, the Weyr, and Pern as a whole -- especially if his rider encourages such hard work. Though it may take time, Alquemieth knos the more power he earns, the better he can care for those beneath him -- and put a stop to the repulsive rabble that's currently infecting his home.

He is a handful, but with the right molding, and when pushed in the right direction, you can bet nothing will stop Alquemieth.

Except, maybe, a girl.

Though this side of him will not be noticed until closer to adulthood, Alquemieth will have an insatiable hunger within him. Duty, work, rising to the top, perfecting the Weyr... It's nothing compared to his desire for a pretty face. This bronze will find himself tempted to chase every dragon that rises, and lust will begin to consume him as he gets closer to maturity. He will find himself suddenly distracted from his work and his achievements by a dainty tail, or a flirty comment, and his rider will need to keep him on task. Once he figures out exactly what's going on, you can bet her will fight with himself, and despair over such feelings.

Unlike some bronzes, Alquemieth does not feel he is yet worthy to touch or taint the beauty golden hide of a queen.... and perhaps even worse, will find that he is absolutely besotted by the green dragons! Those he looks down upon, and finds nothing more than thread fodder; those he knows he is superior to will get under his skin in a way no gold could ever dare to do. Green dragons are his weakness, and he will likely despair and hate himself for it. He will yearn to find a true love among them, one to call his own, his most precious gem. This will both frustrate him and cause him even deeper allure and fascination. To any females he comes to truly love and care for, his desire will practically consume him, and he will become obsessive and jealous over what is rightfully his. He will fight his desire o fly until he can resist no more... and though he might chase a queen, his desire, love, and lust will always be for greens.

Positive Traits: Precise, Determined, Righteous
Negative Traits: Judgmental, Lustful, Dogmatic

Adult Size: 44'
Physical Attributes: Alquemieth is a larger sized bronze. He has large wings, longer than some, and is an excellent flier. Unlike some of the bulkier dragons of the Weyr, he is sleek and svelte. He is quick and fast, but his stamina might suffer during longer Threadfall's or during more strenuous tasks. His forked tail are particularly long, giving him a graceful appearance while on Wing.

Additional Notes: Alquemieth might lust over others, but he will also try to keep himself grounded. He wants to chase -- terribly so -- but unless his rider strongly encourages it, he will fight the urge. Queens are revered above him, and he knows he is not worthy. Greens should be beneath him and yet are his weakness. A distraction, a temptation.

His mother, Fianth, is revered above all. He would never shame her. She gave him life, and he will always revere here above all else.

Though he might treat his twin poorly sometimes, nevertheless there is some sort of attachment or devotion there. He looks down upon his bronze twin, and might be ashamed to have shared an egg with him... but he also enjoys having power over him. He will support him and will keep an eye on him. No one gets to bully or push him around except Alquemieth, thank you.

Theme Song: Hellfire cover by Jonathan Young
Egg: Red & White Mystery Egg

Why Me? Alquemieth is a particular bronze, and there was only one among them all that appealed to him on any level--Arcadin. To start, this bronze appreciates how the man isn't afraid to get his hands dirty for the greater good. It's something Alquemieth relates to whole heartedly. This duty-bound dragon knows his place, knows his position, and wants someone who he doesn't have to train, and someone who isn't going to fight the system. He wants someone who isn't afraid of doing what has to get done. They are better than those beneath them; better than man fools out there. Together, there is nothing they can't do.

Never again will Arcadin need to feel like he is nothing but a tool; no, for this bronze will not allow either of them to be used. What he will allow is for them to take their place as an instrument of great use. Alquemieth is not a particularly ambitious bronze, especially as he sees himself far beneath the golden beuaties of the Weyr. He is too flawed a creature for such glory to look upon him or truly cherish him. That said, he will strive for greatness in other ways; serving the Weyr, serving the queens, and ensuring everyone beneath them stays in their proper place. Duty will always come first. Where Arcadin was once dutiful as a healer, he now will become the Weyrs most dutiful rider.

Arcadin may have darker thoughts and a fierce temper, this bronze is too precise and determined to let it get the best of his rider. No, he will be there to soothe, re-direct, or at least take the brunt of his riders anger and will be the one between them to keep a cool head. With Alquemieth at his side, the boy need never feel alone again or fear abandonment in any fashion. He is the one being on Pern that Arcadin can't, and will never be able to keep out. Who needs friends when Alquemieth possesses his heart?

On the flip side, Arcadin has enough willpower and practicality to keep his bronze in line, or at least, to keep him sensible. When his bronze starts to panic, or feel as if he is somehow failing, there is no doubt this man will be able to talk some sense into him. When Alquemieth goes too far for the greater good, there is an opportunity for Arcadin to at least stay his hand, should the rider feel the need to intervene. Rest assured, there is goodness in both their hearts, even if it's difficult for others to see. In the end there is no doubt they are one another's kept secret.

Brown Venandith
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by stella cinere

User Image

Origin of Name: Venandith, from the Latin venandi, meaning Hunter. A reference to Gaston's process as a hunter and the various trophies that adorn his walls. Venandi is a conjugation of the word vēnor, meaning to chase, hunt, pursue. The word may be used figuratively as well as literally, as in to seek after something, as in poetry.

Inspiration: Gaston - Beauty and the Beast

The titular character, Gaston, did not exist in the original telling of the story, Beauty and the Beast. He was created for the Disney film because the studio felt that the story was lacking a strong villain. The tale of the Beast ultimately changing his ways out of love for Belle was clearly not compelling enough for Disney, who pitted Gaston against the Beast to heighten the drama. However, his creator, Linda Woolverton, based the character of Gaston on some of her ex-boyfriends. We can only wonder at the types of men that she must have dated, as Gaston is supremely lacking in finer qualities and overflowing with arrogant masculine stereotypes.

Personality: Basically a hero, Venandith is amazing. And don't think that he won't tell you all about it. No, come around and look at him from his better side - oh wait, all of his sides are his best side. This brown is full of opinions... mainly about how awesome he is. Now, see, if he were in charge of the Weyr, they'd have far fewer problems, because Venandith is also an exceptional statesman, don't you know. On the other hand, he'd far prefer being out there fighting Thread so that all the ladies and gentlemen swooned over his theatrical heroics.

He is extremely picky when it comes to choosing his long term company. Short term liaisons he'll have aplenty, and happily so! But when it comes to deciding who to spend the rest of his Turns with, this fellow is inclined to be very particular. After all, the One will have to be a match for his glorious self, and that is a task in and of itself. He's the picture of pure masculine beauty and shall sweep all of Pern off their feet before he's finished with them.

One point of contention with the current leadership is his belief that women have a certain place - that place happens to be back at the Weyr clutching his babies. And he'll have six or seven dozen of them - fine strapping young dragons like himself, of course. He does take great pride in showing himself to be an example among Browns. For that reason he'll be the first to volunteer for a dangerous mission. If there was a break in the line, he'd be right there, ready and willing to go right into the thick of things. But ooph, watch the face! There's only one like that in all of Pern.

If there is one thing to say of Venandith, it's that he's persistent. He will doggedly pursue a task to the bitter end, even if that means putting himself and his rider at terrible risk. He'd rather not, of course, but if something needs done, this is one dragon who will do it. After all, his adoring fans are watching, and he knows just how he can spend his time celebrating when he makes his triumphant return home. No doubt there will be someone waiting to toss him a choice wherry or herdbeast upon his return, and plenty of lovely tails to go around. Not that he's overly keen on sharing his beauties, thanks.

Positive Traits: Confident, Strong, Opinionated, Suave, Persistent
Negative Traits: Smug, Arrogant, Narcissistic, Vain, Womanizing (Manizing? Izing?)

Adult Size: 42' - if asked, Venandith will claim that he's 43'. Try measuring him again.
Physical Attributes: This brown is one strapping, handsome boy. He is full of muscles and hot air. He has large wings that catch the light just so if he wheels in the sky, and make no mistake, he certainly shall!

Additional Notes: There is no such thing as too much indulgence for this brown, for Venandith is of the opinion that he absolutely deserves a heroes welcome... every single time he returns from fighting Thread. He'll happily catch any colored dragon out there, not at all discerning about whether the swooning party is female or male. He'll take them all, thanks. One day he might decide to settle down, once he's sown all of his wild oats.

Theme Song: Gaston cover by Jonathan Young
Egg: Beer Batter Egg

Why Me? This Weyr ain't big enough for the both of us - oh wait, it's exactly the right size for Zyamel and Venandith. How perfect they'll be together! In his opinion, there is only she who is as beautiful as he - and so they must be dragon and rider! Still, it was her wit and wicked mind that drew him. Zyamel is a spitfire, and that appeals terribly to Venandith. So long, of course, as she turns that flame away from him and toward his enemies. Such as those are. He's not actually sure that he has any enemies. If she does, however, he's right there to let them know that, hey, they could be spending their time gazing at perfection, but instead they're wasting it chewing on their own livers in jealousy. Perhaps he and Zyamel can better redirect their attention and put it to good use.

Brown Andelath
Written by Uta
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Andelath is derived from the Latin candelabrum, from which the old French chandelier stems. Given it is a chandelier which sings the majority of this song, and that Lumiere was such an inspiring host, it is only fitting that he be honored in Andelath's name.

Inspiration: Andelath is based on the Be Our Guest for Disney's 30th animated filem, Beauty & the Beast. The song was written by Howard Ashman, the lyricist, and the music composed by Alan Menkan. It is a large scale, Broadway-inspired musical number, that was critically acclaimed as a showstopping number for it's catchy tune, and its unprecedented use of CGI. It is often considered one of Disney's most memorable songs.

Personality: Andelath is a small brown with a big personality! Sociable to the extreme, he is known to get along with any dragon, regardless of their temper, color, or size. From the smallest hatchling, to the most important dragons on Pern, Andelath has no trouble reaching out to talk to them, to check on them, to ensure they're having a great day! He loves getting to know new faces, and absolutely will do whatever he can to make them feel good!

Andelath is a helpful dragon. If there is something someone needs, you can bet this brown will be the first to help them obtain it! If they're too cold, he'll cuddle them to warm them up; if they're too hot, he'll suggest going to the beach, or will fan them with his wings. If they want to be left alone he will stand guard and ensure they are well left alone -- never mind that he'll probably talk their ear off the entire time. This brown is the definition of servant, and he does so with great cheer. If browns are known as being a support color, Andelath lives and breathes such a fate! He has no desire to move up the ladder -- he knows he's not a Wingleader, but he would happily be a Wingsecond! To serve his rider, his wing, his Weyr, is his greatest joy and life's mission.

Unfortunately, Andelath's welcoming nature, and desire to help, can easily lead to the brown coming off as pushy. He doesn't always entirely understand the concept of no -- if he can't help someone in one way, he will begin listing off other ways he can help. Even when a dragon pointedly tells him to leave, Andelath might do so, but ponder some way in which he can still be helpful! A surprise wherry left on their ledge, perhaps? He certainly doesn't mean to come off as pushy, and would be hurt if he was ever called out on it -- but he just so badly wants to do good he can drive others away.

Additionally, Andelath can be a bit over-the-top. From both his attitude and his creative ways of lending a helpful wing, this brown will quickly be melodramatic. Usually this is most often seen in how he contrives ways to help others; he is the sort of brown who spares no expense of energy, time, or his riders marks, to make others comfortable. If someone is looking glum, he'll find some way to make them laugh, even if it risks V'mel and Aviroth's wrath! Everything is a production for Andelath -- very little is done simply or minimalist. This also includes his moods -- when he does get hurt or upset or angry, rare as it might be, this brown is known to be dramatic. Throw himself off a ledge (only to catch himself) or to wail and keens, this brown knows how to make a dramatic and memorable exit. For even if he's in pain, he might at least entertain in the process.

Furthermore, his sociable and over-the-top nature means he can be a bit disruptive. He isn't afraid of making a scene, and relishes such moments. If someone wants one wherry, then surely they would want an entire flock brought right to their weyr, right? Or perhaps, if bored, he can choreograph all of his clutchsibs to do a draconic interpretation of Moreta? This dragon loves to plan and everything he does is done with over-the-top style and flair! Andelath isn't the sort of dragon who could ever be considered boring -- he's the sort of brown who is a one-man-broadway show! This does mean he will not hesitate to interrupt his higher ups with suggestions on how to add flash and pizzazz to a wingdrill; or even to do it himself. Glitter with the Threadfall training ropes, anyone? He can interrupt and disrupt not just his clutchsibs, or friends, but entire Wings, and in some cases the entire Weyr, so his rider had best try to keep his plans small lest they catch flack from the Weyrleaders!

Positive Traits: Sociable, Helpful, Welcoming
Negative Traits: Over-the-Top, Pushy, Disruptive

Adult Size: 31'
Physical Attributes: Andelath is very small for a brown, but that doesn't seem to stop him! Besides being petite in stature, he has lovely proportions. He's thin for a brown, but has large hands and feet. He was thought as a hatchling to grow up big if he grew into his feet, but that never materialized. This can make him a bit clumsy on the ground, and he's known to trip over his feet as a hatchling, but once he's in the air he flies with finess and flair!

Additional Notes: Andelath is the sort of dragon who loves to love. He doesn't seem to have any preference on gender or sex -- blues, browns, and bronzes will get as much attention as any green or gold. He will tend to have many lovers as he ages, though a rare few might be particularly welcome and special.

He also loves to eat. While he might not gorge himself, he's the sort of dragon who takes his time, savoring food, and gushing to his rider about how succulent every bite is. Wherries, herdbeasts, or things he steals from his riders plate, will all be delicious to him!

Theme Song: Be Our Guest by Jonathan Young
Egg: This medium sized yellow and white egg rests near the back, but exudes warmth and welcome.

Why Me? Rylyrr and Andelath fit one another like a glove--made of the finest silk, from the finest tailor on Pern. This dragon was immediately drawn to Rylyrr's hedonism--and his tall, handsome good looks! They would make quite a striking pair, no? If His wants to find pleasure in life, then you can bet Andelath will be there to help him find only the best-of-the-best. Often times life's greatest pleasures involve over-the-top extravagance, which is something he will always get behind! Given Rylyrr likes to have such finery in his life, you can bet this brown will be there to ensure he always goes through life with a bit of fanfare.

Rylyrr's patience will work well with this brown. Not only would others with less patience potentially grow frustrated by the daily song-and-dance his brown seems to display, but such patience might rub off on Andelath; a little calm, a little ability to wait, might well do him good and tone him down as needed. Additionally, where Andelath has no real drive to rise up in rank or power, it's possible that Rylyrr's competitive nature will give the brown something to focus on; you can bet whatever Rylyrr wants, Andelath will stop at nothing to get.

Additionally, Rylyrr's reckless behavior will be kept in check by Andelath's desire to serve. This brown isn't always a song-and-dance of support; he's also a bit of a nurturing mother hen, and he's not going to let his rider get into any scrapes that they can't get out of! Even though Rylyrr might be gunning for a dream, Andelath's going to make sure that he's at least smart about how he gets there. Together, these two are going to make a name of themselves one way or another--and it's going to be quite a show!

Brown Eskharath
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Eskarath is derived from the Ancient Greek eskhára, meaning "scar left over from a burn." It is from this word which the late Latin eschara is born, and ultimately the English scar stems. Although Eskharath is not directly based on Disney's Scar, there is a strong influence.

Inspiration: Be Prepared - The Lion King

Based on Shakespeare's Hamlet, the Lion King features a fabulous villain in the form of Scar. Hamlet's uncle was arguably far less scheming and intelligent than the Disney iteration. Scar has inspired an entire generation of young minds, making a strong impact on future villains. Elements of his flair can be seen in Disney's Dr. Facilier.

Always in his brother's shadow, the lanky, brilliant Scar doubtless received his signature scar when his brother Mufasa won the right to be King of Pride Rock. On a twist from normal lion relations, Mufasa allowed his brother to remain within the pride, to the extent that he expected his presence during the announcement of Simba's birth, and his presentation as heir to the throne.

The scheming Scar would ultimately fulfill the role of King Claudius, murdering his brother in such a way that his death is perceived by all to be a terrible accident, and Scar's claim a legitimate one. Although Disney's the Lion King was created long after Nazi Germany was defeated by the Allied Forces, there is the echo of fanaticism in the scene during which Scar declares his plan to murder his brother to his sycophantic hyenas.

Personality: There is nothing within Eskharath to indicate that he posses even a modicum of remorse or shame. Indeed, this Brown was made to seek after power, and will stop at nothing to climb to the very heights. No length is too great for Eskharath, and indeed if he were not a dragon, he would be inclined to simply murder the competition as necessary. However, since he is constrained by his draconic nature, he will settle for little deaths - the death of a rival's reputation, for example. And do not believe for a moment that he will not accomplish exactly that. He is a simply brilliant schemer, with the mind of a great tactician. It is rare that one of his plans falls through, but when one does, rest assured that he has another at the ready.

He has planned for every contingency. Inclined to obsess over details, it will indeed be rare for Eskharath to fail in his course. However, when he does fail, he reacts with anger and disbelief. How could his scheme fail? He is arrogant, believing himself to be better than any of his fellows, and knows his own worth. More, indeed, than any of his Bronze siblings. Even his golden sister will not stop him... although he would catch her in an insistent if it cemented his power.

With such a strong and indomitable will, it comes as a surprise that the Brown presents a meek and defeated front to others. Who indeed would assume that poor, skinny Eskharath possessed such strength of purpose? He is not the most handsome or physically arresting of dragons, but he is intensely charismatic. Most who hear the Brown believe that he means every word that he says. He says them so earnestly, after all. And if the lies he whispers into the right headknobs are found out, he will deny everything.

How, indeed, could anyone doubt his good intentions? He simply wants what is best for the Weyr. If, perhaps, his idea of "best" differs from that of others, well... that is simply their shortsightedness showing. If they could only see things from his perspective, well, they would surely understand. It is true that no dragon is truly evil, and so there is a core in Eskharath that is not so dark and grasping, which is his intense love for his rider. Although he will not likely bond tightly with anyone else, he adores his bondmate with a will that is perhaps too strong for the weak of heart. However, he is still determined to be the victor in that relationship.

Positive Traits: Ambitious, Scheming, Persuasive
Negative Traits: Oppressive, Lying, Vindictive

Adult Size: 34'
Physical Attributes: Ill favored yet somehow compelling, Eskharath is middling in size for a Brown, yet quite slender. He lacks the bulk of a number of his brothers, but still presents a commanding presence... when he is not playing at a lethargy he does not possess.

Additional Notes: Eskharath will likely chase any Queen to go up, however he will be particularly interested in catching the Weyrwoman's Gold. All of the others are practice for the big event. That being said, he prefers males on a personal level, and while he'll Chase females, they do not excite any emotion from him.

Theme Song: Be Prepared cover by Jonathan Young
Egg: This small blue egg looks like it's stained with blood. It is isolated and alone, and seems to prefer it.

Why Me? Though there were many Candidates upon the Sands, there was only one that was right for Eskharath -- Kellan. The The Bitran boy is nothing more than a kindred spirit and a way for him to achieve his loftier goals. Both rider and dragon are sly creatures and far too clever for their own good. While Eskharath thinks this means he'll have a competent ally in all his goals, it also means Kellan will be able to see through the others schemes and be trickier to manipulate and control than Eskharath may realize. Additionally, they both have rather muted moral codes; the dragon will do whatever he must to see his plans through, and Kellan has no trouble making deals for the right marks, or turning a blind eye when it suits him.

Eskharath will absolutely give Kellan the direction his life has been lacking. Kellen might have just enough conscious and willpower to keep the brown in line when needed. At the end of the day, he two want the same thing--Kellan a life of pleasure, Eskharath the power to run things the way he sees fit. Both dreams can be achieved by clawing their way to the top.

Brown Petrosinth
Written by Uta
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: Rapunzel" is a German fairy tale in the collection assembled by the Brothers Grimm, and first published in 1812 as part of Children's and Household Tales. The Grimm Brothers' story is an adaptation of the fairy tale Rapunzel by Friedrich Schulz published in 1790. The Schulz version is based on Persinette by Charlotte-Rose de Caumont de La Force originally published in 1698 which in turn was influenced by an even earlier Italian tale, Petrosinella by Giambattista Basile, published in 1634. Its plot has been used and parodied in various media and its best known line ("Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair" ) is an idiom of popular culture.

Petrosinella is a Neapolitan literary fairy tale, written by Giambattista Basile in his collection of fairy tales in 1634, Lo cunto de li cunti (The Story of Stories), or Pentamerone.

It is Aarne–Thompson type 310 The Maiden in the Tower, of which the best known variant is Rapunzel, and it is the earliest recorded variant of this tale known to exist.

Inspiration: I See The Light - Tangled.

"I See the Light" is a song written by composer Alan Menken and lyricist Glenn Slater for Walt Disney Animation Studios' 50th animated feature film Tangled. A duet originally recorded by American recording artist and actress Mandy Moore and American actor Zachary Levi in their respective film roles as main characters Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, the folk-inspired pop ballad serves as both the film's love and theme song. Lyrically, "I See the Light" describes the developing romantic relationship between Rapunzel and Flynn.

Personality: Petrosinth is the sort of brown who loves nothing more than a fabulous story. He's the sort of dragon who keeps his head in the clouds, and will happily cuddle up to any Harper he meets in hopes they might recite one of the great ballads. If he can't be part of a grand tale, then he will want nothing more than to listen to the stories, learn them, memorize them, and then recite them to anyone who will listen. Surely, while they are all grounded, they can dream of greatness beyond the Weyr's walls. A dreamer through and through, this brown will happily take any of his riders hopes and wishes and try his best to make them a reality. He encourages greatness from this friends, his clutchsibs, his wingmates, and will always encourage them to succeed. Why shouldn't they go out and claim their fame and fortune? Why shouldn't they shine?

Though he has a desire for adventure, to make his fortune, to find some claim-to-fame, Petrosinth is also the sort of dragon who is well aware of rules and expectations. A dream is harmless, and if his dream involves going against authority, you can bet this brown will back out of it. He is the sort of dragon who is blindly loyal, and will listen to those of power, rank, and authority without question. He knows he cannot leave the Weyr, knows he cannot shirk his duty of fighting Thread. He knows where he is bound, and though Petrosinth might dream of himself as some knight, in reality, he is the damsel in distress, held captive in a tower, and unable to break free. He would never think of himself that way, and fiercely deny it; but really, the brown is a slave to those in power. If given an order, he will follow it without question, whether it's right or wrong, so his rider will need to help ensure he isn't being taken advantage of or sent on some impossible task.

Even if he never follows or realizes his dreams, Petrosinth is a very spirited dragon. He has energy to spare, and will never outgrow his youthful spunk. If there are places to go, things to do, orders to follow, sweeps to fly, you can bet this dragon will be the first one to go. He doesn't know the definition of failure and his personality is such that he truly believes he will succeed, one way or another. There is no such thing as hopelessness for Petrosinth....

But life isn't all cut and dry, and sometimes there are unhappy endings. Sometimes he will get into a situation he can't get out of, or find his fellow clutchsibs and wingmates in trouble. When things go sour, or worse, he breaks a rule or goes outside of the strict hierarchy of rank and order, this brown becomes a bit of an emotional mess. He will worry, he will put himself down, he will fear the repercussions of his actions. His rider will need to help him through the rough moments of life, because Petrosinth doesn't always do well when outside his comfort zone.

Petrosinth is a bit naive about the world. If someone in power tells him something, he will believe it; he trusts too willingly, and believes that if someone's word is given ,they will make good on their promise. He is a brown who has a heart of gold, but can also easily be devastated when the world doesn't fit the picture he imagines. If someone, particularly of importance or rank, misleads him than you can bet he will go willingly, like a sheep to the slaughter. It isn't that he's dumb, he just has a rose-colored view of the world; no matter how many times he's burned, no matter how often his rider warns him, Petrosinth will likely always be just a little naive about the nature of Pern.

Positive Traits: Spirited, Dreamer, Encouraging
Negative Traits: Blindly Loyal, Guilty, Naive

Adult Size: 35'
Physical Attributes: Petrosinth is on the small side of average. He's thin, almost a little delicate, with long limbs and a short neck and tail. He looks just a bit squat for a dragon, and is only barely a bit chubby; the sort of baby chub that doesn't quite ever go away. That said, he has large wings, and will be a very capable flyer. He's faster than some of his larger browns.

Additional Notes: This brown is the sort of brown who is very good natured. He will enjoy flights, but it will take time and experience for him to figure out how to charm them or to figure out what a smolder is. He will also need to beware any dragons of rank steering him wrong, or ordering him to stay put; he will listen if he thinks they know best which could put him out of the chase from the start.

Petrosinth loves hair. He's fascinated by the stuff. He will have a tendency to ooh and aah over the different styles and colors he sees. He wishes he could grow some, but instead, will just encourage his rider to grow theirs out.

Theme Song: I See The Light Cover by PetesJams and Carrie Hope Fletcher
Egg: Brown & Purple Scribble Mystery Egg 18

Why Me? Petrosinth needs a hero and Helaku is his knight in shining armor... or at least his knight in a nice white robe! Where Petrosinth is entirely a dreamer, and lives with his head in the clouds, you can bet that Helaku will help drive their bond and their achievements. His meddlesome nature will actually work out well; it will likely give Petrosinth a little bit more direction. Instead of just dreaming about being a hero, with his rider at his side, maybe this brown can actually be one someday, too! Helaku will be his foundation, but Petrosinth will encourage him to dream and dream big.

There's no denying both rider and dragon will be the most honest pair out there. This brown won't have to worry about being lead astray by Helaku. On the flip side, Helaku will find himself paired with a good-natured partner, who will never hesitate to join him on whatever new adventure they may find themselves in. When Petrosinth does start to feel down, or worse, begins to fret over some infraction, Helaku's patient nature will come in handy. He will be able to draw the brown out of his woes, and not get impatient when it happens again...and again..and again. It's possible Petrosinth might help curb some of Helaku's more reckless behavior, just to keep his brown a little bit happier.

Like rider like dragon, this pair has a tendency to be naive; Helaku gives ample opportunity, and Petrosinth sees the best in everyone. This could get them both in trouble, but at least there's no doubting that their intentions are pure. Together, these two will bring nothing but goodness and support to the Weyr. They will be dependable when the going gets tough, and will be an asset to any Wing.

Brown Nanuth
Written by Dea and #Teddy#
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: Nanuth's name comes from the Inuit word Nanuq (also Nanuk or Nanook are used), which means polar bear. In Inuit religion, Nanook/Nanuq was the deity considered the master of bears, who decided if hunters would be lucky in their pursuits of bears.
Inspiration: In Brother Bear, where the song comes from, they put a great emphasis on the importance of totems for the people. Since Kenai's totem is a bear, it is only fitting that Nanuth's inspired by the bear totem/spirit that is so respected by the Inuit/Native American people in Alaska. The people had a great respect for the polar bears in the region and Kenai turns into a brown bear in the movie. The bear spirit/totem is a beautiful representation of love, strength, courage, being a guardian, and grounding influence.

Personality: Nanuth is a dragon that absorbs a lot of the knowledge around him, making him a very wise dragon. One way this knowledge is gained is by him meditating on what he or his rider did in any given situation. The other way is him watching others and making note of their actions, both things done right and mistakes. Then he formulates ways to build on what he has seen to make it even better or turn a negative into a positive. He has plenty of advice he can give to others, all they have to do is ask. Just like one of those wise men up on the mountaintop, he wants others to work for their answers, he isn't going to just give it to them. Not only that, but like the wise man, he prefers to be by himself most of the time. There are very few people that he allows to break his solitary nature regularly, one of them being his rider. He isn't the greatest at being part of a team, so he may need help on communicating better with others. With some patience, maybe he will be more open to imparting his advice to those who might need it and not keep it to himself.

For those who can get past his solitary walls, people will find Nanuth a loving dragon. He wants the best for people, he just stinks at talking about it to anyone but his rider. To his rider, he will always have the loving words and actions, it is easy with them. This is a dragon who is at least always thinking of ways that he could help others, even if doesn't always voice those thoughts. To those who manage to get him to open up, they will find he can be very protective of them. He will do all he can to keep bad things from happening to those he cares about. He may not be the best at words, but he makes up with it in his actions. Unfortunately, if you rub him the wrong way, this brown will be breathing down your neck. When he gets mad, he get boiling, and it takes a lot to calm him down. One wrong word or action will get this hot tempered dragon fired up. It will take his rider to calm him down and make sure he doesn't cause any trouble.

Along with his love, protection, and wisdom; those close to this brown will find a rock of strength for them to lean against. He will always encourage his chosen few, making them know they can do anything they put their minds to. He is always ready to do whatever needs to be done, no matter how tiring the task may be. He will never back down from any challenge or threat, very few things scare Nanuth. He is a beacon of courage for those who find themselves feeling fearful. This is a dragon who will be more than glad to share his strength and courage to those worthy, especially his rider.

While his courage is something to be admired, it also can lead him to be overconfident. He feels there is nothing he can't do and no one can stop him. That cluster of thread doesn't scare him, he can burn it down without any help from anyone. Of course he can handle that maneuver that everyone else is failing, it is child's play. What do you mean that piece of advice won't work, you are just doing it wrong. In his mind, there is nothing he can't do, all he has to do is put everything he has into it. And he has learned so much, he doesn't need anyone's advice on things..well, except maybe his rider. He doesn't want to admit when maybe he could use some help too. It will take his rider to steer him straight, reminding him that it is okay to ask for assistance. His rider will not think any less of him, but will think he is even more courageous for it.

Unfortunately, this brown can also be very territorial, not wanting people to encroach on places he sees as 'his.' After all, he must have areas where he can go to think and be alone, doesn't he? That ledge is his and that spot of grass was chosen especially by him. Dragons and people can pick somewhere else, he is not going to budge from where he is. This also goes for items and people/dragons/flits that he sees as his, whether they are or not. That bucket of meat is his and don't even think about touching his straps..unless you are his rider. When he finds those he likes, he doesn't like people being near him that he hasn't approved of. It is even worse for his rider, he will give people or dragons so much trouble if they do not get his blessings to spend time with his rider. His rider is going to have to get a handle on that, especially when things and others do not belong to him. With a gentle reminder, he can be reasoned with if he does too far.

Positive Traits: Love, Strength, Courage, Protective, Wise
Negative Traits: Hot tempered, Overconfident, Territorial, Solitary

Adult Size: 42'
Physical Attributes: Nanuth is a maximum size brown, who is as big as some of the average sized bronzes. He may look like he is pudgy, but it is all to hide how strong he really is. He may not have the agility of blues and greens, but he makes up for that in stamina and strength. He can stay in flight for a long time and doesn't seem to tire very easily. Eventually fatigue will set in, if he pushes himself too hard.

Additional Notes: Nanuth will love chasing after golds when they rise, just so he can show how well he does in the air. He will do the same for greens, he doesn't matter the color of the girl dragon in flight. When he does find the female to be with, he will make sure she is alright with him chasing still. During thread, he is a forced to be reckoned with, his flame as hot as his temper can be and extra long when he is ticked off. Flying is in his blood, he loves being up in the air because it gives him such a beautiful view of everything. It is also to be noted that sometimes it looks like he is just 'hibernating' in the air, but it could just be that he is biding his time to make the perfect move.

Theme Song: Look Thorough My Eyes- Everlife (originally done by Phil Collins)
Egg: Mystery Egg 10 - A big egg that has a dark, starry blue color to it. In the center are five curved markings, that are jagged and look like claw marks. Each marking is a different color (pink, brown, red, yellow and orange).

Why Me? Nanuth knew Zamistia was the one the moment he broke from his shell. Her warmth caught his attention, something that he felt he couldn't live without in his life. Her heart was as big as his, he admired how much she did for others. However, he also could tell that she was a light that needed a protective wing to make sure nothing put out that glow. She would need every bit of strength and courage, something that he knew he could provide. He knew his soulmate completed him and he completed her in a way that they both needed. He would do anything for her, make her realize that she didn't need to hide in the shadows anymore. She was made for greatness, he will urge her to shine her light for all to see. And Zamistia will make sure that Nanuth's temper is kept in control, as best as she can. She will stand by her dragon, letting him know that he needs to allow himself to open up and shine himself. Together, this dragon and rider pair will grow and find the place where they belong.

Brown Faloth

Origin of Name: Taken from Fall Out Boy, the composers and performers of "Immortals" from Big Hero 6. The band worked closely with the film's directors to create a song that depicted the coming together of the group as more than just friends as Hiro outfits them all with high-tech super suits. It's also reminiscent of the sound Baymax makes when he gives a fistbump.

Inspiration: "Immortals" from Big Hero 6. While Hiro is the main protagonist, it's the entire team who together are the heroes: fearless Go Go, level-headed Wasabi, upbeat Honey Lemon, goofy Fred and of course child prodigy Hiro and his robot companion Baymax. It's Hiro's need to avenge his brother's death and his invention of various technological devices to help his friends become more than they are that drives the story, but they all ultimately unite as a crime-fighting team. Besides, the lyrics to me describe perfectly the partnership between a dragon and rider, as told from the dragon's perspective.

Personality: This go-getter will be testing his wings and wanting to fly practically as soon as he is shelled! A bold, fearless dragon, Faloth will no doubt have to be dragged away from leaping off a cliff to try to glide well before he is ready. Nothing will hold him back, though, and he'll be trying again even if he leaps and falls. This dragon dreams big, and sometimes takes on more than he is capable of handling, but by Faranth he's going to try his best to succeed -- not just for his sake, but for his rider's as well. He's got a little bit of a reckless streak, though, and it would behoove His to rein that in so neither of them gets hurt.

Creative thinking is one of Faloth's strongest skills. Sure, there is something to be said about tradition, and a lot of things to be said about it at High Reaches Weyr. If something's been done a certain way for a long, long time, and works, then he's not going to fight it. (Much.) But he is more than open to trying new things, and often comes up with the new ideas himself. A bit of a maverick at times, he will sometimes act against the Wingleader's orders and do things his own way, especially during Threadfall. Trouble and discipline problems are going to dog Faloth throughout his life as a result. He means no harm or disrespect (usually) -- he just wants to shake things up for the sake of the wing and the Weyr. This dragon sees himself as the hero of his own story, and as such everything he does is for the greater good, even if it is ultimately wrong.

His optimism is contagious; he's a great cheerleader not just for His but for his entire wing. Faloth works hard and plays just as hard if not harder. There's something of the jokester in him, and he can make even the most dour dragon snort with laughter with his antics and wisecracks. This also sometimes gets him in trouble too, especially when the joke's on the Wingleader. It's hard to punish him, though, since it's usually harmless (if annoying) and meant in the spirit of having a laugh as a team. He does have a tendency to sometimes drop into the snarky or sarcastic, though it doesn't happen often; it's usually triggered by the proximity of someone whom he feels has done him or His wrong and is therefore deserving of his savage wit.

Faloth has a very long memory for a dragon and a tendency not to forgive or forget whomever has wronged him or his rider. A vengeful creature, he will plot a devious revenge on the offender, often taking Turns to formulate just the right form his vengeance will take. As noted above, it often takes the form of biting sarcasm or satire of some sort. But it's all done out of love for his rider. And he adores His. This dragon is extremely protective of his rider; he will get into squabbles with anyone who tries to harm His in any way and intercede in the inevitable fistfights, ending up with more than a few battle scars that aren't from fighting Thread. His rider will have to learn to control his temper if he doesn't want harm to come to Faloth.

Positive Traits: Clever, protective, bold, funny, optimistic
Negative Traits: Vengeful, a maverick, reckless, bites off more than he can chew

Adult Size: 34'
Physical Attributes: A average-sized brown with dark golden-chocolate hide, Faloth will grow up lean, strong and whippy, with long pointed wings and a large wedge-shaped head. The rest, of course, is artist's choice.

Additional Notes: Faloth flames as hard as he does everything, which is good since he moves fairly quickly for a brown in and out of formation and he doesn't want to accidentally char himself or his rider. In mating flights, he's as bold as they come, chasing every queen that rises (and a few greens too). This dragon doesn't care if he catches or not -- it's the thrill of the chase! And if he does catch her, well, nothing wrong with that in his mind, even at High Reaches Weyr!

Theme Song: They say we are what we are, but we don't have to be

Egg: Mystery Egg 7. A small egg, round and plump, white with two black dots connected by a straight black line.

Why Me? This brown needs someone as bold as he is, and he finds that in Willim. The young brewer's fearless demeanor and huge heart paired with Faloth's strong will and cleverness make for a formidable team. A less strong, bold person would have trouble reining in some of Faloth's worse tendencies; with Willim giving him a sense of direction and focus, this dragon and rider pair can turn those bad behaviors into strengths. They will bring out the best in each other, each encouraging the other to bigger and better things so they can achieve their goals. Faloth and Willim will likely get in trouble more than a few times, but they will serve out their punishment with good humor. After all, they'd admit with a laugh, they earned it!.

Blue Holleth
Written by Mr Cheri
Colored by demon_pachabel

User Image

Origin of Name: The name Holleth comes from the Germanic Frau Holle, who is equated to the ancient Germanic Goddess Holda. The Goddess Holda held dominion over agriculture and women's crafts. She is seen as a parallel to Odin's wife Frigga. It is Frau Holle who, during the Winter Solstice, gifts industrious women with completion of their household tasks. If one's needlework is in order, and there might be one piece unfinished, it is said that Holle will finish it.

Inspiration: Let It Go - Frozen

Based on Hans Christian Anderson's The Snow Queen, Frozen features an iconic relationship between the sisters Elsa and Anna, who very little resemble the original tale. This brilliant twist, focusing on a sister bond, puts to paid the notion of women as villains, working against one another, and instead replaces such an image with a story of redemption and hope. A beloved classic, the Snow Queen nevertheless has several troubling elements, such as characterizing the villain as a seducer of men, and an enchantress without a heart of her own.

It is from this woman that Gerda, the heroine of our piece, must steal back her childhood sweetheart, Kai. While there are elements of empowerment without the tale, such as the robber girl and her assistance of Gerda in her journey, and Gerda's determination to rescue her friend at any cost, still the pitting of one woman against another to some leaves a bad taste in one's mouth. In Disney's Frozen, the villain is instead the scheming Hans, no doubt named for the story's creator.

For members of the LGBT community, Frozen's Let It Go is both a coming of age and a coming out anthem. Forced to literally hide herself from the world, shut away lest her deviant powers be put on display, Elsa represents to many the picture of a young queer girl, who is struggling with emotions that are too powerful to be contained. Let It Go has become a beloved cultural phenomenon, inspiring many covers, as well as an entire generation of young girls.

Personality: There is a core of cold strength within Holleth, but that core is shadowed by sorrow and self-loathing. He does not measure up to those of his siblings whose hides sparkle as his biological parents' do. There is an air of tragedy and remorse surrounding the Blue, who is so diligent that he presses much too hard, pushing past his own physical limitations. Growing up in the presence of one of Pern's most impressive Blues, Holleth has much to measure up to.

Although he may not be a Bronze, young Holleth is nevertheless imperial in his manner and carriage. One could never mistake him for anything less than the son of one of Faranth's own Queens. Although he puts on a brave face, there is conflict within his hearts. He wants nothing more than to be loved for who he is, and yet... who he is does not quite match up with who he should be. For, indeed, Holleth will never feel any urge to Chase after a Green as might be expected of him.

It is, rather, for the Chasers that he will yearn. However, such behavior would be, to Holleth, inappropriate. He knows that he ought to at least pretend at interest. And certainly, rising from the lineage that he does, one might well assume that he would give chase even to Queens. Yet this reticent Blue will do no such thing. He does not accept himself, pretending that everything is fine, and that he does not feel powerful emotions. Although defensive by nature, he will bottle every emotion up until they erupt into dangerous explosions of passion.

Since his esteemed company is not to be shared with others, who surely are on their own right paths, Holleth will turn any self-pity inward, ruminating with sorrow over his own lack. If only he could just be normal, perhaps he might not need to hide so. Those who manage to get through his frigid exterior will find within a warm and genuine individual, who gives his hearts fully when they are given at all. He has a great capacity to love, and although he fears it, he may one day benefit from a romance for which tales are made.

Positive Traits: Hard Working, Earnest, Regal
Negative Traits: Reclusive, Pent Up, Defensive

Adult Size: 23'
Physical Attributes: Lovely Holleth is fooling no one, although he certainly thinks that he is. There is a certain characteristic grace to the Blue's movements and visage, and at the smallest possible size for a Blue, he presents nothing so much as the image of delicate masculine beauty. He has wide wings which will readily catch the air, should he so desire.

Additional Notes: Although Holleth may suffer from crushes on his brothers, he will not give evidence of this. He has no desire to be seen as anything but a capable Blue, and such attachments will not serve him well. Anyone who wishes to get past Holleth's frosty exterior will have to try hard indeed. Once caught, however, his attention is likely to be held. There may be an OTP in store for this boy. Make no mistake - he will never Chase a Green or Gold, at least not to win.

Theme Song: Let It Go cover by Peter Hollins
Egg: This medium sized blue egg has bright blue stripes streaking over it. There's a restlessness about this egg, as if its contents want nothing more than to be free.

Why Me? Holleth and Talis have a lot in common. This is one pair who could benefit from each other's love. Holleth needs someone who can get past his icy shell, but at the same time who can empathize with his aloof and defensive nature. Talis is Holleth's hero, and he wants nothing more than to spend his days with her. They are equally hard on themselves, and could perhaps benefit from seeing the good in each other.

Blue Vaqueroth
Written by Uta
Colored by Andranis

User Image

Origin of Name: The English word cowboy originated in Ireland. The first published use of the word was in 1725 by Jonathan Swift, referring to a boy tending cows. It was used in Britain from 1820-1850 to literally describe young boys who tended the family or community cows.

It appeared in Western America during the 1880s as a direct English translation of vaquero, derived from vaca, the Spanish word meaning "cow," which came from the Latin word vacca. It described an individual who managed cattle while mounted on horseback. Another English word for a cowboy, buckaroo, is an anglicization or English pronounciation of vaquero.

Inspiration: You've Got a Friend In Me - Toy Story.

Toy Story is Pixar's first full feature film. It was produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Pictures in theaters in the U.S. on November 22, 1995. Toy Story is also the first full-length theatrically-released feature film to be made entirely with computer generated imagery (CGI).

Taking place in a world where anthropomorphic toys pretend to be lifeless when humans are present, the film's plot focuses on the relationship between Woody, an old-fashioned pullstring cowboy doll (voiced by Tom Hanks), and Buzz Lightyear, an astronaut action figure (voiced by Tim Allen), as they evolve from rivals competing for the affections of Andy, their owner, to friends who work together to be reunited with Andy as his family prepares to move to a new home.

The song, You've Got a Friend In Me, is the theme of the original film, Toy Story, but is showcased in all of the current Toy Story films.

Personality: Ever since he hatched from his egg. Vaqueroth is about as friendly as they come. He is the sort of blue who has an easy affability, and can make others feel at ease when around him. He has an approachable air, and never hesitates to try to reach out a wing to meet new faces, or welcome strangers. He might not be as ostentatious as some of his clutch siblings, but he is a blue who considers almost everyone he meets a friend.

Though he's a blue dragon, he treats all with good humor, and kindness. He cares deeply about his rider and his true friends, and that deep love often drives his actions. Even the most difficult or crabby of dragons will find their irritability won't really affect Vaqueroth's devotion. Once you're in his circle-of-friendship, you can bet you'll stay there for good! He might have a large circle, but that doesn't make anyone less important or less loved by this doting blue.

To those he loves, he is a loyal friend. When times get tough, he will be there to keep an eye on those most vulnerable. Where can he help? What can he do to assure? Even if he has his own doubts, he does what he can to think of his friends and family first, and not let them see. No matter the misunderstandings that might arise, no matter the hard knocks that might come between him and his beloveds, this dragon can easily forgive and forget. You can bet, once a friend, a friend for life, come hell or highwater! This blue has your back, this blue's faithfulness will not be detered, this blue--

Wait.

Is someone more popular than him? Come again? Ah, this blue has a good heart, but a jealous heart all the same. Nothing gets under this dragon's skin like someone stealing his limelight, or getting more adulation, especially from HIS friends or rider! If someone seems to draw their eye more than him, or if they start looking to a new friend for advice, and stop coming to him, you can bet this blue will start to simmer in jealousy. What is he, yesterday's news?! What do they have that he doesn't!?

Born with a healthy dose of competition, this blue likes to be number one. Unfortunately, he was given too much of a good thing, and he will find himself competing over things that aren't even a competition. If someone gets praise because of how they flew, you can bet Vaqueroth will try to pull off an even more impressive move -- and if he fails -- will likely downplay the others achievements. If he finds himself second best, he will try to find some way, any way, to upend the other. His rider will need to try to keep this blue's jealousy and competitive nature in check; no, just because someone got a compliment from V'mel doesn't mean that Vaqueroth and his rider need to practically throw themselves at the others feet in some sort of flashy display. Just because someone brought down a large herdbeast doesn't mean he has to go out and take on an even bigger, and more impressive, beast. He firmly believes anything you can do, he can do better, and it might well drive some of his friends away.

Yes, this blue is a scheming creature. If his jealousy is allowed to continue unabated, you can bet this blue will stew, and try to think of ways to not just out-compete the other, but eventually, find some way to knock them off their beloved pedestal. It's not a side of him he's proud to think about, or even acknowledge, as he tries very hard to be a Good Blue, but it is there all the same. He can still be friendly, but also secretly loathe, those who somehow just manage to shine brighter than him. His rider will likely be the balm that Vaqueroth needs to keep him from doing anything rash, but if kept unchecked, this blue might have little problem coming up with some plan to re-gain his popularity, and to get eyes back on him. Faranth forbid his rider ever fall in love, or put someone else before this blue. It would not be pretty.

Positive Traits: Popular, Friendly, Loyal
Negative Traits: Jealous, Overly-Competitive, Scheming

Adult Size: 31'
Physical Attributes: A large blue, Vaqueroth has very long and very large wings, but a strangely heavier, more muscular build. He isn't quite as fast or as flashy as some blues, but he certainly has a style all his own. His headknobs are a little stubbier than some, but he's built a bit like a brick.

Additional Notes: If Vaqueroth's rider has fire-lizards, or impresses them down the road, this blue will likely be jealous of the time needed to care for them. He might grudgingly accept it, but he probably isn't going to be particularly fond of whatever fair his rider has (or might get).

The one time Vaqueroth seems to get a tongue-tied is during Flights. This blue sometimes turns into a bit of a bumbling sort around a pretty lady he might favor. He seems to be a bit more of an OTP sort of blue than a ladies man.

Theme Song: You'Ve Got a Friend in Me Cover by Scott Abrams featuring Casey Abrams.
Egg: A small pink and magenta egg, that give sthe appearance of a galaxy sits front and center. It is a friendly little egg.

Why Me? Liulfr is Vaqueroth's entire world, and there is absolutely nothing this blue won't do for him. When he looked at all the Candidates upon the Sands, it was this large, sometimes misunderstood, intimidating Candidate that had a heart as kind and loving as his own. Here was someone who needed something soft in his life, someone to give him as much attention, love, affection, and adoration as he needs. Liulfr will never need to worry about making friends again, because he has his most perfect Vaqueroth right there with him forever and for always. Additionally, this blue is sociable and friendly enough to get along with just about anyone--so Liulfr will find himself socializing with other riders and weyrlings simply by proxy.

Where the Liulfr gets through life using muscle, Vaqueroth has a tendency to use his brains. The two might be able to balance one another out; where the boy might struggle when it comes to hidework or lessons, you can bet that his dragon will be there to help sort through any struggle. Let it be known that this blue will never judge his rider or look down at him; and if anyone ever says a bad word about him, well, they will find themselves with a very protective blue on their hands! On the other hand, these two both have a tendency towards jealousy so they might well understand where the others pain is coming from, and either help soothe it through their bond, or at least, help one another achieve their desires so such a feeling can dissipate. Vaqueroth doesn't like being overshadowed, and tends to be a schemer; but his love and adoration for Liulfr will ensure that he never actually tries to manipulate or use His. And he'll never let anyone else do the same. It takes a schemer to know one, after all, and he'll ensure that his sweet Liulfr isn't turned into a tool.

When frustration or anger or rage does strike His, this blue will hopefully be a balm upon his heart. If nothing else, he's clever enough to try to distract his rider from his hurt or confusion, or at least, ensure that he's not steamrolling any innocent parties. At the end of the day, Vaqueroth will ensure that Liulfr need never feel inferior again, because he is His, and he is nothing short of perfect.

Blue Auksarath
Written by Smerdle
Colored by ShinosBee

User Image

Origin of Name: Auksarath's name is derived from the Lithuanian version of Tinker Bell—Auksarankė.

Inspiration: You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! - Peter Pan

Personality: There is a quality that many self-absorbed creatures possess, a shiny, practiced mien that can make them come across as phony and arrogant. Though he is obviously in love with his own grand ideas, Auksarath's bearing is much less deliberate. He is quirky where others are conceited, and his sheer earnestness tends to balance any snobbish behaviors he might slip into when he's trying to force a point. Physical appearance doesn't play into this blue's measure of worth, and he is all the more approachable for it. He doesn't mind if you're scarred up or missing parts like his sire, he only cares if you're a boring sourpuss.

Auksarath is rarely sad, finding reasons to keep his spirits up that might seem morbid or perverse, depending on the situation. He is always thinking, not about intellectual topics but imaginative ones, like how he might make the Weyrlingmaster scream or what sorts of creatures live in the clouds. And speaking of the clouds... Auksarath loves them more than most things on Pern. If he could, he would spend his life on the wing, floating high above the stupid problems and stale formations and tiresome everything that happens on the ground below. While he doesn't exactly have a problem with authority, his attitude toward excessive practice, repetition, and bootlicking is poor, and it will take a strong presence, whether human or dragon, to keep him from sassing his superiors to excess. His ambition is low, his solutions to problems are unconventional, and he should probably be kept far away from leadership positions at all costs.

Ultimately this blue just wants to have fun, even if a lot of the time that fun is in his head. He's a prolific dreamer who occasionally branches out to accomplish something in the real world, whether it's building the best pillow pirate fort at High Reaches or saving a friend from Thread.

Positive Traits: Cheerful, Whimsical, Original
Negative Traits: Easily Bored, Self-Centered, Invasive

Adult Size: 23'
Physical Attributes: Auksarath is positively petite for a blue, and there is nothing about his physique that fools the eye into countering this truth. His limbs, neck, and tail are slender and willowy, while his eyes and wings veer toward oversized and will remain that way even after he's reached his full length. Combined, these traits give him a coltish, youthful appearance, and the more nurturing people and dragons in his life might be tempted to coddle him well into adulthood as a result.

Additional Notes: Although Auksarath will eat just enough to keep himself sustained when encouraged by his rider, the blue does not particularly enjoy the act of consuming food and will need to be watched closely as he grows lest he undereat.

During the flights he finds himself participating in, he will almost invariably wander off halfway through, the faint desire to chase that he does possess not enough to hold his attention for the duration. He is capable of the obsessive crushes and deep affection that will keep him chasing with the intent to win, but these are rare and he is generally slow to come to full realization regarding his feelings.

His stamina isn't the best, but he does have a remarkably precise flame and impressive dexterity.

Theme Song: You Can Fly! You Can Fly! You Can Fly! by Disney Eurobeat

Egg: This is a medium sized blue egg in the back of the clutch, dusted with stars. It is impish and wants nothing more than to have fun!

Why Me? Jeri drew Auksarath almost immediately. The girl is so bright and bubbly and carefree that the dragon felt as if she were nothing short of a kindred spirit. This dragon certainly doesn't care a lick about studies and math and numbers or whether His can read or write; what he wants out of a partner is someone who knows how to live life to the fullest and won't hesitate to go on some grand adventure. Auksarath is a blue who keeps his head in the clouds, and and his imaginative and whimsical nature goes well with Jeri's own eccentricities. He'll find her life as a performer fascinating--much more fun than hidework and chores!

His cheer will match her cheer, and together, you can bet the two of them will be some of the happiest dragonriders in High Reaches! This blue doesn't often let a lot get him down, and he is just a bit too self-centered to have the patience to pull someone else up with him on a daily basis; instead, he appreciates that Jeri tends to keep herself happy without relying on him. But don't think Auksarath won't be there in a heartbeat if His needed a little extra burst of cheer. In fact, the two will see-saw one another's mood quite nicely; when one is down, the other is sure to help bring them back up, and vice-versa.

Together, these two will certainly stand out and shine. Jeri's patience may be tested when Auksarath grows bored and is insistent they break a rule or two to have a bit of fun; her strong-will might also be tested when it comes to keeping this blue from sassing his superiors, unless, of course, she simply eggs him on. These two have the possibility of being a bit like mixing oil and fire... but for Auksarath, he wouldn't have it any other way. Her dreams are now his dreams, and you can bet this blue will do whatever he must for her to achieve them.
